Okay first off I have to say that like MANY progressives I have found Huntsman to be the LEAST objectionable clown in the GOP clown car. However if in fact Huntsman himself is responsible for this despicable ad, and he made it just so that he could play the victim, while at the same time smearing a fellow candidate for his party's nomination, then we have to take a step back and look at this guy with fresh eyes. Because if THIS is the kind of underhanded, manipulative, bullshit he is capable of pulling, we do NOT want him anywhere near this nomination! (Segment of Rachel's show that talks about ad is around the 6:42 mark)
I don't care how pretty his daughters are, or how reasonable he seems on the podium, if true THIS indicates a truly horrible human being.
Your thoughts?
Agreed on all points!
ReplyDeleteMr. Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteMcCain just stated that choosing Palin was the best decision he had made. Huffpost article.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/10/mccain-palin-best-decision_n_1197772.html
What!?!?!?!?!
If he did that, yes it is bad. But don't kid yourself in thinking this type of stuff isn't done all the time. Candidates at that level have all been involved in some underhanded maneuvering.
ReplyDeleteAren't ambassadorships one step up from lobbyists?
ReplyDeleteIf he did do it or if Paul is behind this lie that huntsman made the commerical...hell, they are all idiots, so who cares.
I can see both of them playing this silly trick.
Haha OMG
ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON -- John McCain has no regrets about the biggest and most controversial decision of his unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign. Speaking to Sean Hannity on Tuesday evening in New Hampshire, McCain said naming Sarah Palin his running mate was "still the best decision I've ever made."
"McCain was on Hannity's show"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/10/mccain-palin-best-decision_n_1197772.html?ref=politics
Unlike some of his bad decisions like carrying water for Lincoln Savings and Charles (Keating 5) Keating.
Well, I'm just happy that the Palin curse is still in effect re: Gingrich.
ReplyDeleteRomney took New Hampshire and it has caused his batteries to get a needed boost. He's almost human.
OT: This just up on HuffPo --
ReplyDeleteMcCain on Hannity: "Choosing Sarah Palin was the best decision I've ever made."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/10/mccain-palin-best-decision_n_1197772.html
That's one hell of an admission.
Agree with G. In the early days I also thought of Huntsman as the only viable GOP player. Didn't take long after watching him on the campaign stumps to discover that he is Romney without as much corp raider experience. On stage he's all milk and honey fooling the general public but up close he's an Obama basher at every opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI've lost count of hearing my liberal friends express positive opinions of Romney because he 'looks' presidential. None would vote for him but it is an indicator of how easily the uninformed independents and disgruntled can be swayed by looks. Think Ted Bundy. He 'looked' like a nice guy too.
In the vast numbers of unemployed, unhealthy, uninsured, underpaid and working poor of this Nation I can't believe there are no republican voters in the mix. Until some of them wake up to the fact that they will go down right along with the dang dems they despise when they support the anti-government, anti Democracy rhetoric of the right.
OBAMA 2012 WARREN 2016
Tebow is on his knees right now thanking God the "Palin Endorsement Curse" was lifted from him.
ReplyDeleteAnd woe be the poor dumb bastard smuck who received the Palin Endorsement Curse.... and might that be Newt Gingrich who was recently cursed by Todd Palin?
Let's see how Newt is doing in New Hampshire... ummm not to good... I wonder if he too will decide to suspend his candidacy?
I remember WAY back when this silly reality show started, hearing that the Obama camp feared Huntsman more than the others, given how the guy CAN come off as halfway SANE when he speaks in public.
ReplyDeleteWhat everyone has learned since, is that SANITY is not what the Republicans are looking for, in a candidate.
Indeed, the crazier one can sound, the higher up the ladder he gets, with the Neo-KKK "base."
That would explain such out there comments, as the Mittens quote of how much he liked firing people. If a DEMOCRAT said such a thing, it would be the last time a microphone was aimed at his stupid mouth.
Remember that Huntsman introduced Palin as McCain's VP pick, and he may have seen how successful it was for her to play the victim--the lamestream media and all that. As Huntsman's three eldest daughters did produce an awfully crude spoof of Herman Cain, and the "Manchurian" ad has so many home snaps and videos, it seems possible if not likely that this was a homemade effort which tries hard to be as politically incorrect as possible. To do this just to offset a snarky Ron Paul comment is unforgivably unclassy.
ReplyDeleteI suppose one question would be who has access to the Chinese video?
ReplyDeleteAnother would be who traced the source to Huntsman? Considering the amateur level of Paul's news letter and his under financed campaign, who does Paul have on his staff who could do the search?
Personally I will wait for some more reputable sources to say they have followed the internet trail of the video.
If Huntsman did this, he is truly stupid.
Would Obama send a truly stupid man to China, the nation with the most influence over N. Korea and the holder of most of America's debt?
That would be as stupid as Huntsman doing the video.
I have my problems with Obama, but stupid isn't one of them. Not even a little bit.
They're all horrible human beings. There. I said it. Truth hurts, Republicans, don't it?
ReplyDeleteyeah, no way. Ron Paul also denied knowing anything about his newsletters or his own book. He is a kook, and he is also a liar.
ReplyDeleteThis one has a very, very bad odor. Like it could have been dreamt up in wasilla. She made such good progress playing the victim could Huntsman have seen it work and take a cue?
ReplyDeleteMy initial reaction is that if someone who supports Huntsman cooked this up, the candidate wasn't in on it. I could be wrong, of course, but it just doesn't ring true to me.
ReplyDeleteRe: Huntsman being the least clowny for the clown car....I used to think that, too, then found out that he was FOR the ridiculous ending Medicare Paul Ryan plan. Now, me not like him so much.
ReplyDeleteoff topic - but current
ReplyDeleteAndrew Sullivan live-blog of NH primary:
9.31 pm. Sarah Palin has just called New Hampshire a "center-left" state, and says more nice things about Ron Paul. The wig is on straight tonight, mercifully.
Huntsman signed the Personhood pledge. He's as much in favor of government control of women's freedom as every other candidate.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g3_e8iNt4o
I don't understand why the Democratic Party hasn't made this a central issue and made the Republicans pay a political price for screaming 'freedom', 'small government', and 'balanced budgets' when they, most of all, want to end women's freedom.
I totally agree with your assessment.
ReplyDeleteMeh, just as I didn't believe Ron Paul did it, I don't believe Jon Huntsman did it. I do think that maybe a crazed Jon Huntsman supporter may have done it without his knowledge, but I don't believe either candidate got their hands dirty on that one.
ReplyDeleteRomney's on top right now, but not to worry -- he'll never be our President.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I just can't believe that Huntsman could be behind that ad.
ReplyDeleteRon Paul has already proven to be ethically challenged with his racist newsletter debacle. If that ad didn't come directly from the Paul campaign, then it came from one of his wacky supporters, IMHO.
Ron Paul gave his "victory" speech and he scared the hell out of me. He appeals to the same kind of mindset that a certain German did back in the 1930s. So simplistic; so wrong.
ReplyDeleteIf McCain is saying choosing Palin was the best decision he ever made, that's a tacit admission that all his other decisions were pathetic, crappy, stupid, moronic, awful decisions.
ReplyDeleteImagine THAT being the apex of one's political life.
I know Huntsman. I believe that his campaign did the negative ad. At the time it came out - he could not get any attention at all. He didn't have a lot of money to spend on ads. Playing the victim card made him the topic of the news, and interviews.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, he is fully capable of doing that.
If the media is willing to comment on the possibility that Huntsman manufactured this ad for his own victimhood, THEN PERHAPS THE MEDIA CAN ACCEPT THE FACT THAT PALIN IS NOT THE BIOLOGICAL MOTHER OF TRIGG.
ReplyDeleteBabygate is really NOT any more outlandish than the possibility of Huntsman having made this commerical himself !
With the current field of ignorant malignant narcissict running for the Republican party, Palin AND her antics are certainly no more egregious !
maybe his daughters put it together and he's covering for them...
ReplyDeletehe's as smarmy as the rest of the bunch from my view.
I agree with Curiouser's comment- Huntsman has a shady side, they all do.
ReplyDeleteWTF? Can someone please inform John McCain, Senator from Arizona, Maverick, philanderer, owner of too many manses to keep track of, and Loser to President Obama, that if he counts his marbles, a lot of them are missing"
Meghan, sweetie, I know you're busy on MSNBC "commenting", batting your eyelashes and stuff, but can you carve our two minutes from your lunch and make a quick call to Daddy or Mommy? The man thinks picking Screetch was the best thing he's done!!
WTF????
"Remember that Huntsman introduced Palin as McCain's VP pick"
ReplyDeleteOMGIF (It figures)
A whole pool of nothingness, insanity and destruction.
Troll, we don't fear stupid, so we have nothing to worry about in the Presidential position. Watch this avalanche. You will be shocked and amazed.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing don't start talking about "both sides do it" shit. You give no examples much less a viable link.
President Obama has better things to do than to play with these tire, old, racist, baggyass, stupid clowns.
You guys must remember that Huntsman said he would like to run as Bachmann's VP. That alone speaks volumes about the guy. Negative volumes.
ReplyDeleteWhat possible reason would the Ron Paul people have to blame this on Huntsman? Oh, wait...
ReplyDeleteHuntsman is just as disgusting as Romney. I do believe he is responsible for that ad.
ReplyDeleteHe is a sleaze anyway, President Obama gave him a job, and he turns around and runs against him.
He supports the "Ryan Plan" that makes him a rich, selfish, greedy asshole.
ReplyDelete
