Oh, well good to finally have a label for it.

By the way, though this might be the most accurate definition for my particular fetish, it still sort of has to also include the female parts.

I guess I would be more of a hetero-sapiosexual.

Nothing more attractive than a smart woman who is not trying to act dumb in some media instructed methodology to attract men.

Well, they say the brain is the most sexual organ . . . .

Hey, I'm a straight woman of a certain age, and Alex Wagner is HOT and smart. A combination that I find attractive in Rachel Maddow as well.

  3. I recall a study came out several years back that said intelligent women were better in bed. It turns out that there are many ways one can apply knowledge.

I'm not sure the same thing applies to men - too little blood flowing to the brain.

Gryphen, oh sure, it looks good on paper, but according to some unidentified experts, hetero-sapiosexualphilia is a serious psychological condition shrouded in shame, secrecy and twisted calculus-themed orgy fantasies involving Mayim Bialik and Danica McKellars.

Studies show that hetero-sapiosexualphiliacs have been known to cruelly bring brilliant women to the very edge of carnal release only to stop the proceedings in order to administer a 3 hour long Mensa-approved Standard Intelligence Assessment Evaluation Survey. Few women - even the really really sexxy ones - seem able to maintain their heightened state of arousal while answering endless questions about science, history, world literature and two trains that leave Brussels an hour apart heading towards Paris at different speeds.

There are also documented cases of hetero-sapiosexualphiliacs whispering erotic anagrams to innocent female librarians, math teachers and engineering grad students while many a female "Homework Helper Hotline" volunteer has heard the heavy breathing and rude rhythmic noises while explaining to anonymous callers how to solve second degree univariate polynomial equations. It's just tragic...

But, yeah, smart women are totally awesome!

    1. I stopped reading after Danica McKellars.

      Math whiz hotness.

I always learn something new on IM. I didn't recall who Danica McKellars is, so I looked her up. Wow, it's that woman from that TV show and she was a math major and wrote math books.

Amazing and good for her (and her helping other women too).

  6. Okay, this is good, better than that, very sexy in fact. As with Abo Gato, I've always found Rachel to be sexy, and Jody Foster too, in spite of being a confirmed XY chromosome holder.

But no, I'm not breaking out any Mensa tests at a passionate moment either. Call it "sapio-dar" or whatever, I think I can detect a smart woman easily enough.

Women are attracted to intelligent men, too. I like to listen to a smart guy talk. People wonder why a beautiful, intelligent woman like Elizabeth Harper could be attracted to a short, average looking guy like Dennis Kucinich. It's because he has spent his entire political career working for human rights, fairness and was the first legislator to disagree with the invasion of Iraq. From the beginning he was opposed to it because it was morally wrong. Even later when others started opposing the war because they objected to the loss of our "blood and treasure", Dennis Kucinich was the only one still objected because it was morally wrong. I'd go out with him, too.

I agree with Maria...Gryphen you have great taste. I am a straight woman with a girl crush on Alex and Rachel. Alex is the best new thing at MSNBC, she is wicked smart and has great guests, but you know who is in control. Rachel...what can you say but brilliant, a unique style that starts at the bottom and brings you to the top. Her staff is the best and she never fails to bring some obscure topic to light no one else is covering. You would think that entire take over of small towns in Michigan would get national news....I can't imagine living there under that kind of thumb. Needless to say I think that's why the Obamas are so popular....brains and beauty.

      +1

I'm also gay, so mine is a non-sexual attraction to intelligent women.

Though I like smart guys (and smart gay guys, though, there again, it doesn't mean nor need to be a sexual attraction or connection).

I like smart people, as long as they're not arrogant nor putting me down for not being on their level.

Also, why I love Rachel Maddow. I feel she's not talking down to me, yet she's educating me and talking about things that I and other people should know.

      ?

Umm, people who concern troll about other people's sexuality usually need to look in the mirror. Take a really long, open eyed, good look and ask themselves the same question.

Are any tea republicans or USA taliban Christians really straight when they obsess about gay men, gay sexuality and who else might be gay. It's almost all they talk about: gay, gay, gay, gay and gay. And tax cuts. Oh and austerity for everyone else, after they first talk about gay this, gay that, gay anything, gay everything, more gay, gay, gay, gay, gay.

Enough of them have tripped, falled and banged out of their closet door.

From now on, I'll assume that all tea republican and USA Taliban Christians are gay (or lesbian) based on how much they obsess about everyone else.

OUCH! Well played, Anon938, well played!! A classic schoolyard taunt of faggery! Brilliant and yet also... well, just brilliant! Of course, clever insults like this are always a lot more effective when the target is ALSO a fifth grader, but still...

This is why I love this blog! I always learn something new that helps me win scrabble, jeopardy, or trivial pursuit. Sapiosexual makes sense. Evolution brought us to the homosapian stage, so that's my justification for my "homosaiosexual" girl crush on Rachael, Alex, Liz Warren, Mellissa Harris Perry, and Danica McKellar.
I don't know about the "girl parts" theory, to me, the girl parts and man parts aren't "deal breakers", I just find "Smart" as very attractive, fun, sensual, seductive, stimulating and if they look good and have a sense of humor, then that's the perfect mate!

When I left my first wife (a Swede, not there's anything wrong with that), for my second, a Norwegian (Scandinavian Lutherans-who knows?), my mother asked me what I saw in her.

I said, "I think she is the smartest woman I've ever known".

Didn't occur to me for years just what I had said, and maybe the reason my mother never took to her.

It's been...36 years? She's still hanging around. Still makes me laugh. And still the smartest woman I've ever known. Smart lasts, and only gets better.

I knew I didn't lose my time studying physics up to the doctorate level... despite what bimbos and their worshippers were telling me.

I only became a highschool teacher. I got pregnant during my 3rd and final year of research - and then all ideas of getting the diploma were squashed by the male elders. And there was a child to feed...

But I'm hot to sapiosexuals ! Yay !

Ok, yea, her brain is sexy. But she's SO HOT anyway. Would we be as attracted to a fugly smart woman? She's cute as hell and smart. Sounds like sexual-sexual to me.
