Perhaps we should have let NASA be in charge of coverage for the Olympics!

You know I am usually a big fan of NBC, but they really screwed the pooch with their Olympic coverage. I missed just about every event I was interested in, and saw WAY too much of snooze worthy events like badminton, dressage, and water polo. God I hate water polo!

By the way if you want to see something really cool watch this simulation of Curiosity's landing with the sound from NASA'a control room during the actual event. How awesome was that?

I think it's about time to talk about increasing NASA'a budget don't you?

I finally stopped trying to watch NBC at all. ABC used to do so well, and with ONE channel. We saw the important live events, no matter what tine it was locally, and if two thigns were happening at once, we saw the second one as nearly live as they could make it. Jim McKay was awesome, and we knew more about other countries than we could imagine. NBC has been worthless, in my opinion. And I don't care how many events they are 'streaming,' I can't get access and I want to watch on my TV with my family, not on a tiny computer screen. FAIL, NBC. Massive fail.

Indeed we should have let NASA take over the Olympics, Or at least the Salt Lake City Olympics, NASA'a total cost for the Mars mission 2.5 Billion, Mitt Romneys total cost for the Utah Olympics 4.3 Billion.

Agree about the delayed coverage of Olympic events. Waiting til late afternoon and evening to watch my preferred competitions, knowing it wasn't "live", took away the excitement for me, and we would hear the results on the news before seeing the performances.

I totally agree with you guys.....NBC sucks big time. The only events worth watching were on the web and omg....the commercials are NEVERENDING!!!!! I pay a fortune for premium channels as I hate all this advertising on TV, and the web just keeps getting worse. Between the olympics and politics Madison ave and the networks are making a fortune, only in America. That Robme ad using the olympic stars thanking him....makes me ill, I guess they don't read either. The only good thing today...seems everyone is pushing for Palin to take the stage at the convention, now that is good news! The circus is coming to town and we have ringside seats.

Here's a video from JPL which shows the reaction of JPL people during the landing.

I have followed you ever since Palin was added as the VP candidate. Totally with you on the Trig story. This anti-water polo post pisses me off though. I think you should keep your ignorance of a sport to yourself. These athletes dedicate a large portion of their lives to becoming so great at whatever sport they excel in to the point of being Olympians, so don't label what they do as "boring" just because you do not understand it.

I don't really "get" fencing or wrestling, but the nuances of those sports are fascinating to the people who are informed about them. Water polo, BTW, is one of the toughest sports there is. What a stupid comment to make about Olympic athletes who are playing their hearts out. I expected more from you. This makes me question your judgement on other posts now too. After all, blogging is so strenuous! No medals for you.

Your graphic says it all! And I've never been so disappointed with the coverage NBC has done with the olympics. I know they have bills to pay, but the commercials are overkill, and the coverage is spotty at best.
