Actually that is not a bad thing as I would much rather give my full attention to the movie and leave the worry about blogging about it for tomorrow.
However I thought that all of you who are already watching might want a place to discuss the movie and share your impressions.
So go ahead and do so here. Don't worry about giving away any plot lines as I think most of us have read the book, and of course ALL of us experienced the campaign in real time back in 2008.
I may not be able to review and post your comments for a little bit at first because I am supposed to be at dinner with my daughter at the newly opened Olive Garden as the movie starts on the east coast. But as soon as I arrive back home I will update the comments section.
Have fun, and a Happy Game Change day to all!
Tonight is payback for SP really thinking that Americans were dumb enough to care more about her silly Naughty Monkey pumps than about what came out of her mouth beginning with the Repub Convention speech in 2008. This is payback for thinking she could get away with saying things like she did not support the Bridge to Nowhere because Alaskans who noticed and spoke up would be too insignificant on the national stage to matter. Friends wonder why I am so obsessed with seeing Sarah Palin exposed. I am obsessed, as an Alaskan, because when I heard that she was picked to run for VP I felt like I had been kicked in the gut, because I knew how unfit she was to lead. It scared the heck out of me to think that the country I love could have such a person in a leadership position. It shamed me as an American that we had come to this. It made me sad for my kids and grandkids that the country I love had become so shallow. So tonight will be my vindication ... all the friends Outside who I emailed non-stop about SP might finally understand why I was obsessed with seeing her downfall. Let's hope we have learned our lesson.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that from another Alaskan.
DeleteHas taken much work to even get through to friends and relatives to even consider that she is a liar. They just can't believe the gas pipeline has not even had one shovel full of dirt dug and that the Bridge to Nowhere money was never returned to the Federal gov't.
When she winked during the debate it made me physically ill. Only the second woman ever to rise to that level in a presidential election and she WINKS at all the "joe six packs." It was shameful.
DeleteThat is the Sarah Palin brand of feminism. That is the Republican brand of feminism.
INVESTIGATE TODD PALIN!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, the sooner the better.
DeleteBecause Toad is a freaky little bitch boi..... and part of a prostitution ring.
BOYCOTT everything to do with the paylin$. Like Artic Cat snow machines. They (artic cat) should be given the elrushbo treatment, and Lifetime network also.
BOYCOTT, it's what all the cool kids are doing this spring!!!!
Couldn't resist, so called Time Warner to sign up for HBO -- discovered I could subscribe then cancel and be charged on a prorated basis. It should cost me about 53 cents to watch this movie.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking only to the value of watching Sarah, that is 52 cents too much - but hey, for the pleasure of boosting a movie that shows how unqualified she was (and is) it is quite the bargain.
Maybe the popularity of Game Change will nudge others to come forward with truthful, well-researched books and movies so Sister Sarah will finally be disgraced into silence.
I figured Faux News has kept her around only to profit from the fuss about the movie. Maybe now, it will find her of no use whatsoever. We can only hope. Only and hour to go until the Game begins.
Can we do this for computers too? (Color me stupid on stuff like this.)
DeleteDon't know. Hope so.
DeleteCocktails...check. Popcorn....check.
ReplyDeleteOther assorted snacks and popcorn as befitting the "librul eeleet" that I am....check.
45 minutes to go!
ReplyDeleteOf course I have to choose between missing opening night or watching the MN State High School hockey championship game and despite the fact the two finalist are Catholic Schools I think I better record the GC and catch the game live - if I try channel flipping I know I'll miss the best parts of both - enjoy the movie everyone - I'll have to read the posts and wait until the game is over to catch it.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin: How Alaska's Joan of Arc became America's Mean Girl
ReplyDeletehttp://www.alaskadispatch.com/article/sarah-palin-how-alaskas-joan-arc-became-americas-mean-girl?page=0,0
I wish people would call her what she is, an angry white woman.
DeleteThere is a link on that page to another dispatch article "Emails reveal Palin's attempt to overthrow Alaska GOP leader"
DeleteJill Burke | Jun 11, 2011
It looks like Sarah's wee wee-ing monkeys have left their footprint there.
Joan of Arc? Not hardly.
DeleteC4P having panic attacks LOL.
ReplyDeleteCheck their site on nonstop Game Change reviews by their fans.
I know. It's hilarious. Go Pee-ers! Stop this movie! LOL. They post a statement by the Reelz channel exec and praise him for showing the "Un-elected" starting tomorrow. What they fail to realize is that his statement ALSO clearly said that he would "trade movies with HBO" in a heartbeat.
DeleteWait a minute. I thought this was going to vindicate her. No, I thought it was historical fiction. No, I thought it was a sympathetic portrayal.
DeleteI guess Sarah Palin really IS ambivalent (although not on purpose, because she thinks ambivalent means the same thing as apathetic, not that she's apathetic. She's the opposite of apathetic about this movie).
Bloggers- Stay proactive. Jump on the chance to get the main message across when HP posts news of the movie. Mention the faked pregnancy and also plug Shailey's book, Boys will be Boys. HP can's censor it all and remain credible. Also be sure to mention this blog for everyone to learn more about Palin. While people's interests are up following the movie, this is an excellent opportunity to expose Palin's big deception. And that's what matters the most.
ReplyDeleteYes, I try to mention Shailey's book and Todd's pimping as much as I can, on HP.
DeleteShailey's book got 5 stars in all of the reviews.
DeleteGriff -
ReplyDeleteI'm in Anchorage area, don't have HBO on my satellite TV package, and have not found any friends with HBO and a recording device.
Is there going to be another way to see the movie later? I have to be at a dinner event through the evening, and I doubt they will have HBO on during the dinner!! (Might cause a little bit of Santorum-like throwing up among the dinner guests...)
I've heard that you will be able to get it on PPV pay per view tomorrow! NOt sure if that is true, but I have heard this.
DeleteMarch 10, 2012 – HBO continues its tradition of producing provocative docudramas about politics with the debut of the much discussed and anticipated “Game Change,” premiering Saturday night, March 10, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on HBO East and HBO Latino East (with Spanish subtitles); followed by airings on HBO West and Latino West at 9 p.m. Pacific Time. All four channels repeat the film three hours later.
DeleteHBO will repeatedly air “Game Change” through the weekend with two more showings on Sunday, March 11; plus showings nearly every day through March; and April 3, 7, 9, and 17.
“Game Change” will first be available via HBO On Demand starting on Monday, March 12. There is currently no date set for a DVD or Blu-Ray release.
Start looking for pirated content on the web tomorrow. I found some YouTubes already that are being taken down as fast as you can find them. Otherwise, subscribe to Bittorent or some other web content site that offers things "off the grid".
DeleteI've heard of groups renting a hotel room with HBO.
DeleteI don't have HBO as part of my package but I called GCI and they said I could have access for the time slot that I wanted and they would pro-rate the time(or I could get it for $7 a month). Much cheaper than a movie in a theater!
DeleteMotorhead, I'm going through the same thing in Juneau. Frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI have heard it will be on Pay Per View tomorrow. I am not sure if that is true but I read it here in a comment yesterday.
DeleteMy post on HP that just made it through the censors:
ReplyDelete“If anyone thinks the Palin expose' is boring then they haven't been keeping in touch with the whole ugly story. Check out immoralminority blog for a lot more. Also check out Shailey Tripp's new book, entitled 'Boys will be Boys. Supposedly it's already made the best seller list. It's an expose' of Todd Palin and his alleged prostitution connections, including the alleged coverup by the Anchorage Alaska police department.
The truth has been hidden for too long and the movie is just a teaser of much more to come.”
We need many more like it and now. Keep it up steady for at least 24 hours. HP has a lot of traffic and is probably the best site there is to get our message across.
Now is not the time to sit on your hands bloggers! This is an opportunity to put this blog in the spotlight as well as destroy Palin for goood.
HP is the enemy. Arianna is a GOP shill. Won't give her any pageviews.
DeleteThis is for you Shailey!
ReplyDeletei plan to try youtube later on and see if it gets posted

Hahaha! The Obama reelection folks have already made an ad out of the Hannity meltdown. Thank you $arah for being the gift that keeps on giving. All aboard the Ship of Fail!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeaM4t2Ycgk
Love it that President Obama's team jumped on this ignorant rant of hers. She obviously was TOLD to say pre civil rights and she screwed up and said pre civil war. Stupid and ignorant does not begin to describe this woman.
DeleteThank you so much for that link! I've lived through the assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK . . . and the evil of George Wallace . . . and the dishonesty and assault on the Constitution of Richard Nixon . . . and that is WHY I am so concerned about Sarah Palin's demagoguery.
DeleteI followed the link from the ad and donated to the two term fund--"to show Sarah Palin there is a cost to negativity."
Right fucking on!
And pre-civil rights akes about 2 cents more sense than pre- Civil War anyway. She is too dumb to even know when she's being used.
DeleteAhhh... What a dumbarse....
DeleteCome on Sarah, sue the authors of "Game Change" for libel. Or, if you don't want to spend the money 'cause you'll lose, at least identify what is false in the account.
Crickets.... Everyone is noticing them, loud and clear.
I hope President Obama continues to ignore her totally, and comment on nothing that comes out of her ignorant mouth. It must enrage her no end that she cannot get a reaction from him.
DeleteI love this ad. With each "sentence?" she says, they zoom closer and closer to that mess that's between her hairline and vein popping neck - I think it's called a "face" on anyone else.
DeleteAnonymous 7:06 you're absolutely right on the "civil war" vs "civil rights", and there's no way she can walk that back.
President Obama isn't even remotely concerned about anything that Sarah says or does. It isn't a matter of ignoring her, he just has more important things to do.
DeleteIs that actually done by his team or is that done my some group?
DeleteI've never noticed the site name before:
my.barackobama.com
We don't have cable or satellite TV. Is there a way to pay per view online?
ReplyDeleteCertainly in a few months, it will be available on DVD.
Delete"John McCain puts country first."
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
They are kicking ass in the first 5 minutes.
I suspect they have all been coy in promoting this thing, to avert intense heat from the GOP and friendly press outlets.
Don't know if this is legit, but I just found this. Maybe somebody with more computer knowledge than I can look into it for those who don't have HBO.
ReplyDeletehttp://thetvshownetwork.blogspot.in/2012/03/watch-game-change-episode-1-online.html
I went to the site, and it is downloading something. I'll let you know what it is after it finishes.
DeleteI also went to the site & signed up for free. I don't know how it works on a PC as I have MacPro. Downloaded their application "Graboid". Yes the movie Game Change is there and listed as "hot"#1 right now.
DeleteAlas, to watch the movie you have to upgrade your account & pay for it. The movie is there but grayed out in the application where it says click to download movie & watch it in Graboid:
"Your subscription does not allow you to access items from these categories: HD TV Shows, HD Movies.
Upgrading your Graboid plan will unlock these for you!
Not sure? Call 1-877-460-0722 and speak directly to Graboid Customer Service between 10am and 6pm EST daily.
To upgrade click here:Upgrade"
The upgrade to watch costs $19.99.
PS I'll enjoy reading all the reviews online tomorrow and hopefully there will be a bittorrent very very soon. I know that if it comes out on Netflix or DVD there definitely WILL be a bittorrent.
DeleteHi Lynne, I clicked on your name & noticed that you also read Margaret & Helen. ^5 atcha girl. I LOVE that blog!
DeleteCan't wait to hear what they have to say about this movie if they watched it.
-Colleen
I gave it a try. I had to download their program for viewing, and then all I found were seasons and seasons of crappy tv shows. Game Change was prominently featured and offered as a download, but nothing would come up. Seemed like a bait and switch thing to me. Did anyone get any better results? I'm going to uninstall the program. I don't think I need multiple seasons of Jersey Shore and vampire shows, etc. And Game Change Episode 1?
DeleteEven better...there's a Game Change all right, but it's "adult content". Do we really want to go there? Oh boy, that ought to get somebody (not me please) on the Viagra/penis lengthening spam list.
DeleteI'm the one that posted above about downloading the application and that it cost $19.99 to upgrade. Actually the "bait & switch thing" is pretty common although you CAN download some content for free. I think they put episode numbers on all their content so there would be only 1 episode on full movies. But I'm with you. Who wants to watch multiple seasons of Jersey Shore etc.? I'll have to go with a bittorrented version and as soon as I find it I'll be sure to let everyone on here know.
Delete-Colleen
They didn't show her gasping with pleasure and cooing to Piper that her precious daughter was the baby used in the Pro-Life booth at the Alaska State Fair when she took that call from John McCain?
ReplyDelete15 minutes in and all I can say is bullshit bullshit bullshit.
ReplyDeleteSarah comes across as a total con artist interviewing with Steve.
ReplyDeleteIf they only have done character vetting, asking former Mayor John Stein, former Wasilla Police Chief Irl Stambaugh (another big guy like Steve Schmidt, whom Palin ends up playing victim to saying she'd been intimidated by them) Frank Murkowski or even former Representative Bob Roses what it was like to be befriended and then discarded by Sarah Palin, they wouldn't mistake her for a grateful, loyal or party player.
ReplyDeleteThey reap what they sow. And to portray her as sympathetic because a party used her, shame on them, and her, she didn't blink.
I think I saw lust in her eyes watching "Obama's big fancy speech".
ReplyDeleteSteve Schmidt: you seem totally unfazed by all this.
ReplyDeleteSarah: it's god's plan.
Creeepy
There's a live blog going on at http://www.delawareliberal.net/2012/03/10/game-change-live-blog/
ReplyDeleteThere's probably more, but this one is moving right along...
The "wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus coast to coast" scene IS in.
ReplyDeleteLOL too bad they couldn't fit in Palin, her kids and staff looting the Oscar tent with armloads of stuff meant for actors.
DeleteWe don't have cable so will never see this movie unless it goes to Netflix. Even that will be a couple of years. So we have to depend on trailers and reveiws to get any sense of it.
ReplyDeleteOr, we could just review all the genuinely stupid comments the WGE has made over the past 4 years, look at old videos, remember old glories like the phone call from Nicholas Sarkozy, the famous turkey pardon, the too-big shoes, the dirty clothes at the reception [before?] [after?] the White House journalists' dinner, and so on, ad nauseum. One of my favorite images was a clip of the entire Palin family wandering around in the dark waving to stage techs after the Republican National Convention. Or maybe it was the WGE trying to force Piper to apologize for public rudeness, and then when she wouldn't do it, apologizing for her. The sweaty inappropriate clothes in Iowa? Barging in to that motorcycle extravaganza? Trying to upstage Mitt Romney in New Hampshire? The list IS kind of endless. The worst of course was the outrageous complaint following the Giffords shooting that somehow SHE was a victim. Oh stop me now...
I bet it will be available on Netflix, soon.
DeleteIf you're a member, you can already add it to your dvd que, with the release date to be announced.
Oh, who cares, even if I had HBO it wouldn't be something that my partner and I would watch. Hubs has already gotten a copy from the darkest corners of the internet and it's on our AppleTV but we just don't need to see it. Don't feel bad for not watching; you've been on these blogs long enuf to know what Palin is about.
DeleteI think it will be shown on Pay Per View tomorrow. I read that comment here yesterday. Hope its true for all those that weren't able to watch. It was fab!
DeleteHahaha the post selection vetting scene is great. Troopergate, bridge to nowhere, AIP, book burning, babygate.
ReplyDeleteSarah:" how the flip did this happen?"
ReplyDeleteShe's not proud of bristol's pregnancy.
It is supposed to be on PPV on Monday. I wonder if it might eventually be available on Netflix.
ReplyDelete39 mins awkward scene with Levi.
ReplyDeleteOlive Garden: Long story short. Friend wanted birthday party at Olive Garden in Anchorage. We went. We waited for table. We waited for drinks (my martini took 1 hour!) Ordered food. My dish was not available so made do with the iceberg lettuce salad that they offer and a chewy stuffed mushroom appetizer that seemed to have been previously frozen. Partner actually ordered beef medallions w/balsamic reduction on fettuncini. Beef was cooked nicely, fettucini was overcooked and a stuck together mess. We have not been to an Olive Garden but we thought that at least their pasta would be cooked perfectly, but no, this "italian" joint could not even accomplish an al dente pasta. Spent $45 with tip on one meal, two drinks and one appetizer for really substandard food. I hope that they have improved since we were there one month ago. If not, you might actually be cooking a "real meal" at home right now after spending money at the Olive Garden!
ReplyDeleteI ate an Olive Garden one time only, and it was just awful. Bland food, overcooked pasta, terrible sauce. Anyone with a good recipe can do much better than this at home. Don't waste your $ kids.
DeleteHey, can I jump in on the Olive Garden reviews? (This was in Atlanta though).
DeleteTook my kids there for a nice night out. Ordered up the fettucine alfredo for myself thinking it sounded good---but it was TERRIBLE. Totally smothered in alfredo sauce to where the noodles were floating. I didn't eat but about 5 bites of it.
When the server took my plate away he must have said something to the manager because the manager came over and asked me what was wrong with my meal. I told him and he took 50% off our entire bill.
Very, very cool of him to do that, but didn't really ease the pain of the food poisoning I got an hour after leaving the restaurant.
Does Darden (owner of Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants) still support Glenn Beck?
DeleteAnyone thinking Olive Garden is the place to go for Italian food (food?) Whaddafookareyathinkin!
DeleteDon't know anything about Darden but anyone that eats at Red Lobster or Olive Garden needs their taste buds checked!
DeleteShouldn't it be called "The Olive Grove"?
DeleteI agree, they've really gone downhill.
So far they've shown Mark yelling that this is what happens when you spend only 5 days vetting someone and NOT speaking with anyone other than her. LOL...Steve said "how did you research her, wikipedia?"
ReplyDeleteSimple Sara response from question via Steve "Who is the head of government" regarding Britain
ReplyDeleteTwo hours and 11 minutes until we get Game Change on Maui. I'll be checking comments from the East coast 'til then. Aloha!
ReplyDeleteShe totally blows her first practice question from Steve.
ReplyDeleteHahaha 50 mins in: bristoll cries.
ReplyDeleteSarah is getting a history lesson about the locations of countries. She did not know about ANY of the wars America was involved in, who started the war and how it they ended.
ReplyDeleteHence her recent conflation of the Civil War and the civil rights era.
DeleteSarah demands a $60,000 poll be done for her in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly was an interesting tidbit, wasn't it?
DeleteSteve; do you know what the fed is ?
ReplyDeleteSarah: blank state
WooHoo!!! I am just laughing at this movie. Makes it looks like McCain made a huge mistake. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteShe thinks sadamm Hussein attacked us on 9/11
ReplyDeleteFace palm
The campaign first going to use Charlie Gibson was because he would be sympathetic..she did not KNOW what the Fed is, she thinks Sadam attacked the us on 9/11 & not al-Queda and is writing everything on index cards...this is too freaking funny
ReplyDeleteShe was a freaking Governor and she didn't know what the Fed was.
DeleteUnbelievable!
They really nailed her blackberry/diet dr. Pepper addiction.
ReplyDeleteBut no bendy straws!
DeleteAmerica dodged a bullet...
ReplyDeleteJohn McCain sure does have a potty mouth!
ReplyDeleteI've watched the first hour. There is no way she comes across as sympathetic. Prior to the Katie Couric interview, she is absolutely losing it. She appears insane.
ReplyDeleteSarah: I look fat
ReplyDeleteNicole: she's having a meltdown.
I really feel bad for Nicole Wallace. Sarah seems more like the villain. She's obsessed with what Alaska thinks of her.
ReplyDeleteOMG this is fantastic so far!!! Riveting.
ReplyDeleteThe world economy is on the brink of collapse and Sarah is going on and on about her makeup and is obsessed about her approval ratings in Alaska. She is absolutely done after this movie.
ReplyDeleteWow, I knew most of this stuff, but it is still shocking to see it all portrayed on screen. She is 100% moron.
ReplyDeleteSteve: name one fuckin paper.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great moment.
DeleteNotice though Palin says she wanted her OWN clothes yet months afterward she was still wearing garb from the fancy stores she stole from the bus?
Sarah:I am ruined in Alaska. /smashes blackberry
ReplyDeleteHaha
OMG I'm yelling at Julianne Moore as if she's really Sarah! Sorry Jules. You did too good of a job!
ReplyDeleteI like that! Poor Julianne ... too good, eh?
DeleteNo Olive Garden tonight.
ReplyDeleteThere was and hour long wait.(Uncle Gryphen does not wait an hour for his food)
So we went to the Cattle Company instead, a restaurant I have not been to since the late eighties.
And now I remember why.
Interesting comments so far on this thread. Sadly I still have almost two hours left before I can join the party.
You had to have had a better meal at Cattle Company than you would have at Olive Garden. But for steaks, Sullivans kind of rules, for Italian, Villa Nova is best and for pizza Moose's Tooth. The best meal you can get in Anchorage, by far is Marx Brothers. If you want to drive to Wasilla, The Grape Tap is fabulous; sort of a Marx Bros type meal in our redneck town of Wasilla! If daughter is taking you out, make sure that you both make it memorable, and local! Don't spend money on chain restaurants!
DeleteNo loss, Gryph. Olive Garden sux. Every time I get railroaded into going there I absolutely hate it!
DeleteGriffin you should go to Club Paris for that steak dinner! Still the best:)
Deletetweet
Catatonic, unresponsive stupors..can't remember shit syndrome...
ReplyDeleteSarah's unresponsive on Philly. They try to get her to eat. Catatonic stupors is how they're described.
ReplyDeleteCannot get HBO. Is there a computer head out there somewhere that can record and then upload this movie to bittorrents? Thousands more will see it!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing scene in a conference room at a large table with many people in the room. As they try to prep her for the debate, she slips into what those in the room describe as "catatonic stupors: in front of numerous people. There is no way they aren't telling the truth about this.
ReplyDeleteJust over an hour into it, and all I can say is WOW !! You are going to love this Gryphen !!
ReplyDeleteWhen she is having her meltdowns, there are many people in the room. They didn't make this stuff up. If they did, they would be sued in a minute.
ReplyDeleteExactly. A table surrounded with people. It was true.
DeleteThey did bring up Trig and it was left an open question.
ReplyDeleteYou almost feel like Steve and Nicole are her therapists.
ReplyDeleteMcCain almost takes a fatherly approach with Palin. He comes across as somewhat sympathetic. Of course, he doesn't have to manage her. He keeps saying things like we threw her into the deep end of the pool without a life preserver.
ReplyDeleteAint that some shit!
ReplyDeleteTodd Palin is being raked through the coals from Shailey Tripp's book Boys Will Be Boys and the only thing Sarah Palin does is email ABC and tells them she is not going to watch Game Change.
Todd is probably sitting in his room with a pocket full of used condoms thinking WTF is Sarah leaving me out there to dry?
Hey Todd remember this, when it comes to Sarah Palin, only Sarah Palin matters.
Ask John McCain, he'll tell ya!
Wow, Julianne Moore is "nailin' Palin" if you'll pardon the expression. She's really good. And is that a head I hear explodin' in Alaska? I'm going to assume that MSNBC or someone will be asking Steve Schmidt about the movie, once it's been broadcast. He's still got some 'splainin' to do. I'm still amazed that in her narcissitic fog, she still thinks she was qualified for *anything*!!!
ReplyDeleteWow just seeing this movie even though I know what happens is scary. I had forgotten all this. It is scary and funny to see the mental breakdown. Wow.
ReplyDeleteHilarious scene with Schmidt and Palin regarding her saying OBiden. It was almost like
ReplyDeleteWhose on first' with Abbott and Costello!
Sarah comes across an angry nut who is completely unprepared.
ReplyDeleteShe just mentioned O'Biden and can't get it down pat.
The relationship between Sarah and Todd the Pimp and the kids is FAKE!!! They didn't do a good job with this part but who cares. She's a very unprepared ignorant kook.
Watching in Iowa... So far I'm trying to watch objectively and I'm thinking right now its garnering sympathy for the paylins Definitely.
ReplyDeleteShe would be garnering sympathy, in "flyover" country. That's what Iowa is about, right?
DeleteWhen she fell into the catatonic depression, there was sympathy for someone who was mentally ill. She quickly snapped into manic mode and all sympathy was gone. She is ruthless.
DeleteHere's Comment posted over at HP (yes, THAT HP, but it is a lively thread). Alas, no HBO at my abode:
ReplyDelete=========================================
"OMG...this is hysterical. But please, if you're playing the drinking game where you drink every time she says something stupid, oh never mind..you're probably already passed out."
Support local restaurants and the chefs that make them happen. We have The Grape Tap in Wasilla, Turkey Red in Palmer. Marx Brothers , the Kincaid Grill and Jens in Anchorage. Fabulous food with a personal touch. The kind of food that you want to eat when you don't have the time to do it yourself.
DeleteGryphen, Olive Garden is typical franchise food - definitely not worth an hour wait. Even though there are several Olive Garden's in the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area, including one only a short 10 minute drive from my house, I don't go there more than once every year or two. I haven't been to a Cattle Company for at least two decades. Guess I haven't missed anything there either.
ReplyDeleteYou could get some friends together to watch it in a cheap motel room that has HBO but you better hurry! Other ideas: Call a restaurant or bar that has HBO or a nice hotel lobby?
ReplyDeleteThe trolls are speechless. Finally, they sit down and shut up! Let's hope for relentless fall-out from this movie and other efforts until the last Palin peep has been stamped out.
ReplyDeleteI will not get to watch it tonight like I had wanted. I will have to wait for another date. Tweet me up if any of you can! Shaytripp
ReplyDeleteSarah is realistic. Todd is Mr. Nice Guy Supportive Husband, not much screen time. I hope he'll get a realistic portrayal in a movie based on your book.
DeleteMuch artistic license taken in the scenes with Todd & Track. No sources, right?
ReplyDeleteOn to the debate!
It was crystal clear that she is manic depressive.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible for someone in Alaska to interview her high school history teachers? I wonder what they would say.
ReplyDeleteWondering if Sarah "so didn't want to go back to Alaska" to get Tawdry out of the pimping business?
ReplyDeleteNow I'd just like to see "Boys will be Boys" by Shailey Tripp made into a movie. Oh happy day.
DeleteThree-quarters over. Moore is too ladylike, too classy. Not hard-edged, feckless. Tina Fey was closer to reality.
ReplyDeleteShe lacks the same characteristic my jealous, uneducated parents always accused me of lacking: the common touch. If $P is anything, she's COMMON!
Hah, she just said nukuler! Should we have expected any less?!?!?!
Track knows his biological father is Curtis Menard, Jr.
ReplyDeleteHell, this is unbelievably good. The trailers don't do it justice. McCain is afraid of her and is afraid that she will turn on him. It really explains why McCain won't say anything now.
ReplyDeleteShe is most definitely a loose cannon. She is so out of control. It is what McCain deserved for putting this witch into the spotlight and we have all suffered for years with her lies, her crimes and her evil vindictiveness. McCain STILL says it was his best decision. Are you fucking kiddiing me???
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty clear from the movie that Palin scares him shitless, and he doesn't have the cajones to say anything for fear that she will turn on him.
DeleteSarah Palin lied? No way! I don't believe it!
ReplyDelete;)
This movie actually makes me like McCain more.
ReplyDeleteMe too, because now I see why he defends her. He rarely had to deal directly with her, and he felt responsible for throwing a totally unqualified person into this arena. He also knows that if he now cuts her down, he only looks worse because it would be a flip-flop and he would lose credibility. No, he has carry this weight forever, and he know it. I didn't realize that he didn't see much of her poor behavior himself.
DeleteI think so too. He is an honorable person who didn't get to run the campaign he wanted.
Delete"It wasn't a campaign, it was a bad reality show!"
ReplyDeleteThis movie is great, I actually get pangs of sympathy for her until I remember she is a psychopath.
ReplyDeleteThe acting is incredible, Julianne should get an award for this. I am watching it with my mother and she is commenting on the acting and how tense it all is.
I know what I know what I know!! she says to Schmidt. Nicole Wallace's response - "and there you have it." Perfect
ReplyDeleteOMG, what's happened to that beautiful Jamey Sheridan? Musta taken them hours to make him look so frumpy and unattractive. -:)
ReplyDelete"Tell her she's not fucking speaking!"
ReplyDeletePlease allow me to say, FUCK YOU, HBO!!! I went to their homepage today to see when this would be on, and it said "9 P.M. CT." I went to my teevee at 9, only to find out it started at 8 P.M. CT. I thought, oh, crap, I must have been mistaken, but nope, their site still says "9 P.M. CT." Oh, well, at least it comes on again at 11. Aaarrrggghhh. Thank you to the wonderful posters at IM for the updates and insights.
ReplyDeleteTotally edited the "He's a Muslim" - "No, he's a Christian. He's a decent family man." Probably good call. A Muslim can be a decent family man.
ReplyDeleteThe last scene between Schmidt and Palin is incredible. Extremely tense. Schmidt slams the door and returns to tell her that ONLY John McCain will be making a concession speech. You, Sarah Palin, will NOT....!" Incredible scene. She refuses to take no for an answer and approaches McCain. He tells her no and she still tries. If that doesn't give you insight into her character, I am not certain what will. John gives her the best advice ever at the end. Schmidt glares at her with hatred.
ReplyDeleteIt's Julianne Moore's performance that got the buzz before the movie aired, but I have to say that Woody Harrelson's performance as Schmidt was just extraordinary. Game Change is Schmidt's story, and Harrelson does incredible work with his journey, from optimistic consultant to haunted soul when it's plain to him that he's unleashed a monster onto history.
DeleteI've no desire to watch Game Change again, but I'm glad I've seen it.
when you've lost the moral high ground to Dick Cheney..... hahaha
ReplyDeleteI think Woody is wearing Sarah's empathy belly.
ReplyDeleteWow what an asshole Sarah is.
ReplyDeleteSarah lies are the fact we live with. Too bad the DoD is such a bad actor. She will be gone one day, DoD just goes on and on.
ReplyDeleteExcellent movie! The movie in no way, shape or form flatters Palin. It makes her appear a crazy narcissist who swings between severe depression to mania in the course of the campaign. I felt repulsed by her.
ReplyDeleteJust finished watching and whew, were safe!!! She will never, ever hold a public office again. God bless America.
ReplyDeleteThe movie just ended. John McCain gives Sarah words of advice at the end. She doesn't heed those words. She, instead, takes the opposite direction.
ReplyDeleteJust finished watching it...wonderful.
ReplyDeletePalin, such a bozo.
"I think she may be mentally unstable"....my favorite line.
Wow. WOW. WOW. It was excellent. My favorite part was the scene where Schmidt tells her she will NOT make a speech. WOW. I LOVED this movie. She is so scary, though....so ignorant and so hateful....I may have nightmares.
ReplyDeleteOne problem with the movie - they made John McCain SO MELLOW. He is not mellow. Doesn't he have a horrible temper?? Maybe he didn't during the campaign. He swore a lot. She was really almost evil, but loving to her children. The seen with Track though seemed very fake.
ReplyDeleteThere were times in the movie, I felt a bit sorry for her, but it went away quickly because of how terrible she was to the campaign.
I think it was good. The one thing I would have liked to have seen was more of the cause and effect of the hate rallies. It didn't just change the tone of politics. It changed the country. Republicans became angry and violent in a way I've never seen and I'm not sure that will ever change. Remember the guy throwing dollars at the crippled man on the ground? It started with Sarah Palin's hate rallies.

Really, really well done. Really. I was mesmerized the entire two hours. Moore's Palin caught her many sides and even though just a glimpse of her "mean girl" side came through, she captured what we all know too well.
ReplyDeleteTour de force for Harrelson and Moore.
via wonkette: what's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? at some point the pit bull does stop whining.
ReplyDeleteThat might be one of the most delightful things I've read.
DeleteJust finished watching it. Safe to say, it's NOT a very nice portrayal of paylump. GREAT acting, especially by Julianne Moore. Woody Harrelson was great as well. I fear for a certain fridge door somewhere in Wasilla :)
ReplyDeleteThe movie really didn't paint McCain, his family, or Palin's family in a negative light. In fact Todd seemed like a supportive husband. Sarah, box of rocks.
ReplyDeleteYup, she really is nutz.
ReplyDeleteI live in Las Vegas, so I just watched it on HBO East at 6 pm.....it was good, very good acting. John McCain comes off the best, very noble, kind..somehow I don't see his character being so kind when all this is going on. Sarah I think finally comes to grips with her real sense of self. She loves the applause, the adoration and doesn't see any reason for knowledge about anything. She just talks plain like the morons that adore her, just spewing negative with no solutions. I have sadness for Steve as he knew, along with Nicole really quickly she was dumb as a doornail. I mean dumb as in no interest to learn anything that doesn't instantly serve her. I always laughed at the Katie Couric interview when she asked about the Supreme Court...and DUH the Exxon Valdez ya think how they screwed Alaska after years and years would have been easy. This is actually great during this primary season to remember her hatred of Obama, just like Rush.
ReplyDeleteThat woman is just soooo nasty. Now I know why the Toad can't even stand her. Just NASTY. And stupid too. Yeah, just NASTY STUPID that Palin is. Thanks Steve and Nicole for letting us in on just how Nasty Stupid that Palin really is.

Fantastic movie. Palin doesn't come across as a victim. She is at first extremely arrogant (this is God's plan), then extremely ignorant, mentally ill, and finally, completely power-hungry. The chilling line for me was McCain whispering to her "don't let Rush Limbaugh use you to destroy the party." The movie was compelling and, at times, very funny (favorite line was Schmidt groaning at the thought that when Dick Cheney is taking the high moral ground, you really need to re-think your life). Moore is rightly praised as Palin: she loses herself in the role. But Harrelson was equally stellar, as the guy who makes a really bad decision, immediately recognizes that, and then barely treads water for the rest of the campaign.
ReplyDeleteHaha how does Dick Cheney eat and drink through his Darth Vader mask? There was definitely levity but I found it very intense, even though we knew the ending. The Nicolle Wallace unable to pull the lever for McCain/Palin and not voting at all - very telling.
DeleteShe is clearly anorexic during the movie, not eating, focused on how heavy she is, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe only scenes that weren't accurate were those with her family that weren't witnessed by any of the campaign staffers.
There were many themes in this movie: 1) Show vs. substance 2) Polish a rock long enough and it can perform in a debate 3) Politicians have an unbelievable need to be loved 4) Palin was the start of the hateful rhetoric that took over politics with the tea party 5) McCain was taken back by the vitriol 6)Schmidt and Wallace have more patience than I could ever have.
From NYS, that was gooooooood!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was excellent. The acting especially. Anyone who says Palin got off "easy" didn't see the same movie I did. Moore was Palin even down to her walk. What a performance. The acting overall was good.
ReplyDeleteI didn't feel the sympathy either - maybe a little because she is mentally ill in real life. Overall I would have to say you are correct - anyone who said they left the movie feeling sorry for Sarah didn't quite grasp how well Julianne Moore did at depicting Sarah at her worst, particularly after she went "rogue". Magnificent performance.
DeleteI was hoping they would say who came up with that retarded winking. The SNL skit of the VP debate was awesome. As long as Palin does not throw up, cry or shit herself she wins....the old hag done burned her bridges. Loving she has another 20 years to live in shame.
ReplyDeleteMoore was outstanding.
WASILLA, LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES are in the house, HERE COME THE TROLLS.
ReplyDeleteLaughed out loud several times. "I haven't even told him (McCain) yet she doesn't know anything." Awesome, intense, really pitiful when she is realizing the ruse is up and all of America and most of Europe have discovered that she really has NO business trying to pass herself off as a candidate worthy of the office of Vice President of the United States. My husband turned to me at the end and said: "Anything you might have liked about her they completely discredited." Wow. Can't wait to watch it again.
ReplyDeleteWeird, though, they never mention Todd Palin's Prostitution ring nor try to answer why Bristol would name her son Tripp after her daddy's prostitute.
I watched it and it was fab... I never saw a man or woman with more balls then she had. I can see how she treats her family privately. I wandered why they were always smiling, because she demanded it. She is definately a sick person.
ReplyDeleteThree references to Trig:
ReplyDeletewas he really her son?
when did the amniotic fluid start leaking? (from John Heilman, playing a reporter)
And when the staff told Todd and Sarah that the idea of Trig not being their was ridiculous. They exchanged a huge look of relief. Only someone tuned into the Trig story would probably catch these tells, however.
Wow, just finished. Incredible movie - Julianne deserves the Emmy.
ReplyDeleteHere was my take: there was a short time where Sarah appears sympathetic, early in the campaign where she's way over her head. And maybe you think she's mentally ill. But you lose any sympathy when you realize she lied to get the nomination, and then feel sorry for the people stuck with her. Then they do their job of propping her up and she becomes evil, mean, vindictive...
Sounds like her cycle: play victim to elicit sympathy, get what you need, then fuck everyone over.
Great movie! My two take-aways...it is scary how close that woman came to the Presidency, and John McCain is a decent man. And the warning John gave her at the end...of course she didn't listen!
ReplyDeletesome wine,popcorn..and pure laughter.sarah you are one dumbass person..yes you have fans,BUT the few paintchip eaters that send you money are the minority..you will never be loved or admired by us REAL Americans!!..very good movie.Tami
ReplyDeleteConfirmed-ole sarah is truly Bat Shit Crazy.
ReplyDeleteEven dick cheney thinks you are a "reckless" choice, , , , uhh just so you know palins, that is a bad thing.
Someone earlier in this thread posted this link to President Obama's team fighting BACK to Sarah's ignorant lies on Hannity. I am SO GLAD THAT I CLICKED. THey are fundraising on Sarah's hate! Whoot! Yes Scarah, keep on spewing that evil garbage and we'll keep on raising money.

Game Change didn't disappoint ...Now i hope people really wakeup and take a real close look at all the Palins...Liars, frauds, grifters..Bet $arah is in a catatonic state now..It was great..Showed what a vindictive bitch that she is..
ReplyDeleteSo Palin, was (is) your train wreck of a political career "God's plan" too? Must be, cause it happened...right?
ReplyDeleteLoved it, great acting, great writing. But the depiction of Todd was absolutely ridiculous. McCain came across as sympathetic but Palin is a disaster. Oh my lord, she must be steaming.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely awesome! Much more than I expected!
ReplyDeleteOf course there was some glossing over of a few realities, but this lays so much or the groundwork. She is toast!
Thank you Schmidt and Wallace, and now let's start turning over the rocks that couldn't really be properly handled in a 2-hour film! The stage is set!
READ THESE COMMENTS ON TWITTER:
ReplyDelete"GameChange was great, but wow I've always hated Sarah Palin but I never really knew how awful of a person she is."
"And this is the moment when my mom went into our only two black family neighborhood and screamed "hallelujah" to the night sky."
"We are witnessing the ungodly birth of a new genre: docutrauma."
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had planned on only recording it and watching it later, but I got caught up waiting for the pizza guy.
(IT TOOK AN HOUR!!)
So I GOT to watch an HOUR of Game Change~
I have read the book, I am a loyal IMer...
And I had my HANDS over my Mouth! saying OH MY GOD out loud.
Even my hubby (who LOATHES talking about Palin more than I hate Palin) said:
This looks really well done. I'd like to watch it after the baby is in bed.
Damn straight!!
(I can't believe the scenes where she is IGNORING Nicole Wallace. That really struck me.)
