Meet the Press to include Joe Scarborough and Luke Russert as regular panelists.

Courtesy of Media bistro:

Luke Russert, who’s father Tim Russert served as moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press” for 17 years, will join the Sunday morning show as a regular panelist, “Page Six” reports.

The New York Post also reports that “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough “is taking on a larger role within NBC News as a senior political analyst and would be one of the regular Sunday panelists.”

As many of you know I actually hoped that Luke would get the MTP gig that went to Chuck Todd, so I am fine with his reoccurring appearance on the show.

However I am much less impressed by the inclusion of Scarborough whose style I associate with drunk frat boy behavior.

Sometimes I wake up early enough to catch the last bit of Morning Joe, and it never fails to irritate the crap out of me and make me want to punch Scarborough in his bulbous nose.

Overall I have to say that I am not terribly confident that MTP is going to be able to get itself back on track and once again become the mainstay of Sunday mornings that it was under the leadership of the elder Russert.

Is David Gregory out at Meet the Press? Or is somebody just teasing us?

Wait, what's happening?
Courtesy of Politico:

Chuck Todd, the NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent, is likely to succeed David Gregory as moderator of "Meet the Press," with the change expected to be announced in coming weeks, top political sources told POLITICO's Mike Allen.

The move is an effort by NBC News President Deborah Turness to restore passion and insider cred to a network treasure that has been adrift since the death of Tim Russert in 2008. Gregory, his replacement, suffered from low ratings and, in recent months, an onslaught of negative press reports.

While Todd is not a classic television performer, sources said his NBC bosses have been impressed by his love of the game, which brings with it authenticity, sources and a loyal following among newsmakers and political junkies.

Of course NBC has been quick to try and squash these rumors, but considering how often this  rumor starts circulating I have to think that there is definitively something to it.

Like many of you I am no fan of Gregory.

However though Chuck Todd would be an improvement, he would not be much of one.

I would REALLY like to see somebody in the job who had a great love of politics, and little patience with bullshit.

Somebody who could be respectful while refusing to let a guest spin a question to their liking, or avoid it altogether.

Actually to be honest, and I know this will never happen, my emotional choice would be for young Luke Russert to take over the position that his father once commanded with such integrity.

I think that Luke would take the job incredibly seriously and I believe he would rise to the challenge.

But that will never happen, so I guess I will just have to be happy that Gregory gets tossed out on his skinny ass instead.

Michele Bachmann receives pair of Google glass. Stunned to learn what Google has to say about her.

Can you imagine Michele Bachmann functioning with a pair of these on her head?

I don't think that on her BEST days she is able to walk and chew gum.

Wait until she Googles her husband and finds out that her entire life has been lie.

P.S. For those who are curious here is a real life demonstration of what it is like to wear these things.

Just in case you missed it here is MSNBC's Luke Russert trying to get a coherent interview out of Ted "Poopy-pants" Nugent after the SOTU speech last night.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Courtesy of MSNBC:

When asked what it was like sitting in the chamber alongside victims of gun violence, Nugent launched into a confusing rant about “engineered recidivism” and the mental health system.

“Our mental health system has failed so thoroughly that people who have threatened lives and conduct themselves in dangerous abhorrent behavior,” he said. “And have been alerted, the officials have been alerted by co-workers, fellow students, mothers and fathers of these mass murderers.”

He took on the president too, criticizing his “predicable, flowery, feel good, save the children, end world hunger insanity.”

“And then I see him either do nothing, or do the opposite,” he said. “I feel horrible that we’re going after my guns, instead of stopping crime and dangerous behavior.”

When challenged by NBC news reporter Luke Russert over comments he made last year, comparing Democrats like Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton to coyotes who deserve to be shot, Nugent became agitated, cursing at Russert and calling him a liar in vulgar terms.

And THIS is the sorry excuse for a human being that  Rep. Stockman believed was an appropriate choice to bring to the Sate of the Union address? I think that says about all we need to know about Steve Stockman.

By the way my admiration for Luke Russert just went through the roof. He did a great job of trying to get something reasonable out of this bullshit spewing ass clown.

Perfect spokesman for the NRA however. They should definitely keep him in the forefront.

Rachel Maddow ambushed on Meet the Press this morning. Update!

Most of the time when I watch MTP I am simply bored, as the show has really gone downhill since Tim Russert passed away in my opinion.  But today I was not bored, I was PISSED!

The topic was the Republican War on Women, and David Gregory asked Rachel to provide the framework.

This is what happened next.

Now Rachel Maddow is a VERY intelligent women who, has a great deal of respect for facts.  She might be willing to debate what the facts mean, or how they came to be, but when somebody simply refuses to acknowledge their existence, she is literally stunned.

And that is what happened this morning. That Alex Castellanos asshole was clearly prepared ahead of time to jump on Rachel the minute that Gregory asked her a question, and interrupted her repeatedly because SHE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!

And Gregory, who is a pathetic excuse for a moderator, did NOTHING to shut Castellanos down and allow Rachel the opportunity to finish her point.

I swear that this appeared to be preplanned to me, and most likely signifies the going forward approach by Republicans to dealing with intelligent opponents, which is to disagree with reality and talk over them until they give up.

Now Rachel, to her credit, did NOT give up, and did manage to make her point.  But as I was watching this I was literally yelling at David Gregory to man up and take back control of his show.

I swear that if Tim Russert was there he would have handed Castellanos his ass!

As a matter of fact I would like to see Gregory fired and have him replaced with Tim's son Luke Russert, who I think is a MUCH better interviewer, and does NOT allow people to steamroll over him despite his youth.

In other words, fuck Gregory, he is a disgrace the memory of Tim Russert and to the memory of what MTP once represented to the journalistic community!

By the way there was much more, and Hilary Rosen got in some good comments as well, which you can see by clicking here.

Update: My daughter watched the video of Castellanos talking over Rachel, and refusing to allow her finish her point, and said that it is kind of interesting to her that this guy is arguing that there is NO war on women while actively bullying a woman.

I thought that was a very astute observation.
