Mitt Romney claims that he lost election because President Obama bought votes with "gifts." I'm sorry, what?

Courtesy of The Hill:

Mitt Romney said on a conference call with donors Wednesday that President Obama won the 2012 presidential campaign because of "gifts" given by the administration to black, Hispanic and young voters.

"The President’s campaign focused on giving targeted groups a big gift — so he made a big effort on small things," Romney said, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. "Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”

Romney said moves like the president's healthcare reform legislation and a decision to suspend deportations of certain illegal immigrants who came to the country as children proved "highly motivational" on Election Day. Romney also said he had "gotten beat up pretty bad" on issues including his immigration stance and personal wealth.

Yes Romney is right. President Obama offered to "gift" the American people with better access to healthcare and"gifted" people brought into this country as children with the opportunity to stay here as Americans rather than to be rounded up and tossed over the border like so much human debris.

What a bastard!

But hey Obama wasn't the ONLY candidate offering gifts now was he?

Didn't Romney offer the "gift" of protecting tax cuts for the very wealthy and the "gift" of dismantling Obamacare so that the health insurance industry could continue to gouge Americans and then kick them off their policies after they become sick enough to truly need it?

If we are going to bandy around the term "gift" then fine. In that case President Obama got elected because he offered something important to the American people, and Mitt Romney did NOT get elected because his "gifts" went to big business and millionaires and learned the hard way that their money could not buy him enough votes to "gift" him with the Presidency of these United States.

Let's fact it Mitt Romney is simply looking for an easy answer as to why he lost that does NOT involve him taking any personal responsibility. But the facts of the matter are that NOBODY liked his pasty white ass, and the ONLY votes he really got were simply because of the anti-Obama sentiment promoted 24 hours a day by Fox News and the radical Right Wing, and those in the base who vote Republican no matter WHICH loser is on the top of the ticket.

I am not in the black, or Hispanic, or young demographic but I asked the voting age 'youngsters' in the family if they had received their free stuff. So far, the stuff hasn't arrived. They didn't even know it was coming.

A coroner ruled that Pulitzer-winning author Gary Webb committed suicide in 2004. He allegedly shot himself in the head TWICE with a .38 revolver.

Yes, twice. With a .38. For daring to tell the truth. Think about that.

The Clintons were forced to go-along to get-along by providing cover for Mena, AR logistics by Barry Seal and friends, along with other nefarious "off the books" activities, but things worked out okay for them as a result. There's no point in adding Vince Foster's name to the list of victims who might have been conscientious objectors, because it only muddles the picture.

Scores were settled following Iran-Contra. Some situations could only be contained because eliminating the obstacles immediately would have only blown up the matter while it was too hot. Gary Webb's journalism was one of those "situations". Reagan was a stooge. Bush 41 was a fascillitator.

Fate put me closeby when Ochoa's soldiers gunned down Barry Seal. Then, as always, it was about the money. Prior to his murder, money had been stolen from Seal's Cayman Islands bank account. Allegedly $1.5 Billion.

Colombian drug money was laundered through Miami banks until the tonnage became impractical. Soon thereafter, offshore banking became a boon as logistics and lax oversight made it convenient to serve as a conduit for funds for "legitimate" investment in hedge funds, VC, and for reliable CIA front businesses, which profited while also serving as a cover for the activities of the Company. Some were merely she'll companies operated transactionally; others had a real profit-oriented operation in the "real economy".

Allen Stanford, Mitt Romney and many others used this seed money. Romney managed to stay in the shadows and maintained an arm's length but Stanford wanted to be a celebrity king of a banana republic. As a result, Stanford is where he is today. What's good for the goose...

There is no happy ending. Just an incredibly complex web of dark money propping up the shadow government which actually runs our government without operating the day-to-day activities. Combined with the disinformation used to distract and discourage media from peeking behind the curtain, this money often finds its way back into campaign coffers through dual-nationality individuals and groups.

Arms trade, narco-trafficking, human-trafficking. Power and Greed. From Iran-Contra to the 2012 elections (Pres, Congress, local), it has become easier to track because of the dissemination of information. But it's obvious why one must dig below the surface to see the sources of the corruption of power and where it leads. It's enough to make one skeptical and cynical of everything.

Too true. I'm a middle-aged, white Mormon mother and I would not have voted for Mitt Romney if he was the only candidate running. He is a terrible example. He lacks anything resembling integrity and can't connect with people because he is so self-absorbed. I don't care if he is rich, he has no right to turn his nose up at those who make less money or don't believe exactly as he does. As far as "gifts" go, I would much rather give amnesty to immigrants and health care to those who lack it than to give more tax breaks to the 1% he loves so much. I hope he crawls back under the rock from whence he came. Good riddance!

Oh, and for the record I was a Republican until the Tea Party was welcomed by them. I no longer associate myself with that political affiliation. Until the Republican Party tells the Tea Party to pack sand, they won't get my vote on anything.

  2. Obama had better policies to manage the country's move forward out of the Great Recession that we've been working our way out of since the collapse in 2008.

Obama offered a better message to the people that their families and their health matter more than the balance sheet of a handful of billionaires investing and hiding their money offshore to prevent paying their fair share of taxes.

Obama's team proved that smart people know whom to rely on for advice and whom to trust for polling and tracking. Romney still doesn't know why he lost, and probably never will, and that's just fine. He wasn't in the race for the people of the US and our interests; Mitt was in it for himself and his friends that own NFL and NASCAR teams.

He sure burned through a lot of cash to still be completely unaware of where he stood competitively. I don't consider that to be a trait of someone who's a great businessman.

Mitt's Myth is all self-created. I wish him health and happiness in his retirement. Perhaps he can take a couple of his more vocal supporters with him, including Trump and Palin. They have nothing to say that we wish to hear either.

The Mind-blowing Hypocrisy of John McCain: WMD Lie is Good, Repeating Intelligence is Bad

Hypocrisy alert: John McCain supported Condoleeza Rice who misled the public on WMD, causing thousands to die, but now attacks Susan Rice.

Remember when Condoleezza Rice misled the public about Iraq’s WMDs and over 4,000 Americans died? John McCain doesn’t seem to. McCain is trying to sell the idea that Susan Rice appearing on TV to tell the American people what the intelligence community had ascertained about Libya on September 18 was wrong. She should have chosen not to speak on the subject without more certainty, he and Lindsay Graham claim.

Yet, Susan Rice’s statement made it clear that things were not certain. Here, once again, is her statement to the media on September 18:

Mitt cannot see how his "gift" idiocy displays his inability to govern. Mitt lost because his campaign was incompetent and his character is flawed. Mitt latches onto whatever silly catchphrase tickles his weak brain. "Fewer ships than in 1917" was comically easy to shred, a 7th grade debate team could handle that. This "gift" line is just as pathetic. The reason Mitt is unfit to govern is that he cannot understand slogans do not replace actual thought.

And, of course, it didn't help Mitt that his fellow MALE Republicans blathered on about their many flavors of rape and how women were going to feel lucky under a Republican Taliban.

It just occurred to me that President Obama's "gifts" were his integrity, his honesty, his incredible work ethic, his compassion, his love for this country, his dignity, his sense of humor, and on and on. Yes they are "gifts" and, Mitt Romney, I was so happy about President Obama's many "gifts" that I voted for him in 2008 and again in 2012.

Tells you that he's not learned from his first 47% summit that people will film or tape you as the New York Times article I read -- someone allowed her to listen.

It also confirms that if he's so stunned and stupid with something that is not rocket science like being caught 24/7 in our digital technical age -- he's not qualified to be a trash collector.

His coming out after the first 47% release and saying he was for 100% -- he clearly doesn't see the electorate who are educated and can see through someone who should be warming the cell next to Madoff for his ponzi scheme as Romney was doing no different -- he'd rob the poor to pay the rich.

He see's it as gifts to the 47% -- but it's 'entitlements' for the 1%. They who get far more from the government now through tax breaks and loopholes than we'll ever see in our lifetime.

I hope Obama takes from this 2 things. Firstly, not to meet with him and certainly not entertain any of his ideas. Secondly - put the screws to the 1% -- up the rates back to what they were in Clinton years which are not new taxes and TIGHTLY close the loopholes. Fuck the bastard and his ilk!!! Couldn't happen to a nicer person.

And for any that feel sorry for the wicked witch he's married to -- she's no different than he which those here at IM know. By putting lipstick on a pig -- it's still a pig.

This is confirmation that we have to keep reminding people of how the Rethugs truly see a massive portion of the population.

The presidential election may just be over, but this should re-enforce why we should stay engaged and eliminate many more in the Midterms. They won't 'self-deport' so we have to help them along, out the door and slam it shut.

We also have to keep the media engaged as they fall easily into the trap of the Rethugs getting on board to pass immigration. Notice they've only spoken of Latinos. Nothing of African Americans. Nothing of Asian. Nothing of women - except Ohio is doubling down by putting a bill up to vote to get rid of Planned Parenthood. They've learned nothing.

So please do not fall into the trap that little runt Bobby Jindal has all of a sudden a week after the election grown a set of balls to trashtalk Romney when he was out on the campaign trail selling the BS of Romney on his behalf.

If you are not aware, Jindal as been named the head of the Rethuglican Governor's Association for 2013 so his mugg will be front and centre for the next year. Christie is named for 2014 if he wins re-election.

We all should know Jindal was the one who responded to Obama's SOTU speech in 2009 and basically laughed at the volcano monitoring equipment without knowing what it was. The volcano being in AK with the oil tanks at the base that erupted the following week -- the money for monitoring equipment Jindal called bad spending.

Man -- no rest for the weary. I don't call a week a holiday but the thugs like McConnell are already campaigning knowing he'll be primaried. Rubio is going to Iowa to set the groundwork for 2016. It never ends. When do these assholes work for which they are being paid -- by us.

The Republican donors got stung. The primaries produced the last clown in the clown car. And that clown sucked billions of dollars from the donors. The donors forked over the cash but still LOST political power. They are angry.

The Republican donors are going to demand a squeaky clean (tax records etc.) relatively unknown candidate that can be groomed to a puppet-like performance. The Republican donors don't want a president, they want a servant to do their bidding.

The Sarah Palin adventure was the first attempt at that scenario. McCain was old and his health was doubtful. It was quite likely that a presidency would be too much for him physically. And Sarah was the perfect mindless puppet (they thought).

A young blameless charismatic candidate and billions of donor dollars MIGHT (maybe) have defeated President Obama. Romney? No chance.

I think it was that the RGA contributed to her campaign for governor or something like that, and it was illegal.

    2. Anonymous1:03 PM

Yep, the RGA coordinated with Palin's campaign to help elect her as Governor of AK. They had no way to know that she was damaged goods from day one. She was supposed to be a tool of ALEC and dark money, but didn't understand that to be an effective shill as a Guv, you actually have to get up and go to work each day. That never agreed with Sarah's self-image so she couldn't hack it and they turned on her, but she managed to sell out to the crazy end of far-right money on her way being chased out the door before resigning in disgrace.

Sarah was compromised early on with the fake pregnancy ruse, and has been controlled ever since because of her fear of being outed. Like Romney, she read her press clippings and believed that she could be something she's not. At this point, she's a useful shill only on a certain level as long as she understands her limitations and stays on script. But she has been reduced far below Donald Trump and even New Gingrich in terms of importance, if not in size of ego. She's a circus attraction, actually more of a freak act in a fly-by-night traveling show of shysters and cons preying on the most gullible only.

Sarah is to be scorned and ridiculed, because she has to be neutralized while she is such a useful and desperate puppet for the dark side. Otherwise, she is a joke to any thinking person.

These are not good times for Sarah Palin, and her demeanor and personal health reflect her misery and self-hate. And I couldn't be happier about that.

President Obama won, not because of any 'gifts' he gave the darkies, as you believe, but because he is a far better leader than you could ever in your wildest dreams hope to be. Frankly, some of your proposed tax policies would have benefited me personally, yet the rest of what you offered was so transparently inappropriate and in many cases reckless for the country - and the world - that you must - for the betterment of all humankind - be kept as far away from high elected office as possible.
