Chick-Fil-A tries to save face, by lying about WHY they no longer offer Jim Henson's toys.

Just in case you can't read it, here is what it says:

We apologize for any inconvenience but as of 7/19/2012 Chick-Fil-A has recalled all of Jim Henson's Creature Shop Puppets kid's Meal toys due to a possible safety issue. Please be advised that there have not been any cases in whihc a child has actually been injured, however there have been some reports of children getting their fingers stuck in the holes of the puppets. We are offering a substitution of a complimentary kids ice cream cone in its place until a replacement toy is available.

Thank you

Wow! There's a load of  chickenshit! Here let me translate:

We are incredibly embarrassed that our homophobic stance has now been publicized and in the hopes of fooling the few idiots that don't access the internet, or who have reading comprehension difficulties, we are writing up this lame, and totally transparent, excuse for why we no longer carry the very popular brand of toy.

Fucking cowards!  Hey if you are going to homophobic assholes, at least be homophobic assholes with balls!

By the way just in case you thought Chick-Fil-A were the only food outlet that supports an aggressive Right Wing agenda, you could not be more wrong:

Carl’s Jr. founder Carl Karcher, who died in 2008, had been a supporter of anti-abortion causes for decades. In particular, Karcher was fond of funding the anti-choice group Operation Rescue. He also had a mean anti-gay streak as well.

Like Karcher, Domino’s Pizza founder Tom Monaghan is an unapologetic supporter of anti-choice groups, including Operation Rescue, Right to Life, Priests for Life, and the Committee to End State-Funded Abortion in Michigan.

There are also a few others like White Castle and the Waffle House just to name two.

But hey, on the plus side just imagine how much healthier and skinnier we will all be by avoiding these places from now on?

Total effing cowards. Like most of the fundie right, they talk a good game but they don't have the balls of a two year old. Grow a pair Chik and stand up for why you are doing this. As an added note I wonder of the manufacturer of these toys has some legal recourse against this lie?

Then again, if their core customer base is a stupid as they are, and as bigoted etal, I doubt they can even read well enough past knowing they want to order the number two combo.

How can supporting something you belive in be anti-american? You are anti-american. You want to claim your freedom to do what you want in this country and then in return bash those who opose you. Are they not after all on doing the same thing you are just in a different aspect?

  6. So who's running Carl's Jr now that Carl is dead, and has their political stance changed?

I don't eat Domino's. Their new and improved pizza is just awful.

Plus I don't eat much fast food anymore anyway. I cook from scratch for two reasons. To control the quality and safety of the food I eat and because I haven't had a raise since 2007 and have had my paycheck reduced with furlough days for since 2010.

Now look for a plethora of Henson's Chick-fil-A toys to appear on eBay. You better believe the employees are snatching those things up and selling them. If there are any that were delivered and not given away, they will not end up in the landfill. Waste not want not.

Once years ago I was in a local mall and noticed for the first time a Chick-Fil-A restaurant that must have recently opened there. It was a Sunday, and the restaurant was dark inside. On an easel inside the entrance was a big sign that proclaimed CFA was closed on Sundays.

(Translation: Look at what good Christians we are! Look! Look! Look, damn you, LOOK!)

I had no desire to eat there anyway, but that sign was really all I needed to know.

OTOH I have always adored the Muppets, going back to Wilkins and Wonkins.

Seems to me that CFA is outright lying about why they no longer partner with Henson, and lying is a sin, according to CFA belief system. I guess it's not a sin when THEY do it, being such good public Christians and all.

Fucking lying hypocrites. I will continue to not eat there.

The one near us, in a mall no less, has a sign that reads "CFA is closed on Sunday so our Employees can Observe The Lord's Day". It's printed on card stock with the CFA logo on it.

Well, I never heard of this company but I'd never have gone there anyway. What is it with businesses anymore? In the olden days, they did not post political signs, they did not contribute as a company to political candidates, they did not involve themselves in social issues. I get really annoyed if I go into a place of business and find signs or posters announcing a stance on a particular subject or in favor (or against) a particular candidate.

I think the owner sounds angry at the Muppet's and is trying to get back at them. In addition, he is obviously trying to make it look like it was their decision to end their relationship with the Muppet's because of poor toy quality. But, actually it's Chick-Fel-A's responsibility to approve the toys before they purchase them from who ever the supplier was. Sad to see a "Christian" not only lie about it but in being vengeful as well. He will probably use Sarah Palin next to help clear his name and to get sympathy from the Christian community.

I've known about their anti-equality stance for awhile. Barring one low blood sugar incident, they haven't received a penny from me in years. At this rate, they never will.

America was founded on anti-equality. People will quote what they want but America was not founded to be a "melting pot". Our forefathers wrote what I know will get quoted soon, "we the people hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." To quote this though, you need to read further and understand that this was written with "we the people" means white people of european ancestory. And also that " all men are created equal" means that no "white man" can hold lordship, knightship, or kingship over any other white man. Therefore bashing an organization for their beliefs , and claiming that you are american and stand up for what america is about and that these organizations are unamerican are completely wrong and need to read up on your history.

How about posting a comprehensive list of anti-choice and homophobic businesses for us. I would greatly appreciate your effort and do my part to not support them.

  19. And of course like all the good little Reaganians--uh I'm sorry, "Christians" as they wish to call themselves--they fortify their lies with a healthy dose of calumny. If there's any justice they'll lose their hairshirts in the manufacturer's lawsuit for defamation and damage of reputation.

I have a longstanding Chick-fil-A addiction that I hope this latest flap will cure. But I do have some questions about chronology. The Muppets FB announcement was dated July 20, and the CFA sign says "as of July 19." Does anyone know whether these signs appeared on July 19, or were they put out this week with a misleading date? Or was the Muppets announcement a response to these signs? The whole "some kids have gotten their fingers stuck" excuse is so lame that I don't buy it at all; I'm just curious about actual timing.

FWIW, I was in our local (very conservative, Republican, whitebread community) CFA Saturday, July 21, and I didn't see any of these signs about the Muppet toys. I wasn't looking, but I usually am pretty observant. So that's another small thing that makes me wonder about the timing.

It may well be that the company knew before the statement was released to the press, and they're trying to bank on that with the date confusion.

They retroactively announced it doncha know... You can put a date on any sign and it means nothing. The Hensen folk talked to the Chik folk before the Hensen folk made their announcement, that's how it is done in the business world. When the Chik folk said tough nuts, we're not backing down, the Hensen folks announced the end of the relationship.

  24. Not surprised that they resorted to such a quick and devious lie rather than standing by those sanctimonious 'high' morals they claim to possess. Do they actually think their potential customers don't read or listen to the news? Those who approve of their policy won't be bothered but there will be a few who see this for the big lie that it is. I hope the deceit causes them to leave and head for an In/Out.

  25. I was over on their Facebook page and OMG i really really worry about some of the people in this country. To be filled with so much hatred of people you have never met boggles the mind. It also seems that being Catholic( I identify as Catholic but I'm an non-denominational minister because i can't be ordained in the Catholic church) I am going to hell because I am not Christian(that's news to me)No worries though as my parents were already going to hell for having an interracial marriage so i guess i never had a hope in their eyes. lol I love how everyone is going to hell for all the sins we are committing except of course the good old fashioned judgmental plank eyed saints. I support the LBGT community and if you need a marriage ceremony this non-denominational minister will be all to willing to donate her services.

Ugh. I ate Domino's Pizza 2 weekends ago when I went to work as it was a late night and nothing much available by the time I got to the hotel. I will NEVER do that again. Thank you for posting this information. Not only the bit about the Domino's dude being right-to-life, anti-pro-choice, etc, but someone else's comment about it being a Bain Capital company.
I feel like I should wash my mouth out, not to mention scrub my intestinal tract.

Oh, gee, a "safety issue" with the toys, how convenient!

And I thought telling lies was a big no no to people who want to live a biblical life.

These asshats don't deserve the genius of "the muppets", perhaps they'll put bible tracts, biblical coloring books, action figures and symbols in their "happy meals".

I have never liked any of those particular restaurants so I've actually been boycotting that list for years simply because their are better options available if I'm craving fast food! Heard Carl's Jr was good but they aren't located on the East coast so fuck 'em!

Even though I totally abhor eating that kind of crap anyways. I also think that it's their business and they can run it any way they want. Nobody HAS to eat there. It kind of works out to be a first amendment issue.

I don't want to have them tell me what to believe so I shouldn't tell them what to believe.
