Right Wing blog reads the tea leaves and decides that Palin is NOT running for President.

Courtesy of Red State:

“It’s fair to them to give them an answer here, in short order, so that they can jump on board with someone else.” – Sarah Palin August 13, 2011

With those words, former Gov. Sarah Palin made it clear to me that she will not run for president in 2012.

You don’t tell your supporters “they can jump on board with someone else” if you are going to run. It’s as simple as that. One could, and no doubt many will, say Palin was just inarticulate. I don’t buy that.

So what do you think?  IS Red State correct in this assumption, or are they simply judging Palin by what normal rational people would do in her circumstance?

Well I can tell you one thing, the folks over at the Sea O'Pee are not buying into Red State's assumption one little bit.

How Redstate came to the conclusion that this means she’s not running beats me. What Governor Palin said is that she’s seriously thinking about it and will make a decision shortly because ”IF”, and I emphasize ”IF”, she decides not to run it wouldn’t be fair for her to hold on to her supporters.

What I take away from this response is that as far as the Governor is concerned she would wait longer to make an announcement, but she understands that a decision must come sooner so it doesn’t appear like she’s stringing people along.

Redstate obviously wishes that Governor Palin won’t run, but just because you hope something won;t happen doesn’t mean it won’t.

In any event the day Governor Palin announces, Redstate loses it’s credibility, whatever was left of it.

I wonder if the SPCA can charge Palin with cruelty to dumb animals?

    she has never been running
the media and her bots have been running her, but she herself is not, and never has been.

she's a helium balloon filled only with stale air, propped up by those who benefit from her being floated as a potential candidate
    really, she is not running

Let's see about that whole family schtick:

She can't even make it to Iowa for a fly-in with an intact family. And that's ONLY three kids, one an older teen/almost adult.

If she can't do a one day field trip to a fair with her family, then it's pretty obvious she can't be President and parent - isn't it?

Time for dipshit Sarah to make her Vp concession from 2008 that she is not running for POTUS for the good of North Korea or some bullshit like that.

Maybe that is why all the Palins went to Arizona so they can make a videotape of Sarah announcing she is not running for POTUS with her family standing behind her.

You see Sarah has to tape it because she will fuck it up and they can do retakes until she gets it right.

  10. Perhaps Palin planned to wait in the wings, with periodic "look at me" performances, until her main competitors self-destructed--because unlike her they were actually appearing in debates and answering questions and having their records investigated. After all, being a Janie-come-lately with little vetting worked for her in 2008.

For non-Establishment candidates, Pawlenty is out, Bachmann is expected to fail outside of Iowa, and Santorum will leave to take a gay rights job in Iran. But--enter Rick Perry, the wrench in Palin's plans. She may begin posing to be VP candidate again.

I think many of you are right that she'll wait to see the Sept. fallout from Joe and Levi and Fred before she announces anything. She does not want to be on a campaign trail constantly available to be questioned then.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I still think she will wait to see who will be front runners and wait till almost the end.
She can then enter the race at the end saying her fans insist.
She can then wage a short campaign, she will not have to do all those pesky debates. Remember, she will be an unconventional candidate and will not do what the other candidates are doing to win. She has spent the whole summer on Fox so she has had the best of both worlds, watching the other candidates, teasing she may enter and getting paid the big bucks.
She will enter the race for a short time, but it will keep her minions donating and keep her cash cow flowing!

Their new theory that Sarah is running concerns the black toenails with white dots that Granny Grifter sported at the Iowa State Fair. According to Sea O'Pee poster GA4Palin, Sarah's toenails looked like dice and that must mean the she's going to roll the dice and run. Sheesh!

    Bristol said she already decided.

So let's say the decision was to run. I can understand stringing along the media, but why tell your supporters they can jump on board with another candidate RIGHT NOW? You wouldn't say that. She's not running.

The day Bachman entered the race, it became even more unlikely she'd run. She doesn't want to be put into the position of attacking a female right winger, because that would turn off her female supporters big time. She cut her teeth on the meme of attacking "good old boys" and such, not sisters. Plus, it could get dirty, because Bachmann would let it fly, and she knows it.

I know many people think she's jockeying for a VP slot with Perry, but that's also unlikely. For one, it's not a step UP for her, it's a lateral move at best, and in her little mind it's not good enough.

I believe Bristol's little blurt-outs: "Abstinence is unrealistic." "I was hoping you weren't the father." "Mom already decided."

Kids say the darnedest things, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous6:38 AM

Michele Bachmann will not win. If history serves to teach us any lessons we can glean, it is that women who run under the "Mama Grizzly"-style of politics do absolutely terrible come voting day.

Point(s) in case: Sarah Palin arguable lost the race for the Republicans the last election. Sharon Angle couldn't beat the most unpopular democrat in the last election, despite of the fact that she had more popular support and she had more money. Speaking of money, Linda McMahon spent over $50 million of her own money and still lost by a hefty 11% of election day. Meg Whitman burned $160 million in her bid for California Governor and got demolished. Christine O'Donnell, Carlie Fiorina....the list goes on.

"Mama Grizzly"-style politics don't work because they appeal to contradictory political emotions. At it's heart it is conservative right wing politics, which has no room for the femininity to be accepted in the political sphere. These Tea Party women dress to maximize their sex appeal or motherly visage; it kills them and it will kill Bachmann. Conservative men (and oddly enough, especially conservative women) don't vote for feminine women, because it goes against the very conservative ideal that women should preoccupy themselves with domestic duties.

It's not just the right wing side of it though. Almost every major female politician to have a substantial impact in America and on the global scale has had to kill their femininity. There is a reason that women like Hillary Clinton and Angela Merkel dress in suits and posture themselves like men: because people look for those attributes in good politicians subconsciously. It's a very purposeful strategy to appear legitimate to the common voter. People want their leaders to look strong, not sexy.

Straw polls are notorious for being misleading and screwy. I mean, Ron Paul usually cleans up here. 'Nuff said. Obama has this election in the bag for one really good reason: voters at least know how he is going to act as president for another 4 years. Might not be the best, but it's too scary for people to actually take a chance on a candidate like Bachmann.

dianedp got it right. Redstate is delusional. If Palin was worried about being fair to her fans she would have already announced. She knows the answer. She's holding off as long as possible so she can run a short campaign. This will minimize the amount of work required and the damage from embarrassing revelations. The pundits are assuming that an official announcement would mean she's running for the presidency. She will only be running to keep the money coming in. These are different goals that require different strategies. If she was really trying to be elected she would have already announced. They're looking at her as a politician when all she wants to be is a media star.

Think back to how he manhandled Sarah all over the stage at the governors association meeting (2009?): dragged her up to the podium by literally hauling her up by the elbow, then elbowing her aside and stepping back up to the podium when he was ready to reassert control. THAT is Rick Perry.

She may have decided some time ago to go for it, but much has happened since then. And much continues to happen. Every. Damn. Day. I don't think that she knows from moment to moment what she wants and what she will do.

Her thinking is very chaotic, her mood is very labile:

    1) She is deeply disappointed and angry that Bachmann and Perry are stealing her celebrity and her chances for the prize.

    2) She is profoundly jealous, very little attention is being paid to her any longer, the MSM has moved on. Sure, she has an occasional mention but it is not sufficient.

    3) She is bewildered that her bots are beginning to turn away, she never thought that would happen. She has yet to accept that her life story "The Undefeated" was a spectacular failure.

    4) She is running out of time to arrange her perfectly happy family into a strong defensive position...the clock is ticking on blogs, books, interviews, reality shows and a movie. It is clear that her children have all gone rogue and she has lost her ability to control them.

Her physical appearance has deteriorated remarkably, she appears to be anorexic and unable to maintain the sexual appeal that the bots need to stay interested.

  51. The fact is Palin is not a candidate now and many have already declared. She is not doing what candidates do except having an RV decorated like a campaign vehicle.

She kicked off a self aggrandizing movie which fell short of people clamoring to see it.

The bots remind me of someone planning their wedding for a guy who they want to marry but he has not proposed and infrequently calls her.

The possibility that Palin may not run triggers anger from the bots. Their insane loyalty rooted in belief she is their great white hope has sunk to grasping at straws taking toenails as signs. Regardless they pour effort in to even set up a trust fund to fund a campaign before Palin decides.

I can't fathom donating to someone who will not commit nor make any personal investment herself.

IMO Palin is stringing people along. The Palins have had years to decide. Their decision went by way of cashing in, fame, tv shows exclusively with no serious prep to be a viable qualified presidential candidate.

That choice is okay for it is their life. It is nor ok to mislead nor take advantage of people putting on an occasional show like parachuting in for the fair baiting speculation then say golly I don't know...family first blah blah.
She had July or over two years to decide.

Palin has had a huge advantage over others tapped for VP. It is more clear to me they went for money and political theatre is a means to their end.

Anon @ 6:38 AM, I disagree with you that female politicians have to kill their femininity to win in politics. And by femininity, I don't mean wearing skirts and dresses, I mean the maternal, compassionate, warm instincts in women. (in most of us, anyway)

In fact, I once read a really good synopsis of why Hillary Clinton ultimately didn't win the nomination. After eight years of an authoritarian, America didn't want a "father" - it wanted a "Mom." And Obama, while clearly a confident, masculine man, provided a much sharper distinction from George Bush, the swaggering authoritarian, than Hillary did.

So my advice to women who want to make it in politics: BE a woman. Don't be afraid to show your natural revulsion for war and violence (I'd really love for a woman politician to come along and finally state the obvious: that it's a travesty to send young people barely out of childhood to serve fight wars that adults are starting); don't be afraid to announce one of our chief domestic security policies should be to hunt down every child predator; and I could go on and on. What I'm saying is, LET YOUR INNER MOM GUIDE YOUR POLITICS.

It would be a refreshing change, and I think America is long past ready for it.

    10:06 is correct

This was all about getting write in votes at the straw poll.
She could have gone to the fair on any day ,
    it runs through next weekend.
She didn't have to release an announcement days
    ahead
if she just wanted to visit the fair
    and see rill Americans.
She thought this would be the ticket
    to finally starting
    the Palin for President groundswell.
Since the first bus tour didn't do it.
And the movie didn't do it.
And Sean Hannity and FOX are unable to do it, although they do try every day.
And this dinky bus tour won't do it.

With the enormous amount of publicity Palin got the day before the vote-
it was another Epic Palin Fail.
    Hindenburg Level Fail.
Palin was " the " story of the day , all day Friday.
And she couldn't even get more than
30 people to vote for her
    out of 17,000.
    30..
This latest Palin bomb should be the last " straw "
    for any sane reporter
to continue the idiotic speculation that she was going to enter the race.
And yet, Jonathan Martin of Politico was on MTP this morning gushing
    about Palin possibly getting in.
I only hope Palin continues to do her political strip tease
until after Joe's book is published,
    to help his sales.

BTW-She can't use her own PAC $ for a presidential run.

The latest FOX poll shows that the majority of Tea Party plus
    an overwhelming...overwhelming... majority of Republicans,
    Indys, Democrats,
    women and men
    do not believe Palin
    would make a good president.
I think Casey Anthony might have better numbers.

Here's the deal. If you are halfway presentable and likeable, an enormous amount of unpaid for, non-stop media coverage IS YOUR FRIEND. It doesn't matter if the media articles have snarky headlines, if your live streamed interviews and speeches connect with people, YOU WILL BECOME POPULAR.

    It.has.not.helped. Sarah Palin.

Her polls just keep getting lower. She is not liked by the majority of voters. She is not respected by the majority of voters. She has had ample time to change this. She has had unprecedented amounts of media coverage. IT HAS NOT HELPED.

Wow, this Alaskan woman just told Todd Palin to his face exactly what he and his wife are: SELLOUTS. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=95350

I love it when he asks her what she would have done, she smiles and says "Well, you go for the money, don't you? SELLOUT."

What I see most in the two interviews from yesterday is that someone has put Sarah back on her meds.

She wasn't so screechy insane hyper gibberish as she usually is.

Maybe this last illegitimately conceived grand baby she doesn't talk about has made her stop and think about her family and her responsibility for their overwhelming trashiness, and what another round of national scrutiny might make public.

Would the Dud stand from being her baggage carrier for another run for office, would he be willing to play second fiddle as first lady to a POTUS or second lady to the VP for another 4 to 8 years and have to live in DC and spend half his life at cocktail parties, and tea parties with the wives of congress men, trying to carry on PhD level conversations.

There is not way DC insiders would let him get away with abusing his position they way he could in a small government state.

    Hey Sare~

Hate to break it to ya . . . but "fall time" draws nigh.

No. I don't think she will run. I think she knows enough about what will soon be coming out about her and her family - and she will plead the media is after them.
I think she needs to expand her "enemies list". It is nowhere near the number of people who are determined to see her fall.
On another note - this is not meant as a simply catty remark because I do not like her - it is what I think is an honest observation:
Her personal grooming sometimes amazes me. She looked like she needed a shower and shampoo. She looked disheveled and basically unkept. I remember reading somewhere that poor hygiene is a symptom of mental illness. I have no idea if that is true or not - but she looked real tacky.

Palin IS running and HAS BEEN running for President for quite some time.

As soon as she announces, the FOX gravy train ends (1,000,000/year?). She'll also undergo greater scrutiny and face questions about her past performance and legal troubles. AND her financial expenditures and withdrawals will be exposed. She will risk that for God.

However, Palin has no intention of enduring debates or townhalls or press conferences where she'll be one of the crowd AND exposed as stupid. She is nervous enough in friendly venues with pre-scripted questions.

    1) If Lisa Murkowski could win a write-in vote for Senator, Palin believes the SHE could win a write-in vote for President.

    2) She believes that the End Times(TM) are at hand, and that God has chosen her to LEAD HIS PEOPLE to the blessed haven of Alaska. If God wants her as Queen-Esther-Come-Again, he'll make certain that everyone in America goes to the polls with little tongues of divine inspiration over their heads. Or they are doomed to fiery death.

Unfortunately for her, Perry is also a Dominionist who believes that God chose HIM to lead those who will be saved to the sacred haven of Texas.

He has his line-up of supportive preachers and rich donors, as she has The Family and Graham's empire to back her claims.

Perry visited Israel first. Palin met with the head of state. Both will claim the blessing. However, I can see each of them screeching that "God loves ME best!" while vowing to create a theocracy in the rubble of Holy War.

@hauksdottir-respectfully disagree. Palin has no real religion. In fact, she's irreligious. The Family is done w/her & after the Nat'l Enquirer implied she was having an affair w/ Franklin, it's doubtful we'll see the 2 of them together anytime soon.

Palin lost her high-rollers & her holy rollers. She has no one now but "the people." and only 25,000 of them.

She couldn't give a spit about the end times. That's just BS she spews to whatever audience she thinks wants to hear it. Seriously, if she really thought the end times were near & AK was a sacred refuge, why did she buy a house in AZ? Why does Bristol live in LA? Whydoes she let her previous grandson Tripp roam around the lower 48! Sarah Palin only "has beliefs" to earn $$$.

So true, 9:32. You're great at translating quitterspeak.

On June 28, Fox and Friends asked Bristol if her mother already knows what she intends to do in relation to the 2012 race. Bristol responded, "You know she definitely knows. We’ve talked about it before but some things just need to stay in the family."

$arah is knowingly stringing the $ucker$ along and will continue to do so for as long as po$$ible.

    "...so, still thinkin' about it..."
What the HELL is wrong with this fool, that she can NEVER put a SUBJECT at the start of a sentence, or even at the start of a phrase in one of her ubiquitous run-on sentences.
Don't they expect some level of basic English grammar skill or knowledge in the college level coursework that supposedly leads toward a "degree in Journalism" ?!!!!!!!!!!
