Mitt Romney may turn out to be the first presidential candidate in history to be defeated by animal lovers uniting against him.
With so much divisiveness in the world, perhaps the one thing that unites ALL of us is that we love our pets. And we simply do not trust anybody who mistreats theirs.
Okay I have to post just one more and then I will stop.
Oh yeah, Romney's screwed!
Wow... Let's hope this one bites him in the ass!
ReplyDeleteI have six that will volunteer to bite him.
ReplyDeleteGrrrrrrrrrrrrr. God I hate this man.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how Sheamus felt - trapped on the top of the car, shitting in fear. I would never do this to my dogs. He is an heartless **$@#((((&&***
ReplyDeletefrom Aug 2011
ReplyDeletehttp://www.humanesociety.org/issues/pet_overpopulation/facts/pet_ownership_statistics.html
-There are approximately 78.2 million owned dogs in the United States
-Thirty-nine percent of U.S. households own at least one dog
(and many other types of pet statistics are on that web site)
Even FauxNEWS will trouble spinning the crate-gate facts.
Crate-gate is my current "strike up conversation with random stranger" tactic. For example, in the food store checkout line noting the purchase of dog food, I can say, "oh, you have a dog, how nice. You would never put YOUR dog on the car roof like Mitt Romney did." Spreading the word, one telling anecdote at a time.
Every time I think of Mitt Romney laughing at PETA disliking him, I think, Mitt, old boy, you have NO idea how many people will dislike the tale of Seamus and the crate on the car roof.
Rachel Maddow just gave these folks some great air time! Their Facebook site is getting lots of new likes as we speak!
ReplyDeleteMitt Romney's dog shit on his car in 1983 and he's still trying to clean it up - while he claims he's the right guy to clean up the river of shit behind George W Bush.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be nice and just call that a credibility gap.
It's funny how something identifies a candidate, even if it isn't the most important thing about him/her. Sarah never said that she could see Russia from her house, but when Tina Fey said that Palin could see Russia from her front porch, it summed up Sarah's lack of general knowledge and international policy experience.
ReplyDeleteThe dog represents Romney's lack of emotion, that he cares more about keeping on schedule, that he has no feelings, and extension, he looks plastic, it's about image. That dog will hound him, dog his footsteps and bite him in the butt. The dog really does have legs because it's hard to define how calculating Romney is. It's hard to define how he is so concerned about his image. But, he does not relate to ordinary people. $10,000. bet. We envy him. He has $250 million and 4 houses. He is out of touch. He did not work hard and earn those millions; he inherited his wealth. His father was head of American Motors and a former governor of Michigan.
We can all understand the heartless person who leaves his dog locked in the car in the parking lot. He doesn't care about the dog. Why even bring the dog along, just to lock him in the overheating car. Romney's lack of emotion is understood when he took over companies, firing the workers to slim down the payroll and make the company fit for the quick, profitable sale. It's not about people, it's about making money. No, we can't envy anyone as heartless as that.
@6:46 - GREAT strategy! Seriously! Love it! And it's a true story about Mitt Romney and his dog. What pet owner could condone it?

Rachel did a segment on this tonight and we now have a new definition for "Romney" in the urban dictionary.
ReplyDelete"To defecate in terror".
Funny how the other GOP contenders are spending millions trying to take down Romney over his policy issues, but ultimately, Mitt will lose the election because of Crate Gate!
ReplyDeleteKARMA, gotta love it!!
woofwoof !!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletecrategate is something most dog owners will be able to sink their teeth into. I 2 retired police canines that I have adopted and a catahoula that would love to meet up face to face with old .
Thanks for the link :)
Don't miss The Daily Show tonight.
ReplyDeleteThe opening segment with Jon and Wyatt was hilarious. They pulled up some old tape of Newt speaking wherein he was inserting both feet up to his asshole!!
Why didn't Sarah just question how he treats dogs? It would have been so much easier and she wouldn't have had to prepare and keep track of so many bullet points.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only shameful how Romney as the parent treated Seamus, but I'm disgusted with his adult children who to this day think it's funny.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure when but they were asked about this and they laughed.
Shows how the whole family in different ways to the Palin family, but they're all friggin' psychos. Must be in the Romney DNA.
Why do you think the Palins are on his ass? The only house pet they like is the "not retarded" one.
ReplyDelete"Crate-gate." LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteSeems the romnee treats all the "creatures" who he thinks are beneath him with disdain, whether it be dogs or working middle class people. Just goes to show that money can't buy everything, i.e. compassion.
FU, mittard!
Colacarat,
ReplyDeleteIs that a picture of a kit fox? Is it your pet?

Jon Stewart: Mitt Romney Wins NH! ‘While Still Having No One Like Him’
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewart-mitt-romney-wins-nh-while-still-having-no-one-like-him/
This is a hard one to get past for the Mittster!
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow just did a segment where she contrasted GHWBush and Clinton during a debate responding to a citizen question about how the recession had affected them personally. To be fair, Bush was the first one to respond so Clinton had the advantage. Still - Bush's response was first to generalize, then to challenge the questioner about what she really meant. Clinton really connected. Watching it, I felt kinda sorry for Bush because he just didn't get it.
ReplyDeleteThen, she showed Mitt with Matt Lauer talking about the dog thing. And Mitt had the same problem GHWBush did - he just didn't get what people were concerned with. So all the diversions and lying and spinning ("Seamus likes his kennel@" "My dog likes fresh air." "It was a completely airtight kennel!") just don't freaking connect. Mitt just doesn't understand what people are so upset about - because he is just not a compassionate guy.
Why didn't Sarah just question how he treats dogs? It would have been so much easier and she wouldn't have had to prepare and keep track of so many bullet points.
ReplyDeleteYou know why? Because Sarah doesn't get it either. She doesn't have a sense of empathy or compassion for a pet, the same as Mitt doesn't.
I've always noticed that the Palins don't have pets.
Sarah didn't comment about the way that Romney treated his pet because her own track record leaves something to be desired. Sarah was for shooting wolves from airplanes. There must be a nicer way to kill fish than smacking them around, especially when your kids don't seem thrilled with the idea. Sarah's idea of respect for wildlife is posing with bloody animals that someone just shot. Why would Sarah car about a dog on top of the car? She was raised in a house filled with dead animals, with a pile of bones outside.

So the obvious question is...Why didn't the asshole fill the dog crate with luggage and have all that strapped to the top of the car?
ReplyDeleteSeamus could have ridden inside the car with the family that "loves" him so much?
@7:11 Anony
ReplyDeleteWhy $arah Palin didn't challenge?
She has no relationship with animals. She has no cat, no dog - a puppy she was given was returned to the giver.
She can't even manage children.
Lynne 9:51
ReplyDelete"So the obvious question is...Why didn't the asshole fill the dog crate with luggage and have all that strapped to the top of the car?"
-----------
That's applying LOGIC!!
Rethugs have deleted that from their vocabulary. Actually -- they've possessed the 'logic' characteristic!!
Romney is also a closet cat juggler... he learned it in Mexico from his cousins. Mister Ed
ReplyDeleteAnd Romney justifies it all by saying how much Seamus likes to ride in the crate on top of the car because he spends a lot of time in the crate while he is home.
ReplyDeleteSure dogs, particularly large dogs like Seamus just love to spend time in crates in which they can't even stand up!!!!!!!
They say every dog has his day. Well, Seamus, your day is November 6, 2012.
ReplyDeleteJust think of the logistics of getting a dog filled crate on top of a car. Seamus did not hop into the crate on top of the car (as some morons have suggested) as it would scratch the shit out of the paint.
ReplyDeleteHe was put into the crate, picked up by two or three of the men in the family, put on top of the car (not easy no matter how tall you are or how long your arms are), and strapped down.
I don't know about you, but as a 6' tall male I have a hard time picking up my dog's crate when she is in it because she wiggles around. Would it not have been easier, smarter, more humane to put the dog in the back of the station wagon and the inert luggage on the luggage rack?
Putting aside how inhumane monster Mitt is, how stupid does this make the whole family look then and to this day? Does anyone really want someone as dumb as this asshole as president?
Maybe we should shove romney into a crate, strap him onto the top of the car and drive through NH?
ReplyDeleteAlso, too...use the gop clown car so they really make a statement.
You can tell a lot about how a person treats their pets. Ask Michael Vick.
OMG, that puppy is so cute. We have three dogs, and they are family. I once saw a bumper sticker that read, Be the person your dog thinks you are. Dogs love unconditionally, never hold a grudge, and trust completely. They are some of the only animals on the planet who seek the companionship of humans. To treat a dog like luggage is inhuman and speaks volumes about Romney's character.
ReplyDeleteTo that end, there are much more troubling issues about Mitt Romney. The fact that he won't release tax returns, and wiped all electronic records of his term as Governor is a huge red flag. His time as the King of Bain was spent as a venture capitalist, and he distorts it to say he was a job creator. Mitt has sat on both sides of the fence of just about every social and political issue. He has been running for president for the last six years and stil doesn't get that people really just do not like him. He lacks self awareness, empathy, and the ability to admit he was wrong. He's an
empty suit, who has said anything and everything to get elected.
Check out his current foreign policy advisors- all Bush and McCain neocons who are just itching to start another war with Iran. This has gone unrorted so far in my opinion, and should scare the shit out of you.
Mitt thinks corporations are people, says he likes to fire people, and believes underwear is magic. The Seamus stuff is just icing on the cake.
There is no such thing as an "airtight" crate. Doesn't exist. Crate manufacturers design crates to PROMOTE air flow.
ReplyDeleteJust another example of how Romney thinks that the American people are stupid and he can just hoodwink us.
How 'bout some snake oil with that Bain story?
I can't believe that Romney cared more about protecting his "luggage" that he crammed into his car, while putting the dog on the roof.
ReplyDeleteSo, I guess Governor Romney accepted as fact, whenever anyone breaking a law in MA - that they didn't know it was against MA law?
ReplyDelete"With so much divisiveness in the world, perhaps the one thing that unites ALL of us is that we love our pets. And we simply do not trust anybody who mistreats theirs."
ReplyDeleteI think that may be true - and that's what just baffles me about the way so many among us are so blase' about the Bush administration's use of torture.
If anyone had done that to a dog or a kitty people would be outraged. But since it was done to human beings
...it was no big deal.
They TORTURED human beings...
and nobody seems to care.
How can that be?
I love it. My beagles would be very proud if we wore the t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteWhat Mitt Romney did was so beyond the pale. When we travel our dogs are cared for in a very nice kennel. It's not cheap but we know they are being well cared for. The Romney family could well have afforded to have the dog boarded at a kennel.
I wonder how often they did that to the dog or how many family dogs were treated that way. It probably wasn't the first time only the time he got caught.
I post there as my dog! lol
ReplyDeleteWakeUpAmerica,

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, about fifty years ago, my family would travel to Vermont about 8 hours in a big 'ol station wagon with two boys and a friend for each of us and coincidentally, an Irish Setter in the "way back".
ReplyDeleteNever once did my father even consider putting the dog on the roof - although, I'm sure there were times he wanted to put one us kids up there but that would mean repacking the luggage.
Yes, it does speak to the man's character - not only that his character was questionable several years ago for doing this to a dog for twelve agonizing hours, but that it's still questionable today in that he continues to insist there was NOTHING WRONG with what he did.
ReplyDeleteSarah would not question him on this because I see her as the type of person who would do the exact same thing to a dog and not think anything was wrong with it. :(
ReplyDeleteIn an effort to downplay this story, Romney keeps making it worse. He now states that it was perfectly fine to strap the dog in a kennel to a roof because, "He was in a kennel at home a great deal of time as well."
ReplyDeleteCan someone please tell me why this robot didn't just get a stuffed toy animal instead of a living creature? What on earth did poor Seamus ever do to get relegated to a kennel almost all the time, INCLUDING ON THE ROOF OF A CAR FOR A TWELVE-HOUR TRIP????
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/11/gingrich-dogs-romney-with-pet-story/
No way no how did that dog jump up onto the roof of the car and into the "airtight crate"...but of course he was "used to being in a crate because he was in one most of the time at home"...come on Willard, you can do better than that - or maybe not?
ReplyDelete"Seamus was used to the crate." So did WIllard force the dog to live in the cate ALL of the time?
ReplyDeleteRIP Seamus. You will have your day.
spreadingromney.com
ReplyDeletecheck it out.
BTW Seamus "retired" to his sister's place in California because it had more room. I'm wondering if the dog outlived his usefulness, got annoying or whatever and was sent to the sister when they got tired of him or didn't want to bother with him anymore.
Now what beloved family pet would be given away (even to family member who lives states away) for any reason? Most people keep their beloved dogs even when they get old and sick. They do everything for them. But Seamus? Nope. He got inconvenient and was sent away. Lucky the sister took him in. I have no doubt if no place could be found, Romney would have simply taken him to the vet and paid to have him put down.
And *THAT* is my problem with Romney's character. It is a character flaw that is undefendable.
It's obvious he's brought his son's up the same way, since they seem to think Seamus' treatment was funny rather than abusive.
No, I certainly don't want this man in the Oval Office.
WHEW! Just finished watching that Romney documentary "The Evisceration of Milt" by Some-shadowy-group-paid-by-Newt-or-some-other-Republicans-Pac!
ReplyDeleteThe "Obama Machine" (H/T to Baldy Palin) is going to have a ball with this shit! I don't know what was worse...hearing the stories of those middle class, salt of the earth folks or watching Milt laughing and grinning at what he was doing to these people and enjoying it!
His grin always looks like he's grimacing in pain instead of a smile! The man is truly a ZOMBIE! Somebody sucked all his brains out of his giant skull because the man has no SOUL!
Seamus didn't stand a chance against this guy!
I don't think Seamus spent much time in the crate. Looks like his home away from home was the dog pound. It appears to me that old Mitty's family may not be good doggie owners.

ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as an "airtight" crate. Doesn't exist. Crate manufacturers design crates to PROMOTE air flow.
If it was "airtight" - Seamus couldn't have survived 12 hours inside of it. Also, if it was "airtight", I would assume that the body fluids wouldn't leak out of it either. So that wind must have been blowing all over Seamus and pushed the fluids right out of the crate as Romney drove on.
Rachael and others have come up with an old interview of Romney where he comments that Shemus crate was air tight, and the large dog "jumped up there", I believe was the exact quote, to get into the crate.
ReplyDeleteSecond to the extremely selfish and thought less treatment of the dog is the rapidity of Romney coming up with the lie that the crate was "airtight" as well as his expectation that the comment would be accepted as true.
Also too, would a man like Romney let a large dog climb onto and over of the hood of his car and scramble onto the roof to voluntarily enter the airtight crate?
Not likely, it would scratch the paint.
None of us would let a large dog scramble around on the hood and roof of our cars, yet Romney expects us to believe that he would.
He will lie about anything. And expects us peasants to bow our heads and let the lies pass as Gospel.

ReplyDeleteI'm on a misson from Dog,
Let's all do our part to make this NUMBER 1 on Google!!!
As a dog owner and overall animal lover, whenever any human being abuses or neglects animals, it does speak directly to thier personal character.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that he laughs it off and blames peta for over reacting just disgusts me more.
And that he did this in front of his family, and no one dared speak up for Seamus, puzzles me more. I have to wonder what life was like as a spouse or child in his home.
To quote Bob Barker, another animal lover, and treanslate it into GOP lingo-
Remember, spray ane NEWTer your Romney's, it's the humane thing to do.
I just don't understand that. I don't even own a dog but I can see that is just cruel. Dogs are 'people' animals. How could he even come up with the idea? Does the man not have ga-zillions of dollars? He couldn't think of another way to transport his dog? Poor thing, no wonder he was going to the bathroom. What's scarier is that Romney sees nothing wrong with it.
ReplyDelete
