Letter laced with deadly poison Ricin sent to Republican lawmaker. Because you know the world was not just not scary enough already.

Courtesy of the Herald Sun:

US mail authorities have intercepted a letter bound for a Washington senate office that contained the poison ricin.

The letter was detected during a routine inspection of mail at an off-site facility and did not reach the US Capitol or Wicker's office, an aide said, citing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who briefed politicians about the security breach this morning.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed the attack, saying the letter was addressed to Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican from the state of Mississippi.

A suspect has been identified.

US Senator Claire McCaskill has told the blog Politico that the letter had come from an individual "who frequently writes to lawmakers".

Holy crap! Well at least they caught this guy.

It may be nothing but Senator Wicker WAS one of the sixteen Republicans to vote to end the gun control filibuster.

This is one we should go slow on because the test they use is notoriously inaccurate. Having said that it makes you wonder if we are starting to see a new level of terrorism in this country - home grown gun nuts and racists who feel threatened and emboldened by people like Sara and her crazy followers.

Exactly. I find Sarah, McConnell, Boehner, GOP Congressmen, all the Fox jerks, Beck, and Rush very very dangerous. They advocate guns in the hands of these delusional people, feed their hatred and fear of government, and then blame AQ or Arabs or Obama when their followers turn violent. Stop feeding them lies, and maybe this nation can once again be a caring place. My sisters are completely brainwashed, and they are in their 50's. I can't even have a conversation with them. And I;m certain to get an email about "Benghazi and Boston: you must be so proud" at any moment.

He was one of the senators that treason/noose graphic was referring to.

I'm sure that noose was just a...um...surveyor's mark...or whatnot.

Palin posted that she " can not and will not support politicians who support any more limits on our Second Amendment rights."
Wicker's vote to end the filibuster could be interpreted as " limiting Second Amendment rights."
If Palin and the Tea Party and Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin , etc had their way, the letter writer / Ricin maker would not be flagged in a gun
    background check.
Because to do so, would " limit their rights " under the Second Amendment.
Which obviously trumps the rights of the rest of Americans to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Mark Sanford. Republican. Running for Senate after grabbing a piece on the Appalachian Trail. Busted for trespassing at his ex-wife's house? Repeatedly?

Not that there's any connection, but just the same...lest we forget: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2011/1102/Ricin-plot-Target-list-includes-judges-IRS-agents-Atlanta-and-Washington

"When it comes time to saving the Constitution, that means some people gotta die," an arrest affidavit quotes one of the defendants as saying during one recorded conversation. "I could shoot ATF and IRS all day long. All the judges, and the DOJ, and the attorneys, and prosecutors.”
