Courtesy of CNN:
Most of the Republican members of a Senate committee investigating the terrorist attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, skipped an classified briefing by administration officials on the incident Wednesday, CNN has learned.
The missing lawmakers included Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who at the time of the top-secret briefing held a press conference in the Capitol to call for the creation of a Watergate-type special Congressional committee to investigate how and why the attack took place.
McCain, who has accused President Barack Obama of not telling the truth about the Benghazi attack, said that even though there are several committees involved in the probe, only a select committee could streamline the information flow and resolve the "many unanswered questions" about the tragedy.
When CNN approached McCain in a Capitol hallway Thursday morning, the senator refused to comment about why he missed the briefing, which was conducted by top diplomatic, military and counter-terrorism officials. Instead, McCain got testy when pressed to say why he wasn't there.
"I have no comment about my schedule and I'm not going to comment on how I spend my time to the media," McCain said.
Asked why he wouldn't comment, McCain grew agitated: "Because I have the right as a senator to have no comment and who the hell are you to tell me I can or not?”
This is John McCain in a nutshell: "If the administration does not know everything about this incident they are unqualified idiots. What? I missed a briefing where the administration was going to tell me everything they know about this incident? Well you are an idiot for asking me why I did not attend! Now get those damn kids off my lawn!"
Jesus if my dog were as temperamental and irrational as John McCain I would have it put to sleep.
You know it is VERY telling that MOST of the Republican members of the Senate committee investigating the attacks did not show up for the briefing. It is almost like they don't want to learn the actual facts of exactly how the Obama administration handled the situation.
After all learning REAL information might screw up their ability to declare to the Fox News viewers that the administration behaved incompetently. Couldn't have that, now could we?
you should check out what ryan said about missing the meeting, also and too

DeleteWorks for me.
99% of the Republicans are out to take down the President that the people elected. They are obsessed and care about nothing else. It is all about them and their beliefs. They have no morals and they will do anything to destroy the will of the people.
ReplyDeleteJohn McCain is long past his shelf life. He should have retired after the 2008 election. He showed how little he thought of the country when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Yes, he needs to be put out to pasture NOW. He has long ago negated any positive legacy he might have left from being a POW. He is a fraud and is looking less statesmen like everyday.
DeleteHey Johnny, GO AWAY. You're done and no hero to our country with the treasonous acts of the last few years and things you've said about the president.
It annoys me that his mother has had such a long life. Glad for her, but not that he has those genes. Even in his health condition, with the great ins we give him and modern medicine, he can be kept going longer than nature would have it.
DeleteI personally think the people behind the curtain pulling the strings have a lot of dirt on him in regards to Palin... Thus he's their puppet. The dirt should all just come out then maybe talking points will be a bit different
DeleteThis idiot can be a Senator as long as he keeps getting elected; yet a great man like President Obama is limited to just two terms.
DeleteAs a liberal I use to respect McCain. That respect came tumbling down after he choose Palin as his running mate and we found out how poorly from being qualified she actually was. To me it was a selfish reason on his part for choosing Palin and he obviously did very little, if any, vetting before hand. With that decisions he proved to the world he wasn't Presidential material and embarrassed our country. Like Palin, although not quite as bad, he continues to show little maturity in dealing with the loss, and they both come across as being very miserable and sad people on the inside. Of course in Palin's case, her ignorance along with being a miserable person inside seems to have destroyed any happiness she may have once had, especially since she continues to deny any responsibility in the loss, and tries to place blame on others and the press for her horrendous failures. Her narcism seems to be the only thing that keeps her going.
Deletesend the poor old guy to the home, he forgets meetings and doesnt need facts. damn alzheimers will really hurt a guy. dont worry john the nurses will remind you to brush your teeth
DeleteWhat, those teeth look like they haven't been brushed in at least 60 years. I feel sorry for the nurse that gets the task. Please change his diaper while at it.
DeleteMcCain is more interested in attacking the administration than he is in the facts.
ReplyDeleteOh, but he's a war hero. Doesn't that allow him to behave like an asshole and spew lies??
DeleteHero, my ass. Ask the other POWs who were held captive alongside McCain. They'll tell you why the North Vietnamese called him the SONGBIRD.
DeleteThe really sad part is that he didn't learn a thing from Vietnam & is a warmonger that is quick to get the next generation killed.

They need to up his meds if they don't want him to go into another one of his crazy fits where he swears and attacks his peers.
And to think this nasty old fool could have become our president...with the worst vice president in history winking at us by his side.
ReplyDeleteSo it's no comfort when you realize he probably would not have been president for long.
DeleteMcShame's hatred of President Obama has made him Senile. He selected the most INCOMPETENT person in the country(SARAH PALIN) as a running mate. Sarah's Family Skeletons in the closet and her PIMP DADDY Husband caused McShame to lose the Election. President Obama has far more INTELLIGENCE than Palin and McShame combined. To think that the 2 of them could run any Government without big problems is LAUGHABLE.
ReplyDeleteHe violated the Johnston's place trying to do clean up for the Palins. Now he wants us to believe she gave birth to Trig and he thinks she is a wonderful mother to a special needs child. He has to go, ASAP. I hope it is to prison for all the lies and crimes he's gotten away with so far.
DeleteHe is just reaping and sewing more crime to come back to roost on his soul and legacy. I can't laugh at some one so corrupt. He does not respect the people or he would get off the road to impeach the man we elected.
Anonymous 2:02, your comment comes across to me as the same fact free comments I read in C4P everyday. To accuse him of lying and stating he should be in prison when he hasn't committed any crimes to my knowledge, is simply not factual. If you sincerely believe he has committed any crimes, you should state what crimes he has committed and when instead of just making accusations with no foundation. I also haven't heard McCain state any impeachable offenses Obama may have committed, or even heard him talk about impeaching Obama.
DeleteI agree he has said somethings concerning Palin that I believe is wrong, such as being such a good mother to a special needs child. Their has also been other statements he has made in support of Palin I wouldn't agree with, but I think he is just trying to cover his a$$ for choosing Palin to be his running mate.
Go to C4P and read some of their hollow and fact less accusations they make concerning Obama as being corrupt and a criminal, and I hope you will see the similarity of your statement to theirs. If I hadn't been kicked out of C4P so long ago for writing negative things about Palin, I would say the same things to them.
McCain is corrupt as they come. Just look up the Savings & Loan debacle and see. McCain was censured & was lucky to have been allowed to stay in the senate. He probably should have been thrown in jail.
DeleteJust like old "walnuts" to get his panties in a wad when asked a legitimate question. These guys are the reason the Republican party will be non-existent in 10-20 years. I can't wait for that moment.
ReplyDeleteMore like "raisins".
DeleteIf Cindy Lou-Who kicks her husband, that old bastard McCain, in the nuts, they don't make a cracking noise... just a squishy sound.
He's just a grouchy, senile fucking dinosaur.
It's time for Senator McCrankyPants to retire. Johnny, follow Senator Kyl's example. You're looking like the old, bitter fool you are every time you open your mouth. And besmirching Susan Rice when you nominated $arah Palin to be VP...sad, sad, sad.

ReplyDeleteHave you NO SHAME?
Why all the criticism of the Republicans? They are for family values and fighting the USSR Commies and ChiComs wherever they are hiding. Freedom Jesus!! also.
You certainly don't expect these important old white men to keep Fox News waiting while they waste taxpayer dollars doing 'government business' do you? You should know better. All they need to know about this will be broadcast in the form of carefully coded briefings on Radio Limbaugh.
They don't need to go to briefings like this. They sent their staffers such as James O'Keefe and the newly hired Ivy Fry to take notes and get-r-dun.
I'm fixin' to head over to Boney Boo Boo's House of BabbleOn to check for late breaking updates on this.
This blog would probably be already defunct if there were no more Republicans.
Just keep sending McCain remarks and keep him knowing how connected to Sarah Palin he is. He has to pretend all nice but he hates it. He is going to come unhinged because that is who he is. Sure age and medicines have calmed him, but he will crack.

Sarah Palin, McCain's energy expert. She is the hot Foreign Policy expert.
I can't remember for sure but wasn't it alleged that Senator John McCain called some woman a cunt or something like that? In public? At least once or was it only once?
DeleteWas it his wife (whichever one), a random woman he was fornicating with, or was it Sarah Palin?
Maybe it was his wife. He didn't want to talk about that in this clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzYRKMk2DtI
What about the driveway hummers? Was that Newt or John? They do this sooo much it is hard to remember for sure.
John McCain called his wife, Cindy, a cunt. What a great husband, father, and role model.
DeleteHe called his wife "c_nt" I think it was in front of reporters, something dumb.
DeleteAt a committee with families for POW/MIA matters he was insulting and cruel to a sister of a brother who had been missing for years. I don't recall it all but he has a dark evil heart. Publicly shamed her over nothing. Except he didn't really care about the POW/MIA families.
Much talk of other incidents where he lost it. One was his peers in the Senate, he would get violent and go off on people. Even physical. He is not a well man.
The only good thing about John Muchinsane is that he is and was not President McCain.
ReplyDeleteAnd still (rhymes with duck) him for picking Sarah for a VP candidate.
I think the man is delusional and has dementia.
John McCain's last hurrah. Maybe the melanoma's coming back, and he wants to be remembered for bringing low the the hated Barack Obama and assuring his place in the hearts of the subspecies called old white men. His assholery has by now eclipsed whatever heroic things he may or may not have done as a POW. Fecking fossil, stfu.
ReplyDeleteYes, heaven forbid the GOP Senators get the FACTS about what happened. Whatever would they tell Faux Noise then? "Um, Sean you know, the spin about the President not responing is a lie." "No Bill, there was no TV coverage of the attack happening live while the President drank coffee and played video games and laughed. Didn't happen. And that story about us ignoring 'pleas for help?' Also a lie." No, that would NOT keep the morons tuned into Fox. They want a scandal, dammit, no matter if it's fiction. In fact, the more fiction the better with these 'Americans.'

it's simple. he didn't attend the briefing because he forgot. he's suffering from Alzheimers. long term memory okay. short term memory not so good. he knows who won World War 2 but he doesn't know what he had for breakfast yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI love how pissed off he's getting, especially when people criticize his choice of Sarah Palin and question his integrity. Every time it happens, people see his true character.
ReplyDeleteMcCain: "Goddamn, I did it again!"

Like Sarah Palin, John McCain is still just as angry and unhinged as he was right after the 2008 election:
ReplyDelete"Get off my lawn, you cunt-faced punks!"
Yeah, you tell 'em, Mr McCain.
McCain didn't want the Benghazi briefing because he couldn't pretend not to know the facts and information he would hear. It messes with the script he is to follow.
ReplyDeleteEven though I believe Mr. McCain needs to be put on a prune juice diet, I think the real reason he & the GOP are sworn to smear Susan Rice, our Ambassador to the to U.N., and to connect her to Behghazi is because they want Obama to pick John Kerry (who gets a pass from McCain) so that Scott Brown can fill his senate seat. So the GOP is going to whatever it takes, move heaven & earth lying to make sure Ms. Rice's nomination is blocked.
ReplyDelete-Colleen
When it comes to grandstanding, few politicians can outdo Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham. A few hours before the President’s first press conference since the election, this duo had one of their own, demanding a "Water-gate"-like special congressional investigation into the attack on our Benghazi CIA secret prison "consulate." As if at least three congressional committees looking into the matter isn’t enough, they want another one – just to make sure it comes to the right conclusions.

Geeze, what a read.
DeleteHowever, instead of going to the Justice Department, or the chair of a congressional intelligence committee, he turned to the Republicans, and specifically House majority leader Rep. Eric Cantor.
"Jesus if my dog were as temperamental and irrational as John McCain I would have it put to sleep."
ReplyDeleteMy dad killed a lot of people in WWII and watched a lot friends die. Then he starved in a German prison camp. A few days after being liberated, he hopped a truck and took a ride "up the road, just to see stuff" and walked into Dachau while they were still disposing of the bodies. After that, the VA waited 50 years to decide maybe they should do something about the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He had nightmares until he died.
SO... I got to grow up with the "temperamental and irrational". It was not fun. But I did get the experience of knowing a kind, gentle, intelligent, humorous man.
Of course, John McCain is not mentally together enough to be either a Senator or a President. His mental problems are not going to get any better. I wish for him a private life in the care of a loving family.

DeleteCindy doesn't want him. Meghan adores him. But he is worse than a grumpy old war vet. His crimes and misdemeanors are numerous. He belongs in prison after public humiliation.
PTSD is not "grumpy old"
DeleteWhen the Republican strategy planners got together a decade or so ago, they targeted several areas, as we are seeing develop over the last few years -- public education, redistricting, voter fraud. One of their most insidious and continuous techniques is to deny the Fourth Estate -- the legitimate news media, who are asking legitimate questions -- from doing their jobs. On tv, they talk over their interviewers or change the subject. Some of the, like McCain, overtly insist that he, an elected public official, can't be questioned about how he spends his time on national security subjects.
ReplyDeleteWatch over the coming months as they continue to try to delegitimize the press. Fox, that "lamestream media" lie -- all to undermine the real sources of information for the citizens of this country.
We must fight back and make sure they are accountable. More Rachel Maddows, more New Republics, more Immoral Minoritys.
WOW! Just another entitled white old man with a ton of money that feels he is so fucking entitled as to not answer a simple question. Why am I not surprised? After all, he chose an uneducated Sarah Palin for his VP, and still to this day, will not admit it was the worse decision in his life. The guy is a useless peice of shit!
ReplyDeleteI'd still love to know what ole Sarah has on him that he still backs her and is so quiet whenever her name is mentioned in the media.
McCain is like a cat with no sand in his box. Trying so hard to splat someone else with dirt.Is this the reason he was called songbird by fellow prisoners? His dirt is really quit smelly.
ReplyDeleteI think there is so much shit hiding in both of their closets that there will never be an outing on either of their parts.

ReplyDeleteJohn McCain is not a hero, he is just your classic bully and a coward. Whenever someone fights back and calls him on his shit, he lashes out. Luckily, for Mitt, he has no role, so some of the dumb stuff we are hearing from him in the last couple days will be the end of it. McCain just keeps supplying.

I wonder what McCain calls Sarah Palin since she lost the election for him.
That's what that old fucker gets for taking Sarah at her word that she is an energy expert then he tried to peddle that moose shit on us.
The vote didn't go their way, the threat to Secceed seems to be a dud, so they turn their rage to Impeachment.
ReplyDeleteThey seriously want a Watergate style investigation?
There's no "there" there.
What did we get since the election? A strong President standing up to the ninnies and defending Susan Rice. They gave us the optic of two old, grumpy white guys targeting an African American Woman for filibuster if Obama dares consider her for SOS.
The public hearing today was a particularly virulent display of bigoted racist driven lies against a newly re-elected African American President and a scandal that doesn't exist.
Bring it on!
After the temper tantrum's over, President Obama will prevail, and McCain will have his "Proceed, Senator" moment.
The immaturity of the 21st century Republican Party is simply amazing. We have John McCain and Sarah Palin who both have yet to get over having lost the election in 2008; we have Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan who apparently are headed in the same delusional direction. And we have the Republicans in Congress who are apparently going to continue in their full-blown tantrum mode despite having been told firmly by the American people that it is well beyond time to get over it. The only reason the GOP is still controlling the House of Representatives is because they and their state party buddies gerrymandered the districts so completely a couple of years ago.
DeleteWell, this American citizen is just sick of it and I plan to write to my new (our district got re-gerrymandered from one Republican to another) Congressman as often as I wrote to his predecessor. He only won by 2300 votes so he has to be reminded that he represents all of his constituents as well as all Americans, something that Republicans haven't a clue about.
i recommend that we all contact our GOP members of Congress with regularity so they know that we know what poor specimens of citizenship they are.

i recommend that we all contact our GOP members of Congress with regularity so they know that we know what poor specimens of citizenship they are.
DeleteABSOLUTELY!
Poor Senator McCain can't catch a break. Of course he missed the meeting, making the rounds on any show that would have him is exhausting, after all, he's been on a mission since he lost to President Obama, you know, "that one", to make him look bad, but it's backfiring. What we need is an intervention. Cindy "I can't feel my face" should do her wifely duty then send him off for his nap, preferably at one of the eleven houses he can't keep count of.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, here's a brilliant comparison between McCain's VP Pick and Susan Rice- let me just say "((someone's)) been reading THIS blog" ahem...

This recent episode w/McCain reminds me of when he was running against Obama and cut his campaign to go to Washington D.C. over the financial crisis/meeting.
ReplyDeleteHe was outshown by then candidate Obama and went back to his campaign and subsequently lost (w/the help of idiot Palin!).
He's doing the same thing again - grandstanding and lying on top of it. He's been proven to be lying and didn't attend the meeting that would have told him more about the situation w/Susan Rice.
The guy is a total jerk and is showing himself to be an angry old, crumpy, white guy of the Republican party. He's not helping them one bit and this is when they need to be shining and working together w/the Democratic party.
He's a first class asshole who called his wife the 'c' word in public!
