Today we have an MSNBC twofer. First Rachel Maddow, and then Lawrence O'Donnell, reveal devastatingly damaging videos of Mitt Romney. Get your popcorn kids!

Rachel starts off discussing the video which I posted here last month that showed Mitt Romney talking about taking over a Chinese sweatshop and bragging about the fact that there was barbed wire on the high fences to "keep workers out."  She then goes on to broadcast the newest portion of these same videos which show Mitt Romney making the unbelievably insensitive remarks about Obama supporters.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Now right after Rachel's show, Lawrence O'Donnell came on the air, and during HIS show Mitt Romney held a very uncomfortable press conference in which he tries to explain away the videos. That debacle starts around the 2:32 mark of this segment.

Okay now THAT is not going to help Mitt Romney one little bit. He was clearly upset, did not have a definitive response, and rushed off of the stage like his hair had just caught fire.

Folks I think we are seeing the most impressive flame out of a presidential candidate in American history.

Gee I wonder how the President feels about all of this?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

My dear spouse, who doesn't follow $carah's demise, actually stopped and rewound the $carah part.

He said, "OMG! What is WRONG with her? Is she terminally ill?"

And, no, he wasn't joking. She looks like death warmed over compared to 2008.

Her cheeks look awful. Its probably a combination of unnecessarily losing a bunch of weight-- when older women get down to pin-thin size they really don't look healthy, they need that bit of "fat" on their face to look healthy and even look younger-- and the ridiculous amount of fake-and-bake she puts on herself.
Sarah, between you and me, you were absolutely gorgeous in 2008. No one could believe it. And until you opened your mouth you looked so poised and professional. I don't know what you've done with yourself, but your current go-to meme of "they're just jealous" would have a little more backing if you actually looked nice. I mean, 2004 was NOT that long ago, and you look like you've aged twenty years. You've gone from Maybe She's In her Early Thirties to Oh My, She Really IS a Grandma Isn't She?

What is more important to me than the stupid things Mitt said in the videos, is how he responded to the "crisis". Just like his idiotic comments about recent violence in the mideast, this is a glimpse into what kind of leader he would be.

And just like McCain's reaction to the economic collapse in 2008, it is pure FAIL.

It's interesting how the worst thing that can happen to a Republican candidate is that they are presented with a chance to show what their leadership skills are like...

Actually, you've got it wrong about the President's reaction. I doubt that he minds anything funny in the situation at all. He probably feels saddened that a major political party could nominate someone as out of touch and unqualified to be President. What that says about our politics in this country is sad indeed. And it likely makes the President even more determined to win so that a man as empty and uncaring as Mitt Romney never sits in the Oval Office.

Me, on the other hand - I'm laughing my ass off.

      6:49 you are probably right.

I voted for Obama and will again, but to be totally honest, it's less to do with me thinking Obama is awesome as it is that there is no sane alternative being offered.

I'm generally pretty open-minded and could vote for anyone with good ideas, but this time I will be voting entirely democrat simply to spank the repubs for their infantile behavior, hoping they'll crumble and something reasonable will grow in it's place.

Frankly I'd feel better if these elections actually presented a difficult choice, rather than just being a rational guy versus a compulsively lying, disconnected from humanity idiot.

I'm nearing 70 and four years retired, but worked my entire life and have never taken government income except for Social Security since the age of 65.

Expecting social security benefits paid and for many a deceased spouse paid into us being an entitled moocher? Also defined as not being responsible for yourself? Does Mitt believe no one saves any money for retirement? Is he delusional that only the top 5% has a 401k or an IRA?

I know of staunch republicans who shift their money to adult children so they can take advantage to get stuff for "free". I also know people who are not motivated to bust ass going to school while working full time who get medical benefits for children from the government who are in low paying jobs. I find relatives, not the government enable them to not stand on their own feet. Half the country does not live deluded they are victims, shiftless and total losers.

It should be no surprise that Mitt Romney and the rest of the insanely wealthy elites of the Republican Party have nothing but disdain for the vast majority - more like 85 or 90%, rather than 47% - of the American people.

The agenda the Republican Party has pushed for the past (at least) 30 years has been one of a return to feudalism, of lords and serfs, of princes and paupers... of the very rich vs. the very poor.

The Ruling Class vs. those of us they allow to eat the crumbs that fall from their banquet tables.

My deceased spouse achieved an income in the top 5%. Neither of us were born to wealth and due to an abandoning parent I was raised in poverty. We obtained educations and accomplished the American dream so to speak.

Are my brothers who used ROTC scholorships "victims" , "entitled" to free everything? Are they losers and non tax payers? No

Mitt shot down the belief that America is a land of opportunity. If your parents can't loan you money for college you are lazy, if you can't go buy up foreclosures and renovate them you are a loser parasite of the government. Collecting social security? Two things that Willard said that are going to define the rest of his losing campaign.

These statements are outrageous, and show him to be utterly without compassion and totally out of touch for those of us "middle class" who make less than $250,000 a year.

    Quotes from Mitt the loser:

1)"Forty-seven percent of the country are people “who are dependent upon government, who believe they are victims"

The level of contempt and disdain inherent in that statement is amazing. The really damning thing is when you listen to his tone of voice, it's not a hateful screech like $arah. He is just reciting these things like gospel, like reading a balance sheet, and it's just basic facts to Mitt.

Does Mitt realize that veterans, seniors, and working poor folks have just been SHIT ON by him and his 50,000 dollar a plate fundraiser?

    2) "[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

This is the most insulting comment of all, saying that literally ONE HALF of Americans don't take any personal responsibility or care for our lives.

Does Mitt know that more than 80 percent of Americans pay federal taxes?

46.4 percent don't pay federal income taxes, but 61 percent of those people do pay federal payroll taxes.

Those who don't pay payroll taxes are primarily elderly retirees, many of whom support Romney. Also in that group: the poor and disabled.

Does Mitt know that the states with the MOST people (VICTIMS in his words) are in the South, which comprises the states he has to win?

This video hopefully will kill his chances to win the election, and we should all start putting signs on our front lawns saying "I AM NOT A ROMNEY VICTIM!!"

You know that there are international observers of elections in nations with questionable tactics?
President Carter has served on some of those groups over the years. I seriously think that this nation should be having them, because if their voter suppression tactics are deemed illegal and unjustified, they probably have their back-up plans for vote tampering. How is chain-of-custody maintained? Are early voting letters kept from disappearing? How are computers manipulated? How do any of us know what can be done to alter the outcome? There are too many known examples already, and there will be more.

IT people to the rescue! Please, clue us in!

There seem to be no scruples in the GOP/TP and too many voters still do not realize that they are being played.

TPM has a good post up:
Chart of the Day: These are the 47 percent

Included in the post was something that is being missed in all the discussions:

"In this regard, attacking the 47 percent for gaming the system is an implicit call for taxing Social Security income, taxing disability benefits, further taxing unemployment benefits, and so on."

In 2007, the number was 37%. Because of 2008, there has been an uptick of 10%.

".....should we argue that we should raise taxes on these people to keep it at 37 percent?”

"That’s what a lot of Republicans seem to want. But the result would be terrible for an already weak economy."

IMO this is what Ryan's budget is based on -- raise the taxes on the 'middle class', he just neglects to include but truthfully he avoids saying 'raise the taxes on the 47% -- that being those on social security, disability, unemployment etc. Does that include those in harms way, fighting for us now as they are not required to pay income tax while there and the families are in the US.

Keith Olbermann releases ‘special comment’ about leaked Romney video

Keith Olbermann released a “special comment” last night regarding the now-notorious “47 percent” video.

Mother Jones released a video of a Romney campaign fundraiser Monday evening in which Republican Presidential nominee former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) was caught on tape disparaging the nearly half of the country as “victims” who are “dependent on government” at a fundraiser for wealthy donors. Late Monday evening, Romney hastily arranged a press conference attempting to walk back his remarks.

His statements, Romney said, were “off the cuff” and “not elegantly stated.”

Keith Olbermann, former host of “Countdown with Keith Olberman” on MSNBC and Current TV, released a self-produced “Special Comment” last night addressing this new crisis for the Romney campaign.

“Good evening,” begins Olbermann, “Now, as promised, tonight’s special comment on Gov. Romney’s ’47 percent’ tape and the news that this fundraiser was staged by a man who conducts sex parties on Long Island…”

Blue Liz, I didn't see your impressive musical contribution before posting my own less impressive comment down below. If you can help me with my elusive rhyme, there's a pretty good chance we can save the otherwise doomed - and supremely mockable - Mittens campaign.

Here's a list of "Entitlements" that ALL Americans get through state and Federal governments.

Even Mittens and Ann Romney get these benefits every day:

Public Roads, Air Traffic Control, NOAA Weather, Railroad land grant subsidies, Corps of Engineers navigation projects, universal telephone service, universal postal coverage and countless other things that subsidize commerce come via Government.

Agribusiness gets price supports & often subsidized water. Mining & energy extraction get subsidized access to resources on public lands. Timber & paper products business get subsidies every time they cut a tree on public land as the fees they pay are far below the costs.

Wages earned today by many were possible by an education funded by Federal Grants, Loans or VA benefits. Even tuition paid at state schools is subsidized and all Land Grant schools are the recipients of a massive federal grant.

Children watching Sesame Street benefitted from CPB funds. Food & medicine you consumed today has been tested under USDA & FDA programs designed to keep you from being made sick by them. And don't forget the cleaner water & air we have because of the Clean Air Act & Clean Water Acts.

Many medicines saving lives this day were developed by tax funded research that was given to big Pharma. Sometimes the very Doctor treating you is put there due to a program to extend care to the under served.

He spoke more fluidly than at any stump speech. His stump speeches are his lists of talking points which he's been repeating for months, yet still stumbles over them, yet shouldn't. He should be able to recite the stump speeches in his sleep at this point of time.

He was totally comfortable in his skin speaking what he did at that fundraiser exposing 'his true self'

Once again, Romney's camp is dragging deadwood Bay 'Witch' Buchanan out and in an earlier comment I posted, they dragged out John Sununu on Andrea Mitchell. As Soledad said in the end "“I appreciate your spin on it,” O’Brien concluded. “But I think ‘inarticulately stated’ is the least of the problems.” Ain't that the truth!!!!

Romney adviser Bay Buchanan on Tuesday declared that the release of leaked campaign videos showing the Republican presidential nominee writing off 47 percent of the country as “dependant” and “entitled” was just a “bump in the road.”

“So essentially, didn’t Mitt Romney in these leaked tapes bash his own voters?” O’Brien wondered. “Those are the people who are voting for Mitt Romney.”

“Honey,” Buchanan replied, “He recognized that more and more people are becoming dependant on government.”

The ugly bitch called Soledad 'Honey'. Ooooh I wish Soledad had nailed her on that.

Trump filmed unaired ‘you’re fired’ video with Obama impersonator for RNC

Appearing on NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday, the reality show host and scorned potential Romney running mate confirmed that the Republican Party filmed a 4-minute video of him insulting a man impersonating President Barack Obama. At the end, Trump even deployed his famous catchphrase: “You’re fired.”

There is only a short snippet of the video within the interview with Matt Lauer and Birther Trump who continued the BS 'apology' meme etc. It was also asked of Trump that there was no mention of the name Romney in the video. (That would play into the whole RNC when you think of Christie, etc. when they were there to 're-etch-a-sketch' their candidate but so many spoke of themselves!!!)

Of course the videos are responses to Monday's 'bomb drop' and Mother Jones has the new one on Israel, Iran & Obama's foreign policy.

Busy times!!!! It's almost info overload which is why IMO Mother Jones should release segments every 2 to 3 days so people can catch up, discuss and best of all -- stretch it out to the dabate in 2 weeks!!

He wants to run this country like Bain which translates into money for his buddies...the rest of us are doomed. He has to be the absolute most despicable human being in America let along trying to be president. Lord Robme and Lady Ann need to join Lyin Ryan in a long life out of government just enjoying their wealth in private.

Gryphen, I know I promised to get you a final MP3 copy of my Rmoney campaign anthem entitled "Thank The Lord, He Gave Us Mittens". With all the relentless stumbling, bumbling and fumbling of the once semi-mighty Mitten election machine, I seriously believe only a great campaign song can restore any hopes of a Mittens victory.

As to why it's taking longer than I expected to put this together, I guess the late Marvin Hamlisch and the early Gene Simmons made songwriting look a lot easier than it really is. I mean, I have the tune down pretty solid - think along the lines of "Frere Jacques" in G minor - and the arrangement is basically piano, drums, bass guitar, oboe, glockenspiel, hammer dulcimer, Bolivian sheep tail rattle and a really tight nine piece R&B horn section out of Kansas City called The Tower of Flour. The backing tracks are essentially done.

I am, unfortunately, having a little trouble with the lyrics, especially the chorus. Maybe you or one of your little librul bolshevik blog buddies can help me out. I've got two of the three rhyming couplets nailed. Rhyming 'loser' and 'poser' was easy but "fuckwad" was a real challenge (I had to settle for 'muckwad. Kinda weak, I know... ). Now I can't seem to find a rhyme for 'douchenozzle'.

There's an old saying in politics: "If you have a lousy candidate you better have a great song". Well, this GOP campaign effort is floundering without a great campaign song and Wednesday, November 7 - Republican Voting Day - is less than 6 weeks away, so please respond ASAP!

Zamfir fronting for the Tower of Flour! And Mitt sings a little ditty!

  45. This is the end of rMoney's campaign. Can't walk that one back. He didn't even TRY at the presser last night! So, like, 47% of Americans do not take responsibility or care for their own lives?? Pretty damning little insight into how fucked up his perspective is.

I believe we're also seeing the end of the gop as we know it. It's a shame, the gop of old actually got some great stuff done. But, as their numbers dwindled and they had to court the "moral majority" fundie xtians and the tea party (one in the same, IMO) they've been pulled so far into the extreme fringe right that they cannot function. Can't lead from a place of fear, xenophobia and greed. Those are regressive traits.

I felt ill after reading Tim Dickinson's article in RS which shows who the ultimate free loader really is and how expensive RMOney's smirking and shirking his financial obligations are costing others.

"In March 1992, according to the FDIC documents, Romney approached the banks and played the bonus card. Allow Bain to pay off its debt at a deep discount, he demanded – just 35 cents on the dollar. Otherwise, the "majority" of the firm's "excess cash" would "be available for the bonus pool to its officers at a vice president level and above."

I was just remembering back to the beginning of the GOTP primary season (feels like it was 20 years ago) and how I thought Romney stood out as the only adult in that room. A despicable adult (after his smarmy "corporations are people, my friend")but, nevertheless an adult. I couldn't figure out how those other clowns were getting any votes Romney just seemed "intelligent" compared to 999Cain,Pope Santorum, the newly minted "moral" Newt, We-can't-believe-she's-not-certifiable Bachman, and Perry "OOPS."

What a difference a few months make. He fits right in in that clown car. Except in the personal hygiene department, I think he out-Palin's Palin and I never thought I would see another idiot like her being nominated in my lifetime.

If the President isn't re-elected, it will be due to vote tampering. And I believe we will have to have mass riots in the streets. They're going to have to bring the National Guard back from overseas. The Civil Rights riots and Viet Nam War protests will seem like nothing. 47% of us have been totally disrespected by this buffoon and his corporate masters. We have to fight back. (And I'm essentially a pacifist; I've never even pushed someone to get through a crowd; I rarely even raise my voice; but I'll be out there at the Liberty Bell screaming my head off on November 7 if they steal this election).

Someone noted earlier how fluently Romney spoke in the video - I noticed that as well. I guess it's because he was among "his people"

Somehow I didn't think I could get more offended by this race and yet Romney managed to do it. After all the attacks on women, voting rights, etc he still managed it. I don't think I am technically part of the 47% he was speaking of - I am employed and pay taxes - but that doesn't matter. I am offended personally and offended on behalf of those 47% (which I was for three months of this year when I was unemployed).

I wonder would he have thought my mother was a part of the "moocher" class when she was unemployed and not paying taxes as she was dying of cancer? Jesus Christ what is wrong with this man? Some people are working 2 or 3 jobs and still fall into this bracket. Are they moochers too?

What an arrogant, entitled spineless excuse for a human being. And his wife "Queen Ann"! She's about as genuine as my plastic coaster. Perfect example of a plastic Stepford wife. Every time she opens her mouth I think we all get a little stupider.

I can't wait for this election to be over I cannot stand these people. We all have to vote and help others - these people can't be trusted with the country!

I think that Romney was merely trying to articulate the fact that tax cut policies do not resonate with voters who pay no taxes to begin with. I feel, though, that some of these voters would do well to think long and hard about tax issues because some of them probably work for companies/bosses who do pay taxes. If taxes go up, for instance, their jobs might be in jeopardy. Just sayin'.
