Nebraska Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy resigned Saturday after “breaking the public trust,” Gov. Dave Heineman said.
Heineman announced Sheehy’s resignation in a hastily called news conference Saturday morning. Heineman said the resignation followed disclosures made in a public records request, but declined to discuss what those disclosures were.
“As public officials, we are rightly held to a higher standard,” Heineman said. “I had trusted him, and that trust was broken.”
Sheehy resigned after questions were raised about improper cellphone calls to four women, none of which were his wife, during the past four years. The story was first reported by the Omaha World-Herald.
Records released Saturday by the governor’s office show Sheehy made thousands of late-night phone calls to the women on his state-issued cellphone. Sheehy made some of the calls numerous times a day, with the conversations lasting anywhere from a few minutes to more than an hour, according to the records.
One woman he frequently called, Dr. Theresa Hatcher of Bellevue, told The Associated Press that she and Sheehy had maintained a long-term relationship after they met during a meeting of emergency responders Texas in 2008. Sheehy leads the state’s emergency management efforts, and Hatcher is an emergency room doctor.
“I thought I was the only one,” she said. “Apparently, I was grossly mistaken.”
She added: “Politicians can lie. Doctors don’t lie.”
Hatcher said she last talked to Sheehy about two weeks ago.
Is it wrong that I am really not at all scandalized by this?
I mean this is a conservative Republican who was caught flirting with several women, and NO young boys. To me that is about as moral as I expect any of these people to be.
I guess now we know why his wife filed for divorce last July, now don't we?
You're right Gryphen. There were no underaged individuals, no wearing of diapers, no wearing of furry animal costumes---allegedly, and no toe tapping under a stall. And no meth or crack. Seems pretty boring to me. Except he probably calls himself a family values republican.
ReplyDeleteor is in a covenant marriage
DeleteHis poor wife.
ReplyDeleteshe filed for divorce before this was public, I'm thinking she got a good settlement AND she got rid of him.
Deletewas it her attorney who filed the public records request?
DeleteDivorce is not final. The local newspaper filed the records request.
DeleteBut wait- there's more...obsession plus just plain creepy to think that you should tell a reporter this to explain your picture that is now posted for all to see.

Bellevue doctor Hatcher says Sheehy promised marriage
"Dr. Theresa Hatcher holds a photo of she and Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy taken at the Governor's Inaugural Ball in January 2011. She said she had the photographer crop into the picture so that only she and Sheehy were shown, cropping out her date and Sheehy's wife."
Thanks for the link! If I was a patient of Dr Terri Hatcher I would get a new doctor! The woman is INSANE...and too stupid to be an actual doctor! Oh and she's a deadbeat..check this out...from the article...
Delete"She said that Sheehy told her he was unhappily married and that he planned to divorce his wife and build a new life with her.
“That was the plan,” Hatcher said.
She said she acted on that belief, purchasing a loft in downtown Hastings in September 2010 and hiring a contractor to undertake a $350,000 renovation.
Court records indicate that in May 2011, she stopped making the $29,000-a-month payments for the renovation. Hatcher said that Sheehy had broken off his relationship with her about that time, so she abandoned the home-building project."
Again....too stupid to be a REAL doctor! LOL!!!
I wonder if someone dropped a dime (lol google that if under 50!) on the Lt. Gov and that's why the wife filed? Ummmm maybe about the time the love nest renovation got shut down?
DeleteAhhh, Gina! She pulled a Palin and quit.
DeleteShe also said "Doctors don't lie"!! Has she ever heard of Palin's doctor who lied to protect $carah? SHE LIED.
DeleteFamily values win again. Too bad it never applies to their own families.
ReplyDelete"One woman he frequently called, Dr. Theresa Hatcher of Bellevue, told The Associated Press that she and Sheehy had maintained a long-term relationship after they met during a meeting of emergency responders Texas in 2008. ReplyDelete“I thought I was the only one,” she said. “Apparently, I was grossly mistaken.”
Wait...what?? Did this home wrecker tried to act like she didn't know that this man was MARRIED back in 08 and "maintained a long-term relationship" with Lt Gov Cheater? Rigghhhht!
Whatever...at least Dr. Theresa Hatcher (Terri Hatcher...WTF??)should be glad that Lt Gov Cheater was only hanging with women...at least that's what we know so far! LOL!!!
Well she thought that he was going to marry her!
DeleteI never understand the audacity of a home wrecking 'other woman'
DeleteShe was sorely mistaken, yeah right. I agree, how could she not know that a politician, a public figure, was married?
Stop acting surprised, or acting like you are hurt. The 'other woman' I'll never understand. How a woman could hurt another woman like that it beyond me.
When you're a doctor, it's called "Emergency Responder", every one else, it's called "Booty Call"
DeleteWhy do they always say stuff like : “I thought I was the only one,” she said. “Apparently, I was grossly mistaken.” ???? Are they THAT stoopid?
Maybe Dr Theresa Hatcher is from Bellevue, New York - famous for its emergency department AND its psychiatric facilities.
Delete"If they'll do it with you, they'll do it TO you" -Dr Phil
DeleteOMG I freekin quoted Dr Phil. buwahahahahahahah
VernD
There is a saying that when a man marries his mistress, a position comes open. Now I'm not a fancy Emergency Room Dr., but at least I knew that.
ReplyDeleteYep, just one more FAMILY VALUES common sense conservative Christian who wants to control everything in your bedroom, doctor's office, personal life, and family planning, but apparently it's OK for him to f*ck around on his wife.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally shocked that no boys were involved. Seems he had a higher standard than others.
ReplyDeleteand WTF? is Dr. Hatcher serious that doctors don't lie? Sheesh.
He must be a "good baptist", chasing that much tail behind his wife's back. Shocking that he bagged only one out if three, but it sounds like it wasn't for a lack of effort on his part. Did he get ANY real Lt Gov work done for the people of NE?
Delete"I thought I was the only one." You know, besides his wife of 28 years.
ReplyDeleteBut doctors never lie.
DeleteExcept in commercials for Big Pharma's high-margin specialty drugs. But they do it with a wink and a smile, so it's okay.
DeleteAnd the check is in the mail.
DeleteHonest, ossifer, I've only had one beer to drink.
DeleteIt does continue to amaze me that these people can legislate away peoples lives, livelihoods and rights but oh dear - don't mention sex.
ReplyDeleteI find it stupid to the nth degree that politicians behave in this way & think they can hide it - but they should be fired for the stupid - not for the "cheating".
It's because they feel they are above the laws and regulations they impose on everyone else.
DeleteShameful.
It's hard to be surprised that someone who would fuck over his wife and kids would also fuck over anyone else he felt that he could
DeleteJust as someone said, when a man marries his mistress, there is a job opening. Have you filled the opening yet, Creepy Chucky, Jr? Or are you just "interviewing" for the position?
Chuck, Jr is as big of a piece of shit as the ex Lt Guv of NE. But at least Sheehy was fucking around with an adult, not someone half his age that he knocked up while screwing around with young coworkers.
Apparently, Creepy Chucky Junior never got around to talking to his kids about what happens often as a result of unprotected sex. Not the smartest bunch, as every generation of their family in the public eye has had to learn the lesson again and again.
"Politicians lie. Doctors don't lie," Dr Theresa Hatcher lied.
ReplyDeleteGee, now I am wondering if Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan ever used a MOA phone (land line or cell phone) to chat up the Party Planner -- who, you know, he put on the MOA payroll.
ReplyDeleteCan we use a "freedom of information" request to access the phone records and find out?
"I thought I was the only one," she says. Ha!
ReplyDeleteSounds like Dr. Hatcher has forgotten Rule #1: If he'll cheat FOR you, he'll cheat ON you.
"I thought I was the only one,”
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she meant, OTHER THAN HIS WIFE.
So "Doctors don't lie" but they don't consider cheating with a married man to be lying? She's as dishonest as he is.
Love the way these jerks are always being fired for something they did, not because they're just too stupid to have around.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with these morons? They use private emails for government business (Palin, etc) and government owned phones for personal business (phone sex).
ReplyDeleteDid Palin use a state-issued cell phone during The Wild Ride, and can these records be requested?
ReplyDeleteWell, I have to say, the fact that he chose THOSE eyeglass frames would have made me question his judgment. Good lord.
