Oh, I have to imagine this is going to get Rick Santorum's mixture all frothy!

Photo courtesy of the Huffington Post.
The above is a picture taken during the welcoming home ceremony for Marines who had been deployed overseas.

Here is what the Marine, Brandon Morgan, had to say about the photo courtesy of Joe My Blog:

To everyone who has responded in a positive way. My partner and I want to say thank you. Dalan, the giant in the photo, can't believe how many shares and likes we have gotten on this. We didn't do this to get famous,or something like that we did this cause after 3 deployments and four years knowing each other, we finally told each other how we felt. As for the haters, let em hate...to quote Kat Williams, everyone needs haters, so let them hate. We are the happiest we have ever been and as for the whole PDA and kissing slash hugging in uniform...it was a homecoming, if the Sergeants Major, Captains, Majors, and Colonels around us didn't care...then why do you care what these random people have to say? In summation thank you for your love and support. I received a lot of friend requests off this. I don't just accept requests so if your request was because of this post message me and let me know. Goodnight all, and Semper Fi." --Brandon Morgan

Damn! You just know a photo like this is going to drive the Religious Right and conservative Republicans CRAZY!

Personally I think it is great.

As a flaming heterosexual I kind of like this one better.

But what can I say? That's just me.

I think the kiss is great... Truly shows their emotion and I wish them the very best. Ditto the lesbian couple pictured below.

That said, whether it is a male and female, two females, or two males, I am a little uncomfortable with it extending beyond a kiss (mounting each other in embrace) in public. I can't help feeling that way. Kiss, hug, caress--that is wonderful... But can they leave the rest for a more private moment?

I think the guy had to be picked up - the other fella is very tall.:)

I feel the same way. I am nit one to do PDA's beyond a kiss and a hug, and I'm straight.

    3. Uh-- hello-- do you have ANY idea what a homecoming is to those of us in the military? Especially those who are deployed overseas? I'd like to see YOU go without seeing or talking to your significant other for months at a time (my family is submarines-- I go months without phone calls, pictures... I'm lucky if I get a goddamn email).
PDA is one thing. They aren't making out in the middle of the JC Penny furniture section. This is a homecoming. And seeing as how everyone still has their clothes on in this picture, seems as though they DID keep "the rest" for private.

Are we seeing the same photos? All I see is two couples kissing, caressing and all are fully clothed.
I don't see blatent sexuality. Ok, one has a shorter fellow who needed a boost, but it's no different than a tall heterosexual man lifting his shorter heterosexual wife to give her a kiss.

These couples have sacrificed as much as their heterosexual brothers and sisters, they've been seperated for long tours of duty, and for the first time in history, it's "legal" to embrace and kiss openly.
As someone mentioned, they're not swinging from the chandeliers in a family restaurant, it's a homecoming, a little lattitude and respect is usually given in these events.

My husband and I aren't big fans of PDA's for ourselves, but if we'd been away from each other for so long, after having to hide our love for each other, I'd be much less reserved than these couples.

Flaming hetero here too, but what's not to like in both these photos? It's so wonderful seeing people in love...especially in uniform!

It was a homecoming! They were in a war zone! They were celebrating and showing love.

Obviously too much PDA, gay or straight , makes people squirm, but this is a HOMECOMING! Come on!

Make love not war, I always say.

Count me in among the "straight but not narrow" who appreciate the fact that people can show their unmitigated joy upon the safe return of someone they love.
Furthermore, this "little old fruit fly" had herself a chuckle this morning with the wordplay of the returnee being "lei'd" (presented with a flower lei) upon his return, right there in the gym.
And I can just visualize Mr. Brandon running to his mate, being scooped up, and no one else in that gym paying any attention, because the were too involved with their own homecoming emotions.

And that, my friends, is really the much bigger picture.

2 coules truly united after time away from each other and kissing :) whats not to like. Been in a few airports where families have met their loved ones returning from war and these reunions are not ucommon, just glad that samesex couples can show the same emotions in public that hetero couples can and do. These touching moments should remind ALL of us of the sacrifices that the loved ones and our servicemen and women make for the rest of us.

    Sorry, 4:15 a.m. I don't believe you.

Look at these AP photos. http://cryptome.org/info/ik36/iraq-kill36.htm
Scroll down to almost the bottom. See the one on the left - photo of Daniela and Aron Golden?

Do you have a problem with it?

And let's not forget this one: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/02/homecoming-photo-of-gay-marine-kissing-boyfriend-goes-viral/

    Or this one:

That is an extremely unfair assumption. Nothing in that poster's comment was suggestive of that.

I think it's unfair, also. People have different levels of comfort with open display of affection. That is NOT homophobia. Latent or otherwise. That is their right, let it go.

That said, I LOVE THOSE PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both pictures are fantastic! I have no problems seeing people show love for their love - after being apart it would be sad if they couldn't greet with a kiss! (And if members of the religious [ha!] right gets their knickers in a knot, big fat hairy deal. Deal, bigots - your time is ending!)

It doesn't bother me to see people kissing in public but these two photos irk me. They appear to be staged, shot, and distributed for political reasons. It takes most of the awwww away. That said, I'm relieved that unfair legislation is being deemed unconstitutional and gay people are being vindicated.

Now, if only Anchorage could get on the right side of history and pass the equal rights initiative.

Awwwww, the photo's of 2 lover's joy at being reunited after deployment irks you. How sad - here, let me give you a hanky. Boo freaking hoo. As a former military wife, there is so much excitement pent up at seeing a loved one after months of separation. That joy comes out in different forms but trust me, I don't believe they really cared who was looking and I highly doubt that they were faking it for "publicity purposes".
I think it LOVELY! It's so great that gays are comfortable enough to show affection towards their loved ones without fear of reprisal. Flaming hetero woman here and boy I'd be jumping up on that man's arms too if he wanted me. He is yum, yum....lol.

Do you mean the "Anchorage equal rights initiative- with the exception of PDA's by active military after long deployments" bill? Is THAT the right side of history?

Mitt says he won't set his hair on fire to win.

    http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/david/romney-not-willing-light-my-hair-fire-win

"You know, it's very easy to excite the base with incendiary comments," the former Massachusetts governor explained. "We've seen throughout the campaign that if you are willing to say really outrageous things that are accusative and attacking President Obama that you're going to jump up in the polls."

"You know, I'm not willing to light my hair on fire to try and get support," Romney said. "I am who I am."

I bet I know someone who would do that.

Would it be such a bad thing to require teh gays to submit to invasive ultrasound examinations before permitting such PDAs? Maybe Rick "GOOGLE ME NOW!!!" Santorum is right (or FAR right) that this country needs a cabinet level Homo Department to register, track, regulate, prosecute and control homersexual behavior at the national, state, regional, county, city, neighborhood and street level". After all, you let teh gays kiss in public, it won't be long before they want to treated jus like everybody else.,,,

I love these photos, it's about time. I don't see them as "posed" for "political" purposes, couples have had PDA's like this in all wars. The only reason it's big news is because of the repeal of DADT in the military. Someday, and I hope it's soon, walking down the street holding hands, stealing a kiss, caressing a loved one's face, and raising families will be as commonplace and accepted as it is now for "Flaming Heterosexuals".

The world will always welcome lovers.
