Most of the time when I watch MTP I am simply bored, as the show has really gone downhill since Tim Russert passed away in my opinion. But today I was not bored, I was PISSED!
The topic was the Republican War on Women, and David Gregory asked Rachel to provide the framework.
This is what happened next.
Now Rachel Maddow is a VERY intelligent women who, has a great deal of respect for facts. She might be willing to debate what the facts mean, or how they came to be, but when somebody simply refuses to acknowledge their existence, she is literally stunned.
And that is what happened this morning. That Alex Castellanos asshole was clearly prepared ahead of time to jump on Rachel the minute that Gregory asked her a question, and interrupted her repeatedly because SHE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!
And Gregory, who is a pathetic excuse for a moderator, did NOTHING to shut Castellanos down and allow Rachel the opportunity to finish her point.
I swear that this appeared to be preplanned to me, and most likely signifies the going forward approach by Republicans to dealing with intelligent opponents, which is to disagree with reality and talk over them until they give up.
Now Rachel, to her credit, did NOT give up, and did manage to make her point. But as I was watching this I was literally yelling at David Gregory to man up and take back control of his show.
I swear that if Tim Russert was there he would have handed Castellanos his ass!
As a matter of fact I would like to see Gregory fired and have him replaced with Tim's son Luke Russert, who I think is a MUCH better interviewer, and does NOT allow people to steamroll over him despite his youth.
In other words, fuck Gregory, he is a disgrace the memory of Tim Russert and to the memory of what MTP once represented to the journalistic community!
By the way there was much more, and Hilary Rosen got in some good comments as well, which you can see by clicking here.
Update: My daughter watched the video of Castellanos talking over Rachel, and refusing to allow her finish her point, and said that it is kind of interesting to her that this guy is arguing that there is NO war on women while actively bullying a woman.
I thought that was a very astute observation.
David Gregory showed his true colors when he danced with "MC Rove." Republican shill -- and that's a compliment! He should be on FOX and leave MTP to real journalists like Rachel.

DeleteThat was at the White House Correspondent's Dinner about 3 years ago. A truly disgusting display. Gregory has no business moderating MTP.
Amen to that... unfortunately, the corporations control the message that is the "mainstream" media.
DeleteOh so that is what the libs are calling a smackdown on a newscaster that is suppose to know the facts. Rachel got her butt handed to her and was way over due. She couldnt come back to the table with an appropiate response to Obama's raping the medicare system, other than "I am not running for Vice President". Rachel's light has shined and now burned out. She ranks right down with Lawrence O'Donnel at this point.
DeleteI totally agree w/the original post - D.Gregory is a piss-poor moderator - definitely no where close to Tim Russert's class. I've been pissed at him sitting w/his thumb up his butt for the last couple of wks when Republicans state that Obama got X in add'l revenue & ignore the fact that he gave up $1.2 trillion in cuts w/o revenue gains b4 that. DG should be fired & we should have a real moderator w/a pair of cajones who will hold guests feet to the fire when they spew Beer Stein. Male or female - I don't care, but I believe there are plenty of competent people out there who would blow DG away. Rachel Maddow would be an outstanding replacement.
DeleteTotally agree w/the post - DG SUCKS. I've been pissed for the past weeks at the way he sits there w/his thumb up his butt while republicans state that he got X in add'l revenue while ignoring the fact that he gave up $1.2 Trillion in cuts b4 that. We deserve a moderator who's got a pair & will hold lyres feet to the fire & push back against their Beer Stein. I nominate Rachel Maddow - she would kick booty big time!
DeleteLOL, Rachel can't let the truth be heard. Women work less, leave to "raise" families or otherwise screw around, get degrees in crap, women's studies?!? really? You think that will help a business like a technical degree? I want to hire someone who has a degree in convincing themselves they are categorically a victim in this day and age?
DeleteLike the guy said, when you factor out marriage, women are competing just fine and even outperforming men, apples to apples. Them's the facts, stop being such a glenn beck there rachel.
What a condescending ASS... more proof that rethugs take issue with fact and truth... Rachel is one of the few journalists who tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...
ReplyDeleteshe sounds like a man hating idiot
DeleteI agree and I disagree.
ReplyDeleteYes, that GOP guy is a condescending asshole of the first order.
But, Rachel held her own and was pushing back. Gregory also interjected twice early on to have him let Rachel finish and then I think Rachel just made mincemeat of the GOP POS so further intervention by the host wasn't necessary.
As a woman, if Gregory had still tried to "come to her rescue" like she wasn't handling it (when clearly she was) that would have been condecending as well. Gregory tried early on to shut the guy up and then when Rachel was wipng the floor with him, Gregory let her. Good for him.
Will be interesting what she says on her show tomorrow about this.
And, yes, we all miss Tim Russert, God rest his soul.
I saw the end of this and was disgusted. Rachel is the smartest woman around, and those people did indeed, ambush her. And who was that woman who insisted that "we want women to say what is best for them, not the government' while supporting a government that would take away any choices at all? Do they really think we're that stupid? we are not.
ReplyDeleteUM, I object to you saying "rachel is the smartest woman around"...EFF you..Rachel Maddow is the smartest PERSON around....PERIOD.
DeleteI feel bad for saying "eff you" but, seriously, you're just feeding into chauvinism by saying that "smart women" have to be separated from men. They don't. We can compete.
Wouldn't it have been great if, as the big condescending asshat was belittling one of the smartest women on television, she says, "That's Dr. Maddow to you..." And it's from OXFORD, no less! She's too humble for that, but that guy really deserves to be put in his place.
Delete@6:33 Agreed...she is the most intelligent person on TV right now. I was just so ticked at Alex for being so condescending to her. I felt like he wanted to pat her on the head and tell her to go bake some cookies. And don't swear at me...I agree with you...
DeleteApparently you have never watched The Wall Street Journal Editorial show. The people who clean the set after the show sport a greater intellect than RM. And for goodness sake, does she always have to wear an expression etched on her face like she just smelled a fart in an elevator?
DeleteOf course you know that Rachel wants to take away gun rights.
DeleteDavid Gregory was a poor replacement for Tim Russert. I could not believe that NBC chose him over anyone else. He has always been biased in his reporting. Poor Tim is rolling over in his grave and he was so excited for that 2008 election. I truly miss him.
ReplyDeleteAnd that condescending jackass telling Rachel that her passion was good but basically she should shut up and let the big old white man tell his piece. I almost spit. I hope everyone that sees that interview will be able to just point at it and say yes there is a war on women and that is proof right there.
And I am sorry but that other republican woman (senator I believe) has her choke collar on tight and the leash close if she was able to say that crap with a smile. Very scary people and they are running the country.
That other republican woman is Representative Cathy McMorris Rogers, from wingnut Republican/teabagger country, Cheney (ironic, isn't it?) in eastern Washington state.
DeleteAgreed. David Gregory has got to go. He simply refuses to challenge the most ridiculous comments made on his show. When a guest says something that he knows is a bold lie he has an obligation to his audience to challenge that person. The hair man simply doesn't care about any of this political stuff. Gregory is only concerned with his celebrity and his bank account. As long as he hosts this show NBC is regulated to second tier status.
DeleteEven has a conservative/moderate, I admire Rachel for her integrity and her ability to admit she was wrong. She's just a great person and damn nice.
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow wasn't wrong, she was right. Conservatives never admit they are wrong, because they lack integrity, and are mean-spirited assholes.
Deleteoh wow! really! and she does have integrity? seriously, she lives in a fantasy land.
DeleteI agree that David Gregory should be fired, but I don't think Luke Russert has enough seasoning yet to get this job. He's still learning. I've always felt that either Rachel herself should get it because she listens to both sides, or Eugene Robinson. He's smart, quick and listens well too. Also, it would be a good thing for someone to promote a person of color to a significant Sunday post. I don't know if Gene would leave his WaPo position, but I think he'd do very well.
ReplyDeleteP.S. My brother showed me how to put my name up front. W00t! After all these years.
OMG. Not stuttering Eugene. I couldn't take that clogged voice and the stuttering for one hour.
DeleteI can't take Rachel's giggling and eye batting for an extra hour.
No way for Eugene Robinson. He's a terrible speaker and is the unchallenged master of the obvious.
DeleteDavid Gregory sucks! I quit watching when he was hired, I miss Tim he was a real man. NBC could have done allot better.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. David Gregory never takes control of his own show and basically just sits on the set and asks questions every so often. And as far as this interview goes, I do think Rachel made the better argument and Alex Castellanos came off as an ass. That he speaks for women of any party is a total joke, but he seems to think he has it all figured out. Alex, just because you say something is true, doesn't make it so. Rachel has more integrity in a strand of her hair than he does in his whole body and the viewers can see that.
ReplyDeleteThis is what the Tea Bag driven Republican Party is reduced to. Women don't make less than men do because I say so. With unsupportable, made up "Numbers."
ReplyDeleteThere is no "War On Women." Even though there are upwards of 500 bills in State Legislatures that promote the most restrictive measures imaginable on women's health and contraception. And A Woman's Right to Chose is the Law of the Land.
Because they say so there is no need to re-authorize The Violence Against Women Act because, well, there is no violence against women that needs our attention. (Which a sage on Stephanie Miller's Show dubbed "The Bitch Had It Coming Act.")
Lots of women have lost their jobs during the Obama Administration (so actually HE is BAD for women) because Tea Bag newly elected Republican Governors have disproportionally laid off female workers like: teachers, nurses, librarians and social workers.
David Gregory is an ass hat. Rachael held her own. What the Republicans are doing is as old as Karl Rove's tactics.
Take your own biggest weakness, turn it around, and smash it into your opponent and hope you confuse people.
Not this time folks.
You got that right! It wasn't enough to watch Boehner smirk and drink his way into the Speaker's chair. It wasn't enough to hear McConnell swear to take out Obama. It wasn't enough for teh GOP to block or ruin every piece of legislation meant to dig us out of their hole. No, they had to attack women. Well, their time is finished. You guys signed up with the devil in the form of Norquist (shouldn't it be illegal to take pledges against your constituents?) and you are about to pay the piper. Obama and progressive Democrats all the way!
Deletecannot abide Stretch...won't even watch when he's on the Nightly News.
ReplyDeleteI'm outraged just hearing about it, and I probably won't watch it, but I'd be willing to bet it backfires on them in a big way.
ReplyDeleteWhen they televised the OJ trial, we got all kinds of lessons about the law and lawyers. Why were OJ's lawyers always interrupting the witness, offering objections, especially when Judge Ito did not rule in their favor. The legal expert (Greta, can you imagine!) explained that it was a common defense tactic, to stop the witness's train of thought, interrupt what he was saying, getting the person off point.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lawyer friend who does the same thing in conversation. He and his wife want to be the stars of the evening. They actually rehearse cute little stories to entertain the rest of us. God forbid that any of us should have an equally interesting experience to share. Then, the lawyer goes into full defense mode, interrupting with stupid questions, "How many people were in the car?" "Was it raining out?" Who cares? It has nothing to do with the story, but he manages to interrupt and steal attention from another story teller.
Apply the same kind of thinking to the people that we see on TV, interrupting the person who is making a good point. I think that it is usually the person with a weak case who interrupts the better speaker. To her credit, no one gets Rachel off topic. She sticks to a subject like glue.
Rachel is the real Pit Bull. I think she might even be wearing lipstick, just not the bright, obvious kind. She is way more of a "Hockey Mom" than Sarah ever thought of being.
DeleteCan't stand David Gregory, but certainly don't understand your high opinion of Tim Russert. He was Karl Rove's bitch.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but it seems we are in the minority about Tim Russert.
DeleteAgreed. I always thought his reputation for being a tough journalist was undeserved. He let Bush get away with murder. David Gregory is pathetic. He doesn't even attempt to look unbiased. Just look at who he books every week on the show. Republicans consistently outnumber Democrats.
DeleteThen again, I guess we should look at who owns all of the media - a handful of conservative white men. Seems hopeless.
I agree. Tim Russert was a sell out. And, his son? When Luke comes on, I mute the TV. He has very poor analytic skills & his knowledge base is very slim. There have been times I've literally laughed out loud when he comes out to explain something that happened in Congress. OMG, I don't know, but I don't think he & I were watching the same Congress! lol
DeleteHis position at NBC/MSNBC was a golden opportunity for him - when his dad passed, he needed a job. Luke is a legacy hire. i wish they'd get rid of Gregory, Luke & Chuck Todd.
Rachel on the other hand, is a one in a million & pure gold. What I wouldn't give to chat one on one with her. The Republicans are deathly afraid of her. I agree, I think today was a set up, but they forget that not only is Rachel superbly intelligent, she is also a quick thinker & fast on her feet. She could wipe the floor up with those assholes.
Rachel & the President could together wipe out the whole Republican & teaparty partiers. That would be a sight to see. I'd pay good money to see that. :)
Why are so many Republican men orange?
ReplyDeleteGood question. Perhaps they're carrot juicing.
DeleteBile is my guess.
DeleteWatched this on Maddow's site this morning and was at a loss for words - but did you notice how 'silent' the Republican women were? How they didn't jump in to either defend or negate either maddow or Castellanos?
ReplyDeleteThey just sat there. Like the good, obedient women they've been trained to be...
The numbers Castellanos tossed out were wrong for this discussion. Those figures (40k vs 47k) were from a study/poll taken to show that women are currently becoming the family breadwinners under the current economy - but it has nothing to do with comparing what women make at the same job as her male counterpart. So Castellanos' figures were apples to Maddow's oranges. But hey it's what the Republicans do...
-OzMud
Numbers don't lie.......people do.
DeleteThe try to base their numbers on the fact that not only are women working full time, tney are also the primary caregivers, so yes, they may leave at 5 and not 5:30 and thus are rightly (in the GOP view) penalized by not moving up the corporate ladder. I was just talking to a friend whose well-educated daughter replaced a man in a job and not only earned .73 on the dollar, she earned .20! She did more work than her did, and made 50,000 a year, while the guy had been making 5 times that. She also did her own translations into German; the guy hired it out at company expense. Now, Alex A-hole, tell me again that women do not make less than men. This happens ALL the time.
DeleteThis is the 3 year old study obviously prepared by another RWNJ that Alex Castellanos offered via Twitter* as "proof" of his claim that there is no income disparity for women compared to men:
Deletehttp://www.swifteconomics.com/2009/09/21/lies-damned-lies-and-statistics-the-wage-gap/
(*His Twitter response to @sharm629: "could be but read this explain http://bit.ly/33KGzC " [@sharm629: @alexcast @maddow @meetthepress Sorry Maddow is not the one who is wrong.])
A fellow progressive here ...
ReplyDeleteAfter two viewings I still didn't see anything wrong -- other than Alex Castellano being an arrogant, condescending asshole.
David Gregory interrupted him twice, and the second time succeeded in re-directing the conversation back to Maddow who then (typically) slammed her point home quite forcefully and eloquently.
Whether or not there was any "ambush," I think Maddow is perfectly capable of sticking up for herself since very few people are harder to "best" in a political discussion.
IMHO, looking for a "slam" here helps distract from the points Rachel was making: that yes, the Republicans are engaging in a "war on women," and any woman who supports Republican candidates in 2012 is only helping to perpetuate the institutionalized oppression of her gender.
That said, thank you for helping to spread Rachel's message by posting the clip, and for creating a place to discuss it.
I seriously doubt, if Rachael was male, that Alex Castillanos would have the balls to pull numbers our of his ass and be so condescending. Say what you want about Rachael, she knows her stuff and does her own legwork to trust but verify her facts.
ReplyDeleteDavid Gregory looks like a stand in for "Planet of the Apes" and will let the republican's and right wing pundits go on and on, but reign in or ignore any opposing opinion.
It's not so much the war on women (and it is correctly called "War" but it's not moderating a political conversation by letting the "listen and obey" brigade to sit silently while the asshat (Alex Castellanos" tosses out false facts and insists their true.
Can't wait for Rachael's take on her own show, perhaps invite Alex to delve further one on one with the facts.
Tom Russert knew his stuff, and Luke could easily take his place, neither were condescending, loose with the facts or not aware of what's happening on a show they're moderating.
You're right, look at Alex's face, this was pre planned, but Rachael held her own and didn't cave.
Luke Russert? I always thought Rachael would be great on that show as the moderator. David Gregory should be fired as he stains Tim Russert's memory every single weekend. Fire David and replace him with Dr. Rachael Maddow.
ReplyDeleteAnd then we want Rachel to moderate a Presidential debate!!
DeleteYeah...George Stephanapolous used to be a Democratic operative, but you don't see him trading Democrats with kid gloves. Why, oh why, do the media continue to cater to the GOP?
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow Coolly Smacks Down ‘Condescending’ GOP Strategist On MTP
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mediaite.com/tv/rachel-maddow-coolly-smacks-down-condescending-gop-strategist-on-meet-the-press/
Insult, condescend, deny, belittle and outshout. That's their campaign strategy??? How about they talk about actual reality? How about giving us some proposed solutions other than NOT OBAMA???
ReplyDeleteThey don't HAVE solutions, that's why.
DeleteIf they lie, divert attention and gin up fear long enough and loudly enough, they figure the uninformed GOP voters will nod and agree because they never hear the truth or facts anyway.
Do a little Googling to find out who owns ALL of the media. Think few. White. Conservative. Men.
ReplyDeleteWatched it this morning and then re-watched the segment to focus on the details. Can't wait for Rachel's show tomorrow night. Our favorite policy wonk will go for the gold and reveal each data point and nuance. She will do it with respect and then she will invite Castellano to sit down with her on her show to discuss his POV.
ReplyDeleteThis little idiot's performance is repeated in business/academic meetings about (I estimate) every 3 seconds in the workday. Women deal with this garbage so often handling it is second nature. It's true that sometimes it's a woman pulling the stunt, but usually it's a man.
ReplyDeleteAnother favorite activity for this type of idiot is to listen to me talking in a meeting, then address the rest of the people of the meeting, to say "what she is TRYING to say is... " followed by EXACTLY what I just said. The guy is so desperate to squash a woman and coat himself with glory he has no idea what a moron he is.
Naturally we'd all prefer to see Rachael Maddow debate people of equal intellectual stature, but TV land is not over endowed with such individuals. And it's always a pleasure to watch Maddow "adjust" the thinking of those around her.
Wouldn't it be better if we all wrote to MTP execs to express what a wimp we think Gregory is and that we will refuse to watch the show if he's their "mediator? " Ratings, people! That's all they care about. And I have to believe they've only received mediocre ratings at best since they put him on.
ReplyDeleteI'm a liberal girl and I thought Rachel rocked it - facts win every time. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, if nothing else, it gets us all fired up and ready to vote these jokers out of every office they currently hold. I don't need any condescending white male to tell me when I need to be probed, preached to or prevented from doing what I think is best for my body.
ReplyDeleteGreat report here

I think the fact that he cuts her off is not significant in that it shows how Republicans don’t want to discuss this issue. I think it is significant in that at the same time that he is arguing that women are treated as equals in the workplace he is failing to treat a woman as an equal in the workplace.
gregory is a lame ass fuckhole. He proved that fact in this clip
ReplyDeleteI have noticed this as well- what is wrong with these moderators? It seems like it's a free-for-all and be damned with the facts or truth. There has been many times of late when I've yelled at the TV because someone is belching out some line of bull and the moderator is just looking straight faced and nodding. Like the facts are bendable as long and the hype is there to sell the show.
ReplyDeleteI find it very interesting when I see this kind of behavior from the right (which is pretty much constantly)because it's clear that they KNOW they can't actually win the argument.
ReplyDeleteThey're not even TRYING to really state a case or debate an issue. They clearly have no interest whatsoever in attempting to win over any new converts to their point of view. All they're interested in is:
A: Preventing the other side from stating their case
B: Making a show of bullying and beating them down verbally to please the brain damaged reptiles who confuse "leadership quality" and "competence" with merely being a loudmouthed, abusive asshole.
You know, "Constitutional Conservatives", Sarah Palin fans and people who think Chris Christie would make a terrific President.
And yeah, David Gregory is a flaccid pile of dog vomit who needs to be scooped up and tossed. Whoever signed off on handing him Russert's show should also be flushed.
So much for the "in the tank for Obama librul meedia", eh $$arah?
To squash my self-esteem, someone routinely questioned "stupid" authors of books & articles.
ReplyDeleteAll you need to know about this is that none of the rightwingnuts DARE to appear on Rachel's show, as they are aware if they try the crap they get away with on Fox, she will make them look like the pathetic weasels they are.
ReplyDeleteMaybe once in a month, someone with at least a partial backbone, will think he can spar with Maddow...she TRIES to be patient and kind, but when they go off on some tangent like how the President is actually from Neptune, she takes her intellectual thumb and squishes the moron into the floor.
Its a delight to watch.
I actually watched the show this morning and totally agree with your evaluation Gryp. I could not believe my ears, if I would be able to chat with Rachel...I would have to ask her how she can maintain her dignity sitting next to that lying blowhole Alex while Gregory sat there. I felt like putting my foot into the TV. The first guest was just as bad, lies, lies, lies...then these 2 spewing forth nothing but lies. I think Rachel is gonna dig up a bunch of clips during the primary where Alex was trashing Romney and supporting another asshole. As for Gregory...I haven't watched that show since we lost Tim, unless someone I like is on. Rachel is just another one of their hated groups....gay. Too bad she isn't black or Hispanic, that would make them explode like Obama does. Sheer jealousy
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful we have Rachel on our side! She really inspires me.
ReplyDeleteRachel was in Seattle recently discussing her book Drift. I thoroughly enjoyed the informative discussion and thought I would share the video in case anyone else wanted to watch it. It's about an hour long but worth watching!
http://seattlechannel.org/americanpodium/
-Alicat
Earlier in the show, I watched while Gregory questioned smarmy GOP tool Ed Gillespie. He was asked about Joe Biden's statement that under Obama, bin Laden was dead and General Motors was alive, and questioning whether the reverse would have happened under Romney.
ReplyDeleteWell, needless to say, Gillespie started whining about how the Democrats had "politicized" the killing of Osama bin Laden. The whole time, I was ranting at the TV about how all of the Republicans last year politicized bin Laden’s death by claiming that Bush deserved most of the credit for it, while totally refusing to give Obama any credit whatsoever. Gregory never even mentioned this. He also never challenged Gillespie on whether GM would now be dead had Romney been president for the last three years.
A good moderator asks the same questions (in a calmer and more reasoned tone) that I’m screaming at the television. Rachel, of course not only does this, but asks questions I never even thought of which is why she is so great at what she does. She would make a great replacement for Gregory, but it will probably never happen. MTP, since Tim Russert’s passing, isn’t much better than Fox News lite.
Boy, you hit it on the head. Gregory after letting Gillespie state a series of out and out distortions and lies completely twisting the truth and refusing to challenge him with even his usual lame questions then went after Hilary Rosen on her Ann Romney comments. Ignoring that she apologized weeks ago for her comments and then profusely apologized again, Gregory kept up a back and forth with her that was infuriating. And it had nothing to do with the issue of equality for women. Gregory was exposed as a coward with Gillespie and a bully with Hilary Rosen.

ReplyDeleteGet it before it's pulled
Nobody gets one over on Rachel Maddow, especially not patronizing assholes like Alex Castellanos and the failed political party he's associated with.
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow Makes History and Triumphs over the War On Women
ReplyDelete...Castellanos’s behavior towards Maddow proved that the Republican Party has declared war on women. By watching the video, you can see his condescending tone directed at Maddow. When he said that he appreciated her passion, but that she was wrong, he was trying to portray her as an irrational woman who was being guided by her emotions.
The fact that Alex Castellanos thought he had the right to demean Dr. Rachel Maddow’s intellect because she is a woman demonstrates that the Republican Party’s war on women goes deeper than politics and policy. In their hearts, they truly believe that women aren’t equal to men.
It was enraging and embarrassing to watch Rachel Maddow get treated that way on national television. It is even more embarrassing to think that most men, including myself, have behaved that way at one time or another towards a woman. (The good news is that men can learn, grow, and change if they really want to.)
The Republican war on women is a political affirmation of misogyny. The Republican message to men is vote for us to reclaim your rightful place of superiority. You don’t have to change. Women are beneath you. Let’s keep them in their place. We can stop progress. Sadly, there is a group of men in this country who find the prospect of codified misogyny both attractive and exciting.
The goal was to put Rachel Maddow in her place, and to stop the “hysteria” from the “girls” who don’t understand that because men say so there is no war on women and pay gap.
When Rachel Maddow called out Alex Castellanos’s misogyny on Meet The Press it was an historic moment in the push back against the war on women. I can’t remember another woman in the media standing up and calling out the condescending behavior of the right wing champions of the war on women. The mainstream media, except for MSNBC, has mostly ignored the war on women. Much like the Republican Party, the media has acted like it does not exist.
Republicans are afraid. They don’t want the country to know about their anti-woman agenda, and they would love nothing more than to discredit one of the primary national watchdogs of their behavior, Rachel Maddow.
But this is bigger than Rachel Maddow on Meet The Press. This is a civil rights issue that impacts all Americans regardless of gender. There are no men’s issues, or women’s issues. There are American issues, and we all must stand together to reject the agenda of discrimination and inequality being perpetuated on us by the Republican Party under the guise of a war on women.
Because this isn’t a war on women, it’s a war on us all.
http://www.politicususa.com/rachel-maddow-war-on-women.html
I was on the bus to Austin, Texas this weekend to gather with other women (and men that respect women) on the capitol steps.
ReplyDeleteThe crowd of 400/500 was amazing; ALL ages, genders, ethnicity's, and orientations. One young woman was dressed like a super heroine - her sign read "We have the power". There were a couple of goth girls. More than one senior women were there with signs that read "I can't believe I am still having to protest this shit."
The take-away message was: VOTE! Every woman you know must be registered to VOTE! Every woman must go to the polls and VOTE!
I really don't see your point. Rachel had a chance to make her case and did. She had the majority of time and Gregory did a good job of moderating the conversation. Your only problem is, Rachel got her ass handed to her. It was bound to happen sooner or later considering how much ammo she provides with her endless babbling rants.
ReplyDeleteThe anger at Rachel being beaten at her own game is understandable. Don't blame Gregory because he was more than fair in giving Rachel more time than Castellanos got. Hopefully Rachel will learn something from this but unfortunately she is hopelessly flawed if only in the fact that she's a very angry and ranting lesbian. She's intimidated by men because she looks up to men as her heroes. Ever notice how she's so taken in by the troops nonsense and how she supports America's wars?
ReplyDeleteAlong with Alex Castellanos and David Gregory, I found myself yelling at the camera director! He televised the two-shot of Alex and Rachel even after she (finally) got the floor, all the while Alex mugged and rolled his eyes behind her. Was it to make him look like a douche? (It worked), or was it to undermine the point she was trying to make? (It worked - had to listen to it again.) Either way, they owe her an apology.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to watch David Gregory.....anytime,anywhere....period.
ReplyDeleteThis show was a farce. Maddow refused to address the labor facts presented to her. Journalist? Ha, what a joke!
ReplyDeleteGregory isn't even qualified to sit in the same chair that Tim Russert sat in! Every week he serves up big fat softball questions.
ReplyDeleteRachel Maddow is book-smart, but incredibly intectually-dishomest when it comes to presenting information,
ReplyDeleteyes, she is,TOTALLY!
DeleteRachel's comments involving the Arizona cattle stand off are ignorant. she is wrong!!! the constitution was written to protect the common people from tyranny from their own government. she tried to make it a racial issue. ignorant and stupid!
ReplyDeleteso if it were up to rachel maddow, the goverment would come in and take all our rights, especially gun rights. then what would happen, we would all have to learn russian. you think your women rights are bad now, wait till we are all disarmed and dumbass rachel maddow is wearing all black with a black veil and getting abused everyday by someone that wears a towel on his head.
ReplyDelete
