The former Penn State assistant football coach convicted of molesting 10 young boys over a 15-year period will be spending 30 to 60 years behind bars, according to Bloomberg News.
Jerry Sandusky was convicted in June of 45 counts of child sex abuse.
Today's sentence means the 68-year-old will conceivably spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Before sentencing the disgraced coach, Judge John Cleland said the case is "a story of betrayal. You abused the trust of those who trusted you," the New York Daily News' Sports I-Team tweeted from the courtroom.
Incredibly Sandusky is arguing to stay out of solitary confinement, which he would undoubtedly be placed into for his protection.
He also denied his guilt in rather bizarre and rambling testimony before his sentencing:
Sandusky said in his statement that he has spent his time in jail meditating, writing, exercising, and reading books about persecution and struggle. He said he has faced "outbursts by troubled inmates" and "special inmates who have smiled at me."
"Somehow, someway, something good will come out of this. These are people I cared about, still do. I used to think of ways to praise them, to help them have fun."
"To my loved ones I want to say, the most difficult part is the pain of separation. Some of the labeling hurts but they don't compare to the pain of their absence," he said.
You know besides the years of molestation inflicted by Catholic priests, and the churches attempts to cover up their crimes, I don't think I can remember a more egregious example of a person, or persons, victimizing children in this manner.
It is just very troubling that Penn State covered for him for all of those years, simply to protect their reputation and continue to win football games. I find that almost impossible to comprehend.
And it just makes me wonder how many more Jerry Sanduskys there are out in the world, currently being protected by organizations that value their contribution over the lives of innocent children?
My guess is that Sandusky himself was probably molested in early childhood. He may have repressed the memory deeply.

DeleteIf a molested child becomes a child molester, that child or adult already had a propensity for that deviation.
Some CHILDREN are younger-child molesters.
There are lots more. They and their enablers sure make it hard to prosecute them, though. Most of them blame their accusers for going after them, enticing them and prefer to think of themselves as the victims. Recently I heard a bishop babbling about the poor priests who were so tormented by these young sex fiends. It makes my blood boil.

ReplyDeleteGryphen, while reading comments at C4P, one commenter included another website in their comment which I followed. That lead to a site named "A Time For Choosing" which is obviously a wed site dedicated to Palin, and appears to also have been supported by SarahPAC or someone else connected to Palin. But after to go to that site there is an article named "Obama: Nazi Death Camp Like Experiments Gas Elderly". You should read the article which is absolutely ridiculous and a complete fabrication. If you go further by following the leads in the article, you'll find other conservative sites that not only carry that same story, but almost seems as if they all are working together somehow. I traced down some of the other sites but didn't go as far as I needed to find the source of stories like the one I mentioned.
I'll leave it to you as someone who has far more experience than I do follow it further to find out what you can. I believe in the end it will pay off well in the end.

DeleteIt is not accurate to say that Penn State covered this up. Only a very few people were aware of what happened and those very few people did not share what they knew. Two of them are under indictment for perjury and another was releived of his job as President of the Univeristy. Whether or not Saint Jopa was one of them will be debated for at least as long as Sandusky is in prison.

My belief is that Sandusky was abused by his father who ran the same kind of boy's club in their neighborhood. S can't admit guilt because he's shut the door to his own abuse. He's disassociative.

ReplyDeleteOne of my friends worked as the concierge at Leona Helmsley's Palace hotel as well as at the Plaza Hotel in New York and MJ would rent the penthouse suites, a bunch of underaged sex trafficked Hispanic boys would be "delivered" via the staff elevator, they'd stay the night to "party" and then be shipped away in the morning. He did this all over the world at all kinds of luxury hotels. People in the industry tried in vain for years to get the word out, often at great risk to themselves (blacklisting in the high end hotel industry is a very real thing; you do NOT tell on celebs, no matter what sick crap they get up to at your hotel.)
A different hotel employee friend of mine fed the LA police loads of info at the time of Jackson's molestation trial and the detective said that they had been receiving similar information for over a decade and the police were extremely pissed off and frustrated because they could never bring this information forward. MJ was protected at a very high level (Sony execs probably at the time.) To this day, mention the LOADS of evidence about MJ's predilections at mainstream websites and your comments get deleted, you get blacklisted from wherever you're commenting, and more. He is STILL highly protected.
Just this summer there was a "Michael Jackson the Immortal" tour exploiting his music, made tons of money; as long as his iconic image and music are profitable, the truth about this lifelong, unrepentant child molester will never come forward.

I take issue with the statement that this is essentially a life sentence. Technically, it is unlikely he will come out. But realistically, it is 3 years per criminal count. Think about Bernie Madoff getting a couple of hundred years-it sends a message. His sentence should have been 25-to-life for each count, to be served consecutively.

Thus, this is why she doesn't make 'sense' to most unaware individuals. She has handlers. Why do you think you always see two blackberries in her hands? She is receiving instructions for one.
How do I know this? Since my own horrific childhood abuse in Alaska (with no recognition nor mental therapy given), I have researched the subject thoroughly, trying to find closure - of which there is none.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, diseases and physical repair surgeries. Didn't ask for any of it. Child abusers should be put to death - none of this prison-for-life crap or else the cycle of abuse will continue for all time.
Sarah as a built-in expiration date. Then her daughters, beginning with Bristol, will take over - although with diminished fanfare. But Bristol, Willow and Piper ARE being programmed.
