With Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas back in the nation's capital, Washington Capitals fans weren't going to let him forget his skipped trip to the White House.
At Game 3 of the Bruins-Capitals playoff series Monday night, several spectators showed up with pictures of President Barack Obama and signs taunting Thomas.
In January, he didn't show up when the rest of the Bruins were invited to the Stanley Cup champions' traditional visit to the president's office.
Thomas, born in Michigan, said at the time he believes the federal government "has grown out of control."
Yeah somehow I believe that if George W. Bush, the man who REALLY grew the government out of control, was in the White House little Timmy would be at the front of the line to get his picture taken with him.
Don'tcha think?
Thomas is just a pussy. Nothing more.
ReplyDeleteYes, throwing us all in in two far off wars that costs us $4,745 a second. A second. For ten years.
ReplyDeleteCreating Homeland Security and TSA? That's growing government don't you think?
But the debts on our children wasn't a concern, it was the free market and capitalism at work. But god forbid a man with a frightening name and colored skin inherits a broke-ass government and all the blame is piled on him and criticism that he can't right the Titanic's tiny rudder in under three years.
Mind you, Sarah Palin said she and John McCain would have fixed the deficit a year ago into their term.
Can you imagine? Her and Todd sitting down with their red pens and arbitrarily crossing out projects with years of planning and due diligence because their tiny little brains couldn't comprehend what constitutes a "Government Responsibility?"
Austerity measures would be so severe, death panels abound. . .but you could bet Sarah's request for reimbursements would nickle and dime the government to the mat.
Dude! You rock!

Delete"Rep. Allen West was expected as the special draw for a Long Island GOP congressional hopeful - but his team pulled the plug on his appearance because his fellow candidate couldn't direct $10,000 of what was being raised to the Florida congressman's campaign, emails obtained by POLITICO show.
The invitation for the April 22 fundraiser for candidate Stephen Labate, bearing West's name, had already gone out when West's camp pulled the plug.
Emails between West fundraiser Carolyn Machado and an adviser to Labate, show the two discussing the event two weeks ago. The fundraiser sent along the address where checks should be sent, asking that they be made to "Allen West for Congress" and received by close of business April 20.
The Labate aide responded that the campaign couldn't guarantee $10,000 in checks, because the event wouldn't bring in much more than that, and asked if it would be a problem.
Machado replied, "[T]hink it will be a problem, as you know, Rep West is a top target and we are spending every moment raising funds. The campaign folks in FL are unwilling to send him anywhere unless that goal can be met."
Amid the back-and-forth, the invitations went out, but West is still not coming.
West's team did not respond to questions about the $10,000 goal and whether that is standard for the congressman to request when he attends fundraisers for other candidates. But they insisted this event was never finalized.
"It is my understanding LaBate for Congress was discussing a possible fundraiser with Congressman West," said West chief of staff Jonathan Blyth. "The event was never finalized; however, it seems that the campaign sent out an invitation prematurely. The logistics for the proposed event were unable to be worked out. With regard to your other question, Congressman West just announced yesterday that he had raised almost $2 million dollars this quarter and you can understand Congressman West's messages resonates in all regions of the United and he raises funding for his campaign all throughout the nation."
Machado, asked about the emails, said, "I'm sorry there was never an event approved or scheduled with the Congressional candidate. We wish him the best of luck."
UPDATE: A source close to Labate's camp said West is already going to be in the Long Island area on the night in question for a fundraiser for his own campaign, which is why the request was initially made for him to appear. The source insisted that West had indeed confirmed for the Labate event, which was why invitations were sent.
"Why would they send out an invitation with him on it and risk (angering people) if he wasn't confirmed?" said the source."

That Labate/West "missed opportunity" sounds eerily reminiscent of some of the "misunderstandings" between groups who thought they'd lined up an appearance by Sarah Palin, and the non-committal responses (because sufficient funds hadn't changed hands?) from her camp.
DeleteIf I remember correctly, the only legitimate reason to turn down an invitation to the Oval Office is if you have a previous engagement at Buckingham Palace.
ReplyDeleteWho would Sarah Palin visit?
DeletePresident Obama or the President of England, the Queen?
Hockey players aren't known for their brains.... I am sure he only watches Faux News.
ReplyDeleteGotta love those hockey fans.
ReplyDeleteThey even booed the self annointed hockey mom Sarah Palin in Philadelphia.
The stadium had to play loud music to drown out the boos for Sarah.
"Gov. Sarah Palin is roundly booed while dropping first puck at Philadelphia Flyers New York Rangers hockey game. Note the fans in the bkgd and how the PA blasts the music to wash out the reaction."

She, PiperPalin, and Bristle are too stupid to know that they are being boo'd, or perhaps they have no shame?
DeleteI live in philly, we're rough on our sports teams, but were made it known Sarah isn't welcome. One of her "stops" was the Irish Pub, McCains people came in and we were asked to leave. Haven't gone there since, and I doubt others have either.
DeleteSarah was so stoopid, she stood with a pen in her hand, smiling, and reaching her other hand out, as if people wanted to get her autograph or meet her. We brushed by her, only to be greeted by protest signs.
When they said Sarah dropped the Puck, my husband turned to me and said "poor kid" ha! ha!

LOVE the picture! I wonder if anyone has a picture of the next scene...where Thomas is attacking the guys behind the glass and he's snarling like an out of control dog and screaming obscenities!
ReplyDeleteHey it could have happened!
LOL!
That picture gave me the giggles. You could tell they were so enjoying goading the hockey player.

Grew up in MA longtime Bruins fan but now live in DC and root for Caps. Thomas skipping the WH visit pissed me off more than anything in sports last year what a douche. Too bad we couldn't also get the win last night (Marchand the diver should be playing soccer not hockey, flopper). Rock the Red!
ReplyDeleteFuck You Tim Thomas!
ReplyDeleteThat's my CAPS fans! Woot! Good for them!
ReplyDeleteThomas is a libertarian, so he would have not gone to see Bush either.
ReplyDeleteYour ignorance is showing.
Not a Caps fan but this is a GREAT picture. Thomas is an asshole and he deserves to be mocked.
ReplyDeleteJan Brewer would be so proud....
ReplyDeleteAlso, as an fyi, 'bruin' is a Dutch word,
ReplyDeletemeaning.....
you guessed it!
BROWN
Tim Thomas has no problem making his money in stadiums built with taxpayer money.
ReplyDeleteHe also has no problem playing with a group of guys who have come to this country to take jobs…high paying jobs that kids dream about having some day…from Americans.
Shortly after his 'no show', I was proud to add to the Thomas 'booing' at the All Star game in Ottawa, Canada. His 'no show' didn't go unnoticed in Canada either.
ReplyDeleteI could feel his attitude go from plain conceited to thinking he was IMMORTAL (aka Sarah Palin Disease) when his team won last year.
ReplyDeleteIf Karma has them coming in around 5th place this season, with his goaltending record one of the worst in the league, he may come back down to earth once again...and, like Sarah, pine for a chance to meet the President.
Hey, maybe Tim had an appointment for a colon cleanse, manicure and pedicure that day? Those take months to get in Baaahston!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excuse: The federal government is too big. At least racists can hide behind that phony statement.
