Republican insiders say that John Boehner's days as Speaker of the House are over! Update: Apparenlty Boehner's are still safe in Congress.

Courtesy of CNS News:

I have confirmed with a group of Congressmen that House Speaker John Boehner will not be reelected Speaker tomorrow.

He will either resign or be forced out tomorrow. (Actually that would be today now.)

I can't say this is a surprise, but I have to wonder exactly WHO is dumb enough to want the job once Boehner has been kicked to the curb?

I mean if these morons think that anybody else will have an easier time of dealing with the Teabaggers and getting the House back to actually doing its job,  they are sadly mistaken.

Hell, they might as well draft Sarah Palin for the job.

She probably couldn't fail any worse than anybody else.

Update: Wow! There was  hell of a lot of reconsidering of positions last night (Possibly the House members realized that without Boehner they would be stuck with Eric Cantor.), and today Congress is singing a different tune.

This according to Vanity Fair:

Today’s vote on John Boehner’s speakership is not, as we predicted earlier, going to be any fun at all. According to The Hill, just one House Republican, Congressman-elect Steve Stockman of Texas, has publicly pledged to vote against Boehner. What will be fun will be watching Congressman-elect Steve Stockman of Texas write an open letter of apology to Speaker Boehner after the G.O.P. Steering Committee refuses to draft him to even the House Subcommittee on What to Order for Lunch and National Parks.

So Boehner is safe, if indeed being in this position can be considered "safe."

I guess somebody needs to call Sarah Palin and give her the bad news. Any volunteers?

It's his party and he'll cry if he wants to. You would cry too, if it happened to you.

Cantor will get it and then all hell will break loose. If you think BONER was an obstructionist, you ain't seen nothing yet.

    1. I agree, if this happens, it will be Cantor.

And unfortunately, it will be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire for the American people with him leading Congress.

Sad to say, but I agree totally with this statement. Cantor is far "slicker" than Boehner, and he's a more effective manipulator, a better liar, and more inclined to be underhanded (who could ever have thought it?). Boehner's been dreadful, but it would be a disaster to see Cantor get that slot.

I've been very disappointed in the outgoing Congress. Boehner will be known as the one who let the Violence against Women act to die.

Anonymous released a video of college men laughing and joking about a underage gang rape victim. Sadly, I believe these men may be the next crop of politicians.

    Gryp:
The mention of SP has already been posted on PoliticusUSA. Seems some conservatives believe she is just the ticket. Being a pimp wife, with daughters who are are unwed Mothers, having a son join the service or go to jail, for trashing school buses, another trashing a person's home, all gives her the right amount of(shall we say charm)the conservatives love.
This party is going down. WHOPEE!!

The Repuglican House is a submarine sailing with its doors open. The only person they could draft as Speaker big enough to right their ship is Gov, Chris Christie. Won't happen of course, 'cause the're too hamstrung choking on tea-bags.

National Review Reporter Smacks Down Conservative Spokesman Who Claimed Boehner Would Resign

Spokesman for American Majority Action, Ron Meyer Jr., has made waves recently with claims that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Oh) would either resign his position or be forced out by fellow conservatives. On Wednesday night, Meyer joined National Review’s Robert Costa with CNBC’s Larry Kudlow where he attempted to justify his claims. Costa, a seasoned Congressional reporter, said that he has heard nothing remotely like the coup Meyer was describing from his sources in the House Republican conference.

I think we will see a calculated Kabuki theater vote. Just enough votes to hold onto his seat, and allow the real shitheads to pontificate about what a crappy speaker he's been and vote against him to keep their shithead (sorry, I mean Tea Party) bona fides. I really think they like the status quo. Republicans have no plan, so they need a straw dog to complain about, and keep floating turds in the punchbowl.

I am watching C-SPAN2 and cheered when my Senator Sherrod Brown and Elizabeth Warren took their oaths. As I watched the whole ceremony I had to think how different this would be if Sister Sarah was VP instead of Joe Biden.

I am also aghast at how rude the Senators are..if they were kids in school, they would get detention. The Speaker has asked repeatedly for them to be quiet and they continue to chat and laugh and totally ignore what is going on. Shame on them!

Michelle Bachmann voted for Boehner. He is not offically TOAST to the Tea Party. She will never be re-elected again.

  11. From one Eric Pierce on Facebook about Palin SOTH: "This is not where Sarah's greatest talents lie,. The American Congress is a fetid swamp, not a pristine pool. Best that we continue to support Sarah's decision to affect change from outside, and not encourage her to jump into the quicksand and be pulled down forever.

What we need is a battle-scarred and battle-tested conservative who can bridge the current gap in the Republican Party and forge agreements that will please ALL Republicans while at the same time pleasing NO Democrats.

This is, on a practical level, an impossible goal - but it is one for which we should relentlessly strive. Do we have a person in our party who might be able to bring this off?

    I think so. Newt Gingrich.

Yes, you can find lots of fault with Gingrich's personal life if you are so inclined, but you can't find a man more qualified to be Speaker against the Obama Machine, nor can you suggest any person more conservatively principled, battle-tested, fearless or more suited to the job."

They can never make up their minds. Is she a Grizzly or a maiden in distress?

Ha! Shelly voted for Boehner, tweeted that her FIRST priority is Appealing Obamacare.

Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
