John Boehner forced to pull "Plan B" vote due to lack of support from Teabaggers. Hah!

"Come on guys, you're making me look bad here."
Courtesy of First Read:

After a cancelled vote on a contingency bill and a dramatic defeat for Republican leadership, United States House members will head home for the Christmas holiday without legislative action to halt a mix of automatic spending cuts and tax increases set to take effect in just 11 days.

Lacking enough support to pass a backup proposal to avert the "fiscal cliff," House Republican leaders on Thursday night were forced to pull from the floor a vote on 'Plan B' legislation that would have preserved Bush-era tax rates for all earners making less than $1 million but raised rates on the country's top earners.

House Speaker John Boehner intended that the last-ditch tax effort, coupled with revised spending reductions, would give the GOP-dominated House continued leverage in its negotiations with the White House and the Senate, both controlled by Democrats. But it was ultimately brought down by conservative Republicans reluctant to raise tax rates on any Americans, even the nation's top earners.

The House will now recess for the Christmas holiday, leaders said. Members have been advised that the House will return "when needed" before the end of the year.

"The House did not take up the tax measure today because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said in a statement. "Now it is up to the president to work with Senator Reid on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff. The House has already passed legislation to stop all of the January 1 tax rate increases and replace the sequester with responsible spending cuts that will begin to address our nation's crippling debt. The Senate must now act."

Oh my God this is awesome!

Here's Boehner trying to strong arm the President by telling him he was going to walk away from the deal THEY were working on and pass his own damn bill, and he finds himself stood up by his own party.

Karma baby!

Whatever happens we'll all just have to suck it up and deal with it. Now is the time for anyone that has the bucks to purchase another IRA. If taxes go up for middle class, treat yourself to a xmas bonus and do your max $3000 into an IRA before 12/31. If you have 401K's, put a bit into them now as well. We can weather a tax increase and SS decrease with money spent wisely. This fiscal cliff thing is just smoke and mirrors, but seriously, for those of us under 40 retirement is really in our hands so save and invest wisely and tell the Gov't to GO TO HELL!

You can tell the government to go to hell all you want.

I want what I've been paying taxes into since I was 16 to be there for me when I'm old enough to need it.

Oh, wait. That's me demanding handouts and being entitled, isn't it?

I think Cantor is behind it all. Eric the Evil has culled the baggers and is hunting down Boehners leadership position. What a mess that party is.

Cantor is a smarmy, opportunistic, slithering reptilian who is only out for himself.

Boehner was not the best candidate or prepared for being Speaker of the House. He hesitates when faced with having to make decisions.

Karma Kramer. Poor little Johnny. Stood up by his own goons. Couldn't'a happened to a nicer hypocrite. Let the tax cuts expire! Then re-enact for the under $250K crowd. If Obama caves w/all the cards stacked in his favor, he's a gigantic idiot.

    1. Obviously, Boehner can't have an adult discussion with the tea-bagger faction of his party either.

It won't be any better if the House GOPers dump Boehner in favor of Cantor or anyone else either. Too many in the GOP are worried about their own agenda to grab a little power during the chaos of losing their asses in November. They're all afraid that they'll be primaried if they do anything less than the Koch Bros dictate.

When Pelosi spoke up RIGHT after Boner did you could tell she KNEW that he didn't have the votes. Who knows how to be Speaker of the House and who is a whiny little crying bitch that just got spanked? Yup.

They should ALL have their paychecks frozen until they do their jobs and pass a budget. Who do they represent, really, just rich people? If the rich people can contribute millions of $$$ to try to get Romney elected, then they can afford a raise in their taxes. I hope all these republicans who are blocking everything lose their positions in the next election. Cantor is a little wiseass clown.

The legislator screw ups should donate their pay checks to to medical care, feeding and educating children, call it a fine. Their own medical insurance donated to the elderly. Let the legislators use the "free" clinics.

If the Republican Party wants to survive they're going to have to stand up and stamp out the teabaggers and their spokesperson like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh and all the other assholes!

  11. It must be obvious to the people what a MESS the GOP are in.

First McConnell filibusters his OWN BILL, now the Boehner/Cantor brain trust CAN'T COUNT VOTES!

As a matter of fact, ever since McCain picked Palin....it's been all down hill.

Choosing a Right-Wing-Nut-Job like Palin for VP, begat the crazy T-bagger movement, who are holding congress hostage.

Choosing her for the national ticket made ALL the crazies acceptable in the GOP, the crazier, the more extreme, the better!....in 2010 they rode in on the special bus and have been f*cking things up ever since.

Just glance back at the last cadre of GOP nominees for POTUS...it was nothing more than a disgraceful clown show.

Voting matters, more importantly, having a lick of sense about just who and what you are voting for ......matters even more.....

  14. LOL.

The 'baggers do realize there are more tax increases (by their definition) over the cliff than there were in Plan B (the day after too late poison pill).

    Bwa ha ha.

You get what you vote for. I hope all the constituents of the 'baggers are happy with their lack of representation.

Has anyone else noticed how all the middle class folks who could see a tax increase occur, if nothing can get done in Washington, are OKAY with it, for the most part?

Meanwhile, all the falling down on the ground and kicking heels like big spoiled brats, is happening only with the very rich--the only ones who can truly afford such an increase, without even noticing it.

Wait, What? Boener Bailed "Plan B"?
And I thought filibustering one's own filibuster was nuts!

Boener Pulled a Palin. He picked up his tiddly winks and went home.

According to Politico, he said "The Serenity Prayer" and "Almost Cried"! (I think they were being kind, he's probably bawling in his brewski as we speak!)
Oh well, you lay down with fleas, you wake up with teabaggers!

Bohner deserves to go down in flames just like McConnell....they are both asswipes living off our tax dollars year after year and just doing damage. It is true that in 2008 McCain started it all with Palin that hatched the teaparty and its been downhill ever since. They didn't come to Washington to govern, but destroy it...and we are literally paying them well to do it. Obama should enjoy his xmas and beat them bloody in Jan. I too believe that evil weasel Cantor is behind all this too...just chomping on the bit to be speaker. He is like the Ryan twin, not to be trusted....power hungry. I am just glad Congress is 2 years, those who vilify Pelosi should pay attention, she knows how to get things done.
