Nancy Pelosi wants us to "Stop Stephen Colbert." And believe it or not, I agree.

I would love to see this DISCLOSE act passed, and if you feel the same then you can add your name as a citizen co-sponsor by clicking here.

This is from a woman who supports bills to her husbands benefit. Though I do agree with this. She's just part of the hypocritical left.

Steven Colbert is a National Treasure and is doing more to right the wrongs in this country than most politicians. His campaign against the Super Pac has been a wonderful exercise in exposing the Supreme Court's lousy decision. LOVE THAT MAN!!

If there was a "like" button, I'd click.

  4. That has to be satire. It has to be. Listen to how she is talking ... and the thing with Newt on the couch (he is not her friend); part of Newt's opponents' slams on Newt are that he "sat with Nancy Pelosi on a couch" - probably happened by chance one time. I think this must not be a serious ad.

Done and done. Both husband and I signed. We will encourage others to do so as well.

4:18 - I hope your feelings towards Pelosi do not cloud your better judgment and hold you back from stopping the money.

I think it is commendable that she is doing this, given your statement. She is also for the STOCK act with stronger restrictions than the GOP want in it.

Daisydem, go to link. This is a real bill. Make yourself count against the Big Money Interest. Please.

  8. Daisydem the "attack" on Colbert is tongue in cheek, but the effort to undo what the Supreme Court did to politics in this country is dead serious.

    Everybody loves Stephen.

This is a great bill. I hope everyone will read what's on the link and sign!

The more Colbert does to expose the mockery and ludicrousness of SuperPACs, the better for the American public.

  11. Thanks Gryphen. I was reading this post before my first cup of coffee or my allergy nose spray! I thought Nancy was attacking Colbert! I happen to love them both! I will sign the DISCLOSE.

"I hear he doesn't even like kittens." LOL. As always, Colbert rules!

  13. Isn't it something that the left side is using humor to address serious issues and the right uses fear and vitriol!! I have a feeling a few righties might get "punked" by this too!! They will support the bill thinking that they are against Colbert not realizing that that is the point. I still get a chuckle when I think about how Colbert pulled one over at the White House Correspondents Dinner in '06!!

I had to knock my husband upside the head back then because he came home and found me watching Colbert and said 'How can you watch this your a liberal?" I looked him in the eye and said "Just listen to what he's saying and use some critical thinking. I know it's hard but you can do it...it's SARCASM! "

He wasn't very political when I met him but he's coming around.

P.S. No husband was harmed by actually being "smacked" during that conversation.

  14. Nancy Pelosi has a wicked sense of humor, and I thought the video was great. Of course, I'll sign, and of course, I love Stephen, but that kitten thing...I don't know.

Colbert doesn't like cute little kittens? I am aghast! We need angry villagers with pitchforks and torches!

  17. I signed the petition, but I have to say it was pretty ironic to see a place where people could sign as 'anonymous' on it. That seems to miss the point --- if you can't even provide full disclosure as to who you are when signing a petition, then it kinda reinforces the nondisclosure of contributors to the superpacs. If we expect others to expose who they are, then those of us demanding that, should be able to state who we are.

I really like Nancy Pelosi. She did a great job as Speaker of the House; I hope she gets to do it again for the next Congress. And Stephen Colbert is hysterical. I especially love the conversation between Colbert and Jon Stewart about how the Super Pac works or is not supposed to work. It explained a lot. You can accomplish a lot with some wit and whimsy. A lot better than lies and smear tactics; but the Republicans will never learn.

As others have said, Stephen Colbert (with some help recently from Jon Stewart) has done so much to direct people's attention to the folly of Citizens United. (He also tried to get the question of whether corporations are people onto the South Carolina ballot, but couldn't). The discussions between him, Stewart, and Trevor Potter regarding what kind of foolishness SuperPACs allow have been so enlightening.

    I signed.

I love Speaker Pelosi and hope to see her back at the helm, with her nose to the grindstone. She's one smart woman.

Thanks for bringing this to people's attention. I got it in my email, and it's the real deal.

  22. Despite insistent attempts to malign her during her four years as Speaker of the House, the California congresswoman turns out to have been arguably the most effective person in that post in U.S. history.

And it’s not just rah-rah Democrats saying so.

“We’re looking at an extraordinary set of accomplishments over a brief period of time,” said Norman Ornstein, resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

“She ranks with the most consequential speakers, certainly in the last 75 years.”

And she was never fined for ETHICS violations (isn't it MIND BOGGLING that the NEWT uses THAT JOB to hang his hat on?? If I was fined by my peers and then quit on my constituents - the day I took office - I don't think I'd be too quick to bring it up. This schmuck is running a PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ON IT!?!?!? Lunar colony, indeed)

    Also,

she is SEVENTY -ONE YEARS OLD!!!

I can't IMAGINE the Wasilla Wacko looking (or SOUNDING) even remotely human at that age.

Sarah can't hold a candle to Nancy Pelosi's accomplishments, in life or in government.
