What do you say Texas? |
“I think that in 2016 it will absolutely be considered a swing state in the sense that presidential candidates will have to campaign here, which they haven’t been doing for a long time,” Allison said. “If Hillary Clinton does run, she does really well in Texas.”
Such an optimistic vision of the former secretary of state’s chances was fueled in part by a survey conducted last month by the Democratic-affiliated Public Policy Polling, which showed Clinton besting three hypothetical Republican opponents in Texas -- including Perry (by a margin of eight points).
While the knee-jerk reaction among many Republicans would be to dismiss the idea that the state could be competitive in 2016 -- just four years after Mitt Romney carried it by 16 points over President Obama -- Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri is in no mood to sneer.
In an interview with RCP, Munisteri said that he has long taken seriously the possibility that Texas could become a battleground as early as 2016, particularly if Clinton becomes the Democratic standard-bearer.
“If she’s the nominee, I would say that this is a ‘lean Republican’ state but not a ‘solid Republican’ state,” he said. “I don’t know anyone nationally who’s scoffing at this. The national party leadership is aware and tells me they’re taking it seriously.”
Okay not that I need any more reason to support Hillary in 2016, but if I did this alone would probably be more than enough reason to throw my support behind her candidacy.
Could you imagine if the Democrats won George Bush's home state?
It would be epic!
What's the difference between Hillary and Sarah?
ReplyDeleteHillary and Sarah are two completely different women. One big difference between these two is that Hillary can write her own speeches while Sarah has to pay someone to write her speeches.
Hillary can read and say verbatim what she writes. Sarah's learning disability cancels her comprehension of anything she reads. Therefore she produces 'word salad' that others can't understand. John McCain insulted all of America
Deleteby succumbing to Lowell 'Bud' Paxson's threats of exposing McCain's Trysts with Vicki Iseman(Paxson's Lobbyist to McCain) and selecting an Unqualified Sarah Palin for Vice President. I believe that Sarah Palin knows of the arrangement and would use it if McCain ever turned on her. That is why Sarah and Todd are so brazen with their rants. They think that they are untouchable.
"Sarah's learning disability cancels her comprehension of anything she reads....."
DeleteExample you can tell Sarah Palin a thousand times and she will still say:
Joe O'Biden
If Hillary ran for president it would piss off the Republicans because they know they can't beat her.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter lives in Austin and indicates it being pretty Democratic. Would be a kick in the butt to see their state go blue! Same for Alaska!!!
ReplyDeleteYea, Hillary! Need her to carry on after our wonder President Obama and VP Biden finish their terms.
Texas has a history of strong democrats.Lyndon Johnson and Ann Richards come to mind. They just been hijacked by the whackos. They will come to their senses sooner or later.Gotta get rid of people like Ted Cruz and Rick Perry. They are making Texas look bad.
ReplyDeleteAgree! Go Hillary! We need to take back TEXAS!
DeleteAustin/San Antonio(the central corridor), the Valley(Ro Grande Valley including Mission/Mcallen) and El Paso are bright blue. Austin is growing at a rate of over 65,000 more a yr. All the densely populated areas of Texas are democratic...next election or the one after we will turn Texas blue.
ReplyDeleteI dunno about that...I am in Houston and you can get shot here for mentioning a democratic theme. Crazy people in Houston
DeleteI live in Houston too (no, I'm not crazy!) and while my Rep is a Republican, I can definitely see Houston going blue. Sure there are a lot of GOTP people in and around the Houston area but we were progressive enough to elect an openly gay Mayor. And with all the crap the R's are doing to women's health care, Hillary will carry Houston - no doubt in my mind. Should be fun to watch!
DeleteIn the big picture Houston won't matter, has Houston ever mattered?
DeleteBeware the GOP press that so love Hillary - when the GOP wants someone to run as a democrat - the brain wonders why.
ReplyDeleteAlso too, it is all done to take from the man who is currently doing too good a job in highlighting GOP derangement syndrome.
I don't know about epic, but it would sure be fun! After all that is the state of Ann Richards and Molly Ivins, may they RIP.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous4:34 PM"Sarah's learning disability cancels her comprehension of anything she reads.....

Why do you think Sarah Palin's kids are so damn ignorant and always had problems in school? They are learning impaired like Sarah.
Those ass wipes can't even follow the instructIons on a box of condoms or birth control pills.
That's why the Palin retards drop out of high school, are home schooled and have to get GEDs
I can't even believe that any sane person would deign to compare Hillary and Sarah. If the GOP really wants to slink as low as to attempt to run Palin against Clinton it will mean certain disaster. Karl Rove will never let it happen; the rich white men know how their bread is buttered and it's not by releasing the now Arizona Grizzly as their candidate. She is toast, except for us, and the C4P's that still talk about her.
ReplyDeleteThat silly prick Rick Perry shot the whole state in the boot with his loony halfa fruit self during the Republican primary. The video of him flaming it up in New England after a couple of Harvey Wallbangers was enough to convince the most earnest of Lone Star State observers that the sitting governor was at best a shitty drinker and a dope and at worst, well, Judy Garland. What a fuckin riot, what a buncha titwillows.
ReplyDeleteI can by no means be considered as a high income person, but I can hardly wait for her to say she's running. That checkbook of mine will probably catch fire as I whip it out of my pocket!
ReplyDeleteHillary 2016
She is popular at the moment because she has just finished being Secretary of State and that is a largely Apolitical position. When she gets into the primaries it will all be different. More than a years worth of Fox news / right wing radio crap will turn her back into a politician and her poll ratings will dip. The question is how will she be doing then and who will emerge on the democratic side to challenge her.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she is smart enough not to make the same mistakes she made in her last campaign. She should basically try to co-opt Obama's campaign apparatus. ...If that's possible.
I love it! Bush's own state, and a day that his wife asked to be taken off the pro marriage equality campaign One door opens, two buses jump out the window! Can you imagine Fox News and Rush? Their noggins are going to explode!
ReplyDeletelink for laura asking to be removed from pro gay campaign:

Rumor has it, the NRA wants the Bushes for a pro gun rights campaign, starring La Pierre and Dick Cheyney as instructors. This sounds like a winner!!
Awww, Rush has a sad...
ReplyDeleteRush Limbaugh whines how he is Ashamed Of My Country’ because'The Left Has Beaten Us'
...“Anyway, my point with all this is that for 25 years, folks, we’ve been dealing with the same premise: “Unless we spend another dime, the country is going to cease to exist,” and for 25 years I have responded to each premise on what I call an intellectual, point-by-point basis refuting every claim. The purpose of this program has been to create as large a body of informed voting citizens as possible. While we’ve been largely and profoundly successful at that, the left has beaten us.
They have created far more low-information, unaware, uneducated people than we’ve been able to keep up with. We’ve had a profound impact in improving, increasing that universe of people — citizens — who are in the arena of ideas now, who are informed and educated. I’ve always had a Civics 101 view of the country: People get what they want, they vote what they want, and they get the way they vote.
And if a majority of people are educated and informed and know what’s going on, liberalism — and these powerful forces that have ill intent to the country — can be defeated. Yet despite overwhelming success in creating more and more people who are informed and active and involved, the left has control of the education system — control of the pop culture, movies, TVs, books, music. We’ve just been outnumbered.”

It's stunning how he describes 'opposite world', just makes my head spin. Talk about denial and projection happening all at the same time!
