Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Canada has a message for all of those Right Wingers who think they are heading north once President Obama wins reelection.
You know Canada if you were REALLY our friend you would take them off of our hands.
On the off chance that Obama *doesn't* get re-elected, my plans are to go to Canada. Not sure if any of us are welcome, since we manage to f-up our own country so well.
I moved to Canada when Reagan was elected. Love it here! I also still vote by absentee ballot and through Democrats Abroad, and I help get out the vote for the many Americans who live here. We have become a significant force in federal elections as Democrats Abroad is a worldwide organization. (BTW, there is no such organization as Republicans Abroad. They apparently have no use for Americans living abroad.)
Eh, Cananda, If Obama, oops, I mean WHEN he wins, you better SEAL YOUR BORDERS, to keep the riff raff of Rububs out, give them a taste of how it feels.
It would be great if there was a place we could banish the right wingers to, never to heard from again. A nice warm place, extremely warm, a hell of their own making.
And, they could take the idiot from Wasilla (her pimp husband, Todd and daughter in waiting - Bristol - w/her!) She could wrinkle up like their governor!
I have Canadian friends and some in Europe and ALL of them think we have an outstanding President. They also think the Republicans to be a fucking mess (the majority of them!) as do I.
Newsflash: Gryphen causes huge multi-car & truck pileup on Ambassador Bridge spanning Detroit River, as American drivers are attempting to make u-turns to head back to the U.S. before entering Windsor, Ontario.
Damn you Gryphen for leaking this info prematurely to the Repugs! The plan was to let them cross over into Canada, and THEN blow the bridge. Maybe once they've been deprogrammed from "teh stupid" due to living without their daily Fox News fix for a while, we can take em back. Maybe.
It was my thought that the Canadian border guards would not let the right wingnuts pass through customs unless they promised to keep right on going up the AlCan Highway to Alaska.
They ought to be welcome up there joining the redneck Texas oil roustabouts and the Idaho/Montana/Wyoming survivalist/militia types, but I sure feel sorry for the native Alaskans and the few remaining progressives.
My husband and I moved to the UK in 2006 after throwing in the towel on Alaska and the United States. Wanted to move to Canada but it has a strict upper-age limit for immigration. As my hubby is dual national Irish and American, we moved to the UK where our same-sex marriage (thank you, Canada!) is recognised. I am becoming a citizen here this year.
We have bought a home and have careers here but it took some time and effort. All things considered, emigration works both ways. I'm American by birth and European by choice.
So stop talking about it. Do it. Leave the US for those war-loving, no safety-net, god-fearing folks who believe it's the greatest country on the Earth.
Australia would welcome liberal refugees in the event of a Romney upset :). We're friendly and hardly ever bite. Do mind the drop bears though. We'll always offer helpful advice like that on local wildlife and how to survive. Universal health care but unlike Canada we have a private option too if we wish. Compulsory voting which is actually very clever and forces the political candidates to represent ALL, not just the voters.
College tuition in Ontario is about 8,000. And OUR healthcare in the Province is Universal! We have our own doctors just like my family in the US has but when I go in for a treatment or preventative check-up I simply show my healthcard and don't have to worry about a bill or an insurance payment (or rejection). And I can not be turned down even if I do have a pre-existing condition.
Most people I talk to can not believe how extreme the GOP has become and would loath the idea of any of them moving up north.
As well hate speech is not allowed and elections take 6 weeks start to finish-negative personal ads not common either. We would rather have Obama than any of those right wingers that make me afraid for the safety of the world.
OT --I am in Texas. The National media/cable, etc are gushing Today over Palin's involvement in the TX primary. But, in TX, I'm not hearing much gushing about Palin. Instead, I'm hearing grumbling about outside groups and money being in our business. They have mentioned Palin--but in a list of outsiders involved in our politics.
I'm in Texas too. Local media hasn't mentioned her. NPR quoted Cruz as crediting Palin and the Tea Party. I voted for Leppart, thinking he'd be the most palatable. I doubt a Dem will win that seat.
Spending by candidates for elections is strictly controlled: no outside money allowed and limits are enforced- one of the nicest things about Canada. We look at the obscene amount of money wasted in US elections that would be better spent on child poverty, infastructure and education-among other things! No voter suppression either!
And truthfully, the length of the US election of what appears to be heading towards 2 years because of primaries and campaigning ramping up to them, is in the opinion of many Canadians -- ridiculous.
The election for Prime Minister of Canada is 8 weeks.
I feel the same way, what that money would do to help people. All that money wasted on elections, it sickens me, it's INSANE. I'm disgusted by my own country.
Thank you, Canadians, for being rational neighbors, friends, and allies. I loved visiting your country, and if the crazies succeed in taking over the United States, I would be delighted to have the opportunity to live among you.
Thank you, Deni, for noting that Somalia is the perfect place for all those small government folks.
You know, I have long been of the opinion that many Republican (and some Democrat) voters who threaten to move here for political reasons are also the same individuals who have shit all over Canada in the past. Seems to me it's time to build that fence, eh xenophobic right-wingers?
But to those with more genuine intentions, please come on over, get a physical, have a GOOD beer, and increase your life expectancy by three years! ;-)
When Obama wins and the Rethugs attempt to enter -- hate to let the secret out early, bu......
We've installed a large zipper -- from the East Coast to the West. Said zipper will be released and therefore no baggers can enter as Canada will have separated from the U.S.!!!
my husband is 1/2 canadian I tell him I would like to move to canada, I'm an american liberal. The USA right wingers are a pretty scary bunch. Oh, and I live in Wasilla.
Canada ROCKS! My neighbor's husband was there on business on 9/11 when all air travel was diverted. The people of Canada opened their homes, shared their food and hospitality, that impressed them so much, they moved to Quebec then on to Montreal. It's nice to have options, but I doubt the GOP will win. Have you seen Romney? lol

ReplyDeleteAll you liberals are welcome here with open arms. You can keep the republicans. They are persona non grata
ReplyDeleteThank you! (((Big Hug to Canada)))
DeleteAnd cannabis is not criminal in Canada!
DeleteAnd when the poles shift, Canada will be tropical to boot!
Thank you, Canada, for being there for us :)
Sounds perfect...we are visiting this summer, and very much looking forward to it.
DeleteThe Baggers, the majority living out west, will hopefully go back as they are stirring up too much BS that has not been a problem for decades.
DeleteI think that's a fair exchange!!
Thank you Canada... much appreciated!

DeleteWay to go Crystal Sage! Should I move back home, I will get in touch and work for the Democrats :)

DeleteLove it.

IMHO, the perfect place for all right wingers to go is the state of Arizona.
DeleteMy sentiments exactly!
DeleteAnd, they could take the idiot from Wasilla (her pimp husband, Todd and daughter in waiting - Bristol - w/her!)
DeleteShe could wrinkle up like their governor!
Can we build a big fence around it too?
DeleteThat is the best idea yet!!
Delete@Anon 12:34
DeleteGreat idea! Once we have them all rounded up, put up a fence and don't forget the electricity at the top.
Waitta minute, I was going to Canada if Obama ISN"T re-elected!!
ReplyDeletePoor Canada; fecked if he does, and fecked if he doesn't.
BEST POST ON THE INTERNET TODAY
ReplyDeletehuge smile on my face
Sounds like the place to go if Romney is elected! I'll fit right in. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen President Obama IS re-elected, all the baggers can go to Somalia. That should be bagger Heaven. No government. They can take Grover with them.
Émigrés need also prove their value ot the Nation and Land no EIB golden microphones providing millions of hours of sitting on one's fat cyst covered ass talking.
ReplyDeleteSo, Canada won't let them leech!
I love Canada!
ReplyDeletethe fuk_tards ought'a move to afghanistan to be one with their taliban brethren
ReplyDeleteI have Canadian friends and some in Europe and ALL of them think we have an outstanding President. They also think the Republicans to be a fucking mess (the majority of them!) as do I.

There are 109 comments so far, with about 70 of them not going off on tangents. Nearly 40 of those 70 are definite NO answers.
DeleteThat's a pretty brutal FAIL for Sarah Palin's BFF Greta trying to promote Bristol Palin.
Bristol, you're about to be humiliated far more than what your mother did to you in September 2008.
And how does college tuition compare between Canada and the USA?
ReplyDeletehttp://news.nationalpost.com/2012/05/18/how-quebecs-tuition-price-tags-match-up-to-the-rest-of-canada-graphic/
DeleteMuch cheaper.
DeleteFunny,my husband has a continual disscussion with a RW co-worker...and his question was; where will you go when BHO wins? Uganda?? Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they cvould spend some time in Canada learning how government is supposed to work: FOR the people, not against them.
ReplyDeleteNice idea, but I get the impression that the GOP thinks they know everything already.
DeleteI've loved Canada every time I've visited. Thank you Canadians!

It isn't. Sorry. It really isn't.
I wish I were brave enough. I honor and commend you for doing so. RESPECT!

I like it but Canada has nowhere near 45% Atheists.

What would life be like under a President Romney? Take a look at what life what like for employees after a Bain Capital investment:
ReplyDeletehttp://thehill.com/opinion/columnists/mark-mellman/230021-bain-is-fair-game-for-obama

ReplyDeleteAnd where Banks are regulated!!
ReplyDeleteThat will keep the Baggers out!! Can't be regulatin' the 'free market'!!
And the cream of the crop to keep the baggers out:
Majority of guns are illegal. There is no 'conceal and carry'. In fact, there's really no 'carry'!!!!
Which is one element that makes Trailer Park Boys SO much fun :)

The U.S. has enough decent, rational, compassionate people to survive whatever trials it may face. It may take time; but believe it can be done.
