The 41-year-old congresswoman was seated with her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, as she talked with ABC's Diane Sawyer for an interview that will air Monday.
A preview was broadcast Thursday on "World News."
Giffords was wearing a yellow top with gold buttons and dark eyeglasses. Her brown hair has grown out since it was shaved in May for surgery to repair her skull.
When Sawyer asked how she felt, Giffords said, "Pretty good." She also said her recovery was "difficult."
The images on this video are really tough to see, but hearing her speak at the end is well worth the discomfort and feelings of sadness over what happened to her. Simply put, the woman is just amazing!
I don't usually watch ABC News, but you can bet I will be tuned in this Monday evening.
By the way if you have not yet pre-ordered your copy of "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope" here is the link. It will be available for purchase in book stores on November 15, 2011.
What an amazing woman. She's everything Sarah Palin is not and will never be. Beautiful on the inside and out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gryphen, very touching.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that with us. What a fighter! What a love story!
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the book for my kindle last week.
One of the bloggers on your sidebar had excerpts from the book (sorry, I can't seem to remember which one) and it seemed like a story worth reading...but more than that, I wanted to give them my financial support.
For what it is worth...before this incident, I was somewhat neutral about Sarah Palin, but after her "blood libel" tape, I became an ardent hater (yes, she made me hate her that day). That video opened my eyes to how mean and nasty she is...not one word of sympathy to her victims, making it all about her.
O/T: I just read this article, "Christians" Killing Children For Jesus by Frank Schaeffer. It's not for the faint of heart, but if you read it, you may find yourself asking yourself—as I did—I wonder whether [right-wing leader] was brought up this way?
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to say the video on your site didn't load -- because so many other people wanted to see it too. No problem, I just clicked over to another version.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! Gabby looks more beautiful than ever, as do the two of them together. What a hard, hard road, and what courage, discipline, work. Words fail me.
Amazing how Sarah Palin's mean high school girl attitude has changed the lives of many families.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's gun sight targets has brought death and sadness to many.
We're witnessing s miracle, folks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing she is . . .

ReplyDeleteMore on Giffords...
Wow ! just can't imagine going through that. Amazing Woman. And that pic of Obama at her bedside praying brought tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteYes, a miracle. And via such difficult, hard work.
ReplyDeleteUntil we see actual victims in their recovery status, and see the horror or bullet wounds and the bruising and swelling, it doesn't sink in how amazing Gabby's recovery is. And, it also shows the horror of what uncontrolled guns can do to people.
ReplyDeleteShe is looking so beautiful - I'll be watching on Monday night too.
The half term governor exhibits no self awareness, but I cannot help but wonder if when she considers a beautiful, educated, women with character and class such as Gabby she regrets rearing her children in the manner she has.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing woman and couple. I'll be sure to watch this interview, and any others she may do. I will buy copies of her book to give as presents, she's nothing short of a miracle, and a role model for everyone, including the clueless egomaniac formerly known as the Governor of Alsaka.
ReplyDeleteThis is a woman I can honestly say is an example of "human exceptionalism", she's come so far, but has so far to go. I believe she'll not only beat the odds, but return to do great things for the people she represents.
Go Gabby! Stand on your tiptoes and reach for the stars!
I remember when Gabby got shot, had never heard of her but was stunned by the violence of that day. Tears in my eyes at her progress, what a courageous woman! This is one politician we can be proud of, best wishes to her & her husband, karenkristin
ReplyDeleteShe is a true inspiration.
