You know I NEVER thought I would hear myself saying this, but I think perhaps John McCain DID make the right decision in choosing Sarah Palin over Mitt Romney.
Now if you will excuse me I have to go wash my mouth out with soap.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
What I don't get is why no one is talking about the U.S. Olympic uniforms being outsourced to Myanmar during Romney's "leadership."
ReplyDeleteDifferent uniforms are made by different countries. The opening/closing outfits, competition outfits, outfits worn for medal awards.
DeleteNot only were uniforms outsourced to Myanmar, but also to Canada.
"This is hardly the first time patriotism has been discussed when it comes to Olympic clothing. The must-have souvenir of the 2002 Salt Lake Games was a fleece beret, something that athletes wore in the opening ceremony and prompted countless people to spend hours on lines waiting to purchase during those Olympics.
Those berets were made by Roots, a Canadian company that was the official U.S. team outfitter for that opening ceremony"
http://www.manufacturing.net/news/2012/07/lawmakers-furious-over-china-made-olympic-uniform
he did the same thing at the Olympics as he did at Bain. He pulled in investors and made big $$$ for his cronies. He ALSO used the government to pony up more funds that all the other Olympic games combined. IOW - he put it on the taxpayers AGAIN while he took a profit along with his friends. standard MO.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.sodahead.com/united-states/truth-on-mitt-romneys-olympic-leadership/question-2654379/
I don't care that he got a bailout for the Olympics...I care about the fact that he used his influence to benefit companies that were owned by Bain or that Bain had a share in. One example -- he made a big deal about how board members of the Olympics were getting free lunches...so he started serving pizza and selling slices for $1...guess what? The pizzas were from Dominos and either Bain owned them or had a share.
ReplyDeleteThis goes on and on. He gave preferences to Bain affiliates and companies owned by Mormons...
Add 5000 mattresses from Bain owned Sealy and office supplies from Staples. Crony Capitalism at its worst!
DeleteI think it's really offensive that he steps to the microphone, and demands all the credit for the Salt Lake Olympics, when so many people worked so hard to make those games a success.
DeleteI always thought that the Mitt as Olympic Savior fairy tale seemed like it was developed for use in Mitten's Republican convention nomination video.
And where did I read that story about Mitt's profanity-laced tirade on a Salt Lake City police officer over a traffic incident? Many f-bombs dropped by Mittens.
Mitt Romney believes HE saved the Olympic Games.
DeleteMr. Romney...you didn't build that.
@752
DeleteYeah, he reportedly even told people that he was doing this to up his image to further his political career. I have no doubt that the Mormons FOR SURE gifted Romney this opportunity so he could have a good reason to run for office since his career at Bain failed to impress people in 1994.
I live in Chicago and have NO IDEA who was in charge of our Olympic bid...and it was on the news every day for, like, two years.
(btw one thing the IOC didn't like about our bid was that we were going to be funded 100 percent privately -- us Chicago commies
Over two days, Fox News used *42* segments to fabricate a scandal, using heavily edited comments made by Obama about business owners and the public infrastructure that supports them. FULL STORY: http://bit.ly/NFXDxY
ReplyDeleteAnd not one minute devoted to the daily lies of Mitt.
DeleteHere's a little tune written in Willard's honor. Or is that a contradiction in terms? The song title is: "Your Money's No Good," and the group is "The Offshore Accounts.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to play it:

Lyrics:
Your Money's No Good
You think you can buy an election
Just like you pay for erections?
It’s time for some introspection:
Your money’s no good!
The Time Has Come And Gone
For you and your arrogant pawns.
Your money’s no good.
Your money’s no good
Your offshore accounts
Are nothing but treason.
Your vampire capital stunts
Are the bane of all seasons
Too late to say maybe you “could.”
The shit has hit the fan
This land is Our Land.
Your money’s no good
Gee, that suit fits you well.
You’ll be the best dressed man in hell.
The 1% there did succeed
Cheers to the King of Greed! (2X)
Don’t worry you’ll get food stamps to eat
A Tea Party gourmet feat!
Golly! Dang, it’s a sin
There’s no place to cash ‘em in.
You can’t buy or steal my vote!
That’s all she wrote
Your Money’s No good (3X)

1.3 billion in taxpayer funds to Mitt's MORMON friends in Utah is what "saved" the Olympics.
ReplyDeletethe bailout olympics
oh, and Mitt signed an assault weapons ban in MA
Oh, you and that darn internet! Always finding the facts about Mitt before he has time to prepare the bait and switch response! I'm certain that he librul media and Obama are to blame: Mitt's a Mormon HERO!
DeleteHoly shit.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like Government on our side there, perhaps so, huh Sarah?
No wonder McCain didn't chose Mitt, the hatred against the guy was palpable. Easier to chose a nobody he couldn't have formed an opinion on whatsoever and hope for the best. McCain hated Senator Stevens also too, so he must of really thought Sarah 'took him on,' even though Sarah avoided the 'establishment' like the plague. She knew they'd embarrass her one-on-one.
The reason I am officially endorsing Milliard Willord Mittens "Mitt" Rmoney for president in 2012 is that Barack Obama said the following five highly unAmercian things.
ReplyDelete1) "If you have a successful business, you didn't build it"
2) "American servicemen are cowardly nancyboys who can't shoot straight"
3) "American white men have teeny tiny peckers and white women are ugly."
4) "I was born in Kenya and worship Satan."
5) "I will personally come to your house and take your guns away."
Don't get your panties in a twist asking for exact dates or complete texts of these statements. The only details you people need to know is that Obama said something very, very close to these statement at some point to some people somewhere for some reason. And, let's face it, even if he didn't actually say these things, he probably wanted to, right?
Compare that to the five awesome things Rmoney said recently.
1) "lower taxes on the wealthy, eliminate regulations, repeal Obamacare"
2) "lower taxes on the wealthy, eliminate regulations, repeal Obamacare"
3) "lower taxes on the wealthy, eliminate regulations, repeal Obamacare"
4) "lower taxes on the wealthy, eliminate regulations, repeal Obamacare"
5) "you wanna see my taxes, you can kiss my ass"
YAY!!
Re-elect George W. Bush!!
Vote Rmoney2012!
LMAO!!! You are hysterical!! I want to know who you really are. I have this image, but I bet it's wrong!! I especially love when a commenter takes you seriously
DeleteAnon858
DeleteYeah, the blustery rebuttals are a lot of fun to read.
You're right: your image of me is completely wrong.
Paradoxically, my image of you is almost assuredly spot on. For example, I'm almost certain that you drive an immaculate 1992 red Saab 900 turbo convertible...
*GinaM giving Beldar the side eye*
DeleteUmm...are you internet cheating on me Beldar??
Hey, Gina baby... Uh... I didnt hear you come in. Naw, I ain't internet cheating on you, baby. I was thinking of... uh... internet buying you this new car. Yeah, this is... Anonymous... she's selling a really gorgeous classic Saab convertible. I could totally internet see you driving this sweet ride, baby.
DeleteC'mon, Gina, don't internet look at me like that... It won't internet happen again.... I internet promise to make it up to you. I swear to Zeus....
Wow, you internet look awesome!! Did you lose internet weight??
*GinaM giggling girlishly*
DeleteOh Beldar...I can't stay mad at you! And yes I have lost some internet weight...I haven't been feeding the trolls (looking at Krusty extra hard!) and my internet thighs and internet butt has gotten smaller! So happy you noticed!
For a minute there I thought I was going to have to remove my earrings and smear my face with vaseline and whoop 8:58AM's internet ass...but I see I must have misunderstood 8:58's intention....right 8:58.....I SAID....RIGHT?
LOL!!
@GinaM and Beldar, You two are internet funny today!

O/T - but since you made a comparison of sorts to Miz Palin -- in some of the clips about his blind trust, Romney is sitting in front of a stone fireplace, American flag to his right, and some clutter to the right.
ReplyDeleteAnybody else notice?
You know, I have to agree; McCain probably did make the right decision with Palin before Romney. There is a megalomania with Romney that Palin didn't demonstrate at first. She had the potential for it, but Romney is really in a world all his own.
ReplyDeleteOlympics' savior may be a notch in Romney's belt, but only in a temporary profitable way for the State of Utah. From the sounds of it though, the State is still in an economic downswing and real estate and construction is an all-time low; so what the Olympics did for it, is debatable.
Gryphen .. how mean of you to pick on a guy with a sick wife.
ReplyDeleteThat means she would be a drug addict first lady!! LOL
DeleteAnn Rmoney is a sick bitch all right.
DeleteWhew! for a second there, I thought you meant the former Mrs McCain, you know, the one who was disfigured in a car accident while dutifully waiting for her disfigured war hero husband to come home, only to find out she was "broken goods, wouldn't make a pretty first lady", kicked to the curb, And he went for CindyLoo instead.
DeleteMcCain couldn't pick Romney, nothing says "I feel your pain!" like two old white dudes who have no clue how many mansions they own.

ReplyDeletere: Mitt--to know him is not to love him. Something else he has in common with Palin.
ReplyDeleteThere was a video the other day I watched (but forget where - whether here or on TV???) that Mitt had got money from every department including the Education Department for which he got about a million dollars to buy tickets so that kids could see the games. Knowing the prices of tickets, that didn't buy much. Add the fact that -- Whose's kids?? Were the tickets then provided to his cronies?? Kids of Utah only as if it was kids elsewere and even in Utah, they need transportation too. Would be nice if proof is available where the tickets went to.
ReplyDeleteOne thing the Mormons have in abundance...kids!
DeleteI bet you $10,000 that they were all Mormon kids.
DeleteI saw that, it was earmark money meant for the Special Olympians, he was crowing like a rooster how the federal Government just handed the governor millions of dollars, and thus, saved the state all that money, and they got to bring the kids.
DeleteTypical "Severe Conservative" values.
Karen, if R really did sign an assault weapons ban, it would be the very first thing I have read/heard of this man that I can approve of. Well, actually the second one, if the MA healthcare law really works for its citizens.
ReplyDeleteFull disclosure: I am for stringent gun regulation and single payer, i. e. Medicare for all or some similar way of providing health care for all citizens while limiting the obscene profits of Big Pharma and the rest of the biomedical/industrial complex. ACA will have to do until then.
Thanks for the info.
fromthediagonal
Looking at this - the ban was signed in 1998 without a sunset clause which therefore means it remains in force indefintely -- 1998 is before Mitt
Deletehttp://www.goal.org/Documents/law_faq_pdfs/awtimeline.pdf
Wall Street Journal is saying that Mittens signed a permanent ban in 2004, which makes it confusing as the first link shows 1998. It makes reference to the federal law expiring in 2004 and But then -- I don't trust the WSJ. I see it as Mittens signing a law for appearance sake only.

Deletewell said, tho nothing Rmoney may have done right in the past reduces the threat he poses to America's future.
At least Big Pharma's Big Profits and high doctors' fees and hospital costs are related to the provision of actual health care. What do Americans gain from the Big Profits generated by Big Health Insurance? Besides real life Death Panels, that is... The ACA is a deep soul kiss to the insurance industry that hopefully will be modified during President Obama's second term.
Obama2012
Mitt Romney gives me a 1.5 year's of tax returns and tells me it's enough. Mitt's veep choice will only give me 1.5 year's of tax returns also. "Saving" the Utah Olympics talking point is smoke screen for Mitt's non-disclosure. He ain't foolin' anyone.
ReplyDeleteAnd bragging about abusing a dog isn't going away either. And retroactively retiring while filing misleading papers with the SEC isn't going away.
The Mitt campaign is laughably incompetent. Believe it or no, Mitt, someone in the world "saves " the Olympics every 4 years, summer and winter. It ain't f...ing rocket science, Mitt.
Fact: Romney has not given you 1.5 year's of tax returns.
DeleteThe 2010 year released was incomplete. The supporting documents were not included. Therefore 2010 disclosure was incomplete.
2011 was only an estimate and shortly thereafter he filed for an extension. He has still not filed for 2011 -- therefore any numbers given are estimates only.
So -- Romney's only provided I'll say about .7 of tax returns. Estimates -- useless and unreliable.
Meh when it comes to Mitt implying he was saving anything for everyone.
ReplyDeleteMitt was in it for the ego boost, prestige, his being a control queen. Also, as usual, Mitt was in it especially for money and for himself, Bain and some Mormons (and some others non-Mormons) making money off of the Olympics.
Along with anyone he had to pay off or bribe. Locally, state, USA, internationally (and on the Olympic Committee and other higher ups).
O/T ... looks like Tampa will be capitalizing on $aint $arah's 'talents'. Bwahahaha!
ReplyDeletehttp://wonkette.com/478926/george-w-bush-selflessly-chooses-to-let-others-enjoy-all-of-tampas-strippers#more-478926
Mitt can't talk about his religion. Can't talk about his days as governor of MA. Can't talk about Bain. Refuses to show his tax returns. Abused his dog. Sold a doped up, lame horse to someone and had to settle out of court with her. So he runs to talk about the Olympics knowing that the real story of how he handled the Olympics would show he profited off of taxpayer money. I'm beginning to think he's not too bright even though he made a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteAnn's not too bright either.
Sharon,
DeleteI can't figure out for the life of me how he was ever smart enough to make that fortune.
I know some really, really rich people, and there is none of them as dim as this guy.
I go back and forth between detesting him and feeling sorry for him.
Charlie -
Delete"I go back and forth between detesting him and feeling sorry for him."
Would it be so awful to take a balanced approach? Can't you pity AND detest him?
If you insist on one response to Mittens and you want to crowdsource your decision, I say you can never go wrong detesting him.
Re-Elect George W. Bush!
Vote Mittens2012!
How he made his money is easy.
Delete1. Start a private equity firm using $$$ from your rich parents and their rich friends.
2. Hire a smart lawyer and accountant to help you figure out loopholes then hire some other smart people to figure out what companies are vulnerable.
3. Take credit.
O/T I'm watching the end of the Tour de France.
ReplyDeleteIn 1988, I along with cousins were in Paris for 2 days and it happened to be the last day of the race. We had absolutely no idea about the race happening when we made plans. It was only when we walked up the street on the day we arrived and everything was set up that we realized. Duh!!! Have to say though, to watch it was exciting and to watch it now, reminds me of my few days in Paris!!
That one's gonna leave a mark! I love how it ends with the words "the American Taxpayer" on the screen as the torch is raised. Fantastic DNC ad!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Thurston Howell Rmoney feels about getting his ass kicked from one end of this country to the other? They will really bring the hammer down next week, when the Rmoneys travel to London.
Obama 2012!
He can run, but he can't hide!

I love the ad, having Mitt speak in French is perfect. I bet he eats "freedom fries" and "Freedom Toast"!, the traitor.
ReplyDeleteWhat's great about running ads against Romney, is you have a long history of him being on either side of any particular issue, or trying ineffectively, to keep information away from the public.
