CBS' Nancy Cordes reported Wednesday that Republicans' many fruitless attempts at repealing the Affordable Care Act have taken up at least 80 hours of time on the House floor since 2010, amounting to two full work weeks. As the House, according to the Congressional Research Service, costs taxpayers $24 million a week to operate, those two weeks amounted to a total cost of approximately $48 million.
The thing is that these politicians KNOW full well that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act will never get through the Senate and yet they continue engaging in this right wing circle jerk so that they can look like anti-Obama badasses to their Teabagger constituents.
So the next time you hear some Republican start talking about the President "wasting taxpayer money" or "not doing anything about jobs in this country," you show them this post and remind them that THIS is what their side has been doing for the last two years instead of working to fix the economy or put the American people back to work.
Oh, and by the way, THIS is what they are trying so damn hard to repeal. This is Obamacare!
I'm still waiting for Romney to ask a crowd 'Are you better off now than you were four years ago' He doesn't dare.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am so tired of the Palin nonsense that I know am not even tempted to click on the latest story of her endorsement, her daughter's child, her daughter's TV foibles, or her husband's wonderful new friends. I think I am over her. Whew!
Teabagger "fiscal conservatism" is similar to Sarah Palin's "fiscal conservatism." Wasilla knows how fiscally conservative the skank is. 20+ million in the red because of the sports complex fiasco. Another chunk of public money to do her office up like a bordello with a dead animal theme. And of course those free windows (and other supplies for the "Fortress of Stupitude" (thanks Gryphen). And there is the dairygate handoff to her pals. But they do love their "gubmint" health care and all the other benefits the "evil gubmint" provides them (our tax dollars).
ReplyDeleteSince the Congress (or should that be little c as in congress?)works only three days a week, wouldn't that be closer to 80 million dollars this BS is costing the taxpayers? Not to mention all the other times this has been brought up in speeches on the house and senate floors.
ReplyDeleteReading that letter, it says "Affordable Health Care Act" NOT obamacare. The TeaTards will never make the connection. And the Republicans will never admit the connection.
