Here is a reality check for those who continue to claim that this country is a Christian nation.

This might be of some help the next time one of those fundamental family members or uber religious Facebook friends make one of their ridiculous assertions again.

Just have them read this and then dare them to respond.

http://uneditedpolitics.com/2012/10/17/arizona-senator-john-mccain-interview-with-anderson-cooper-on-cnn-101712/ Hey Gryphen, Check this out and tell us what you think. Did McCain have a senior moment? He totally was out to lunch when he responded to AC about the presidential debate by talking about the VP debate held the night before. Did I miss something??

Actually folks, Gryph has posted something like this before. And I DID use it with some Repube people - including members of my own family. They said it was all wrong and even denied the intent and meaning of the quote from the Treaty of Tripoli.

If it works for you, great, but don't hold your breath. They will probably (as did some of the people with whom I spoke) say, "That was then. Things have changed." They got really pissed when I asked them when the Constitution had been re-written or even slightly modified.

It's from the religious brainwashing they received as children.

These types of people don't have a clue how to know if something is true or false. They don't know the difference between fact and opinion. They think if they believe it, it is true.

I could have used this last Wednesday when I couldn't stop myself from replying to a friend's Facebook post about how she wished our Christian nation had a Christian president. *sigh*

Instead, I just reminded her that Obama is American, Christian, and President and to get over it.
