Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
Joel Osteen (the preacher in the left hand side of the picture) believes in the so called "prosperity gospel", a belief that wealth and power are rewards for pious Christians
He's fabulously wealthy, and has a 10 million dollar home in the River Oaks section of Houston The taxes alone for 2010 were $267,000 dollars.
Almost 270 grand in property taxes on 10.5 million dollar property? (I'm sure he could get much more than that when selling it).
Think about the value of your own home and the percentage you pay. I'm sure part of it is an office, and as such, he can write that part off as part of his business.
Sometimes pictures do indeed speak more than a thousand words.
It's so easy to say you are a Christian (or any other religious adherent), but it is so much tougher to actually live it.
Sarah Palin and most far-right conservatives have proven that they know only how to talk the talk. They have a clue as to how to walk the walk (live their faith).
Oh, and in breaking news a millionaire preacher of a mega-church named Creflo DOLLAR was just busted and jailed for assaulting and choking his daughter
Dollar is a senior pastor of World Changers Church International in suburban Atlanta, which claims about 30,000 members and has an $18 million sanctuary that resembles a golden-domed spaceship atop a hill.
I guess the prosperity gospel doesn't say much about beating up your kids, or does it?
I had a friend who admired that Osteen grifter. We talked about him and his philosophy. Such crap from someone who I thought was intelligent and had common sense-I was truly shocked. She likes Joyce Meyer as well. Another snake oil salesperson.
People follow those who tell them what they want to hear. Right Scarah? Grifters' gotta grift, no?
Who was that Ralph guy in the 90's pimping for the Repugs???? Ralph Reed---that's him. I remember when he first came into the spot light and just by the look in his eyes I knew he was a conman. Turns out I was right, can't remember what took him down, but this Osteen guy has the same eyes. When he crashes and burns, I fear he will make Sandusky look like an angel.
I have to say that living it is much different than speaking it. There are exceptions, I know a few one percenters who never forgot where they came from and live lives in service to others, but they're not preachers who tell others to emulate a humble man in their day to day lives.
Here's his excuse, he's "blessed", "sincere", and "not being shallow", so no excuses for his wealth, afterall, he doesn't take a salary!
We're all just judgmental and jealous, doncha know?
I didn't have a problem with Joel,
ReplyDeleteUntil I heard he doesn't believe in homosexuality.
Well, Joel,
GOD must because HE created them!
(AND loves them as they are!)

His house has three in-house elevators, 6 bathrooms, and five wood-burning fireplaces,
and offers 17,000 square feet of living space.
I guess if you have more elevators that Mitt Romnney, you are really blessed by heavenly powers!

Sickening, isn't it?
