It is no longer "Sarah Palin's Alaska." Music to my ears.

"Goddamn it Alaska! You're not done with me until I TELL you you're done with me!"
Here is a great article courtesy of political guru Nate Silver:

Today, Ms. Palin and the Last Frontier are hard to find in political reporting. Ms. Palin is heard from very little beyond her role as a contributor on Fox News. The latest story about Ms. Palin centered on whether she would be invited to speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

Alaska voters also seem to have moved past the Palin era. An Ivan Moore Research poll in late 2011 found that just 29 percent of registered voters in Alaska had positive feelings about Ms. Palin.

“I have a sense that today she would have a very hard time getting elected here,” said Margaret Stock, an adjunct instructor in the department of political science at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

“I don’t think she could get elected to anything,” said Donald C. Mitchell, who has written extensively about Native Alaskans and Alaska politics.

While no longer enamored with Ms. Palin, Alaska is still a conservative state and Mitt Romney should have little trouble winning its three electoral votes. But the state’s political instincts are more nuanced and idiosyncratic than the partisan image of its most famous Republican governor.

As visitors here already know I have been saying this same thing, and gleefully watching Palin slip into irrelevancy, for the last three years, but hearing  it come out of the mouth of the great Nate Silver is admittedly pretty damn gratifying.

Of course Nate is also right that Alaska is still a deeply red state, though there are some indications that we might be moving somewhat more to the middle. Especially since the Republican party is now firmly in the hands of the Teabaggers.

Of course what Nate Silver was too much of a gentleman to mention is that Palin is not simply done in Alaska, she is essentially done everywhere!

The only people who would EVER call a STATE "so and so's _______" have identity problems of their own and need to come to terms with their own dysfunctions. There are a TON of people up there who've never met Sarah. Heck there are a ton of people in the valley who've never met her. She WAS the reason Alaska was put in the spotlight in 2008 so the saying is appropriate. She HAD an 80% approval rating in AK whether people had met her or not. What is your problem? Can't understand figurative versus literal?

My favorite scene from "Game Change, The Movie", was when the beautiful Julianne Moore, burdened by the prostheses needed to portray "The Ugly", was fixated on her "approval ratings" in "Alaska". Bwaaahhhaaaaa "I can't go back to Alaskaaaaaa! Whaaaaaa!"

Can't wait for her to walk up and accept the award, the meltdown scene surrounded by index cards, has GOT to be the trump scene they use.

Of course, Palin is not electable... because she will never run for any office. Politics is work and Palin now only struts to podiums and only accepts tribute.

When Palin is really done in Alaska, people will cash in on all their Trig tales goldmines. So Palin isn't ready to yield her iron grip. She still controls with fear.

Interestingly enough I wonder if Joe Miller's wife, who is one of our electoral voters in AK would actually vote for Romney? I somehow doubt it.

Whether you like it or not, FOOL, the media has done a great job of making it Sarah Palin's Alaska, along with the loudmouth herself.

Just because they haven't met her, doesn't mean they don't know who she is. And clearly, now that they do, they just aren't into her.

She and her pimp husband have taken full advantage of the lax laws and crony coverups, the 'wild west' reputation of Alaska. Sarah and Todd have been running their own little mafia, complete with fires, plane crashes and coverups galore, but as I see, the more people have been exposed to her, the more she becomes old news and obsolete.

    Your metaphor sucks.

Before Sarah Alaska had the reputation of a glorious wonderland of wild animals, breathtaking vistas and stunning nature. After Sarah we heard of shooting wolves from helicopters, paying money for wolf legs, killing animals illegally, abuses of power, family feuds, water in gas tanks, murders in fires and destruction of records...and faked pregnancies.

I'm so glad that Alaska is regaining her status as the gorgeous place that it is and the stain of the Palin/Heath clan is finally wearing off.

I think it is interesting that this woman, who had immense potential power, heady fame and fortune tossed into her lap, squandered every last bit of it trying to prove something(lord knows what).

Someone with half a brain and a bit of class could have buckled down and learned what she didn't know, could have learned from her mistakes, could have paid attention to all those who tried to help her and could have become a powerhouse in politics in this country and the world. She could have actually accomplished many of the idiotic things she set out to accomplish if she could have ever shut her mouth and paid attention.

But not Sarah Palin...she has to do it her way, never understanding how breathtakingly clueless she is. The Dunning-Kruger effect personified.

Her adoring public left her in droves when they realized she was only in it for the fame and cash and had no knowledge at all and no interest in gaining any. All that remains are her most drooling supporters, and only a few of them at that.

Even Bill O'Reilly (Yuk!) said after the defeat of McCain/Palin in 2008 that Palin should go back to Alaska, govern her state, learn something, get educated on the issues and then come back to the national stage. But, of course, she didn't. She sold out for the money and is still clueless to this day about issues. She's pathetic (but rich).
You know, I think she must realize when she looks in the mirror at herself how totally clueless she really is, but also how she has been able to pull to wool over so many people's eyes. But she still has to know the truth about herself and that will ultimately haunt her.

Olivia the first thing that popped in my mind when I read your comment was the parable of the talents:

A man decided to go on a long trip, so he called his servants and asked them to take care of his house, his stuff and his money. The man decided to give one servant five talents of money, to another he gave two talents and to the last servant he gave one talent.  He gave each servant a large amount he thought they could handle or according to their ability. The man left on his trip and the servants each did something with the money that they received.

The man with the five talents went right away and used his money and got five more!  The man with the two talents also used his money wisely and gained two more talents.

But the man with one talent took his talent and buried it in the ground to keep the money safe.  He didn't even try to do something with it.

After the long trip the master came back and wanted to know what his servants did with his money.  The first man with the five talents said, "You trusted me with five talents and I made five more!"

His master smiled and replied, "Great job, good and faithful servant!"  You are trustworthy with a few things so I will put you in charge of lots of things.  Come celebrate with me!

Then the man with the two talents came and said, "You trusted me with two talents and I made two more!"
His master smiled and replied, "Great job, good and faithful servant!"  You are trustworthy with a few things so I will put you in charge of lots of things.  Come celebrate with me!

Then the man who received the one talent came and told his master, "I know you work hard for your money, so I was afraid to lose any of it.  I decided to bury it and keep it safe.  Here is your one talent back."

The master was not impressed and said, You lazy servant!  At the very least you could've taken the money to the bank and you would've at least collected some interest from it."

He immediately took the talent away from the man and gave it to the first man who used his money to make more.

Pssst Sarah the story is in your precious bible Matthew 25. You took your talent - a valuable gift and buried it. What a shame and a waste that you were lazy and can never be trusted with a talent again.

Mitt Romney: Cayman Islands Accounts Used By Foreign Investors To 'Not Be Subject To' U.S. Taxes

Some tax experts are alarmed by Mitt Romney's apparent admission that Bain Capital set up offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands to help wealthy investors avoid paying U.S. taxes.

    What an arrogant SOB.

Mitt Romney Never Thought He'd Have To Release Tax Returns: Bain Sources

Mitt Romney has been determined to resist releasing his tax returns at least since his bid for Massachusetts governor in 2002 and has been confident that he will never be forced to do so, several current and former Bain executives tell The Huffington Post. Had he thought otherwise, say the sources based on their longtime understanding of Romney, he never would have gone forward with his run for president.

Bain executives say they've been instructed to keep company and Romney-specific information completely confidential, tightening the lockdown on an already closed company.

...While Romney may personally prefer to drop out before releasing more returns, people who know him note that he doesn't always do what he wants. Torn between his longtime desire to be president and his equally strong belief that he should not be forced to release more returns, Romney may turn, as he has with so many big decisions, to strict numbers-based analysis. If he plummets in the polls and the risk of defeat presses itself on him, the sources say, his calculation could change.

He reflects the "values" he gets at home, as well as the vocabulary. He's a crystal-clear mirror into the mind and heart of Sarah and Bristol Palin.

I'm not a prude, but there are boundaries. A home should be a positive, supportive, happy place, where a child can grow at his own pace, become his own person, and can learn to love, as he is loved.

Republican Convention 2012 Has Pair Of Shoes With No Sarah Palin In Them

...Let's recall who Sarah Palin was at the time John McCain selected her to be his running mate: She was a state governor with a reputation in conservative circles as a reformer. Flash forward to 2012, and it's even truer now that the pride of the GOP is found in the statehouses they control, among governors who enjoy a similar "reformer" reputation, without all of Palin's silliness. The new stars in the firmament are governors like Scott Walker, Chris Christie, Tom Corbett, Nikki Haley, Bob McDonnell, Susana Martinez, Bobby Jindal and Jan Brewer.

For Republicans, this is where all the action is. These are the people who fought public sector unions at home and the Affordable Care Act in the courts. They're the ones making the economic arguments that Romney will want to say he'll bring to Washington if he's elected. Their faces tell the story of ethnic and gender diversity that the GOP wants to tell. And they don't bring the baggage -- or the terrible approval ratings -- of their colleagues in the House and Senate. (The downside? They also box Romney in on immigration reform, although this probably doesn't matter one whit to the GOP base.)

Whether Romney authors the decision or has it authored for him, I'd expect those folks to be doing most of the heavy lifting, in terms of speaking at the Republican National Convention. This doesn't necessarily rule out Palin's participation, but put yourself in Reince Priebus' shoes for a minute: When you can book these names, do you really need Sarah Palin?

Poor Sarah was insulted that she wasn't invited to speak at the Republican Convention. It might have something to do with Sarah's "gravitas." No sooner does Bristol's reality show finish then we will be treated to Todd jumping out of helicopters. Neither is in keeping with the dignified image of speaking at a political convention.

Recently, I saw an on-line entertainment gossip site which hinted that one of the channels that features reality shows would like a summer wedding-- hinting that it might be Bristol. If Bristol gets married on TV this summer or even this fall, it diminishes what little credibility Sarah has as a Fox News person.

I agree with you good people, I think your feelings about Palin speaking for Alaska is how I feel about Chris Christie speaking for NJ (where I am from)it makes your skin crawl. At least we have Bruce, which is always a hoot when Christie goes on and on about his Bruce worship and Bruce shuns him publically at every turn. Bruce hates everything Christie stands for...as does Jon Bon Jovi, another NJ hero. Anyway...your state is a wonderous jewel we normal people down here love to see. I have watched tons of hours of your beautiful state....you have alot to be proud with the landscape and wildlife and yes the true pioneer spirit of the "real" Alaskans..I salute you.

On another note I believe that the true nature of a person eventually shows itself...if given the right environment. Take Palin....thrown into the limelight, celebrity worshiped....all she had to do was speak and look glamorous. Her true nature rose to the top. All the racist hate found an audience, and came with tons of money and unreal adoration. There was no need to actually work or learn anything, or even be a proper parent. A true sociopath has no need for a conscience. Then take Romney, who believes this presidency belongs to him because its time. There is nothing left when you have amassed his fortune, his need is power. He is bored with the game of screwing America out its money...people are nothing in his world. Its the art of the game...and he is just tired of playing. His true nature comes thru everytime he opens his mouth. I deserve this and you dumb sheep owe me this election, I don't care how much money it takes or how many lies....I deserve this. I for one would like Matt Taibi at Rolling Stone to do a piece on the Mormon church. Bloomberg has a great article, when you put that religion next to Mitt...its a perfect fit.

Yep - I'm in Texas and Rick Perry doesn't speak for me. At one point, I guess 51% of Texans liked him, but I really doubt it would be that way now. "oops!"

That's EXACTLY the image I have of the whining toddlers at the Kiddie Pool, every time I read the endless comments they've scrawled on the wall in red crayon.

Hunger Reads: GQ's Jason Zengerle is No Sarah Palin

Palin sets new standard for vetting Veep candidates. She is not gonna like this. No. She is NOT.

Why should sarah be insulted when she was already planning to crash the party at the mall she rented back in April?

Questions for Gryphen and the residents of Alaska who visit here:

Is Sarah and/or her family seen out and about at all in your neck of the woods? Do they make runs to the store? How do they re-supply their compound? Do they employ gophers to make essential runs? Do they get heckled? I am curious about how international jokes live their lives.

      NO!!!! NOT CHRISTIAN BRISTOL?

Maybe Bristol was praying for the winos and drunks entering the store?

      Or buying condoms?

I think Nate Silver is great and The Immoral Minority is my favorite blog. However, I now see Sarah Palin's fortunes turning the other way.

The Mitt Romney tax flap/Bain albatross isn't going away anytime soon. It will weaken him to the point that Ron Paul and Co. will give the GOP Revolution one more shot around Tampa time.

And you can be sure that even though SP lacks intelligence, she doesn't lack the instinct to smell blood. She may very well wind up as one of the signatures mouthpieces on the winning side of this history.

  35. Since SP loves being in the spotlight, famous, and the entertainment business, she must be overjoyed (unhunh) at the number of Emmy nominations for "Game Change":

I suspect fame or infamy is fine with her; she just can't accept being ignored.
