Seriously what is it with the Obamas and babies?

Jesse, it might have something to do with the fact that they are real people, and not plastic wanna be politicians.

You can trust babies and little kids to know trustworthy, great authentic people. When I was 6 I told my mom that Richard Nixon was a jerk and she shouldn't vote for him.

My aunt was about 5 years old, it was 1968 and Nixon was running on getting tough on crime among his other lies.

After some tv coverage of a campaign speech by Nixon the older men (all Republicans) were discussing getting tough on criminals and hippies while the women cleaned up and washed dishes. Lock em up and throw away the keys. Cut their hair and shave those beards too. Nixon came back on tv and someone asked my aunt do you remember who that is? My aunt said "He's one of the bad guys that needs to be locked up right?"

After 1974 the women (who were not so Republican as their husbands) never forgot to bring up this story at family gatherings. By then some of the husbands thought Nixon should have been locked up too. 2 new generations know this story now.

We show them Nixon's "I am not a crook", and then we tell them how many crooks and lawbreakers there were.

As a young adult I thought the exact same thing of Richard Nixon.

In my case, it was when Nixon was running for VP with Eisenhower. My mom loved Ike. I had no idea about how it all worked but just seeing pics of Nixon(we didn't have tv)made me very suspicious of him and I told my mom not to vote for him. She just laughed which contributed to my early realization that my mom has really poor judgement of people. She still has crappy judgement of people.

It's simple: the Obamas have soul, their GOP competitors do not.

Notice Palinbots, Michelle doesn't need those fake Klondike Kardashian blow-up boobs to still be one hell of a classy woman. I have no hesitation in admitting my Admiration and Love (like Gryphen) for the FLOTUS!

Gotta suck to be a C4P'er now a'days with your heads all stuck in the sand.

So precious! Babies can sense when someone is kind, loving, and GENUINE. NUFF SAID.

Sarah Palin doesn't begin to look that good even w/the little ones living in her home. There assuredly have never been any photos printed/distributed in the media that show Sarah (the idiot from Wasilla) even remotely connected affectionately or loving toward the youngest!

No wonder her older ones have grown up and had so many troubles throughout the recent years. I shudder to think what Piper has in store for her with the teenage years fast approaching.

There is all the difference in the world between First Lady Michelle and Sarah Palin as parents/mothers. Michelle has her beat big time!

Babies can tell when people like them--not just that individual child, but like babies in general, have dealt with them & know what to do. Both of the Obamas meet the child's gaze, read their body language, & are comfortable holding & dealing with them. Unlike some.

One of the most telling moments I've ever seen of Palin was on her first book tour, she was doing an interview with Trig parked on her lap, supposedly reading him a book. As she babbled on, completely ignoring the baby, his head kept bobbing around, just missing jabbing the corner of the (hardback) book into his eye or forehead over & over. She never had a clue. Some minion stepped in & took him, I think those watching couldn't stand it anymore. It was painful to watch even on TV.

You left out the "sack of potatoes" incidents--as shown over and over and over. I live in Virginia, and when she visited Roanoke, the local news affiliates were all over her alleged arrival on the tour bus. And yes, they actually did show her plane to bus transfer.

It was freezing cold, middle of the night, everyone in coats, and here she comes down the steps of the bus with a nearly naked baby in arms. Even the most hardcore Republican grandmas understood that's not how you dress a baby in winter.

I've often noticed that when either of the Obamas are holding or near babies or children, they look at the CHILD. Most other politicians look at the CAMERAS.

The kids instinctively know whether they're being focused on or merely used as a photo op. That's why they always reach for the President or First Lady.

That is one of the sweetest gestures I've seen with that little precious baby reaching out like that to Michelle. It speaks VOLUMES to the level of utter safety the little one feels and to the magnetism our First Lady has. I never tire of seeing the Obamas with children, the deeply intimate moments truly shine right off the screen and leave me with a big grin on my face.

I am so thankful for our First Family, they are so beautiful and classy, and it is obvious by now that we can look forward to four more years of President Obama making us proud.
By their wonderful example, the rest of the world knows that not all Americans are crass ignorant assholes a la Palin (shudder).
    Obama 2012 landslide!

    *Sighs contentedly*

Not to get too global about this, but when either Obama responds to and is interested in babies, it means they know that what they're doing politically will have an impact on these children. They truly are caretakers for the future.

Babies aren't just produced because teenagers have hormones (which, of course, the Obamas understand), but they have an equal place in our world. Not as ornaments or status symbols. They're real people.

Jesus said "Succor the little children to come unto me." It looks like the little children see the gentleness, love, and goodness of the Obamas, and respond. Love that little guy reaching out for Michelle! They look like they're going to have a good time together.

So true. This President, more than most in my memory, has a deep sense of his place in history and a focus on the long term implications of his actions. Of course he always keeps his reelection in mind, but he looks much further down the road when creating his policies and programs, and seems to be far more concerned about how those policies will affect future generations than how they will affect his next poll.

Awwww, cute pic! Babies and children are drawn to the First Family by their sincerity. And I think, given the opportunity, that Triggy Bear & Tripp would be attracted them as well. :)

Babies gravitate towards good caring people. They have a sixth sense and that is one cute picture. If babies could vote they'd pick President Obama in a heartbeat.

  18. Babies and dogs have that sweet sense of innocence, curiosity and trust-and they are drawn to those that exude a purity of themselves to others. You can't fake goodness to their all-knowing eyes and senses, because they can see beyond the facade to the people we are within. They see with a real eye,and instinctual mind that does not lie, because they are still pure of heart.

    That is so cute!
By the way, Scarah has preschooler pix on her Facebook page...proving that Trig is still alive or something. Besides the awful state of Trig's eyes, which are severely crossed, did anyone catch the change in Tripp? The child is huge, as in overweight. I think the boys spent the winter in front of the TV. No wonder we don't see them any more...fat is not cute, hey, Bristol?

    What a sweet, sweet picture.

What I love about this image is that there is no age differentiation, no gender differentiation, no race differentiation.

All there simply is is a connection of person-to-person, heart-to-heart, soul-to-soul.

  24. Last fall at a funeral a man approached our one year old grandson...a baby who loves everyone. He screamed in terror. We were not only surprised but a little enbarrassed. We learned a couple of months later that that man was a dishonored priest and is now in prison for child abuse!

    Babies know.

That sweet little baby would have screamed in terror, if the First BITCH of Alaska would have approached him too, also, you betcha.
