Lawrence O'Donnell explains why the Fiscal Cliff deal was the best deal possible.
I did not have time to post this yesterday, but I think it is too important to simply ignore.
I agree with Lawrence 100% on this and suggest that you listen to him carefully.

Unfortunately some people in this country are not intelligent enough to understand what Lawrence has outlined. Too much Fox viewing.
ReplyDeleteWas thrilled with Lawrence also talking about Harry Reid not sitting on his hands because he was not included in the final fiscal cliff negotiations but was busy at work getting a huge number of confirmations through with '100 votes'.
ReplyDeleteWhen you listen to every other show, and I'm talking about all the mouthpieces on MSNBC too -- not one person has said a word about all the confirmations. They're still spewing like Reid was tossed under the bus and he's still lying there.
That is one benefit of Lawrence and his show -- he has the DC 'inside' experience and can talk about it with knowledge instead of the mouthpieces -- again including MSNBC -- who talk but have never walked it. Scarborough has walked it but he's too interested in living in the past about how great he was. Arrogance at every turn putting on display his stupidity in that he was no more important than anyone else and DC is not the same as it was. He's no diff than the Rethugs in DC -- they live in the past. Add the fact the Scarborough spews BS as this morning he was sputtering off about cuts not being made. HELLO -- they would have if Boner hadn't walked away from the table with his stunned PLAN B but of course Scarborough and the BSers on his show have already forgotten about Boner's Plan B and are blaming Obama for the negotiating failure.
Thanks for posting this . . . a very clear explanation of what was attainable in the negotiation. It makes me feel much better about the agreement that was reached.
ReplyDeleteLawerence did a great job of laying things out.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama did a great job in getting this deal. I for one am sick and tired of the whiner's that complain about everything that the President does....nothing is ever good enough.
"I have not heard one word of criticism of President Obama's negotiating skills..."
ReplyDeleteThe headline is a quote from Lawrence O'Donnell's "Rewrite," that aired last night and it comes at the 08:06 point in the video.
It was one of the most informative episodes I have ever seen about the sausage-making required to get a deal done and a bill made in Washington, D.C.,--by someone who has actually done it.
Also check out WineRev's diary, The Left's Sequester Leverage, which provides excellent information about the advantage the Democrats have in the debt ceiling deal to come.
Here's my transcript of Lawrence O'Donnell's "Rewrite".

Perhaps his delivery is designed to keep women like me from being completely distracted by his blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteGo Larry! That was perfect! I passed it along to my fellow Democrats who've had their panties in a wad over this whole artificial crisis!
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves drama, and who can resist a train wreck? Stand firm, Mr President! You'll get the Olympic Gold medal for mastering Ninja Powers!
If he could run for a third term, I swear he'd win!
