After Obama mentioned that he had indeed handled a gun while skeet shooting at Camp David in a recent interview, the Right Wing went nuts demanding a picture.

So now they have one.

The Republicans have made much of the fact that they doubt very seriously that the President does any skeet shooting, and if he did it was a rare occurrence. But the President NEVER said he engaged in skeet shooting with any frequency.

Here is the exchange as it was reported in the New Republic:  

FF: Have you ever fired a gun? 

Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time. 

FF: The whole family? 

Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake.

Note that the questions was "Have you ever fired a gun?" To which the President replied that "Yes, in fact up at Camp David, WE do skeet shooting all of the time."

The President really never said that HE did it all of the time, and in fact pointed out that it was guests who were engaging in the activity. I never took that to man that the President was trying to pass himself off as some kind of champion skeet shooter, only that he had indeed engaged in the sport.

But as we all know this picture will do little to silence the anti-Obama folks, so I offer yet another picture of Obama brandishing a gun.

I would also like to point out that he is clearly in the middle of a combat situation, so take THAT Right Wing!
