In dueling campaign stops, both President Obama and Mitt Romney speak to the masses. Well actually only ONE was speaking to any "masses." Update!

Courtesy of Pilot Online:

The economy won't ever recover with President Barack Obama in office, Mitt Romney told a crowd this afternoon in rural Pungo.

"He doesn't have a plan," Romney said to cheers. "He doesn't have any ideas. We've got to make sure he doesn't have any more days in office after January."

He spoke to several hundred people who had gathered hours earlier in an aircraft hangar to hear the Republican presidential nominee.

Oh, he spoke to "several hundred people," well that's a nice size crowd. Don't you think? (Update: Okay WTF? What you see above is EXACTLY what was written at Pilot Online when I cut and pasted it for this post, however NOW the number of attendees has been changed to "more than 2,800." Look I don't want to throw around accusations, but something does not smell right here. See below for a screenshot of the original article.)

I'm sorry, HOW MANY people came to see the President today?

Photo courtesy of the Obama Diary.
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Hoping to blunt any momentum his rival has picked up in Florida since the GOP convention, Obama opened his bus trip in the Interstate 4 corridor, which cuts through the center of the the state from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic, with a rally for 11,000 in St. Petersburg, not far from Tampa. Obama’s 30-minute speech closely tracked his nomination acceptance speech Thursday in Charlotte.

Oh, 11,0000 huh? That's kind of a lot.

I mean that is if you consider the number of supporters an important factor in determining who gets elec...yeah Mitt Romney's fucked!

(H/T to Politicususa.)

Update: Here is the screenshot of the Pilot Online article when I originally linked to it.

Also worth noting is that the byline has been changed from Mike Hixenbaugh to Sarah Hutchins.  Apparently SOMEBODY did not like the information contained in the original story.

So THIS is how it's going to play out this election cycle is it? Everybody needs to be aware that shit like this is happening.

Several hundred? Romeny's crowd looks like about 50 people. Bwahahaha!

I hope we give the republican's a shellacking this November. It would do my heart good!

Did he have to issue them 'free stuff' too, like he did the college students? I think the only way Mitt will have any signs anywhere is if he plants them himself by the roadways. I'd have some sympathy, but as the GOP wants to F*** us all, especially we women, I'll just let him and Paulie boy pretend they have a chance to ruin this country come January. As I have been saying. 40 multimillionare donors is still only 40 votes. This could be a bigger landslide than last time...not one like Liar Sarah, but TWO!

Just four weeks after he appeared in the heart of downtown Norfolk to announce his running mate, Mitt Romney returned to Hampton Roads on Saturday. This time, he made his pitch to be president in a surprisingly pastoral setting.

More than 2,800 people inched down a rural two-line stretch of Princess Anne Road to get to the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo. By mid-morning, several hours before the Republican nominee was scheduled to appear, vehicles were parked in two-deep rows in a large grassy field near the museum hangar.

    6. I too saw the original article and laughed at the pitiful attendance at Romney's appearance. What I didn't see is the white-out and rewrite of the article. Thank you for that, Gryphen. It is very important to hold the medias's feet to the fire on reporting the facts, not spin. Just watched David Gregory lob softballs at the Romneys. No follow-up questions. All questions were approved and the answers rehearsed.

  8. Gryphen, this is definitely off topic, but I thought it'd amuse both you and the rest of the IMers.

Do you ever watch the Food Network cable channel? There's a program currently about 1/3 through its season called "The Great Food Truck Race" with chef Tyler Florence hosting.

The winning team's prize is the food truck they're using to compete.

One of the remaining teams is "Mama Grizzly's Grub" out of Wasilla, Alaska. Nice to know some folks in Wasilla can cook!

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/mommas-grizzly-grub/index.html

What's really funny is that when you listen to them talk, they sound JUST like Bristol and Willow and their friends, like the two girls did in that awful reality show "Life's a Tripp".

I don't mean to give the Palin clan any ideas, but they COULD enter a Food Network competition -- like "Worst Cooks In America".

Of course then the real reality would set in. Palins? Cook? The show would be nothing but puzzled Palins milling around the "kitchen room" wondering what the appliances do and how to hook them up to the internet so the food be be delivered to them.

This is a repeat of 2008.

Romney is the same as McCain. Tanked when they stumped on their own. Drew more when they stumped with their stunned wingmen.

Remember -- the majority of stump stops for McCain was with Palin. The same is happening with Romney & Ryan. It's the only way to make it appear they're drawing people. Ann -- call it what it is -- a joke. The majority of time she too is with Romney, just like Cindy McCain as she rarely gave speeches.

Flotus, Potus & Joe can all stump on their own and draw thousands -- all by themselves.

  11. Look, if Romney wants to have an intimate event for a few hundred people inside an airplane hanger, that's fine. President Obama has held small, focused events.

But there is VIDEO of the event online at politicusa and it shows the hundreds of attendees. So to deliberately lie and scrub an article and inflate that to 2800? That's just low-rent. That's pathetic. That shows that the Romney campaign can't tell the truth about anything, no matter how insignificant.

During the primary season, photographers were not allowed to show the whole empty space where Mitt was talking. The last time they did that was in Detroit and it must have infuriated him. What they show is close up to the platform and the people in attendance bunched close in.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/08/1129264/-Politico-in-All-out-MELTDOWN-Over-DNC-Convention

I'm so glad others are bringing this out into the spotlight. When I clicked on Politico the day after Obama's speech, and saw that virtually EVERYTHING they had up was a negative Obama headline, I was stunned by how blantant they were being.

It's like they decided to say "to hell with even trying to pretend to be subtle, let's go all out with our agenda!"

I did not know that the guy who runs it worked as Reagan's Chief of Staff.

It explains a lot, and it really is perverted, because the mass media uses Politico as a source a lot, as if they are an unbiased news presenting source.

If you could do a post on this, and bring more attention to it, it would be great.

Bill Maher, just slapped Politico's editor, Jim VandeHei, down on Real Time last night. Jim started in with the false equivalency bs.

I always knew Jim was a hack, though. Joe Scarborough mentioned that he's always emailing & talking to him, so it's clear that they're likeminded. Jim almost always carries Republican water when he makes tv appearances.

Partners in Extremism - DNC Destroys Romney Over "I Want Steve King as My Partner"

Yesterday, while speaking at Northwestern College in Iowa, Mitt Romney pointed to Rep. Steve King and proclaimed, This man needs to be your Congressman again – and I want him as my partner in Washington, D.C.

While campaigning in Florida on Saturday, the president stopped in at Gator Dockside, a Florida sports bar that boasts 19 big-screen televisions and 15 chicken-wing sauces. After grabbing a beer, shaking hands, and leading a chorus in singing “Happy Birthday,” Obama met someone from his home state.

"My young son," a woman said to the president, pointing across the table and conferring further with Obama.

"He's a Hawaiian!" Obama exclaimed, looking up to face Andre Wupperman, who now lives in Orlando and will turn 7 next week, according to pool reporters.

"Do you know how to do a shaka?" he asked, making the Hawaiian gesture with his thumb and pinky finger.

"You were born in Hawaii?" he asked the child next, then pointed at him. "Do you have a birth certificate?"

Romney Pulls a Palin at a NASCAR Race!

Mittens spent the afternoon desperately trying to act like a guy you'd like to have a non-alcoholic beer, handing out FREE hot dogs at a NASCAR race in Richmond, Virginia.

If you remember. earlier this year, Romney really screwed up, insulting working class NASCAR fans by making fun of their poor rain jackets and saying he didn't follow NASCAR but had dear friends who owned NASCAR racing teams.

A competent campaign staff, knowing Mittens is genetically gaffe prone ("My dad was brainwashed in Viet Nam") and unable to interact with regular people would keep Romney away from the public, but these clowns (no offense to Bozos) never learn.

So today they trotted Mittens out to a NASCAR event for the sequel: Gaffe Theft Auto II.

He was asked who was his favorite NASCAR driver, and he replied, ..... wait for it.... "I've got a lot of drivers I like. Thanks."

You could here the echo of Palin saying, "all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years", when she as asked what newspapers do you read.

If you are going to show up to a baseball game or football game, you can expect someone to ask you, what is your favorite team, who is your favorite player. It's basic. And yet, they couldn't even prep Mittens for this.

And even if you don't know a single thing about NASCAR, you could have answered Danica Patrick. How could he not know about her!?!?!?!? She's ubiquitous with her Super Bowl ads and various interviews.

President Obama was schmoozing his way around the sports bar Gator’s Dockside, chatting up families and posing for photos as part of his campaign bus tour of Florida on Saturday night, when he stopped at a table of 10 people, including several children.

“He was born in Hawaii,” one woman said, pointing to a blond boy down the table.

The president lit up and flashed the Hawaiian shaka hand sign, which the boy — Andre Wupperman, who will be 7 next week — returned.

“You were born in Hawaii?” Mr. Obama asked, then broke out into a smile. “You have a birth certificate?”

Romney can NOT win if he loses Ohio. That's a lie. In order to win without OH, he needs to win, WI, VA, FL and NC -- and of those, he's probably only going to win NC (and even that might be in doubt). Then, I think, he'd need to win IA, NV, NH and CO and Obama has some pretty tidy leads in those states. Or, basically, he needs to sweep the remaining "swing states."

This is like in 2008, when the pundits kept talking about PA being a swing state -- when, in reality, Obama was ahead by ten points.

I don't mind the media pretending that Romney has a chance, though. This'll help get all our progressive friends out to vote.

Besides, he knows we're here. Don'tcha Uncle Gryph?

I read Uncle G's posts about Obama/Romney all the time Sarah.

Life is not always about Sarah Palin, her dysfunctional children and her perverted pimp husband who refuses to address Shailey Tripp's allegations.

Get over it Sarah and move on!

I don't read Gryphen's blog for the number of comments, I read Gryphen's blog for the posts he does. The links and opinions IM'ers give just reinforce the facts Gryphen exposes.

I found "Waldo" right away in Romney's photo!

This stuff reminds me of the doctored photos Fox used, where the leaves on the trees give away different seasons.

Did anyone catch Romney on "Meet the Press"? They couldn't find an audience, so they did it on a roof surrounded by red white and blue bunting and a huge Romney sign. Waldo didn't say much of substance except that he knows the economy because he lived in the economy. WTF???

Whenever I see crowds at a Romney event, they look bored, tired, drunk, or some combination of the three. Does he bus them in?

The crowds at President Obama's events? Huge, enthused, and fired up!

The Crowds at the DNC were on the edge of their seats, listening to every word every single speaker spoke. They were fully engaged and cheering for their candidate

The RNC paled by comparison. They tolerated Romney and were mostly interested in dissing their President.

Their Twitter "audiences" also say a lot. Mitt has less than 1.1M Followers. Obama has more than 19.5M and is gaining at a rate much faster, increasing his lead.

The two conventions also say a lot. See this UK Guardian piece: http://t.co/32DCKdWA "Two Conventions, Two Americas"...anger from the GOP and abiding hope from the Dems.

Finally, if Mitt can't run a competent campaign, or even an honest one, how can anyone think he'd be a good President?
