Mr. Zimmerman turned himself in to the authorities in Sanford, Fla., early Sunday afternoon, according to a blog post from his lawyer, Mark O'Mara. Judge Kenneth R. Lester Jr. had revoked his bond two days earlier and gave him 48 hours to surrender to the authorities.
In revoking the bond, Judge Lester found that Mr. Zimmerman had misled the court about his finances, with the help of his wife, during his April bond hearing.
At the time, Mr. Zimmerman had access to as much as $135,000 from a PayPal account that collected donations through a legal defense Web site. But Mr. Zimmerman’s wife testified that she was unaware of how much money had been collected through the site. Because it was believed that Mr. Zimmerman had no money, he was released on a low bond of $150,000.
As evidence, prosecutors presented transcripts at Friday’s hearing of telephone conversations between Mr. Zimmerman, who was in jail, and his wife. They said the two were discussing in code what to do with the money.
Mr. O’Mara said that he was unaware of the money at the time of the first hearing and that he planned to ask for another bond hearing so that Mr. Zimmerman could explain himself to the judge.
Lying about your funds to a judge is a pretty big deal. And the fact that he talked in code to his wife about the money means he knew full well that he would get into trouble if the judge ever found out.
So much for any credibility Zimmerman might have had.
I am interested in how Fox News will spin THIS.
How Fox will spin this? They won't report it. They only report events that make their heroes look like victims. If their hero suddenly shows a different side, they'll ignore it and create another news distraction that they can pivot to for another 24 hours.
ReplyDeleteIt's like watching a kid with his hand in the cookie jar trying to make excuses or divert attention to his little sister for teasing the cat.
His credibility is very low, if not zero. Now with his finances. I wonder what else he's lied about or stretched the truth about himself.
ReplyDeleteAlso, not evidently a huge deal to the judge, yet ...

Prosecutors also accused Zimmerman on Friday of owning two passports and failing to surrender the second one at the bond hearing in April. Zimmerman had reported in 2004 that it had been lost or stolen, but in its motion, the prosecution quoted jailhouse calls between Zimmerman and his wife talking about the second passport.
"I have one for you in a safety deposit box," she said, according to prosecutors, to which Zimmerman replied, "OK, you hold on to that."
The judge dismissed that concern as the equivalent of someone who has lost a driver's license, applies for a new one and then finds the old one, according to the Associated Press.
But he was supposed to turn in the one that was found.
DeleteI'm never interested in how FAUX will view anything as it is an ongoing fantasy network.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm shocked, shocked I tell you--- that Zimmerman is an evil assed liar.
Well, not really shocked, just wondering how so many didn't know it already.
Every time I hear of TODAY's evil done by rightwing extremists, I wonder just how Fox will report it, so it doesn't seem so bad.
ReplyDeleteI just cannot stomach tuning in to watch, for myself. The only time I see the putrid excuse for "news" from that channel, is when someone like Jon Stewart airs a clip, and the audience laughs at how absurd it is.
I'm so tempted to create a Facebook feature that would tell each day's story of rulebreaking and immorality to come from Republicans, so that my Fox watching friends there can at least see the highlights of the truth.
Fox News: "Mission accomplished!!!" oops
ReplyDeleteFox News: "Obama born in Kenya!, Is Toad a Pimp??" oops
Was it Mr. Zimmermans PayPal account?
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't, he didn't have access to it
It wasn't his money
If I put my money in your paypal account
it's not my money, it's your money
It was an account opened and accessible to Zimmern.
DeleteAnonymous @ 12:25 PM. To answer your question, was it Zimmerman's PayPal account? Yes, it was. He opened it specifically to take in donations and whined in a letter to potential donors about how his life had been turned upside down, his livelihood was threatened and then he ended the letter with, "essentially, my life ended on February 26". I wanted to throw up when I read it and I told him so. He said he would respond to everyone who donated or wrote to him. The coward didn't reply, of course. What he did do, was hide the money, pretending it wasn't his to access although he had just promised in a letter left on the site to use it only for replacing his salary and his wife's since they "lost their ability to earn" and to use it for his defense fund. He's lied since day one about everything that happened, despite his own words being caught on the 911 call. He'll continue to lie throughout the trial and so will his family members. What a shame, Trayvon Martin isn't here to defend himself, due to Zimmerman taking his life. The man belongs in jail for a long time to come, no question about it.
ReplyDeleteGee, if Mr Zimmerman can lie to a judge, I wonder who else he's able to lie to? And why is Mrs. Zimmerman not joining him? Speaking in code shows she's aiding and abetting a murderer who thinks he's above the law.
ReplyDeleteI hope he's in general population, considering the ratio of men of color to white men in most prisons, Mr Zimmerman would be wise not to drop the soap in the shower, just sayin'! Sleeping with one eye open ain't easy either!
Lying to a judge bets you in trouble... Unless your name is Palin... (Example: look at them lying under oath in the case of the college student who guessed $arah's password to her email account...
ReplyDeleteWhere was Zimmerman hiding out? The Lake Lucille compound?
ReplyDeleteYes, he is a lying piece of $h¡t.
ReplyDeleteBut let us not forget the passports. He conveniently "lost" his passport, got a duplicate and then "found" the original.
So when he surrendered that passport, he had another. Plus all that cash he "forgot" about.
Secret code? Just goes to show the wife is part of the conspiracy.
They should have NO bail for this creep. The fact that he didn't flee (yet) doesn't mean he won't at the first opportunity. He knows he's going to lose now.
