Sometimes we need a reminder that the Obama/Biden ticket is not JUST about the President.

From Facebook:

“I had this impulse to hug him, so I did. And I cried. I think I even got tears on the Vice President’s suit jacket! … I am hugging the man who will help me and help our President move forward.” — Kobe Standing at the back of a packed high school gym as Vice President Biden finished speaking in Ft. Myers, Florida, on Saturday was 15-year-old Kobe Groce. He cradled a “Forward” sign, hoping to get the Vice President to sign it for his brother, Kaelin.

After unsuccessfully trying to make it to the front of the event, a staff member asked if he could help. Kobe told his story, and the staffer left for a moment and came back, saying simply: “The Vice President would like to meet you.”

The President is not the only one with heart.

  1. Joe Biden, and his wife Jill, are wonderful, quiet heroes. He learned suffering the hard way, and has turned it into great compassion for others. VP is kind of a quiet, background role, but Joe is doing a great job.

I agree 100%. I think that Joe Biden has been an exemplary vice president. Effective, in the background and supportive of the president. Just what a vice president should be. We had enough of a Darth Vader vice presidency with Dick Cheney for 8 years. We need 4 more years of Team Obama/Biden!

I love Joe Biden. Obama's pick of Joe for his running mate in 2008 clinched it for me. Looking forward to the VP debate next week. The President chose to remain presidential (possibly from the shock of hearing so many blatant lies from Romney), but I don't expect Joe Biden to be so kind.

Actually "hug ability" might be a good barometer to help decide whom to vote for.
Romney hugs like a cardboard reflection.
Ryan doesn't. ....Truthfully, nobody's ever asked.

I have always loved Joe! I've cringed at times, but that never detracted from the heart of this man. Now I'm sitting at my desk with tears running down my cheeks!

I look so forward to hearing Biden; he's sincere and funny no matter the occasional "gaffe". He's human. He can relate to Americans' sorrow, hard times, fear while children are in the military, working peoples', jobs, job loss, etc. He admits his shortcomings and mistakes. It's always been about family for him, and he used to quietly ride mass transit to work everyday.

Somehow I can't picture Lyin' Ryan hugging a white boy, let alone a black one. And Mitt hugs his grandchildren, but can barely be bothered to shake hands with 'you people.'
I'm thinking that Mitt's big performance last night was for the benefit fot those backers who were walking away. He had to lie for his life, and he did. I think the President was so stunned that this man would stand there and repeat nonsense for 45 minutes he couldn't even begin to respond. And Lehrer might have not even been there for all Mitt cared. He was a bully, and the GOP likes their bullies. Obama will not be bullied again, and Joe is no pushover. He says what he thinks, has facts at hand, and has been doing this a long time. However, this time, let's try to keep some perspective and not assume the outcome before the event. I think we wanted Obama to come out as a pitbull, but he is not, and he let Romney hang himself. Very neatly in fact.

I think the pugilist in Joe is just aching to come out and mix it up a little with Ryan. Can't wait to see the two Irish guys duke it out, and I'm sure Biden is going to come out on top.

Um, yeah...but they also hug OTHER people, unlike Mittens.

That. Was the point, since you obviously missed it.

Thanks for the picture, Gryphen. It's certainly worth the proverbial 1000 words.

When the President first picked Biden as VP, I was a little disappointed (saw him as an old also-ran with not much charisma) but I thought so highly of Obama that he could have picked anyone (well maybe not Palin) and I wouldn't have had a problem.

But after seeing Joe in the debate when he talked about fathers having feeling too, I was sold. He has been a delight over the past four years and I love seeing Joe and the President together. Their camaraderie is so apparent. Pictures of them together warm my heart. Pictures of R & R or Smirk I & Smirk II, on the other hand, turn my stomach.

Vice President Joe Biden and President Obama are two men you would like to have a beer and pizza with.

They are down to earth and not full of themselves.

i have met both obama and biden...obama in 2006 and biden in 2008. I got a personal autograph from obama and would have had my picture taken but didn't have anyone to take it for me. With biden, he happily took the picture with me, the secret svc taking it...unfortunately because i am short, i only got my forehead in the pic...biden is awesome, ive always liked him...

Thanks, Gryph. My eyeballs are sweating too!

Joe Biden's whole life story is an inspiration, and he's a great asset and friend to President Obama.

I loved when he debated winky, and can't wait to see him give eddie munster the time to explain the math of his plan. Joe's a very patient man and good listener, I'm sure he'd gladly give up his own allotted time to Ryan just to hear him explain the math to us 47 percent goobersmoochers!

Maybe they'll be enough time left over for a reading from Ayn Rand!!!
