Just in case you required another reason to tune into HBO's "The Newsroom" tonight.
Stop the stereotypes. Gay republicans and pro-gay rightwingers do exist and homophobic or anti-gay marriage democrats exist. Rise above IM folk. Stop acting stupid.
The "real" conservatives, as they call themselves don't allow anyone else that title unless you are white, Christian, and at least pretend to be hetero.
I have this discussion all the time with a person I know, and she insists that in "today's America" you can't be fiscally conservative, and socially liberal, or even moderate.
Bottom line: if you are a far right conservative NRA type, but you are GAY or LESBIAN, then they don't want your kind.
Even worse is a conservative who is not a CHristian.
But the very worst of all is an atheist conservative. The Paylin types would as soon you die in a gutter and get pushed into a snowbank as be a conservative atheist.
Oh please, that's like saying the Tea Party is non-partisan because a small percentage of their followers choose to call themselves "Independent" instead of "GOP"... or the tiny, tiny few that claimed to be "Democrat" just for the heck of it.
Or how the Tea Party proudly displays its "diversity" by photographing the 3 African Americans, 4 Latinos and 2 Asians that attended the latest rally along with over 5,000 Caucasians.

Consider that Sorkin is following an actual time line with this show....can't wait till he gets his hands on Gun Control. The first season is done filming, so we can look forward to next season which will be after the election to address this baffling problem. It is time, way past time to shut the NRA the f up. Jason did an outstanding job with that tweet, but then of course he is a reasonable man dealing with facts, something the right is oblivious to. Did you catch the article about Issa? With the congress going on summer recess, with no job bills...he wants to re name the 3 mile coastline of the USA after Reagan. How do these idiots keep getting elected????
oh come on anon 5:00, stereotypes are just generalities we use to group traits or behaviors. Everyone does it and it's helpful in a lot of instances, think smokers and lung disease. You have got to admit that there are more pro-gay liberals and and more republican are against gay marriage. The humor comes from the irony and absurdity as in the above line by Bridges. The danger is assuming these traits are shared by everyone of a certain type. I don't think anyone here denies that there are gay republicans and some liberals are against gay marriage.

Yes, I am late to this post, but that was the first thing I read this morning. I wonder if the person who put up the picture with the quote used his own words or if this is in the show. If so, I hope that Jeff Daniels' character gets called out on this by someone on the staff, and that should be very interesting.

The images brought it all back for survivors of the 1999 Columbine massacre. The blood. The tears. The confusion and the heartache, the elusive search for a reason why.
Paralyzed in the Columbine shootings, Anne Marie Hochhalter, now 30, says friends still reach out to alert her to prepare for disturbing images on the news. She got a text message Friday morning when she woke up. Warning, it said. There was another one, this time close to home.
Hochhalter took a deep breath and turned on the TV.
Funny how even among criminals, there's a code of conduct. Pedophiles and mass murderers seem not to fare so well. Justice has a way of serving itself in situations like this. Beware Mr. Holmes you are soon to meet your master.
James Holmes, Aurora Shooting Suspect, Faces Death Threats From Other Inmates
Inmates and prison workers are reporting unusual behavior from the 24-year-old sole suspect of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting.
According to the New York Daily News, James Egan Holmes entered the prison dressed up like the Joker, "acting crazy" and "spitting on guards". The Daily News also reported that other inmates have threatened to kill Holmes.
“All the inmates were talking about killing him," just-released inmate Wayne Medley told the Daily News. "Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about."
Holmes is being held at the Arapahoe Detention Center in solitary confinement.
Police said that he had planned the attack for months.
Tripp Palin Gay Slur: Bristol's Son Calls Aunt Willow A 'Faggot' On Reality Show
The Palins have never been known for being particularly gay-friendly -- and unfortunately, it seems as if the youngest member of the family is following in the footsteps of his elders.
A newly-released clip from the Lifetime reality series "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp" shows Tripp Palin uttering a homophobic slur when mom Bristol and aunt Willow won't let him visit the swimming pool.
The Palin sisters gasp, and then giggle, when three-year-old Tripp's temper tantrum culminates in the tot calling his aunt a "faggot."
Though Bristol does confess that she's "doing a terrible job disciplining Tripp…I know he's going to continue to push the boundaries," her son's behavior doesn't seem too out of step, given his family's history of anti-gay activity. In 2010, Willow sparked controversy when she fired off at a classmate on Facebook, referring to him "so gay" and "such a faggot."
Perhaps Sarah Palin's grandson would be better served by taking notes from dad Levi Johnston, who in 2009 embraced his gay icon status on "The Joy Behar Show" following his steamy spread in Playgirl magazine.
OT/but isn't it worth looking at the FB post when Levi wrote "my sons"? I forget where I saw it the other day...one of the bloggers...but it was the one that focused more on Willow's rantings than Levi's response.
I love this show! IMO, this week's show was another HIT!
The "teaching moments" re: Koch brothers, Citizens United was stellar. That part of the show should go viral. People (besides Rachel Maddow) need to realize that the plan was A) Unlimited political contributions from corporations and unions -and- B) Get rid of the unions.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that Plan C was: Keep minorities and students (and any other group that tends to vote Dem) away from the polls through new restrictive Voter ID Laws. Oh, but that's probably a future episode.
I hope The Newsroom is receiving good ratings. I'd like to see it continue for years.

Such a great show (and of course, up against the mostly ridiculous crap being shown on TV, it really stands out!)

(I highly suggest everyone "tape" it, so they can run it back, should anything distract, even for a second!)
