President Obama speaks at the White House Forum on Women and the Economy

This is a great speech and it certainly illustrates how much this administration has done for women, and stands in stark contrast to the current GOP "War on Women."

The President clearly illustrates how important the women in his life were to him growing up, and how important the women in his life are to him today. I don't know about all of you, but I certainly sense his sincerity.

I really do feel that women are going to win this 2012 election for the President.

My question is, why do the GOP WANT to lose? Seriously, NO political creature is so incompetent (or lacking in a sense of self-preservation) that they'd consistently put themselves on the wrong side of EVERY possible issue, except by purposeful intent.

You watch the primaries and all you see is a group of people bound and determined to say the most negative, unpopular things they can possibly think of.

    WTF, I say.

They have created a meme that only resonates with their BASE and not with the general populace.

They should get a new base then, 'cause this one is broken. Not to mention sad and a world-wide embarrassment to humanity...

I just don't see much of a future in pandering to slack jawed yokels who actually believe "ANYONE is better than Obama" (a.k.a. "I'll vote for ANYONE who'll spit in the face of that uppity Kenyan narcissist dictator!")

I mean, technically I'm sure there's *someone* out there somewhere who could be doing a better job, but of the nitwits putting in their applications, you'd have to have a death wish to vote for a Republican. Again.

I'll be forced to vote democrat again just like I was in 2008. Frankly, I'd rather have to make a real choice between two meaningful points of view, but I refuse to validate the kindergarden antics of the right or pretend that snarky bumpersticker slogans and spiteful platitudes equal "a plan"... (I'm looking at YOU $$arah)

They REALLY need to dispense with the empty bumper sticker slogans and the "whatever HE said, I'm against" and actually do their JOBS AS OUR SERVANTS and come up with some meaningful, practical, pragmatic solutions to all this bullshit they've created.

-And stop with the stupid posturing and emptyheaded ideology while they're at it.

I think the Republicans still have not entered the present day. They still seem to believe that we're in the steampowered Etch-a-Sketch era when you could say something different every day and no one would remember. This is the internet age, and the internet's memory NEVER FADES.

The one benefit of a Romney nomination is that Jon Stewart can once again put together those hilarious montages where clips of the candidate has arguments with himself.

      So, at least there's that.

      (cue "Obama's PROVEN lies"/"felled socialist policies" troll in 3... 2... 1...)

"Does the GOP WANT to lose?" - Yes, kind of mind-blowing, isn't it, to see the the right/GOP candidates shoot themselves in the foot again and again during an election year.

It defies rational thought. Don't they realize women vote?

I think it has something to do with karma. This party has aided and abetted so many awful policies, and that ugliness is just coming right back at them.

They are destroying themselves - Obama can just concentrate on doing the best job he can, while his opposition drowns in it's own venom. It's really very zen, in a way.

What an amazing speech - I wish more people would see this man for what he really stands for instead of the fear-mongering crock of crap the opposition wants people to think he stands for...

I completely agree, Gryph. In Massachusetts, it's the women who are leading the charge for his re-election campaign. I guess that's not so surprising in a blue state, but I've heard from friends in Texas and Arkansas that it's the women in their area doing the same.

Obama's going to kick some serious booty in November!

I have to say....2 things that really piss me off that Democrats do not point out. First...the amount of women that have lost jobs over men, because of Obama. Seriously? No one remembers these horrible Republican govenors that laid off zillions of teachers and state employees...you know women were the first to go. Second....keep reminding us that Obama signed another extension of Bush's tax cuts for the rich. Seriously? The congress had a gun to his head over extending unemploymnent benefits or else? It just makes me furious how they spin these lies against this man that consistantly acts for our benefit. To listen to these asswipes saying there is not a war on women is the ultimate insult. They all lied to get elected, Walker being the poster boy of lies, and did nothing for jobs but try to tear down every damn hard fought law for the middle class. I am so glad Alec is finally in the light of day along with the Koch brothers, Susan Komen, and our shitty supreme court. If women ruled the world you know there would be no more wars!

They seem to have this twisted, Goebbels-like notion that if they do all these horrible things to the country, they'll be able to blame our President for them later.

You know, that whole demented sociopath logic that says: "hey, it's not MY fault she got raped, she should've known better than to let me into her house!"

'Cause they've proven time and again they're all about blaming the victims.
