The government sector of the economy shrank during the first three years of the Obama administration, but the private sector grew more rapidly than it did during the first three years of either of George W. Bush’s terms in office. The charts show the growth in gross domestic product from the first quarter of the year in which each president was inaugurated through the first quarter of the subsequent election year. All figures are adjusted for inflation.
Okay so if reducing the size of government, and keeping government spending down, is really their overriding issue, WHY aren't the Teabaggers voting for Obama again?
And don't suggest that the Teabaggers are going to skip the two Bush administrations and compare Obama unfavorably to Ronald Reagan, because he wins there as well.
The last time the government actually got smaller over the first three years of a presidential term was when Richard M. Nixon was president. That decrease was largely because of declining spending on the Vietnam War.
Simply put, if you want better, smarter, and less government, you vote for the Democrat. I am sure that the Right Wing anti-government lunatics will soon recognize this and vote for President Obama in droves.
Unless of course they are all full of shit, and there is something else that motivates them? But that can't be, can it?
This is a fabulous ad! Send it to all your friends and family, please.

Your hearing must be different than mine because the sound I hear is base hypocrites lying repeatedly about how Obama caused the Republican Recession.
ReplyDeleteIf only President Obama listened to Paul Krugman we'd be out of the Republican Recession and on our way to lower unemployment and a mini-re-birth of the Middle Class.
Sadly, our "Socialist" President believes in the Piss Down Your Back and tell you It's Raining Austerity Fiscal Conservatism which caused our current economic crisis.
You may recall that the original stimulus proposals by the Obama administration were quite in line with what Krugman would have wanted. The reality was, well the Republican opposition and the media that touted it. So don't blame President Obama. He has done amazingly well given the bizarre circumstances of having a most disloyal opposition in Congress.
DeleteBeaglemom
Wow, Grung...you have no clue what is really happening, do you? Te GOP has tried to block every idea that would work, simply because they refuse to do ANYTHING to help the country as it might make the Democrats look responsible. Can't have that...so instead we get watered down progressive udeas, which are still working, just slower. And what, pray tell, has the GOP done to improve one damn thing in 20 years?
DeleteO/T. but McCain has advised Mittens to choose a VP he can trust. I guess Ann Romney will be running or VP.
DeleteRepeat it often enough and you'll believe it.
DeletePresident Obama isn't pissing down anyone's back. Look at what he's accomplished, against all odds and an obstinate GOP being led like circus elephants by the radical right wing.
Funny how HuffPo never posts good news like this on their site. They never post any of the good things President Obama does. It would be good if they did because of the large volume of traffic they get there. But they are so rightwing biasd over there.
ReplyDeleteHey Grung - JEALOUS that your repugs and tea party couldn't do the right thing? LOL to you and yours
ReplyDeleteAnd how about those gas prices? Going down. Don't hear a peep about that. Not good news for the Rethugs. Please everyone, don't let this fairly good news lull you into complacency. Must work hard right until the very end to convince people that they must vote for Obama/Biden and good Democratic representatives. Our future depends on it.
ReplyDeleteDon't you have to have something in your brain before it can explode? Anyway, from what I've seen, no teabagger would be caught dead reading an article that shows the good stuff our president has done.
ReplyDeleteWe're not deluded enough to think that "facts" would change their minds,
Deletebecause facts are not what they base their opinions on, anyway...
Two problems for the baggers. I leave it to you to figure out which one drives them crazier than the other.
ReplyDelete1) There's a democratic president in the White House. 2) There's a black president in THEIR White House.
1. This is idiotic propaganda
ReplyDelete2. Every liberal should read this before ignorantly judging others.
A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train's window shouted... "Dad, look the trees are going behind!" Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old's childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed... "Dad, look the clouds are running with us!" The couple couldn't resist and said to the old man... "Why don't you take your son to a good doctor?" The old man smiled and said... "I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today."
MORAL..........
Every single person on the planet has a story. Don't judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.
How are facts propogranda?
DeleteYou can't handle the truth can you.
This is at best a silly story that does not have anything whatsoever to do with the facts in this article.
DeleteWhat are you yammering about with your "don't judge people before knowing them" idiocy?
Especially since you judged "every" liberal without knowing them. You're an idiot.
Nice parable, there. But your "story" makes no sense. Did it occur to you that eye transplants aren't currently possible?

MORAL
It's better to keep your mouth shut when people think you're stuid than to open it and remove all doubt.
President Obama has done what few people in history could have done and that is to save our country from complete financial collapse. Our country is recovering, but it takes time. For those of us raised by depression era parents and have heard the stories, yes we know what could have happened and thank goodness it didn't. Too bad the Repuglicans fought any recovery efforts or we would be much farther along.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama has my complete confidence. What we need to do is to fight to take back the house so we can move FORWARD!!
Teabaggers have 99 problems.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama:
ReplyDeleteWas born in Hawaii to a mixed race family;
was raised by a single parent;
Saw and lived in a foreign culture for a few years;
Returned to Hawaii while his mother studied and completed a course in anthropology;
His family was so poor, they lived on food stamps.
He studied at 2 Universities.
Majored in constitutional law;
Was the top of his class on graduation;
Turned down million dollar job offers to work with the poor, disposed, dispossessed and disenfranchised, for a pittance;
Became a constitutional Professor;
State senator,
Senator,
Has a loving highly gifted wife and well adjusted children;
Has just paid off his first house;
Has a net worth of 5.6 million dollars;
Is the first president to pay for renovating the living quarters in the White House out of his own pocket and returned the amount allotted for this to every president, back to the treasury;
Has tried to govern from the middle, much to the chagrin of the left base;
Has adopted Republican ideas when he saw value in them only to have the Republicans obstruct even their own ideas;
He has an outstanding list of accomplishments and successes as President and is too humble to beat his own drum about them;
Has gone from poverty to President;
He doesn’t use religion as a wedge issue to divide the nation:
He turned the economy around from net job losses in the first quarter of 2008 to 25 months of job creation, through his foresight and in spite unparalleled obstruction by those avowed to destroy his presidency, even if it meant destroying the economy and shattering real people’s lives.
And Mitt, the guy who said corporations are people my friend and the 99% are wrong and dividing the nation.
The guy who can’t tell we are angry at the haughty and arrogant way that he made his money by bankrupting companies and throwing living breathing workers on the scrap pile mistakes the anger as we envy his wealth.
Thinks the POTUS is out of touch with real Americans.
And he doesn’t complain about conspiracy theories that don’t exist.
Face it Mitt’s a Sketch™ apart from losing when he ran for the senate, was set to lose if he ran again for governor, lost to the guy that lost to Obama, I don’t see a winner in you.
Obama is the consummate success story and he pulled himself up by his own boot straps.
Awesome.
DeleteThank you.

While many of the readers of IM have scorned and ridiculed me for saying Obama needs to keep his word on allowing states to decide on Medical Marijuana. I want to say that as Obama supporters you should see this weakness and make it known that he needs address his raids.
ReplyDelete"May 4, 2012 | President Barack Obama’s emphasis on raiding medical marijuana dispensaries drew a rebuke from none other than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) this week, who warned in a prepared statement that she has “strong concerns” about her political ally’s policy."
http://www.alternet.org/drugs/155285/why_nancy_pelosi_is_right_to_slam_obama%27s_war_on_pot/?page=entire
Please explain what is meant by "President Barack Obama's emphasis on raiding medical marijuana dispensaries." Does he endorse raiding medical marijuana Dispensaries? Are they legal? You said that Obama "needs to keep his word on allowing states to decide on Medical Marijuana." How does he keep that word? What should he do? Have any states legalized Medical Marijuana? What was Pelosi referring to exactly when she said she had "strong concerns" about her political ally's policy. What exactly is his policy?
DeleteYou see, I have no particular knowledge about this issue, so I need to hear your opinion, presented in a way that I can understand what you're trying to say.
If that is your only complaint about President Obama's administration when the law enforcement around the country is raiding illegal marijuana houses I would suggest you put down your crack pipe.
DeletePotheads for OBAMA!

Why do I crave junk food all of a sudden?

I think some reading to get you a little more up to speed on the situation is in order. I would much rather educate you to a point where you can form your own opinions rather just throw mine around.

Gary Johnson is the libertarian Parties Presidential candidate,
http://goo.gl/HzD59
there is a lot of talk of voting for Johnson or Ron Paul, it saddens me to see Liberal Democrats considering voting libertarian because the Democrat Presidents choose ignore the polls and state voters.
Keep on smoking.
DeleteI'm sure it's only "talk of voting for Johnson or Ron Paul", because neither of those two nuts stand a chance at the Presidency.
I see a pandemic of Glaucoma coming in the future.
DeleteYes, and then we'll have a repeat of the days when all the Ralph Nader voters whined the loudest about George Bush. They got the president they deserved. Unfortunately, the rest of us didn't. A brilliant move that.
ReplyDeleteI trust our president. He has his reasons and his timing, and I am not going to second guess him.
Oh, so THAT'S what that sound was! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Someone left similar statistics in the last post, which adds to this post, it's worth reading.

What they won't tell you: +827,000 private sector jobs in 2012
...Of course, that's not something you're hearing in the media as every outlet trips over the other to deliver the "bad news" that "the economic recovery is stalling." For what it's worth, it's true that from the preliminary report from the Labor department, the economy was shown to add 130,000 private sector jobs (115,000 on net as 15,000 public sector jobs were lost), a smaller number than earlier in the year. On the other hand, the unemployment rate dropped to 8.1%, which is due to a drop in the labor force participation rate that tracks to the babyboomers continuing to retire at a high pace, and a slowdown in immigration.
But here is what you are not hearing from the media outlets: (a) the preliminary numbers are likely to be revised up, and the last two months' numbers have been revised up, (b) the unemployment rate has dropped a full percentage point since August, and (c) the economy added 827,000 private sector jobs since the beginning of this year.
Despite adverse shocks that have created headwinds for economic growth the economy has added private sector jobs for 26 straight months, for a total of 4.25 million payroll jobs over that period. With upward revisions of 65,000 jobs to the past two months’ employment reports, in the first quarter of 2012 private employment expanded by 697,000 jobs, the largest quarterly increase since the first quarter of 2006. So far this year, 827,000 private sector jobs have been added, on net.
