As expected Mitt Romney's free wheeling fabrication of the facts last night in the debate provided the Obama campaign with tons of ammunition.

This is the kind of advertisement that needs to be seen far and wide, ESPECIALLY in those oh so important swing states.

Of course if the advertisement had attempted to include ALL of Mitt's lies it would have been hours long.

Think Progress identified 27 of them in 38 minutes.

The New York Times is still wading through the marsh of cow dung, but here is one that really bothered me and which many pundits missed:

A number of readers, including Patty Freeman-Lynde from Athens, asked about Mr. Romney’s charge that half the companies invested in under the president’s green energy stimulus have gone out of business.

That is a gross overstatement. Of nearly three dozen recipients of loans under the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program, only three are currently in bankruptcy, although several others are facing financial difficulties.

Another one that really irritated the snot out of me was when Romney completely lied about the fact that corporations  receiving a tax break for sending manufacturing overseas. Not only is that a verifiable fact but we know that if there is a way to have saved money on taxes that Mitt Romney ABSOLUTELY took advantage of it:

Q: Do corporations actually get a tax break for relocating manufacturing overseas? — johng158, New York City Annie Lowrey:

It is true. The tax code currently does allow companies to deduct certain expenses when they move operations overseas. As part of its plan to aid the manufacturing sector and promote job growth, the Obama administration has proposed ending this deduction, and giving tax credits to companies moving jobs back to the United States.

THIS by the way is exactly why we need to get a look at Romeny's taxes.

Which, if my sources are correct, the Obama campaign has had in their possession for months now.

If that is accurate, then it is time for them to be leaked. The sooner, the better.

God I hate liars!

Yes, the debate has given our side lots of ammunition, some of it quite amusing...

I challenge the people disappointed in Obama to tell us exactly how one debates a pathological liar, who will agree with you one minute and call YOU a liar the next. I loved how Romney set this all up, beginning his spiel with how the President is known to not always be factual, and how, "Mr. President, just because you repeat a tale 100 times does not mean I will believe it." In retrospect, the projection is stunning..what did Romney say over and over? "You cut $716 billion from Medicare to fund the ACA." Over and over and over. The GOP us sure that this is the issue they win independents with, but independents are the folks most likely to CHECK on statements before they decide. I do not see this as any kind of game changer for the President, but it may be for Mitt, who showed just how far he is willing to go to win the prize..the USA, ripe for GOP picking.

Sally has made significant points about dealing with a pathalogical liar. When I heard Romney was setting up Obama as THE liar alarms went off. It is characteristic of liars to deny their own words. When anyone cites a liar's conflicting manipulative self serving lies, the liar lies again projecting the person exposing the lies is the liar making things up.

Pathalogical people are capable of moral grand gestures as if they are the most honest person around. Then they will lie feigning sadness and remarkable tolerance or concern for the person they objectify
      with their immoral and despicable

fabrications. The honest person who is not pathalogical, shows appropriate human emotion appears the lesser person, not in control.

These highly manipulative lying personalities lie to 'win', control they get what they want. Romney smiled and chuckled even as he ran over the moderator.

OMG, Gryphen, the Tax Returns?!!! I LOVE October! I was wondering why the "47 percent" tape was released in September, ahead of the debates. I suspected it was so that it wouldn't overshadow the REAL October surprise, which I prayed was the release of the tax returns! Man, way to turn a crappy day into a happy day!

  6. I disagree with those who say the President lost or let Romney walk all over him. I do believe that he was setting Romney up and giving him plenty of rope to hang himself. Romney lies the way the rest of us breathe and grew visibly more excited as he thought he was getting away with whatever he chose to say.

With the result that the press no sooner proclaimed Romney the winner than they started fact-checking and saying wait a minute. Also Romney thoughtfully provided the Obama campaign with all the material they need for immediate and damning ads, which were already being seen this morning.

Romney won? Not with this flurry of headlines from Huffpo's front page:

Romney and Ryan were on Hannity tonight, he was gloating the whole time, but in part two of the interview, 7:44 mark, hannity gives him a chance to explain the "47 percent" comment, Thurston goes on to say that, over a campaign, there are hundreds of speeches and that he was WRONG to say what he did.

In Essence, he's admitting he said it but not apologizing nor owning it.

The whole interview is a bunch of bullshit, but the fact that he's unapologetic speaks volumes. Can't wait for it to come up in the debates, because you know it will!!

Nobody Warned Obama That Romney Might Just Lie
    Alex Balk @ 11:30 am
Here's about the strongest argument you can make for the President's poor showing last night: "Probably the best way to understand Obama’s listless performance is that he was prepared to debate the claims Romney has been making for the entire campaign, and Romney switched up and started making different and utterly bogus ones. Obama, perhaps, was not prepared for that, and he certainly didn’t think quickly enough on his feet to adjust to it."

    Again, a great post.

I can't stand the lies either. It actually makes one feel so helpless, especially when the liar gets away with it and media is too afraid to call it out. I've never known of so many Republican leaders that downright lie, this election cycle. Lie, retract, distort, say outrageous things (Akin), and have absolutely no conscience about what they say. If that is the new way, everyone will suffer because lies put innocent people in harm's way. Lies ruin everything.

Just can't believe how sleazy this man is. He'd throw his grandmother under the bus. Ann Romney did a CNN interview saying how Mitt wrote a little message to his dad just before RNC debates. She was trying to get viewers all teary-eyed and lower their defenses trying to paint him as a sweet old white grandpaw from a Norman Rockwell painting.

I'm getting a feeling that a LOT of Americans are being led to believe that there will be a "President Romney, Incorporated" business created...and that they will all be given SHARES in this enterprise.

So, if Romney is the CEO he claims to be, they will all suddenly get rich! What such naive people do not seem to realize, is that there is NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER to cut them in on any big deals. No real money would ever get made, if divvied up 250,000,000 ways.

No, just like current reality, the small group of VERY rich people, if given further tax breaks, and allowed to savage the environment to make even higher profits, will NOT be redistributing their greater wealth to the common schlubs, even though they voted for Romney and the Republicans.

They really should realize this: they've been instructed to parrot the sayings of their manipulators, for many months now, to the effect that any sort of sharing of wealth is SOCIALISM.

My god, Dennis was practically having a Mitt-gasm on the radio!!!

Did anyone else hear Romney say that Medicare was safe for people over 60? Have the repubs revised the age limit upward again? At what point does it become those over 65? After he said that, he referred to everyone else as the young people. Ultimately, the goal is just to loot the medicare funds and throw seniors off the cliff. No insurance company is going to insure anyone over 65 with premiums they can afford. What about when they hit 80 or 90? Free market will take care of the problem is another way of saying, just die already.

I have been chewing on this since last night....what exactly am I mad about? Nothing can change my mind about Obama...he was a gift given to us to recover from 8 horrible years of Bush. I have watched him and read, so I know what the last 4 years have been like for him, like most of you here...and he has overcome unbelievable hate and obstruction from the GOP. That being said...why was I so mad? It offended me to no end that this lying piece of shit was allowed to insult him and the country without anyone calling him out. He is so damn offensive and to me, his style was of a fast talking used car salesman, a bully...exactly how he must handle his board meetings. The snake oil salesman willing to say anything to make the sale...he is born to that role, not the presidency. This is the CEO of Bain, gleefully sneering when he fires someone or destroys a company for profit. Obama has more class and grace in his pinky than the entire Robme creepy family, money is their god.

Romney broke the rules by sneaking a cheatsheet out of his right trouser pocket at the podium. He kept referring to it throughout the debate and it can been seen clearly via the cameras behind and beside the podiums. The CSPAN debate rules clearly state: "No props, charts, diagrams or other writings, or tangible things may be brought into the debate". After the debate, Mitt went back to the podium to retrieve it, tried to put it in his jacket pocket, then handed it to one of his sons, who put it in his own jacket pocket.

These repugs are all in the good ol boys club. Just like Chafee loaning all that money to Schilling and his company goes bankrupt and the people of RI are left with the bill. Same with Romney liquidating companies pensions, firing people and forcing them into bankruptcy on the taxpayers dime. It's disgusting and Rmoney has the gall to tell people he's a job creator. They are a bunch of crooks who figured out a way to rape and pillage the American economy right under our noses.

I met a young women from Australia and she said that Americans were like a frog in a pot. Never heard this before. If you put a frog in a pot of tepid water and raise the temp slowly it will die without a struggle because it doesn't notice that it's getting hot. If you try to throw it into a boiling pot it will struggle to get out. Americans are getting boiled to death by the 1%! And that's just financial don't get me started on the scary social issues that are being attacked in the land of the free!!

Romney's on his victory lap on fox's hannity show.

I heard rumblings from someone who works at our OFA phone banks about Romney's tax records, but she couldn't tell me a source nor a link to where she got the information. It was months before Reid's comments, reading that you have heard the same thing makes me hope it turns out to be true. I wonder if it's someone on McCain's team that leaked them, as revenge for his covering up and supporting that bimbo from wasilla?

    Damn I hate liars!

The difference between President Obama and Mitt Romney is in ONE GRAPHIC PORTRAIT

On Thursday, during a campaign stop in Springfield, Virginia, Mitt Romney forcefully backed (and even expanded upon) his now infamous Sesame Street comments made at last night's debate.

In a speech handlers dubbed "My America," Romney addressed a crowd of 130, echoing the same fiery tones he showed off in Denver:

'Last night I said that, while I love Big Bird, it's time that the government stop spending money we don't have on things like public television.'

'Now, I meant it last night, and I mean it today! So I say to Big Bird: it's time to learn to fly on your own!'

Romney then went on – with the crowd chanting "U.S.A." – to expand on his Sesame Street theme, seizing on his new-found momentum.

"And it's not just Big Bird. You can be sure that in my America, Burt and Ernie won't be allowed to marry!" Romney said to a roaring crowd.

Inspired by the cheering, Romney went off-script and spontaneously addressed a host of Sesame Street characters that would ostensibly be targeted in a Romney administration:

"And Oscar, getting handouts and eating what others personally toss his way while living in a government-provided cylinder? No more free rides or public housing in my America!

"Then there's Kermit and Elmo, allowed to roam naked in Obama's heathen world of extremist liberal values. I won't allow frogs and red, unidentifiable fluffy things to treat our great neighborhoods like nudist colonies in my America!

"What about Snuffleupagus, or 'Snuffy?' High all the time and ignored by overpaid police who turn a blind eye? No sir, not in my America! It's time to invest even more in the drug war and sweep all of Obama's trash off the streets.

"Oh, and that Cookie Monster? Taking advantage of free drug treatment sessions for that sugar addiction of his keeping him out of work, only to run and spend Welfare checks on Oreos and Vanilla Wafers? There won't be any Cookie Monsters dragging down our country in my America!

While Romney's comments excited the raucous crowd in Virginia, it remains to be seen how they will play out as Big Bird and PBS become a focal point the day after Denver's debate.

No, this type of attention is not exactly what the Romney campaign had in mind.
