Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
Tripp is sooo protective of his momma. Remember when he got mad at Mark Ballas for dancing with her? LOL He had the same reaction to Gino horsing around.
When I was 6, I walked on in my parents having sex. I walked over and pushed my dad away. That makes me guffaw when I think about it. But it's typical for kids. Tripp protects people. He protected Trig at the Bounce house when another kid was being rough. Little stud that Trippster is.
My young nephew asked me why I called myself a "militant atheist" -- here's why, I wrote, when I sent him your post.
Fundamentalists seem to think they have "god-given" rights to smite down disbelievers. How many states prohibit "atheists" from running for public office? This is how witch hunts start.
The next civil/human right will be: A moral person does NOT have to be religious. Blacks fought, women fought, gays fought. Now it's the atheists turn to fight for OUR rights.
I guess that means he would fight with all three middle eastern religions, then. They stifle like crazy! Blind doctrine and dogma only create confusion and loss of faith except by the people too afraid to question and DESPERATELY in need of someone to tell them what to do. And the HATRED coming from them scares me to death!

Me, too, Gryphen, me, too.
People seem crazed right now. Just heard that a new NYTime poll says President Obama has lost points in how many people approve of his policies, that Bain doesn't matter to most people (if they even know about it). WTF is going on? They say the race is a dead heat. How can any sane person vote for the GOTP, knowing the failed theories of austerity and favoring the rich are proving disastrous around the world, and that eight years of these policies did not work here under Bush-Cheney. Good freaking grief.
I guess I understand why Texas wants to end critical thinking skills being taught in school. They want us to enter what one comedian called "The Age of Endarkenment." (I believe it was Colbert.)
OT: "Off the Cliff" Lawrence O'Donnell. Put it on a button and put it on a bumper sticker. All Dems need to take this stand and get rid of Grover Norquist. If Grover wants pledges let him run the Labor Day telethon.
To show how far we have fallen, Robert Ingersoll, "The Great AGnostic," was, I believe, a Republican candidate for the vice presidency at one point. Today, I don't think Richard Nixon could get the backing of the Republican Party: "What? A Quaker?"
Thanks, Gryphen. I looked over his website and love the quotes page, it reveals his brilliance. But the entire site is a pleasure to read. http://www.robertgreeningersoll.org/quotes.htm
"If a man would follow, today, the teachings of the Old Testament, he would be a criminal. If he would follow strictly the teachings of the New, he would be insane.
I found it interesting that he and Walt Whitman were good friends.
I looked over the page of quotes on his site, and found a sampling of what made him "Tick". I was also pleased to read he was close friends with Walt Whitman. Can't wait to read more about him.

What a wise man, I'll have to look him up today.

Good Morning, Gryphen... it is good to wake up and feel validated in one's convictions.

ReplyDeleteIngersoll had (has) it right.
ReplyDeleteThank you G. I have never heard of Ingersoll before but will look him up. A very astute observation.
