Let's end the day on a high note. Michelle Obama wins the hearts of the ladies of the View.

I am sorry that today was so video-centric here at IM, but there just seemed to be a lot of important video to share.

As you know I am NOT a regular watcher of The View, but I did catch the entire episode this morning and really thought that Michelle Obama was the very epitome of charm and class. I don't like to make comparisons, but I kind of felt she did a better job than the President did during HIS visit two weeks ago.

BTW I joked earlier today that by the end of the show FLOTUS and Elizabeth Hasselbeck were hugging and joking with each other like two high school girlfriends. I would not put it past the First Lady to have made such an impact on the View's token conservative that Hasselbeck might be questioning her political point of view and wondering HOW she can justify being in opposition to this delightful couple.

    FLOTUS is a charming lady.

Her ability to drop to the floor and do 50 push-ups blew me... much respect to Mrs. Obama.

I don't mind a gal who "isn't afraid to work up a sweat" as long as she doesn't complain if I sweat 5X as much trying to keep as fit and strong as she is.

True charm combined with dignity and a sense of purpose is very sexy. Strong triceps, too, IMHO.

  3. I don’t see ONE THING wrong with Michelle… she’s nothing short of wonderful; as is Hillary; as is Elizabeth Warren. These women aren’t Nikki (Nimrata?) Haley. Let’s get them into office and start the cleanup.

At this point in the conversation no one has said anything negative about Mrs. Obama until YOU brought it up.

      What gives?

This reminds me of a man I spent some time with. His abuse began with "so what is wrong with your boobs." And went on from there. Since I did not have a problem with my boobs, the obvious question was HUH? What are you talking about? The point was to plant the seeds of doubt; to create questions; to undermine the self-esteem...according to the professionals a classic form of phsycologial abuse.

The person who posted this comment is egually abusive by introducing the "idea" that someeone was trash talking FLOTUS when no one had said anything negative until they brought it up.

Just say'n, but it has been my observation that this contributer tends to post this kind of abusive comments....

  6. My daughter sent a note to President Obama a few years ago regarding his smoking - asking him to please quit because she cared about him. :) She got a very nice letter back (yeah, maybe just a form letter, but for her, with her name on it and her issue mentioned, she felt validated) WELL...then she sent a letter to the first lady this year. She did over 1500 situps in her school's "presidential challenge" and wanted Mrs. Obama to know that she was still working hard to be strong and healthy. Mrs. Obama sent a beautiful letter back to her that seemed to be very NOT a form letter. She is tickled.I am very, very impressed. :)

LOVE our FLOTUS so much. She always conducts herself with such grace and dignity, a shining star, just like her husband.

And then there's the falling star whose Texas pick is hitting the skids. So much for the skank's endorsement. Didn't make a lick of difference.

Michelle Obama is the epitome of class. Intelligent, engaging, educated and beautiful (she knocked my socks off at the White House Correspondent's Dinner!!).

Our first family makes me proud. This is the first time in my life that I can say that, although I always thought Hilary Clinton was classy.

    4 more years, my friends!!

I loved how Elizabeth and the FLOTUS had their arms around each other at the end. Yes, maybe our wonderful First Lady has made a convert out of Elizabeth. Elizabeth looked like she was thoroughly enjoying herself!

Thanks Gryphen, I wouldn't have seen this otherwise. And even though I stayed up past my bedtime to watch it, it was worth it. (Despite the fact that normally I can't stand The View because they're always talking over each other and the guest and it drives me insane, this time they were very courteous.)

Barbra WaWa tried her best to pull Michelle into the 'racist' issue.

Don't forget -- Michelle is on The Daily Show tonight too.

Michelle's words and body language on The View totally confirmed her claim of having 'thick skin'. She didn't show any anger, intolerance, desire for revenge...not even frustration...not even a hint of negativity toward the ugly racist and other attacks against her family.

I wish her and Pres. Obama's positive focus could rub off on all of us.

THank-you for sharing this ! I work during the day so do not get to watch programs like this, but I do so respect and admire Mrs. Obama as a woman, as a person, as a mother and for all of her work as an advocate for excerise and healthy eating. :)

gryphen I don't watch the view but I love me some first lady michelle so I watched this... good clip, thanks for posting. as an organic gardener I was THRILLED when michelle first started the white house garden and I am doubly thrilled that she is continuing this important food campaign. gardening and growing plants in general is an important thing for people to learn - imo I think michelle has taken on the perfect (and my favorite!) issue for these times. woot go girl!

Oh yes, Ms. Elizabeth was being very chummy. I am very sensitive to other people's energy and I always wonder how people (other that the batshit crazies) feel when they are a around these far-right politicians or the tea party types. I feel this fog or disruptive hum when I'm around someone who is being incongruent- it sort of short circuits my mind and all I can think about is getting away. I think Mitt would make me edgy and Palin... well, I think I'd want to swat that fly. But the Obamas, I think, would be like a cool breeze (him) and a warm hug (her). I would like to hear Elizabeth contrast her time spent with Palin to her feelings about this interview. I just can't see her being all huggy with the ma griz.

Notice how Hasslebitch had her parents in the audience today. That was of course to introduce them to Michelle as they are Dems.

Won't be surprised to hear that she pandered for another visit to the White House so her parents can see it and meet the President. She does believe herself to be 'entitled'. I still remember her being a real bitch in her comments about Michelle in the 2008 campaign:

"View host Elisabeth Hasselbeck showed her support for Cindy McCain at the RNC by taking a swipe at Michelle Obama, suggesting that Obama is keeping some sort of devious secret.

"Cindy came into our hair and make-up room fresh as can be. And unlike another wife of a political candidate who shall remain nameless, she didn't come with a list of topics that we weren't allowed to touch. Nope. That's because she has nothing to hide."

      It sure got media attention.

If it was me and she asked for visit - I'd tell her to go suck eggs!!

I think Mrs Obama takes "forgiveness" and "turn the other cheek" deeply seriously. Not for the sake of others but for her own peace of mind.

I know she could see the "racist critics" question coming. Handled it perfectly.

Mrs. Romney said it's their turn now [in the White House]
Well Ann, if that is so, you have a hard act to follow.
Mrs. Obama has set the goal post very high.

I've been fascinated with the history of America's First Ladies for years -- from brilliant Abigail Adams to reclusive, epileptic Ida McKinley, to pseudo-royals like Elizabeth Monroe, Nancy Reagan and of course 60s super-model Jackie N. (for "No-Last-Name-Necessary").

(Jackie, by the way, was a smoker and also, to deal with the deluge of public requests, the inventor of the "P.B.O." or Polite Brush Off: "Give 'em to Lady Bird.")

Unelected and without any formal job description, each First Lady has been unique, but I think Mrs. Obama is unquestionably one of the most gracious, charming, intelligent and effective.

And none of her predecessors EVER had to deal with such vile, hateful racism !

I don't remember any other time in my life when America's problems have seemed so over-whelming and depressing but even though it sounds totally "drank-the-KoolAid" corny to say so, I feel like Mrs. Obama just EXUDES hope.

    Thanks for posting the vid.

The fact that Michelle did not take an advance to write the book and the proceeds of the sale of the book are all going to the Parks Foundation -- speaks volumes as there are so many others that wouldn't have taken their time to do this. They would have waited until after the White House to line their own pockets. There's no need for me to name names -- we already know!!

Not a regular viewer of "The View" either, but I was enthralled with our First Lady. She always carries herself with such grace and dignity. She inspires people to be their best, or at least try.

I kind of felt sorry she had Liz clinging all over her, she's said and intimated things about her while supporting Cindy and Sarah. Michelle's a class act.

Her behavior reminds me of the behavior of the Clinton's (not in a bad way).

I remember an interview with them talking about Chelsea & Chelsea having to hear bad things - some true, some not - about her dad & mom.

They said they sat down as a family & talked about the worst things that could be said & how to deal with them. She thought about those things & realized that they were still an awesome family & that those bad things didn't matter.

This grounded Cheslea & look at her now. She's a faboulous woman with a great degree, job, husband, and life.

Say what you will about the Clinton's, but they are FANTASTIC parents!!

I think the Obama's are wonderful parents just like the Clinton's. Their daughters are so lucky to have them & their grandmother looking out for them.

Thank you! Thank you!
