Trudeau certainly does not pull any punches here.
Here is Monday's strip, followed by Tuesday's and then today's.
"It's all part of growing up".....the privileged spoiled son of a successful business man that is.
I personally think that, while THIS on its own is not terribly devastating to Romney, the fact that it fits in with the idea that he is an uncaring, over privileged, asshole is something that will certainly continue to diminish him in the eyes of the American people.
And the fact that he claims to have NO memory of the incident, while vaguely remembering the boy victimized by it, clearly demonstrates that he is a liar.
(You can see more brilliant Doonesbury comics by clicking here.)
We know Willard is an animal abuser already so the story of him leading a gang attack on a defenseless kid because he was "different" doesn't surprise me one bit. It reminds me of Todd's gang's brutal attack on the 8th grade black student when Todd was a senior. They are both confirmed psychopaths.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Mitt does such an inadequate job of hiring PR people who should have advised him to acknowledge the incident and say that he regretted doing it. If he had done that, it would no longer be an issue. As it is, Seamus now has company whenever Mitt's many insensitive actions are discussed.
ReplyDeleteRomney's "I don't remember" is self serving bullshit. If he doesn't remember it's because he terrorized so many gay students that they sort of all blur together.
ReplyDeleteThat lying fucker DOES remember, it's that is too much of a weasely little shit to own up to his bigoted bullying.
We know that Trudeau doesn't draw the stip, but if all those ideas, throughout the decades, have been his, WOW! Flippin genius.
ReplyDeleteInternet Protection Act Would Eliminate Anonymous Online Comments In New York
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/22/anonymous-online-comments-internet-protection-act_n_1537673.html
Yeah, that'll pass, it's one of the most pressing issues in Republican circles in New York.
DeleteThat's the GOP, anything but the issues that matter, so a politician had someone post anonymous comments on the internet, what he posted was probably true.
Admitting poor memory is a disqualifier for POTUS in my voting booth.
ReplyDeleteNaw, he remembers. But he doesn't think it was wrong. He thinks its funny, just like he thought the whole dog-on-the-roof story was amusing & cute.
ReplyDeleteHe's a rich jerk. Period.
Oh, it was all good sport, right,, torture and humiliation, such fun, Jeeves, get the car, we're off to the pub to celebrate! No surprise from someone who sticks a dog on the roof of a car... so glad Massachusetts got rid of this jerk. Saw a funny quote last night from Ted Kennedy when he was running against Romney for Senate - Kennedy said "I'm pro choice, and my opponent is multiple choice"
ReplyDeleteLove that quote! It still applies to Romney.
DeleteIt amazes me that all the bad stuff that has come out (so FAR!) about Romney, seems to roll off his fans, as if they have all been hypnotized into forgiving him for anything that might come up.
ReplyDeleteI used to say that PALIN could dismember a live baby onstage, and her rabid fans would cry out that she was "taken out of context," or something.
There seems to be no end to the batshit crazy mindset of the rightwing radicals.
I saw today that the KKK is planning a big holiday event involving cross burnings...so just maybe the answer to this mystery is that, despite how most people think of Romney as a total jerk, at least he's not BLACK, so are supporting him.
Of course, when you bring that up to such people, they get REAL angry, and scream that they have no racist feelings. Right.
Of course it rolls off his fans. Face it, they like him because he's not black.
DeleteYou said it! That's all it is....
DeleteI've heard too many people saying Romney "looks Presidential."
Code for "not black."
Can he be any more of a wuss? I mean, he just looks like a wuss in those baggy jeans and his shirt sleeves rolled up. Had he not been the son of the almighty Governor of my state, I suspect Mitt might have been the target of some bullies himself. Bet he'd remember that.
ReplyDeleteWas is 'all part of growing up' for the young man who was assaulted?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure which is worse -
1. that Romney has so little compassion for other human beings that he could have forgotten such a cruel act against an innocent person who did nothing to harm him
OR
2. that he feels so comfortable lying about not remembering.
The Huffington Post used to have an entire page dedicated to Sarah Palin because she was that big and made that much news. (Shades of the National Enquirer. Shamelss). Now, their newest flavor of the week is Bristol, and for some reason that escapes me, Bristol's ghost written blog (Nancy French) is quoted on the politics page as if Bristol is a major political figure instead of a celebrity-wannabe. One of the Bristol/Nancy posts was the one about poor Bristol being bullied. Awww.
ReplyDeleteBristol does not know the difference between real intimidation by bullying-- and people writing critical and unkind comments on her blog. If she doesn't want the attention, she should not have a reality show and she should not publish a blog. Having a reality show and a blog invites criticism, wise cracks, unkind and favorable comments, the whole range. Bristol is not mature enough to know the difference between bullying and heckling.
I'll be happy to explain the difference. When Romney rounded up five other kids to beat up one kid (and cut his hair), that's bullying. Six on one is bullying. When Sarah, Todd and Bristol all ganged up on a teacher who was expressing her first amendment rights to call Sarah "worst governor ever,"that was bullying. Three on one, all shouting at one woman is bullying.
When Todd Palin sat at a table in the Governor's office, using a state phone, calling state employees and threatening to have them fired if they didn't fire his former brother-in-law, that's bullying. When a kid wrote on his Facebook that he didn't like Sarah Palin's reality show, he was called homophobic names by Bristol and Willow. Bristol could have acted like a lady and walked out of the bar after riding the mechanical bull. Instead, she chose to get into a shouting match with a heckler, using homophobic slurs in shouting at him. When Bristol and Willow do that, egging other people on, that's called bullying. When Bristol teaches Tripp to stick his tongue out at a photographer, Bristol is grooming the next generation of Palin Bullies. What a terrible role model of motherhood! And what a pity that Huffington Post uses Bristol in that cheap way to attract readers. While we are at it, shame on Lifetime in airing a reality series starring Bristol the Bully and her soon-to-be Bully Son. Ratings have become so important that HuffPo and Lifetime will sink such a low level. Maybe it is time for us to become the bullies, and give the bullies a taste of their own medicine. If enough people express their displeasure at HuffPo and Lifetime, maybe we can show Bristol how it feels to be bullied instead of doing the bullying.
You are goddamn right it was bullying. They use their hive mentality, their legion of thug followers and the power of office to go after people who aren't even close to the resources the unscrupulous Palin's have to go after enemies, real or perceived, to exact justice to those slights.
DeleteBoys will be boys, dontcha know?
ReplyDeleteImagine, Gary's just tellin it like it is. . .but conservatives don't like it when WE tell it like it is. It's the exclusive domain of the hateful Right.
ReplyDeleteThing is, we, as bleeding hard lefties, would forgive Mitt's growing pains mistakes - but only IF he showed contrition. But noooooo, this devastating event in one man's life doesn't even warrant a blip on his consciousness. Jesus F'ing Christ. What a pig.
I have been mystified at the mainstream news reports of how "close of a race" it is between Romney and Obama. Hmmmm.....who's NOT going to vote for Romney?
ReplyDeletePeople of color, women, the very poor, military and veterans, LGBT folk, Union workers such as those in the auto industry, teachers,....
Which leaves who exactly to vote for him? A bunch of angry old white men. Which aren't exactly in the voting majority are they?
Obama/Biden 2012!
Let's hope that everybody votes for a second term for President Obama and gives him the gift of a truly Democratic Congress - both Houses!
DeleteBeaglemom
There really is a reason Rmoney can't recall this incident.
ReplyDeleteHe has NO remorse over it.
What he did didn't even register on his shame radar.
He saw absolutely nothing wrong with what he did.
He did it and then forgot about it immediately.
Now he's laughing it off as a harmless prank, a boys will be boys little joke.
Like strapping his dog to the roof of the car for 8 hours, even after the dog shit itself in fear.
What a guy. He's Presidential material only in the eyes of those whose values are exactly the same. Mostly the rich, white guys of the Grand Obstructionist Party who want to rule this country like fascists; democracy for them, totalitarian rule for the other 99%.
The man can't be trusted. I remember the exact number of gay guys with bleached blonde hair that I gathered a crowd then led the charge with scissors in my hand.
ReplyDeleteZero
Look at his eyes when he speaks, listen to that shifty entitled laugh of his and ask yourself
Did Sarah have a gender reassignment surgery?
Same cold, dead eyes, darting back and forth, same off kilter tics and twitches.
Contrast that with the true adult, calm, steady, wise beyond his years, smart, empathetic, genuine, a true statesman and leader.
Obama Biden and a democratic house and senate.
(No offense to transgendered people intended).
