Donald Trump loses it on CNN, and makes Mitt Romey oh so proud to have him in his corner. Update: Romney releases birth certificate. With a surprise ending!

This courtesy of Buzzfeed:

"His mother was not in the hospital,” Trump said of President Barack Obama.

Trump repeated that he believes Obama was born in Kenya, prompting Blitzer to interject: "Donald, Donald, you’re beginning to sound a little ridiculous."

"No, I think you are Wolf! Let me tell you something, I think you sound ridiculous." Trump responded.

Trump attacked CNN reporter Jim Acosta's segment before he appeared on the show, saying Acosta was parroting Obama campaign talking points, and took several shots at the cable network's ratings woes.

Trump added that he believes the Obama campaign attacks on him are “reverse psychology," designed to keep people from truly investigating the issue.

The President is using "reverse psychology?' By doing what? Allowing this idiot to spew this nonsense and then using him as a punchline at the White House Correspondents Dinner?

If you listen to Trump's reason for refusing to drop this issue all he can keep  saying is that  "there are many, many people who do not believe the birth certificate is authentic." What I think Blitzer should have followed up with is, "Are any of these people sane?"

Somewhere Mitt Romney is lying in a hotel room with a pillow wrapped around his head screaming. "What was I thinking? Is it too late to cancel the fundraiser in Vegas?"

Update: I almost forgot to refute Trump's claim that Obama provided a biography that identified he was born in Kenya to a publisher.  You can find that here.

Update 2: For those who are claiming that Mitt Romney is staying above the fray in this whole birther debate, perhaps you could explain why Mitt Romney just released this.

However I am not sure this was a smart move on Romney's part as it sort of brings up a rather controversial family fact of its own:

Yes, Republican Mitt Romney appears eligible to be president, according to a copy of Romney's birth certificate released to Reuters by his campaign. Willard Mitt Romney, the certificate says, was born in Detroit on March 12, 1947.

His mother, Lenore, was born in Utah and his father, former Michigan governor and one-time Republican presidential candidate George Romney, was born in Mexico.

So on a day when real estate and media mogul Donald Trump was trying to help Mitt Romney by stirring up a new round of questions about whether Democratic President Barack Obama was born in the United States, Romney's own birth record became a reminder that in the 1968 presidential campaign, his father had faced his own "birther" controversy.

So let's get this straight. While Romney is climbing into bed with the man who falsely claims that President Obama is not legitimate because he was not born in this country, he releases a birth certificate which shows that his father, who once ran for President himself, actually WAS born in another country?

Can everybody say "Awkward?"

What these idiot birthers fail to understand is that the candidate is not the one required to prove his/her birth location! That would lead to definite fraud. It is the STATE of the birth which is required to certify the birth. By refusing to accept that Obama was born in the State of Hawaii, they are calling the STATE a liar.

Donald is NOT creating doubt in the minds of any moderates or Independent voters who might normally consider Mitt as a viable alternative to our president, given the slow recovery of our economy.

Instead, Don is "chumping" Mitt, and Mitt is obviously afraid to challenge him on it, just as he was skittish of calling out Rush for his nonsense.

They are trying to say that since she was not yet 18, it doesn't count....and they completely ignore the Constitution, which has virtually no guidance on this subject, let alone the parameters they claim. Not that it matters. The man got a passport 30 years ago when he travelled abroad...you don't get that without documentation.

Olivia, you have stated a common misunderstanding. A person born to American parents abroad is in some (but not all) circumstances a "naturalized" citizen, by virtue of an Act of Congress. A person born within the US, its territories and "outlying possessions" (including, presumably, the Panama Canal Zone when John McCain was born there) are "natural born" citizens, inherently and not by an Act of Congress. Only natural born citizens, such as President Obama, can be president.

    3. Anonymous4:30 PM

I have been saying this for a long time now, about Obama's mother being an American. Obama is just as American as John McCain. Good point about the passport as well. If you google the rules for citizenship, it is clear as day.

This is all to distract from Romney's record. Bain was being brought up and starting to hurt him, so they found this morally bankrupt and occasionally financially bankrupt moron to come out and throw some poop.

The media has jumped on this full speed ahead. The only time you can get coverage these days is to say something stupid and outrageous.

This will backfire and I'll laugh my ass off when it does.

To run for President you have to be born in the US, not just a citizen. And John McCain was born in Panama, but at the time it was a US territory.

"To run for President you have to be born in the US, not just a citizen. And John McCain was born in Panama, but at the time it was a US territory."

      Wrong, wrong, wrong.

To be president, you have to be a natural born citizen. This is not defined in the Constitution, but is generally accepted to mean born a citizen instead of becoming one through a citizenship program (a naturalized citizen). Panama was never a US territory. McCain's parents were both US citizens, so he is a natural born citizen. Where he was born is irrelevant.

I am sorry , but you are incorrect. The law was changed specifically to suit John McCain a few yrs ago, so that rule was thrown out the window.

      Delete
    7. Anonymous11:19 PM

Panama was never a US territory. The Panama canal Zone was U.S. territory, but Mccain was born in a hospital outside the canal zone. No law was "changed" as the law (Constitution) doesn't address the definition of "natural born" - does it mean parents (one or both) U.S. citizens or does it mean born on U.S. soil. Presidnet Obama was both born on U.S. soil and born to a U.S. citizen. At no point has it ever been that one must be born on U.S. soil and have two citizen parents. Imagine the disenfranchise citizens that would cause worldwide!!!

      Delete
  11. Anonymous2:52 PM

Let's be clear about a couple of details:
    1. Barack Obama was born to an American citizen. That makes him an American citizen.
    2. At the time that Barack Obama was born, there was no independent country of Kenya. It was a British colony. Orly Taitz made that mistake when she made up a birth certificate using the seal of a country that did not exist when Obama was born.
    3. If there had been a problem with his birth certificate, he would not have been sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Judging from the way that Roberts bungled the swearing in, he would have done anything to have avoided that job. He couldn't, not even when he spit it out all wrong. (They had to do a "do over.")
    4. Trump has never shown any proof at all. What he says is that he is smart (that's not a given), and it doesn't look right to him. Trump is not a documents expert, and he has provided no proof other than his own bluster.
    5. The good news is that the more that Romney is BFF with Trump, the worse he looks.

Trump is not a man who can accept being made the butt of a joke like the one PBO dinged him with at last year's WH Correspondence Dinner. I saw the video and even his wife was laughing at him. It had to hurt, so PBO became Trump's #1 Target from that point going forward. Romney doesn't care what he has to do as long as it gets him into the WH. This doesn't speak well for his character or his reasons for wanting to be POTUS. IMHO, Romney and his wife came off looking like jerks when they uttered "It's our turn" in a recent interview. I got the impression that Romney thinks he deserves to be president because he is who he is, not because he really wants to do things that helps the country and its citizen. Keep talking birtherism, Trump because it's good for the Obama campaign. It seems as if some on the right didn't learn anything from 2008. Palin unleashed the crazy and McCain had to return to the Senate, yet, the GOP is running the same game plan in 2012 that it ran in 2008.

It continues to weird me out that the right wing insists on clinging to memes that only a right winger would care about. Apparently their strategy is to preach to the choir? Maybe someone should explain to them that inbreeding generally tends to foster weakness and defects...

    I mean:
Obama = maybe wasn't born here
Romney = Made himself rich at the expense of American jobs

Obama = went to a church where the preacher sometimes said not nice things about white people
Romney = believes that black people were marked by God as evil and inferior and that when he dies, he'll get his own planet to rule over, populated entirely with women to subjugate

Obama = made huge efforts to improve the healthcare system
Romney = did the same thing, but now desperately wants to pretend he didn't.

Obama = rescued the American auto industry
Romney = condemned the idea at the time, but takes credit for it now?!?

I think anyone who says "anyone but Obama" is offering proof that their IQ is too low to allow them to vote. I think we could do better than Obama, but we could also do much, much worse. Any single one of the republican candidates this season would fit that description. I get the feeling some republicans are edging Trump on to keep this issue up front, as they feel it replicates the "Trig Truthers" who demand Trig's birth certificate from Palin. It's like Trump and others are purposefully behaving unreasonably and demanding the President be investigated about his truthfulness of his birth origin, so they can whine about Democrats and liberals who question of Palin's honesty.

I try to picture him with Merkel, Putin or Hollande...but...it just doesn't work. There's something about the way Romney looks, that even if the photograph of him with other diplomats was real, Romney would still looked photoshopped into the picture.

Doctor who delivered President Obama was from Portland

HONOLULU (AP) — The family of a Honolulu doctor whose signature appears on President Barack Obama's birth certificate woke up to the news Wednesday that the late obstetrician had delivered Obama.

Relatives of Dr. David Sinclair told The Associated Press that they were "blown away" and "honored."

Dr. Sinclair was born in Portland in the 1920s and moved to Hawaii to go to college.

So-called "birthers" have questioned Obama's birthplace, espousing theories that he was not born in the U.S., possibly his father's native Kenya, and therefore ineligible to be president.

Obama released a short form copy of his birth certificate in 2008. Recently, potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump began questioning why he hadn't ensured that the original certificate was released.

On Wednesday, the White House released a copy of the original birth certificate.

Below Obama's mother's signature was one which appeared to read: "David. A. Sinclair."

Sinclair had an obstetrics and gynecology practice in Honolulu and delivered babies all over Hawaii when Obama was born in 1961, said his son Karl Sinclair, 55, of Kailua. The doctor retired in the late 1990s and died in 2003 at 81.

"What a shocker," said Karl Sinclair, one of six children. "It's amazing. I'm blown away by it, quite honestly."

They found out because one of their relatives was awake at 3 a.m. watching the news and saw the signature, said Dawn Yoshimura-Sinclair, who is married to another Sinclair son, Dr. Brian Sinclair, a neuroradiologist.

"We can attest to the fact that it is indeed dad's signature," Yoshimura-Sinclair said. "It's not a common name over here. There's no confusion that it was dad."

Relatives said while they previously never made the connection, looking back it makes sense because there were few obstetricians in Honolulu at the time.

"He never turned anyone away," said Karl Sinclair's wife, Julie Sinclair. "Whether they could pay or not."

Born in Portland, the doctor joined the military after the Pearl Harbor bombing, relatives said. He went to the University of Hawaii after the war.

He then went to medical school at the University of California at San Francisco, where he completed his residency.

Sinclair returned to Honolulu with his wife and children in 1960. He delivered babies mostly at what is now known as Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, where Obama was born.

On Wednesday, the White House released a copy of the original birth certificate.

Below Obama's mother's signature was one which appeared to read: "David. A. Sinclair."

"It's my husband's signature," said his widow, Ivalee Sinclair, 82, from her downtown Honolulu office. She held up a copy of the birth certificate she printed from the Internet and pointed to the signature, recognizing his familiar left-handed cursive.

"We can attest to the fact that it is indeed dad's signature," Yoshimura-Sinclair said. "It's not a common name over here. There's no confusion that it was dad."

Ivalee Sinclair said her husband never discussed his patients and that delivering a black child born to a white mother wouldn't be a detail he would focus on.

"He never would have brought anything like that up," she said. "He delivered a lot of children. I have no idea how many."

Relatives said while they previously never made the connection, looking back it makes sense because there were few obstetricians in Honolulu at the time.

"He never turned anyone away," said Karl Sinclair's wife, Julie Sinclair. "Whether they could pay or not."

    ...

TMZ spoke to Ivalee Sinclair -- the wife of Dr. David A. Sinclair -- who told us she was SHOCKED to see her husband's signature on Obama's birth certificate ... and now, even though Dr. Sinclair passed away in 2003, the entire family is CELEBRATING.

Ivalee tells us, "Life is full of surprises! We are huge Obama supporters and our whole family has been calling one another all morning."

She continues, "I know my husband is just looking down on us smiling. We had no idea that he delivered President Obama until this morning when we saw the birth certificate ... It is very exciting. I just can't believe it. We had no way of knowing. Everyone is calling us and I'm looking forward to calling all of the family back and informing them that it is true."

We also broke the news to Dr. Sinclair's son, Karl, who was blown away as you'll hear in the audio.

Gee, Donald, look closely - both President Obama's certificate and Mitt Romney's certificate are the same kind of legal document: certifications of live birth.

The only difference in the wording is that Romney's says "Certificate of Live Birth," and President Obama's says "Certification of Live Birth." How birthers can denounce one as not being a "real" birth certificate and embrace the other is insane.

There should be some sort of IQ threshold for voting - if you are so damn stupid that you think there is a difference between the purpose and legality of these two certificates, you cannot vote because you shouldn't be trusted to walk outside unattended or go to the bathroom by yourself. You might not be able to distinguish between the sink, the toilet, or the bathtub. If you can't do that, you must be a birther.

Barry Goldwater was going to challenge George Romney about Romney's eligibility to be POTUS but before Goldwater filed a lawsuit, Romney dropped out of the GOP primaries. (I don't know if that was the reason he dropped out - he wasn't doing well in the primaries).

What is interesting to me is that the Romney family fled the US to avoid obeying the law about polygamy. Mitt's great-grandfather and one wife hid in a wagon, on his way to Mexico. Left two of his wives and twelve children in the US - it took them 3 years to make their way to Mexico. I can't help but wonder if polygamy was legal in Mexico at that time? A Catholic country approving of polygamy? That great-grandpappy was a drunkard. Then, Mitt's granddaddy and family ran back to the US in 1912 to avoid the Mexican Revolution. Mitt carries on the family tradition by "fleeing" the US tax laws by stashing his money in several countries. Romney's don't have to obey the laws or rules - they'll find a way to run and hide if a law is passed that they they don't like.

Mitt has no character, no moral core. He'll use anything and anybody to get what he wants but not to do good for our country but because he's entitled! He's a Romney! He was born to reign over everybody! He is the "perfect" GOP candidate who will lie, cheat and steal while they wear their religion on their sleeves.

I don't think that Mitt Romney has any sense of what being part of a country is. For him, Mormonism is church and country: he equates his missionary service to military service and his financial contributions to his church to paying federal taxes. He simply does not understand the differences between state and church - a pretty fundamental flaw in someone who wants to be president.

So Romney just released his birth certificate. His own father- who ran for President- was born in Mexico!!! Oops. So, Donald, you can be born in Mexico and be a Republican and run for President if you are white, but you can't be born in Kenya and be a Democrat and be black and run for President? And that's not racist, of course.

And perhaps Mitt can explain why his own father ran illegally for President? And, why exactly why George Romney was born in Mexico? I'm sure it wasn't that his polygamist family had fled across the border, was it, Mitt?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Jr., son of a President and First Lady of the World was born on Campobello Island off the coast of New Brunswick Canada in 1914 while the family was at their summer home. It did not disqualify him 35 years later when he ran for Congress.

John McCain was born in Panama in 1936 while his father was stationed there. He was still eligible to run for President in 2000 and 2008.

I think we should name them the "Bankruptcy Brothers". It's like looking in the mirror...they just use the laws in different ways. Bain bought healthy companies and then cut jobs or sent them overseas, got rid of benefits, didnt fund pensions, etc....then thru mergers and overblown fees for doing this wonderful business, they sucked every cent they could until the company was bankrupt. Trump on the other hand, started companies with investors and ran up ridiculous debts....then went bankrupt after sucking every cent for himself...actually 26 bankrupted companies. When you see the name Trump...he doesn't own whatever, he gets paid to use his name. His money came from his father, which he lost...several times over, then when he owed too much money to go bankrupt, the banks gave him more cuz they couldnt take the loss. These 2 men are experts all right...on bankruptcy laws, screwing whoever stands still long enough.
