Canada has a message for all of those Right Wingers who think they are heading north once President Obama wins reelection.

You know Canada if you were REALLY our friend you would take them off of our hands.

I'm just saying.

The Baggers, the majority living out west, will hopefully go back as they are stirring up too much BS that has not been a problem for decades.

      I think that's a fair exchange!!

    6. I moved to Canada when Reagan was elected. Love it here! I also still vote by absentee ballot and through Democrats Abroad, and I help get out the vote for the many Americans who live here. We have become a significant force in federal elections as Democrats Abroad is a worldwide organization. (BTW, there is no such organization as Republicans Abroad. They apparently have no use for Americans living abroad.)

It would be great if there was a place we could banish the right wingers to, never to heard from again. A nice warm place, extremely warm, a hell of their own making.

Newsflash: Gryphen causes huge multi-car & truck pileup on Ambassador Bridge spanning Detroit River, as American drivers are attempting to make u-turns to head back to the U.S. before entering Windsor, Ontario.

Damn you Gryphen for leaking this info prematurely to the Repugs! The plan was to let them cross over into Canada, and THEN blow the bridge. Maybe once they've been deprogrammed from "teh stupid" due to living without their daily Fox News fix for a while, we can take em back. Maybe.

  18. It was my thought that the Canadian border guards would not let the right wingnuts pass through customs unless they promised to keep right on going up the AlCan Highway to Alaska.

They ought to be welcome up there joining the redneck Texas oil roustabouts and the Idaho/Montana/Wyoming survivalist/militia types, but I sure feel sorry for the native Alaskans and the few remaining progressives.

  19. My husband and I moved to the UK in 2006 after throwing in the towel on Alaska and the United States. Wanted to move to Canada but it has a strict upper-age limit for immigration. As my hubby is dual national Irish and American, we moved to the UK where our same-sex marriage (thank you, Canada!) is recognised. I am becoming a citizen here this year.

We have bought a home and have careers here but it took some time and effort. All things considered, emigration works both ways. I'm American by birth and European by choice.

So stop talking about it. Do it. Leave the US for those war-loving, no safety-net, god-fearing folks who believe it's the greatest country on the Earth.

It isn't. Sorry. It really isn't.

  20. Australia would welcome liberal refugees in the event of a Romney upset :). We're friendly and hardly ever bite. Do mind the drop bears though. We'll always offer helpful advice like that on local wildlife and how to survive. Universal health care but unlike Canada we have a private option too if we wish. Compulsory voting which is actually very clever and forces the political candidates to represent ALL, not just the voters.

    ReplyDelete
  21. College tuition in Ontario is about 8,000. And OUR healthcare in the Province is Universal! We have our own doctors just like my family in the US has but when I go in for a treatment or preventative check-up I simply show my healthcard and don't have to worry about a bill or an insurance payment (or rejection). And I can not be turned down even if I do have a pre-existing condition.

Most people I talk to can not believe how extreme the GOP has become and would loath the idea of any of them moving up north.

OT --I am in Texas. The National media/cable, etc are gushing Today over Palin's involvement in the TX primary. But, in TX, I'm not hearing much gushing about Palin. Instead, I'm hearing grumbling about outside groups and money being in our business. They have mentioned Palin--but in a list of outsiders involved in our politics.

Spending by candidates for elections is strictly controlled: no outside money allowed and limits are enforced- one of the nicest things about Canada. We look at the obscene amount of money wasted in US elections that would be better spent on child poverty, infastructure and education-among other things! No voter suppression either!

And truthfully, the length of the US election of what appears to be heading towards 2 years because of primaries and campaigning ramping up to them, is in the opinion of many Canadians -- ridiculous.

The election for Prime Minister of Canada is 8 weeks.

Speaking as a Canadian: FUCKIN' A!!!

You know, I have long been of the opinion that many Republican (and some Democrat) voters who threaten to move here for political reasons are also the same individuals who have shit all over Canada in the past. Seems to me it's time to build that fence, eh xenophobic right-wingers?
