Rand Paul to give Teabagger rebuttal to President Obama's SOTU speech. Republicans everywhere prepare to facepalm.

"No seriously. What the hell is on my head?"
Courtesy of Tea Party Express:

Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest tea party political action committee, will host the Tea Party response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address directly following the Republican response by Senator Marco Rubio. Senator Rand Paul will deliver the Tea Party response at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said, “We are excited to have Senator Paul deliver the 3rd Tea Party State of the Union response next week. Americans are fed up with Washington politics that fail to address America’s fiscal woes. Tea Party Express has called for reducing the size, cost, and intrusiveness of the federal government, and we have stood strongly for pro-growth policies to get the economy growing and job creation increased.

“Since the President has been re-elected, the debt has continued to skyrocket and unemployment has ticked up (Both of those are factual inaccurate by the way.), but he has offered no solutions and has shown no leadership. In contrast, Senator Rand Paul has put forth solutions that would spur economic growth and rein in Washington’s out-of-control spending. We are excited that Senator Paul, a conservative leader and strong voice for the Tea Party movement, will be offering our perspective on the state of the union.

“We are happy to see that the Republicans have selected Tea Party conservative Senator Marco Rubio to deliver their response. Both Senator Rubio and Senator Paul will articulate pro-growth messages that will resonate with the American people” Kremer concluded.

Personally I welcome Rand Paul's contribution to the debate which is to help illustrate how impressive our President is by having somebody insignificant challenge him publicly.

By the way isn't Marco Rubio ALSO a Teabagger? I guess after the GOP cleaned him up and taught him to tie his own shoes he is just not fringe enough to represent people who wear tricorner hats and dangle tea bags in front of their face.

Classy!
I can only hope that THIS speech by "Named after that lady who wrote Atlas Shrugged" Paul will be as entertaining as Michele Bachmann's speech in 2011. (I especially enjoyed how she looked off camera as she delivered it.)

Oh well I am sure that Paul will do a magnificent job, and will know how he did by the sound all across the country of one hand clapping.

Ummm...according to one of the patients at the Asylum yesterday....here's an answer...

Freempg Yesterday 09:14 PM in reply to Brian
Bachmann took the Governor's place last year, Rand Paul has it this year. We know who the leader of the Tea Party is. Without her, they are a factionalized hodge podge of nobodies wandering in the wilderness.

      Hmmm....let's see....WTF!

Does anyone else remember Baldy being offered the "response" and turning it down so that Michele "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann took her place? Er...that would be a big fat...NO! Those folks are truly INSANE!

That's bullshit that there are two rebuttals. The Tea Party isn't a party, they shouldn't get a response.

Yes! They should get a response. Broadcast as much crazy as you can. The more the better.

      It works.

Unfortunately, the Press Club can have anyone they want give a speech and they can blast it allover the airwaves. Nothing to do with it being a REAL party response.

Of course, I'm not too sure the Repubes are a real party anymore - or won't be if they continue to hemorrhage members as they have been.

Meet Marco Rubio, the new leader of the Republican party

Marco Rubio’s selection to deliver the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union cements the Florida senator’s role as a first-among-equals when it comes to the future leaders of the party, and sets up an intriguing dynamic over the next few years between Rubio and the man he almost certainly wants to replace.

That Congressional Republicans chose Rubio to carry the party’s flag is, frankly, not at all surprising. It’s no secret that Rubio is the single most marketable product in the Republican party today; he’s young (41 years old), Hispanic and conservative without being frightening to voters outside of the party base. He is also, without question, the most gifted communicator in the party — a natural ability that evokes, dare we write it, Barack Obama. (For more on Rubio’s abilities, check out the piece we wrote following his speech at the Republican National Convention speech.)

“He is the most natural communicator in our party since Reagan, and I’ve not said that of anyone before,” said Ed Gillespie, former chairman of the Republican National Convention of Rubio. “When he speaks it’s like someone tapped a tuning fork. He just hums.”

Rubio is, to be blunt, the obvious choice — particularly with his recent leadership on a compromise immigration reform measure, a piece of legislation that is of massive import to the GOP’s future political prospects.

The more intriguing narrative that unspools from the choice of Rubio is how Tuesday night’s speech likely kicks off a period in which the GOP puts the Florida senator forward as its de facto foil to President Obama.

The simple truth is that the national Republican party lacks a leader at the moment, someone who can effectively articulate a counter-message to the one Obama is delivering to the country.

Tea Party Students Protest Butt-Plug Giveaway at NC State University

A group of Tea Party students say they are outraged after North Carolina State University purchased about $300 worth of items to demonstrate safe sex -- including an "anal plug," six vibrators, three dildos and a "booty booster."

According to Campus Reform, Union Activities Board (UAB) purchased the sex toys as prizes for a "Dirty Bingo" event scheduled for Feb. 12.

In a letter posted to Facebook, UAB President Lauryn A. Collier explained that $304.69 has been spent on "a few edible undergarments, Fifty Shades of Grey book and game, six vibrators, four surprise packs, three dildos, a toy cleaner, lube, a sex game, a sex position book, an anal plug and a booty booster."

"The purpose of this event is to find an innovative and entertaining way to talk about sex and sex education, particularly on a college campus, which deviates the norm and expected," she wrote. "The certified educators plan to use some of the purchased items (those that are appropriate) to demonstrate safe and healthy sex practices. The programmers of this event wanted to include some ‘gag’ or non-educational prizes to add to the humorous and ‘dirty’ themed event."

Members of the group Young Americans for Liberty, which was originally formed to support former Rep. Ron Paul's (R-TX) 2008 presidential campaign, expressed outrage at the use of student funds for the event.

"The fact that a public university is going to spend mandatory student fees on such an event is just repulsive," Young Americans for Liberty North Carolina co-chair Emma Benson told Campus Reform. "There is nothing that involves reading 50 Shades of Grey or using a butt plug that promotes safe sex."

The group is calling on students to show up at the "Dirty Bingo" event on Tuesday in protest.

"NCSU is not Chapel Hill," NC State student Jason Voluntaryist wrote on Facebook. "We still have some sense of integrity, and we ought to understand the difference between a truly academically relevant event and simply screwing around."

But Collier insisted that the cost of the program works out to be less than a penny per student and that the sexually-explicit prizes were the real issue for some.

"From the concerned students I have spoken to, the issue is not the topic of the event; more so the specific ‘inappropriate’ prizes that were purchased and visualized online," she said. "I have stated that if any of the items are truly offensive and unacceptable, we will not give them away."

"From here I will be working with the programmers and concerned students to pull any items we deem unsuitable for this student event. I do support having events such as this and the traditional 'I [heart] Female Orgasm; program to allow students freedom to learn about healthy sex practices and have pure entertainment doing so."

She concluded: "We understand that not every student will like every event – especially with films, concerts, and tough topics like sex education – but we will continue to listen to students when they voice both concern and appreciation or interest."

Marco is one of those pretend conservatives, so he's a pretend bagger when it comes to pandering for votes. He's actually a neocon-in-training, having learned at the feet of Jeb and the Bushies, who have been promoting him as a future superstar since his first campaign win in a supervisor position in West Miami in his 20's. He's been groomed by dark money thru Rove's two Crossroads PAC $$$, and he will be loyal to Jeb come hell or high water.

The neocons are trying to position Rubio as the more conservative candidate, but he's really a stalking horse for Jeb. If things work out, Marco will be #2 on Jeb'e ticket, and a conservative/Teabagger like Cruz from Texas might be on the ticket (although he was Canadian-born, so that could be an issue, although I believe his mother was a US citizen). Otherwise, Rubio will be promised a top cabinet position, perhaps not at the beginning of Jeb's term, bc the GOP won't want to risk losing Rubio's seat in the Senate. But Jeb and Marco will be coordinating their campaigns to cast as wide a net as possible, bc Libertarians and fiscal conservatives know that Jeb is not a hard line conservative.

Jeb will run a populist center/center- right campaign, and will pick a running mate to the right of him politically, unless one of the Generals popular with the RW and the neocon's looks strong. That could be a wild card, because the RW loves them some fake patriotism and love to talk about kicking some ass in the ME where all them Arabs and Muslims are planning to attack our shores. Yeah, right.

Anyway, that's my take on Bush and Rubio. Jeb might even run to the left of Hillary on some issues, because Hillary has never been a bleeding heart true librul. It will be a very competitive campaign, and every candidate in the GOP primary will be attacking Hillary, not the front runner(s) Jeb and presumably, Marco. With the Koch money and AIPAC, this will be just as ugly as 2012, if Hillary does run. But I do believe that she's the only one they can beat the money guys in 2016 because she will be able to fund-raise big $$$ too.

Just my opinion. I'll be interested to read others.

Just because Sarah is an Alaskan does´t mean Alaskans like her. Just the opposite.

      Most Hispanics don´t like Rubio.

Rubio is hosed. Don't spend your time worrying about Republicans coming up with an effective solution to their problem with minorities.

By the way, I actually got chills when reading some conservative posts, blaming the country for "wanting things" and thus voting for Obama.

It reminded me of fundamentalist terrorist groups in the middle east who started blowing up civilians because the general population refused to accept their radicalism. It's a dangerous string of logic. "The people don't believe in what they should believe. They have become corrupt themselves."

By all means, let them put Rubio on the ticket.

You seem to think Jeb is going to be the nominee and that he is going to run. You also seem to be crediting him with an awful lot of intelligence considering the fact that he is considered the less intelligent Bush brother. He has an awful lot of negatives and there's a lot of Bush fatigue, even among Republicans. This is the opposite of the way things are with Democrats and the Clintons. We love the Clintons, to the point where some people pretend that the Clintons were more liberal than they were. My favorite was when gay people talk your ear off about the Clinton years -- and then complain that Obama isn't doing enough for gay rights. Uh, ex-squeeze me? You want to bring back the guy who gave you DOMA and DADT and you're saying that the dude who overturned those two boondoggles isn't doing enough? Jeez!

Also, if Jeb runs, he would be really, really stupid to put Rubio on the ticket. What could Rubio possibly bring to the ticket? Votes from the block of Cuban-American voters in Iowa?

Let's see how Rubio does on Tuesday. Then we'll know whether we should crown him the king of the Republican party or not.

Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that the economy will be pretty good in 2016. In that case, you can be sure that anyone associated with Obama, as long as he doesn't get locked into any big scandals, will be in a good position. If that's the case, look for Biden to pull out a possible upset of the Clintons again.

Also, too -- IT'S 2013! WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT AN ELECTION THAT'S THREE YEARS AWAY???

Nice Tri-corner hat. Does it come with the ponytail sewn into the back of the hat?

There's always a few of those at NE patriots games. Although not nearly as many since the teabaggers started their thing.
