Joe Scarborough calls out the Right Wing media for their racist attacks on Trayvon Martin.
More from Wonkette:
We wonder who Joe Scarborough is talking about here, when he calls out rightwing websites for being “beneath contempt” in their treatment of Trayvon Martin! (No we don’t. He is talking about Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller.) Noting that the Daily Caller had breathlessly presented Trayvon Martin’s Twitter feed as fodder for the poor oppressed whites of the world to note what a bad bad boy Trayvon Martin was, Scarborough practically throws up at the disingenuousness of presenting something so “innocuous … I can show you a lot of white kids, from suburban neighborhoods … come on.” Then he goes on and on and on about some on the right (Tucker Carlson) being “disgusting, warped, twisted and distorted.”
I don't always agree with Scarborough by any stretch of the imagination, but he is dead on here. And good for him in calling out these racist assholes on the Right.
You know I had no intention of making it "Right Wing Racism Day" here at IM, but what can I do when it seems to be seeping out of their pores lately?

Oh, dear, now I, too, have to agree with something Joe Scarborough said.
ReplyDeleteWhy does agreeing with him still make me feel as if I should take a mental shower?
However, kudos must be given where due, regardless of the source. Thanks for the heads-up, Gryphen.
Sarah,Rush, and Fox News are still standing.
ReplyDeleteAny questions ?
Difficult takes awhile - the impossible a little longer
DeleteNo questions, merely a comment.
DeleteAnd they will probably remain standing until the Day of Judgment – when they will have to kneel before God, Who will hold them accountable for every word they have spoken, Matthew 12:36, and Who will judge them according to all their evil deeds, Revelation 20:13.
Oh me, me!.!.! I have a question:
DeleteWhat's your point? Are you insinuating that those three are 'still standing' because of their popularity with the populace?
Winken, Blinken and Nod are there because an individual wants them to be... for the time being, anyway :)
Answer: stupidity persists. Is that admirable and desired? Do you want stupid bigoted people leading the human race into the future? Is that your idea of Utopia?
DeleteAs opposed to what? Sitting? You don't seem too bright. Are you trying to make some sort of point?
DeleteObviously you have some point - mind sharing it? Hatred is good? Evil is rewarded by other evil people? Just because these slimes are still on the air doesn't make them right or even the majority opinion of this country. You must be a Sara troll since you listed her shitness first. But then again maggots love wallowing in shit so you must feel right at home defending her
DeleteSandra, Barack and MSNBC are still standing.
DeleteAny questions?
Ooh ooh I have a question! Pick me! Why did Sarah fake a special needs pregnancy?
DeleteI don't expect an answer since you are too much of a coward to even respond because you know you will be decimated(look it up) by us here. How's it feel to be intellectually inferior? I wouldn't know.
And McDonald's is still standing. Does that mean they make the best quality hamburgers? To a right-winger, yes that's what it means. They aren't too bright.
DeleteIt depends who they are being helped to stand by. It they are standing on the Word of God, then the fruit will be good. But it's not good, it's decomposing, rotten.
DeleteIf they are standing because another force helps them, may the Lord have mercy on their souls; they would be wise to repent, and turn from their wicked ways.
Yeah, their kneepads are at the cleaners, they'll be back on their knees soon, don't worry.
DeleteHey, they had me beginning to doubt the total guilt of Zimmerman until I saw that police video. No blood, no swollen nose, no bruises, and totally at ease with the cops. So Trayvon was no angel and got suspended from school...we all know some 'nice Christian loving strong smart conservative' children who have also been suspended from school, don't we? the demonizaton of this boy is disgusting, almost as disgusting as the NRA and ALEC pushing these vigilante laws that encourage bullies with guns to go after people. And we wonder why our soldiers act the way they do in other countries? This society place no value on anyone unless they are white and male and rich, and the sooner we vote those people out of office and get some people who care about more than the bottom line, the better for all of us.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you were doubting Zimmerman's guilt before the video. Many people began to believe Zimmerman once it was reported that Trayvon Martin wasn't an altar boy, like Santorum. That was equivalent to believing he got what he deserved. Trayvon's parents maintain that he was not perfect but that he was a good person. Zimmerman was always guilty. He pursued. He profiled. He killed.
DeleteYet 30 minutes after he killed Trayvon he and the police are nonchalantly walking into the police station.
What on earth does it matter if Trayvon wasn't "perfect" - whatever that is? What difference would it make if he did indeed fight back? He was being followed by a stranger, for heaven's sake. If I was being followed by a stranger, and I have been, I would be preparing myself to fight him off if necessary.
DeleteWhere is the logic behind, well Trayvon wasn't perfect and he was afraid of a strange person following him so that mitigates Zimmerman's actions as an assailant and a killer?
The first photo that I saw of Trayvon Martin made me think of my older grandson who is about his age. Although not African-American, I thought my grandson could have been Trayvon. There were so many similarities between the two boys - in the eyes and the optimistic look on Trayvon's face.
DeleteNo one is perfect, no teenager is perfect, but this was a basically nice boy. And no one, no one should be murdered in cold blood in this day and age and get away with it.
Well, I seem to remember the PALIN children having a little trouble with the law, myspace, facebook, Twitter.............
DeleteI suspect that Zimmerman's daddy being a retired judge in VA may have something to do with how the police department because the number one guy in FL re criminal prosecution was at the station as or just after they brought Zimmerman. Maybe some phone calls were made that got him released so quickly without charges. Just saying it smells.
DeleteI never began to doubt Zimmerman's total guilt, and I didn't need to see the video to confirm it either. The 911 call, alone, convinced me.
DeleteTreyvon was a "John Doe", on ice for three days, they had his phone, so why didn't they contact his friends? Family?
I mean no disrespect nor comparison, but if I hit a dog with my car, and it dies, I call the police, get the number off it's id, and inform the owners. It's the least I can do and still live with myself.
Why is it we've learned more about the victim than the perpetrator? Why isn't Zimmerman's twitter, facebook, computer searches and past record being leaked?
You know, I read somewhere that some rightwinger had hacked into his email and found references to marijuana in there.
ReplyDeleteIT DOES NOT MATTER!!! First off, Trayvon WAS MURDERED. It does not matter wether he was high or not.
Secondly, it seems they did blood tests on him (but not on his murderer...), and ALL THE TESTS CAME BACK NEGATIVE for drugs and alcohol.
So is the email hacker going to be tried and sent to prison
DeleteWhy didn't they do a drug test on Zimmerman?
DeleteA KKK member hacked his alleged facebook and email. No joke. It tells you who's on the right side of this.
Deletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/29/white-supremacist-trayvon-martin-email_n_1389584.html
And you're right. None of it matters. I don't care if Trayvon smoked opium and liked to play Angry Birds, he didn't deserve to be murdered NO MATTER WHAT.
@1:34-
DeleteI am truly concerned that the case will be thrown out because of how the police acted.
No one gets justice once the evidence is tampered with, and nobody really seems to think the scene was kept secure.
It's just what they did with OJ-
create doubt, doubt, doubt.
And the victims lose, again...
You can't help it when this nasty hatred that has been laying under the surface the past 4 years is finally about to blow - just like a nasty zit, they are about to spew their infection all over the rest of this world. What has this country come to?
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad isn't it? The racists are so pent up with racist feelings since President Obama was elected, they are almost orgasmic over the death of Trayvon. It's sick. The good news is that good decent people outnumber the backwards racist bigots.
DeleteI've been following this at Mediate today. Many of the RW comments are unbelievable. Actually, I wish I didn't believe people could be so close-minded, hateful, and yes I'm going to say it: stupid. To their way of thinking any time an African American expresses an opinion, they're playing the race card. Any time an African American questions whether or not justice has been served, they're politicizing the issue. There is absolutely no reasoning with the segment of society that is so entrenched in hate. The more you try, the more they dig in their heels. They spew horrible, mean things, then call liberals "haters". It is startling that they don't see the hypocrisy.
DeleteWhen your side can't win on facts, follow the Republican strategy: lie repeatedly and demonize the enemy. Then lie some more.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what Trayvon may or may not have done in or out of school, he was walking back from the store with Skittles and tea, minding his own business. NO ONE had the right to take his life!
I'm progressive. I'm liberal. I'm alot of things but regardless I've been a fan of Joe for over 10 yrs. His political party doesn't exist anymore and good for him for calling these assholes out.
ReplyDeleteI was as well, until he remained silent about Pat Buchanan'a departure from his show and why.
DeleteJoe was a vocal opponent to President Clinton, but he was old school GOP, where compromise and doing the work of his constituents was an honorable and patriotic thing to do.
My husband's a huge fan, but I have to agree with you, I give him high credit for having the backbone to do the right thing. Maybe it's time to forgive him and start watching again.
"Right Wing Racism Day"
ReplyDelete------------
Any day that ends with the letter "y"
We know what the different media have written and said, But my mind keeps returning to that original 911 call Zimmerman said while talking with the Operator " These assholes always get away with it " Who are " These assholes " ? The only conclusion I can come up with is "Black people " And what are they getting away with ? Crime ? Martin was walking on the sidewalk in front of townhouses, One of which his stepmother owns and lives in with Martins Father there are also other black families in this complex so the sight of a black teenager shouldn't have evoked any suspicion but it did with Zimmerman.
ReplyDeleteZimmerman can be heard hurriedly following Martin and the Operator asks him if that is what he is doing ? " Yeah " is his answer, Zimmerman continues to follow Martin even after the Operator tells him that he doesn't need to do that, That officers are enroute, Zimmerman then says "Fucking Coons " and continues after Martin.
Just this one short conversation tells us much , Zimmerman profiled Martin for being a black male teenager who was to him an asshole who always gets away with it, And given Zimmermans hurried pace we can surmise that Martin had realised that he was being followed ( Backed up by his girlfriends Phone records ) and was running away which angered Zimmerman who called him a fucking coon and went after him, Whatever happened thereafter shouldn't really matter IF Zimmerman caught up with Martin, Martin had every right to defend himself not knowing who was after him, IF Zimmerman caught up with Martin and shot him he is a murderer, So erasing all the huperbole surrounding this case Zimmerman is either guilty of Murder or Manslaughter, It will be interesting what the Grand Jury finds.
Well Stated! I agree, I didn't need the police video to confirm it, the tape was enough. My gut tells me he'll be found guilty of the lesser offence, which is unconscionable to me.
DeleteO/T, but General Motors has just admitted that climate change is real, that global warming is really happening.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/30/general-motors-heartland-institute-climate-change_n_1391217.html
Watch the righties and their puppet-masters do a whip-lash inducing 180.
It's high time that yet another American industrial giant has recognized that admitting the truth of climate change is actually a GOOD THING FOR BUSINESS. Because customers are going green; they are looking for the best products that run most efficiently and produce the least amount of waste. The Japanese car manufacturers who recognized this decades ago have made billions while Detroit's manufacturers chose to ignore the evidence and sleep through it – suffering almost complete financial ruin as a result. When America wakes up to the reality of the future, American business will get a long overdue financial shot in the arm.
The right-wingnuts will claim that GM had to promise secretly when they got the government loans to claim that climate change is real. Just wait!
DeleteI'm sure you're right! They hate GM for surviving due to the bail-out; it makes them look wrong (gee, you'd think they'd be used to being wrong).
DeleteThis is what they do. They blame the victim.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.glennbeck.com/2012/03/30/msnbc-admits-glenn-beck-was-right/
ReplyDeleteI don’t even want to know what’s in that Glen Beck link. If the point of this link is to brag about the so-called “liberal” MSNBC agreeing with the new busllshit right-wing talking point that George Zimmerman is being “tried by the media,” you are wasting your time. It still won’t stop the media from talking about the facts: George Zimmerman shot an unarmed teenager, in a case of possible racial profiling, and is still free, and seemed to have no physical injuries after his “life of death” struggle with Trayvon Martin. George Zimmerman is a vigilante thug!
DeleteFAIL.
O/T - Gryphen & those in the know -- need your attention on this:
ReplyDeletePoliticususa has a story up 'Romney/Palin 2012: Could Mitt Get Desperate Enough For This?'
Gryphen or someone who remembers the connection of Romney when he headed the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and had his hand in Palin's campaign running for Gov -- which was not ethical -- needs to post about it in the comments. I can't remember the enough of the story to be able to post it. It needs to be known. I no longer have any of my books as I gave them to others to read.
There is also within the post, the mention on "Todd and his dalliances at the Anchorage massage parlor. Anchorage cops immediately cleared Palin of having any involvement with a prostitution ring."
Clearly - Politicususa is not aware of Shailey's book: "I’ve never seen a story buried as quickly as that one, but methinks that tabloid body could be exhumed by the judicious spreading around of a few hundred thou."
There needs to be some comments posted advising of the book and 'tidbits' of info and get Politicususa and Shailey 'together'!!!
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/politicususa/fJAl/~3/9-iwtZhn9UY/
Tucker and all like him, disgusting.
ReplyDeleteHow can they try to find something on this 17 year-old boy when this big thug gets out of car with a gun and pursues an unarmed person who is doing absolutely nothing but walking home? It doesn't matter that Zimmerman had any suspicion, it ONLY matters that he jumped to conclusions and was practicing vigilantiism; he recklessly ran after someone he knew absolutely nothing about and an innocent boy is dead by his hand.
The one thing that drives me crazy is listening to talking heads say how we shouldn't rush to judgment until all the info is gathered, or until we hear BOTH sides. THere are no 2 sides to this. No matter how Zimmerman's team can paint it, the onus rests on Zimmerman. He can't back out of this, no matter how he tries to deflect and blame everyone else.
Apparently it was perfectly acceptable to these commentators for Zimmerman to rush to judgement, find Trayvon guilty of something, pursue him against police instructions, carry a weapon against neighborhood watch rules, and end the 17 year-old's life.
DeleteAnyone could see that Trayvon was clearly a thug, threatening the neighborhood with Skittles and tea, but we should all be sure to give Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt.
Just like he gave Trayvon.
The asshole media had no problem rushing to judgment against O.J. Simpson, and Michael Jackson. Of course, they are black, so it’s O.K.
DeleteYou know what really upsets me about this tragedy. The fact that this boy was in a morgue for 3 days before his parents knew what had happened to him. They had reported him missing and he was identified as a John Doe, because he had no ID on him. There are no words to describe how this family has been treated. I just can't understand how the Sanford police didn't think to knock on those townhouse doors and ask if they knew the identification on this young boy. They just hauled him off to the morgue and didn't try to find his parents?
ReplyDeleteTHis is why I cry everytime I hear this story. I just pray Trayvon's mom knows her angel is in heaven.
He was talking on a cell phone just before he was shot. That phone should have been found close to his body and the police could have easily recalled the last number, spoken to his girlfriend and identified him within minutes.
DeleteClearly they didn't care enough to bother.
AnonymousMar 30, 2012 05:01 PM
DeleteThanks, I've said the same thing since it happened. Even if they had "processed" it into evidence, they could have called from the police's phone.

ReplyDeleteKeith Olbermann has been fired from Current TV.
He's been replaced with Eliot Spitzer, his show
"Viewpoints" immediately on Friday night.
I could see this coming for awhile. His recent shows have had a black draped background and he kept explaining it as "ongoing technical problems" with a sly smirk that only Keith can do. He's been out with "throat problems" and excused himself to get a lozenge while airing a segment.
DeleteI wonder if they'll have to pay him for the full 50 million five year contract? And who did he have a "falling out" with? He refused to cover the GOP conventions, and even Cenk had distanced himself from Keith.
I'll miss him, hope he shows up somewhere else, maybe on satellite radio? Or his own website with streaming vids.
Ann Coulter just came out with another of her off the wall statements. According to her the KKK is an outgrowth of the Democratic party. I don't know if she is desperate for attention, or just a race baiter and an idiot. She has been getting as bad as Palin recently. She didn't use to be that radical and divisive as I recall. Maybe she just wants a contract with FOX to make more money with a steady income, just like Palin.
ReplyDeleteO/T see that others have caught the story:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tmz.com/2012/03/30/keith-olbermann-current-tv-lawsuit-al-gore/
Maybe Keith should do his own web/blog page...he seems to be so cranky and doesn't get along with others...
LOL I just submitted the same suggestion in response to another comment. I would love the website idea or a satellite radio show of his own. He's irreplaceable - gotta give him credit, though, he does things on his own terms, and resurfaces.
DeleteGood-on-ya Java Joe!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, for having the backbone to stand for the GOP that no longer exists. The one where compromise isn't a dirty word.
ReplyDeleteCan you explain why you never mentioned why your buddy Pat Buchannon suddenly stopped shitting in one of the seats on your set?
Guess I'll start watching again because of what you said about Trayvon.
