Even though the Republicans are demonstrating great disappointment in the fact that Romney is clearly going to end up their nominee, you can bet your house that they will turn in a tsunami of support for the chance to beat their nemesis, Barack Obama.

ReplyDeleteMy question for the whinier set is just who they think on the right is the answer to their particular gripe if they have become so 'disillusioned' with President Obama's accomplishments to date. The picture should become even more clear when one envisions that alternative as a Romney or a Gingrich presidency. Even a 78 year old Paul who would make a VP choice very interesting AGAIN.
I have printed out numerous articles detailing the President's record and given copies to some of my liberal friends who mostly get their 'news' 30 minutes a day from the networks. It's amazing how many who consider themselves informed aren't. The most frequent comment is 'whoa!' as they had no idea of his many successes but were very familiar with the much louder coverage of his 'failures'.

I am concerned about social justice, not party loyalty. If a third party suddenly rears its head and is more committed to social justice AND shows an ability to elect people, I'll give the Dems the finger faster than you can say "FUCK YOU!" If the Dems drag their asses on issues of social justice, why should I rally 'round their flag?
I give credit to President Obama when he does well, I just want him to go toe to toe with the GOP more often. When he does so, he generally wins. THAT'S why I don't understand his reluctance to do so more often. I would think that kicking Boehner's orange ass - like he just did regarding the tax withholding extension - would be rather enjoyable and might be something he'd want to do everyday.
I guess I disagree with George Clooney, too. Hey Clooney, get in line. I disagree with many more people than just you.

ReplyDeleteThe Adjustment Bureau was a really dumb movie - and to think that some people actually believe that God or "The Chairman" would actually cause accidents to harm innocent people simply because he didn't want Matt Damon to be with the woman he wanted to be with, because if he was, he would lose the desire to become President.
Being intelligent enough to understand that not supporting this president with all we've got from now until election day or else risk total disaster for this country is not being in lockstep with anyone. That is not hyperbole, that is the truth of the matter. We cannot afford another Republican in the White House. As much as some like to pretend there isn't a difference between Republicans and Democrats (seriously?), there is.

Ahem, with cuts to LIHEAP, it's difficult for me to get totally enthusiastic about President Obama and most other national (from other states) Democrats.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats other than my state's DFL, Democratic-Farmer-Labor, politicians. I like Minnesota's two US Senators and my area's DFL US Congresswoman. Also Minnesota's governor.
While I'll vote for President Obama again, it's more I'll vote for him in some ways only as the tea alternative is way worse. I'm tired of austerity cuts being proposed by other national Democrats, from other states and within POTUS administration.
Pandering mostly to please the tea. Pandering to also please those always important middle class and independent voters. Also to please those still employed and working people.
Oh yeah, middle class and employed, I used to be that at one time. Now I'm a poor person who votes for some other national Democrats who often act more Republican than Democrats with any spine or caring about seniors, the poor, vulnerable and disabled people, the under-employed or unemployed, including the 99'es, the long term forgotten, not counted, unemployed.
Again, I do hope President Obama wins in 2012, yet I also hope he'll care more about most of us now forgotten people at the bottom.

I am troubled by the vehemence that some on this forum are quick to hurl if anyone expresses anything other than obsequious, fawning praise toward the president. I fail to see how such a position benefits anybody in the long term.
Healthy debate is ALWAYS preferable to coerced conformity.
