Christianity done wrong, at the Reason Rally.

This individual was spotted cruising around the Reason Rally in Washington D.C, the other day.

I cannot imagine that he won over too many converts with that approach.

And of course you had these folks.

Once again, if you are trying to get people to leave Atheism for Christianity, kind of an EPIC FAIL don't you think?

I can only imagine what might have happened if any of the above individuals had run into these two attendees.

Like I said before, I REALLY wish I had been able to go.

Looks like tons and tons of godless pagan fun. And what could be MORE fun than that?

God is not smiling on these folks...in fact, HE denies knowing any of them, and they certainly do not KNOW Him.

The truth of the matter is they don't care what you believe in, and since they don't believe in God, they care less if your so called God is not smiling down on them.

O/T Please address this article that Pres Obama is giving away Alaska islands to Russia.

    http://www.westernjournalism.com/barack-obama-is-giving-away-oil-rich-alaskan-islands-to-the-russians/

I saw this on FB - some "friends" said Pres. Obama did this in secret.

According to the article and in light of the 1867 treaty with the Soviet Union, it's as if an Englishman were the first to climb Mount Everest making it automatically a part of England.

There was a new treaty in 1990, but the Soviet Union fell apart before it could be ratified.

This is just another Republican scare tactic to put fear into the one's who fall for this stuff, which usually are the undereducated.

No worries for us Alaskans. Sarah Palin is on her front porch keeping an eye on those islands and making sure that no one steals them from us. I sleep better at night knowing that she is keepin' an eye on the Russians, for Alaassskkaaaa, and Americuh, also too

      ;-)

  3. Ooh what a fun day! Knowledge is power! Science has more than likely saved the lives of most of those hate bearing 'children of god'. Yes, science. Not religion.

And they either don't wanna know about or don't care about it. In fact; if they had it their way we'd never have progressed this far. We'd still be fighting Galileo's and Da Vinci's of the world, not embracing them as the TRUE saviours

Gryphen, perhaps the pic of the "god hates you" gang isnt what it appears to be at first glance. I wonder how often authentic westboro douchebags actually proclaim that their female spokesperson is rockin' some male genitalia.

But I could be wrong. Perhaps these ARE real westborlians and their female spokesperson does, in fact, have a penis and, goddammit, they're not ashamed to tell everyone about it. In which case, I admire their flexible gender identity schema.

I think that truck is from my town!

I never would have thought it would make it all the way to D.C.

But seriously ya'll, I see about 20 vehicles like that all the time. My daughter takes pictures of them.

Christianity's "dirty little secret" is that most "Christians" never actually read the Bible.

If they did - there wouldn't be as many "Christians".

Oh please. That racist, homophobic Baptist church isn't converting anyone and probably doesn't even purport to be trying to do that. They are so far outside the norm it is pointless to offer them any attention at all.

As for reading the Bible, don't know where anyone heard that "dirty little secret", but the Christians I know most definitely read the Bible.

(No, we are not the book-thumping, crazy variety Christians that you all insist are the mainstream. They are not.)

If someone says they are Christian, I take them at their word.

If that "barometer" of faith is good enough in reference to the President from Christians, why doesn't it apply to the openly racist homophobic "Westboro Bapitst Church"?

On last night's Anchorage Baptist Temple broadcast, Jerry Prevo devoted an entire sermon to the issue of Prop 5. He suggested that the reason Anchorage's real estate market is not "under water" is because we don't have a Prop 5 like places in the lower 48. He also warned the "ladies" that there would not be separate restrooms any longer - anyone could go to either depending on if they "felt" male or female. He said that any member of the clergy that believed that god was not vengeful like the god of Sodom and Gomorrah was worshiping a "false, imaginary" god.

This wasn't just a hint on how the congregation should vote. This was a complete sermon on this issue.

Someone, please enlighten me on how this organization can continue to have tax exemptions on its many church properties and businesses.

And of course, with a complete lack of self-awareness, he proclaimed that the Anchorage Daily News should be required to register with APOC because of their reporting.

Love the kid standing right in the middle of the Westboro freaks with a great big sign saying their leader, Shirley Phelps, has a penis!!!

    (I always suspected as much!)

I would love to have a reason rally in every city and town. This is one group I'd attend regularly. Of course there will always be people who "believe" all atheists are heathens and sinners who must repent and join their church, because it's better than all the others etc etc etc.

I'm always on the lookout for lectures at local colleges, universities and schools that allow the public to audit their lecture series, especially scientists and authors. I always find stimulating conversations afterwards and learn so much or learn a new perspective on topics I thought I knew.
