So this is the kind of "entertainment" being shown at CPAC this year.

The film is called, and I almost cannot believe this, "Runaway Slave." And seems to be written to alleviate white guilt over the treatment of black in American and then blame their continued oppression on the fact that they did not pursue the "American dream" with the proper amount of vigor.

Here is a description of the film from the website:

The film’s central figure is Rev. C.L. Bryant, a self-professed “runaway slave. A former NAACP chapter president in Garland, TX, C.L. abandoned an organization he felt was more about political posturing, and less about civil rights. As a former Democratic Radical who escaped the bondage of Progressivism and denounced the shackles of entitlements, he has committed himself to helping others secure the blessings of liberty that are guaranteed by the Constitution with his new found conservative values.

Rev. Bryant takes viewers on an historic journey across America that traces the footsteps of runaway slaves who escaped along routes that became known as the Underground Railroad to freedom. But in the film, he travels a “new underground railroad” upon which Black Conservatives are speaking out against big government policies which have established a “new plantation” where “overseers” like the NAACP and so-called “civil rights” leaders keep the Black community 95 percent beholden to one political party.

As a white person in American I found this preview to be extremely offensive, so I can only imagine how it will be received by African Americans.

Of course like just about EVERYTHING that comes from conservatives, the focus of this film, which features such conservative black "stars" as Herman Cain, Star Jones, and Teabagger Allan West, is to shear the sheep.  And let's face it, there are going to be plenty of white folks who will pay to have their fundamental racist beliefs about black folks reinforced.

I have to assume that this film will make the speakers listed at this event like Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Andrew Breitbart, and of course, Sarah Palin, feel right at home.

Maybe David Duke will show up and give this filmmaker an honorary white robe to wear around his house?

The Rev Uncle Tom will also be celebrated and vaunted by such an elite crowd also too. He'll be put forth as a beacon as a shield against their prejudicial and racist policies and hatred of safety nets.

This teach a man to fish, boot strap pulling bullshit only works when you have a level playing field. It just doesn't exist. What exists are trust babies like Trump and Romney telling us they made their own wealth and work harder than anyone else.

Meet the new soft-shoe dancer, he'll be up there like Herb, Allen West and Michael Steele.

I find it hysterical that a woman who used abortion as regular birth control and was a thief, a man who sexually harassed and attacked women and an ex-military man who was abusive to prisoners are the standard "black" bearers for the GOP. What, no Allen Keyes, the homophobe who kicked his gay daughter out of his home and refused to pay for her schooling?

And they are totally duping the white GOP. I believe one of Cain's associates told a media outlet that Cain was laughing at the people taking him seriously.
Some of these ex-liberals as they call themselves like the good Rev. know being a black democrat puts you in a room full of a multitude, but being a conservative asshole really makes you stand out. Money, money, money. (If you can stand looking at yourself in the mirror and listening to your dead ancestors spin in their graves.)

Fuck all these slave-catching son of a bitches and buck dancers. My parents had to sit in the back of the bus for us to watch this shit go down?

Freedom Works, but of course. This is so disgusting on so many levels. He is just a person looking to fill a niche trying to make a buck and being encouraged and backed by a group who is taking their running game right from The Book of Ailes. When the numbers for the black population in this country start to improve in education, crime, welfare, housing, etc., then we can start to talk about change. This guy better watch his back. The ignorant white folk will never accept the black man, except only long enough to use them as a tool and take their money. We are going to have to wait for those pigs to die off and hope their kids can break free.

I didn't know where else to put this but if you want to protest against the Susan G. Komen Foundation, you can donate as little as $5 to PP and have an honor card sent to:

    Karen Handel
    c/o Susan G. Komen Foundation
    P.O. Box 650309
    Dallas, TX 75265-0309

This was an idea someone posted on their FB page. What a wonderful statement to flood SGK with honorary donations to PP.

Also, too SGK is pandering to the RWNJ crowd by selling pink handguns. Sick.

See, how can all these right wingers possibly be racist when they can find all these nice dark people to shill for them? There can't possibly be any racism in the Republican party. Oh the irony.

I don't know this man's story or how he arrives at blaming a political party for choices, cultural and familial influences and generations of oppression.

I received forwarded email about people taking welfare to buy big screen tv's and xboxes. The most angry people need to believe only black people do this.

What I am familiar with is a white family with parents who were negative, poor role models, negligent, ignorant, who passed this on and relatives who enabled them. They work but due to low paying jobs qualify for medical for small children. Environment is a big influence.

OT When Bristol Palin as alleged role model teen mom mislead the public she bought and acquired so much on an entry level clerk's salary she caused harm, not good. She mentioned opportunities but ommitted a half million in income.

  9. He almost had me on board and ready to ride that Freedom Train until I saw Freedom Works and the begging for money at the end! NOT!!

Another sell-out idiot trying to get the left over scraps that Herm "PimpDaddy" Cain left on the floor! And that Star Parker is the one who had 4 or 5 abortions and was suppose to speak with Baldy after she quit being Gov...but Baldy was getting her face lifted off the ground so she canceled at the last minute and the church folk was PISSED!

Yes...I can see this film going over real big at CPAC! Of course if it ever makes it to the theaters it'll go the way of "Ayn Rand" and "The Undefeated"! HAH!

I do feel tied to one political party because I am a women that thinks what goes on in my uterus is my problem not the government's.

But I can not believe that this film takes the stand that African Americans can not think for themselves and commit to their individual political beliefs. That concept insults everyone's intelligence.

The crowd at CPAC is stupid enough to suck up this propaganda. Well, in this coming November election, we'll see how many African Americans bought into that idea... not many I think.

Wait till the GOP adopts Newt's job plan for young African Americans..

His plan is to hire them to tote his lobbying checks to the bank.

They can tote Mitt's dividend checks too.

Folks who are disappointed with Obama's performance and thinking of punishing him by not voting for him in 2012 -- A couple of things to consider: 1) With no third election to worry about and a Democratic congress, Obama will be bold about what he wants done. 2) The next President may appoint two new Supreme Court Justices, lifetime jobs, that we citizens will have to live with for a very long time. Vote Obama 2012!

At present, there is no reason for anyone not succeeding. You have to look at what possible teachings a person's elders tell their children. I've heard black woman say, in public after slapping their kids across the face (not saying this is behavior solely from black people though. don't assume it), that you son are entitled to "rich white fuckers' money."

THAT is what I mean by Obama-inspired mentality. I don't condemn Obama, as he can't control this like Palin can't control her fans. I only say that he inspires some people who feel they finally have a savior, someone to personally bring them up and provide for them.

That is dangerous and must be curbed.

It is extremely offensive for me as a black woman to hear folks like Allen West call himself the "Harriet Tubman" of modern times destined to lead me and other Democratic-voting blacks from the "plantation" or for folks like this clown to call himself a "Runaway Slave." He is nothing but a self-serving buffoon cut from the same cloth as Herman Cain, Ron Christie, Alan Keys, and Michael Steele. Likening themselves to people who actually experienced the gross hardships of slavery makes a mockery of the sufferings of those who actually lived it. In addition, because they use it to justify their allegiance to a party that has proven it cares about no one who's not wealthy, even white folks, it just exposes them for the bootlicking Uncle Tom's that they are.

    @6:48 a.m.

It's obvious that you used an example of a few blacks to paint all of us who voted for President Obama with a broad brush. People who work the welfare system come in all races, and it takes an ignoramus like you ignore that people like this existed long before President Obama came on the scene. For example, you must not know that most folks on welfare in this country are white, although a larger proportion of us are relative to our much smaller numbers. Just the same, any one of us can find ourselves in dire straits, so arrogance is not an appropriate attitude. Both the Obamas are a class act who have offered inspiration to countless numbers of folks of different races with their solid marriage and commitment to helping Americans of all stripes. Since you made the comment to the effect that there is no reason to succeed, why are the "red" (GOP-governed) states the ones with the most welfare, and why do folks of all races--including whites--find themselves in dire straits today? It's certainly not because they didn't try to do the right things to succeed.

Seriously, you think way too much of your ability to determine what is in the minds of others. Yours seems to be the mindset of those who have very little interaction with those who don't look like themselves. I worked 35 years in a row before I retired, receiving not one cent of unemployment compensation or welfare benefits. There are millions of other Black Americans like me. Just as some whites vote for candidates whose positions on issues align with theirs, so do Black Americans. There is no group in this country that knows that there is no political "savior" for them more than black citizens. Furthermore, it's highly insulting for someone to even think that a particular group of citizens is looking for a handout, when nothing is further from the truth. The majority of Black Americans want the same thing that other Americans do: the opportunity to work and provide for their families. Your comments indicate a key reason most blacks do not vote the republican ticket: You insult our intelligence, attribute qualities to us that are not accurate, think we should accept the insults, and vote for you anyway. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE. We're much more politically savvy than people like you think we are. We reject you and the GOP, and this will continue until you realize that we're due the same respect and consideration as everyone else in this society, because after all, our tax money helps to support it, too.

As hard as it might be to believe, Garland is probably one of the most diverse towns in Tx and most wouldn't have any use for his attitude. It doesn't matter where one lives anymore. Right crazy rears it's head everywhere. Anyway we aren't all RW crazy people here--although it seems so.
