I am so angry with Congress I want to spit.
Unemployment is over 8 percent, and President Obama has proposed a jobs bill with pro-growth policies that Republicans used to support, back when they were a sane party.
Today's Republicans? They refuse to act.
And now, after a solid few weeks of doing nothing, they're adjourning Congress until after the election!
Why exactly did we put them there in the first place?
Our executive branch has offered a grand bargain on cuts, reforms and revenues - the type of ambitious, bold agenda our country desperately needs.
But our legislative branch won't even consider it. The tea partiers won't consider giving up a dime - not one dime! - in tax revenue, even in exchange for billions in cuts and reforms.
They won't consider the American Jobs Act. The Violence Against Women Act. Tax cuts for working families. The farm bill. The list goes on and on.
Congress has a 12% approval rating right now - and it seems like they're aiming for a lot less. The Republicans refuse to consider that maybe, just maybe, Americans want to see action and compromise and progress rather than this political doublespeak and nonsense.
Yes, Democrats are not perfect. But this proud-obstruction-at-all costs is all on the Republican Party. If Mitt Romney loses in a landslide, I can just hear it now -- the Republican Party will blame him alone.
You ever think that your policies might be the problem?
Oh yeah, that's the stuff.
This is like political phone sex to the progressives, and we need to start hearing MUCH more of this kind of talk from our politicians.
I totally agree that we will never solve our country's problems with these poorly educated dimbulbs blocking every program put forward by the grownups in Washington. They call themselves patriots, while they do every treasonous act that they can think of to derail our government and keep its citizens from receiving the help that they need during these trying times.
Perhaps we can test them the way they did witches back when the conservatives were in charge the LAST time. We can toss them into Potomac River, if they float we stone them to death as heretics, and if they sink we tell each other they were one of the good ones and mourn their passing.
After all aren't they always bragging about how this country was based on Christian principles?
P.S. Of course I'm only kidding. Drowning members of Congress is bad. Probably. No, no it's bad I'm pretty sure about that. Well kinda sure.

The strangest story in the news today might be a once-obscure governor from Alaska claiming it impossible that an obscure, anti-Muslim film trailer could spark riots in the Middle East.
ReplyDeleteHas half-term, former 49th state Gov. Sarah Palin been so overwhelmed by her new-found status as national talking head and celebrity politician that she's forgotten where from she came? Has her brain been wiped of the years, not all that long ago, when she served in the almost inconsequential job of mayor of Wasilla before the unsuccessful bid for Alaska lieutenant governor? Has she lost sight of how little time she actually spent as Alaska governor before the earth shifted?
If so, maybe she should Google the phrase, "plucked Palin from obscurity."

Great Smackdown of the Alaskan dipstick by Alaska Dispatch. Can't blame the east coast liberal elite newspapers, this is her own turf!!
DeleteThat cacophony you hear is cans hitting the fridge.
Shotgun is too merciful.
ReplyDeletehanging is too good.
Drowning too uncertain.
poison is too slow...
To snuff this poor old widow's son whose time has come to go. (7 Walkers)
RIP GOP.
I think Boehner, Cantor and Ryan (members of Congress)should be hung from the rafters. They are NOT doing their respective jobs and yet continue to collect paychecks, outstanding benefits and are getting individually rich due to have the inside track on financial information which relates to a stock purchase and sell advantage.
ReplyDeleteI physically want to go after each one of them, slap them across their smirky faces and assuredly verbally abuse each Republican in the House of Congress.
They are the poorest excuses for politicians we have seen in our lifetime. Do NOT elect Romney and Ryan and get out the vote to mark ballots for President Obama and VP Biden.
Republicans/Tea Baggers need to be voted out of office across the nation - city, state and local levels.
FUCK THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS!
Yes!
DeleteIf the opposite of pro is con, the opposite of progress is congress - anonymous
The Democrats simply need to list the facts.
ReplyDeleteThey don't need to be nasty about it, but they need to be firm.
President Barack Obama needs to list his accomplishments - a few at a time - in a series of commercials - along with his attempts that have been blocked by Republican House and Senate members.
And the Democrats need to get out and VOTE.
Did you see the video of JG from 1979 when she was on the Dating Game? Cutie!
ReplyDeleteyes, and great cleavage!
DeleteShe was 21, and with the exception of the hairdo, she still looks as beautiful.
DeleteNow compare her to Sarah- she's almost as ugly as Jan Brewer, but not by much.
DON'T LET THE 1% BUY THE ELECTION!
ReplyDeleteAh hell, LUST after her; who’s counting?
ReplyDeleteA liberal looker with the style of a tent preacher.
She, and Elizabeth Warren, are anti-Palin balm, sorely needed to heal and rejuvenate the sane in this country. We've been subjected to the loudest and shrillest voice of the Quitter Queen for too long; like sharp nails on a chalkboard, she's an irritation and a distraction. Moving forward we need to all beat this same drum to drown out that crazy bitch. Contact your Republican Rep and ask them why they are refusing to do the job they were elected to do.
ReplyDeleteAs is their way, lying is the only way to get (re)elected:

Fuck that!
Jennifer Granholm is fantastic. It is an enormous tragedy that she wasn't born in the US and is therefore not eligible to run for President.
ReplyDeleteThere are many worthwhile ways to be a positive force in the US - without being President - which is where Gov Granholm is head and shoulders above others who throw tantrums when they are not presented with their "heart's desire".
Delete"Deep feelings of admiration". I'll have to keep that line in mind.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to give her some deep feelings.
Remember how, while campaigning in 2010, the GOP kept talking about jobs. Well, not one job creation bill or employment stimulation bill was put forth by the current GOP House of Representatives. Not one. Instead they launched their absurd war on women, that they now claim does not exist. For anyone who wants to see how completely traitorous the current GOP majority in the House of Representatives is, go to "www.republicanjobcreation.com" and you will see what they failed to accomplish day after day. Oh, and on top of everything else, they have sat in the House being paid generously by us "we, the people," in salary and benefits. The unmitigated gall of the GOP!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for purging Congress of all GOP members this November! Let's send them home so they can look for jobs for themselves.
Obama/Biden 2012

Great Post! I love this woman's vibrant enthusiasm, I can imagine her pumping her fists in the air while delivering these lines. Her show on Current TV is as good as Rachel on MSNBC.
ReplyDeleteI'd love for David Letteman to do one of his "Will it Float?" segments with Congress (with rubber ducky swim rings, nostril pinchers, swim boards and those nifty rubber caps- safety first!). Not sure if Boehner would be a good candidate, that spray tan stuff may be toxic to fish.
Nancy Pelosi was on CNN, determined to get a democratic majority in the house, what a boost that would be!
