The words that will drive a final stake through the heart of the Mitt Romney campaign: “I want to assure you we will bring their killers to justice.”

Courtesy of the LA Times:

Speaking at a raucous campaign rally in Las Vegas, President Obama vowed to seek justice for those responsible for killing diplomats in an attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya and issued a stern warning to enemies of the United States.

“We want to send a message to all around the world who would do us harm. No act of violence will shake the resolve of the United States of America,” Obama said to a cheering crowd estimated at 8,000 people. “I want to assure you we will bring their killers to justice.”

And with these words Barack Obama reminds the American people that the job of the President requires FAR more skill, courage, and competence than ever displayed by Mitt Romney.

During this entire campaign the Republicans have worked overtime to make it about one single issue, jobs.  Romney surrogates have twisted themselves into veritable pretzels in the attempts to constantly move the subject back to jobs, regardless of what questions are thrown at them, and then pound home the myth that Romney is the ONLY one who can increase job growth in this country.

Personally I have NEVER bought into that argument, but it has worked to some degree simply through constant repetition and with the help of a sluggish recovery.

However with these attacks, and Mitt the Twit's incredibly incompetent response to them, the focus has now shifted away from the ONLY talking point that the Romney campaign had to work with and back to those Presidential job responsibilities that he is woefully ill equipped to handle.

Because like or or don't, when it comes to keeping our country safe and dealing with terrorists, President Obama has wrestled the wheel out of the hands of the incompetent administration that came before his, and is in complete, and competent control of protecting the American people.

In other words the death of Romney's presidential aspirations will forever be tied to the untimely death of our brave Ambassador to Libya.

A death, by the way, that our President has just assured the American people he will avenge. And if his  past performance is any indication, then I take him at his word.

  2. I see the pain in our president's face because he has empathy and compassion for the families that have lost loved ones who were serving our country.

But I also see a steely resolve to do the right thing for all of us, and I want to help him succeed, because I believe he has the best interests of our nation in his heart. I think he carries the burden of our country on his shoulders, but I believe his first concern is his family, and I admire him for that.

We as families in this country can all share the benefits of his commitment he has to making this country a better place to live for his wife and two young daughters.

Stevens was truly one of the good guys. And Libyans loved him, which is why they tried to save him after he was hit. He gave his life trying to help Libyans be free. It's a tragedy, and all the right can do is point fingers. Just like when Gabby was shot.

It isn't just the neocons, it is also the Egyptian Coptic Christians trying to get the Jews and Arabs to kill one another. That is where the movie thread starts, some asshole Christian fundie from Egypt making a porn flick (that the actors knew nothing about when it came to Islam as the words Muhammad were dubbed in after the film was finished) and funneling it through Youtube where militant Arabs were pointed to it by the coptics.

Now, Gryphen, what was the only "talking point" the GOP had going for it? Surely not foreign policy; the US is more respected now than at any time during the previous two GOP administrations. Surely not the economy; not only did the Bush Administration do it in but the GOP in Congress has blocked or watered down all Congressional attempts to improve it. All of the good things done during the past four years have been done by President Obama despite the obstruction of the other side. I don't think Mitt Romney has ever had a valid "talking point to work with."

The stock markets went through the roof at the mere mention!

What you believe the campaign is about - never is.

Remember -- In 2008, the McCain campaign did not run on the economy - he ran on foreign policy. But the McCain Lehman moment happened on September 15th. He never recovered.

Mittens had Lehman on September 11th. He has been running on the economy and it is now foreign policy. I think Mittens wishes now that he and McCain could flip flop 2008 to 2012 and vice versa.

Mittens will be reminded of that date for the rest of his life as September 11th will be front and centre in the media for every year of the rest of his born days.

His statement was prepared and embargoed because of the Sept 11th truce. He released his statement early so there is no way he can separate those dates in his brain devoid head.

Early Tuesday morning I saw the breaking news story on a replay of the Maddow show. I recalled the 2008 debacle the McCain campaign bungled when the economy crashed. McCain sought political opportunism to disadvantage his opponent.

The real oppirtunity is to demonstrate effective leadership. Romney blew it. When deaths occur, situations escalate, lives are threatened, international crises escalate the public sees the idiot on the sidelines spewing garbage from an alternative reality "apology tour". Reminds me of McCain clinging to "fundamentals of the economy are strong" while the market crashed and banks collapsed.

I remembered during the breaking news that anything may happen to seperate the candidates clearing showing who is the better one.

(Can you imagine the right wing outcry if Obama had said: "I don’t know where he is. I really just don’t spend that much time on him, to be honest with you."??)

The more you see Romney, the more I hear the words of Grover Norquist --

“All we have to do is replace Obama,” Norquist stated. “We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don’t need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don’t need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate.
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become President of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.”

"Also interesting: Americans believe Obama would win in a fistfight with Romney, 58% to 22%."

The Smirking Sociopath: Romney Finds Sick Joy in Using Libya to Attack Obama

When Willard Romney stood before the press and criticized the President after four Americans in Libya were killed, he exuded the Ugly American prototype George W. Bush perfected on the way to earning America a reputation as a bully. The smirk on his face revealed his belief that in the pursuit of political expediency, even blatant disregard for slain Americans was worth appealing to a sick segment of society clamoring to hear him demean an African American President. It is impossible to know what shaped Romney into an arrogant man lusting for wealth and power, but there is reason to believe it is a combination of being born into wealth, his religion, and an innate disconnect from humanity.

Chris Matthews just made an interesting comment. Why hasn't Romney condemned the documentary about Islam and Muslims that started this whole chain of events??
And what I'd like to know is this. Apparently, the man behind this so-called documentary has been outed and identified. Is he somehow connected to the Republican Party or tea party? I think it's a valid point to address. I'm not accusing him of ties to the right-wing nutcases in this country, but I am curious as to his political affiliations, if indeed, he has any. Anyone out there know or have heard something about this??

It would not surprise me one bit if we learned that the anti-Islam film maker was funded by Bain or the GOP. They are that desperate. They were hoping for something like this to happen except it blew up in Romneys face.

    President Obama at his best!

Can't wait to see the heads pop when they hear about Ben Bernake's Quantitative Easing. They've already got their pitchforks sharpened, but they have the aim of Dick Cheney AND Wonkeyed Sarah.

The polls are trending in Obama's favor, Romney's "aggressively shooting himself in the foot"(borrowed from Morning Joe).
Bernake's growing the economy, especially the construction industry, and businesses will hire again because of this decision. The stock market already got a huge boost.

Sarah's going to be even more unhinged!

  40. Of all the things that bother me the most about Obama, it is the *wars* that are the worst.
That was really a Bush era thing. I voted for change.
Real & serious change & on the top of that list was to stop spending gazillions on wars.
Is avenging this act of terror really going to fix or harm things?
I'm sick of wars & their funding is the damned elephant in the room.
If we quit spending on wars, we could begin to recover.

    Enough already!

An eye for en eye makes the whole world blind.
