First off, Bachmann brought up one of her favorite topics, the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in September 2012. She wanted to know about the White House’s “armed drone strikes” in eastern Libya prior to those attacks last year.
“Armed drone strikes in Libya?” Brennan asked in seeming disbelief. “I am unknowing of such and would defer to the White House to address your question.” When she pushed him on the issue, Brennan asserted that “the White House doesn’t have a drone capability, responsibility” and said “I don’t know what it is specifically you’re referring to.”
When she failed to get the answers she was looking for, Bachmann said, “well if we aren’t going to talk about that, we aren’t going to talk about that, but that’s a question I’d like to know.” She moved on, asking Brennan “what is our red line regarding the Iranian nuclear development program?”
“That clearly is a policy question,” Brennan responded, explaining to Bachmann why he’s not the right person to answer that question. From there, Bachmann went off on a tangent about the various times the United States and U.S. interests have been attacked over the last few decades, expressing her concern that an Iranian nuclear attack could also come as a surprise.
But the most bizarre moment came at the end of Bachmann’s time when she asked about Iran’s “heavy water reactor.” The CIA men conferred amongst themselves for several seconds before politely informing Bachmann that it would be better to have that discussion in a “closed session.”
It’s not entirely clear whether Bachmann thought she would be able to extract classified information live on C-SPAN from Brennan and his CIA colleagues, or if she was just using her platform on the committee to air some of things on the international stage that have been bugging her. Either way, it was likely one of the strangest interactions between Congress and the CIA ever caught on camera.
Did you SEE the blank stare on Brennan's face? He had no fucking idea what she was talking about, and THEN she starts bringing up classified information as if she has NO idea that C-Span can be seen by people in other countries. You know, like Iran.
Okay I have two questions,
First how in the HELL does this lunatic get a seat on the House Intelligence Committee?
And two, have you finally had enough Minnesota? Are you finally ready to get rid of her and put somebody with at least two brain cells to rub together in her place?
She is literally beginning to make Sarah Palin look like some kind of genius.

We're working on it. Jim Graves, great guy who ran against her last time, is running again. He came within 1% and this after the 6th was redrawn to be even more conservative. She was subdued for a while after that. Good to see her talking again. It can only help him. You can contribute directly or through Act Blue.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Bachmann gets voted in by the ignorant fundamentalists in a very right wing district. That said, I think her time will be up in 2014 since Jim Graves came within 4300 votes of beating her in 2012. He is a strong candidate and he has already thrown his hat in the ring. Bachmann is such an idiot that it is embarrassing to even look at her much less listen to that shrill voice. I'm not even in her district but I always donate to Bachmann's opponent.
ReplyDeleteFor the good of our precious country, I'll give a substantial amount to whoever's opposing her, in a primary and in the general election. The woman is too dangerous to be near real policy and state secrets.

DeleteGryphen, you give Sarah too much credit. They are both idiots - equally.
ReplyDeleteBachman's intelligence is overshadowed by religious idiocy and attraction to conspiracy theories. Palin is just plain cognitively-challenged and a sociopath. So, I'd take Bachman over Palin any day but celebrate never having to make that choice. It looks like Bachman's headed for the bleachers.

Well said 1:16
DeleteI wouldn't ever call Michele Bachmann "intelligent."
DeleteBeaglemom
Not only is this woman stupid, she is dangerously irresponsible. I bet you that there will be a fresh new conspiracy theory out on the intertubes about a secret muslim heavy water bottling factory under construction in Benghazi pointing nefarious plutonic soda pop capsuls toward Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteThat'd be funny if Michele didn't take it so seriously.
DeleteBut, she's got an 'R' by her name! And she hates all the right people!
ReplyDeleteIt matters not that she doesn't have a brain in her head.
Could someone please start a change.org petition to get her off of that committee. There should be an IQ requirement to be on it.
ReplyDeleteAnd she was running for POTUS? Scary!
ReplyDeleteIs she crazy, or is she fragile with some manipulators advising her? I wonder if some story will come out that her husband the psychologist is doing some hypnosis thing on her. . .
OT - Conservative writer says, "I am really concerned about the “Palinization” of the political right."
ReplyDeleteHe's writing about Marco Rubio's fake biography and the right wing media's complicity in the lie.

Hopefully she will be the poster child for the R party being too clever by half. The conservative districts are so conservative they nominate a party candidate that can't survive a general election (e.g. Think Clair McCaskill, Christine "I am not a witch" O'Donnell, and others)
ReplyDeleteClaire McCaskill won. she is a democrat.
DeleteThey said the following about Bachman at HP. A shame that someone doesn't have the guts to say this about Palin as she is much guiltier than Bachmann.
ReplyDeleteSince then, Bachmann has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Her failed 2012 presidential campaign is at the center of an ethics investigation. Conservatives slammed her for questioning President Barack Obama's personal expenses, and comments she made about Obamacare killing people were also scrutinized.
Graves said Bachmann's propensity to make such "outrageous statements" underscores why his campaign has a better shot securing her departure in 2014. "They're sick of the showmanship," he said, adding that Bachmann likes to create headlines rather than legislate.

Wow....that video was amazing! I knew she was a total idiot, but asking those questions on CSpan was kinda like treason. We can all thank Boehner for her assignment, the Speaker hands them out. I would think Obama would be sending both of them a quiet message to shut the f..... up on national tv. She is way more dangerous than Palin, please...she is an elected congress woman ffs, let alone on that committee. Let us all pray this country finally gets rid of these morons in 2014.
ReplyDeleteWhat do they care? They hate the US.
DeleteIts simple - if she's giving away state secrets in public, she should be censured by impeachment from her office. Period.
ReplyDeleteIran's heavy water reactor isn't news.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IR-40
I suspect the CIA types were just hoping she'd shut up before blurting whatever secrets the idiot actually does know.
Michelle Bachmann's security clearance files must be absolutely hilarious.
Did the Yewnined States know.... Did the Yewnined States have.... "That's a question I'd like to know" No, Bachmann, you already know the question, you'd looking for answers.
ReplyDeletehow in the HELL does this lunatic get a seat on the House Intelligence Committee?
"That's a question I'd like to know"
Maybe she should stick to corn dogs and John Wayne Gacy, you know, topics she's familiar with.
That struck me too. SMDH
DeleteWe should all be sending emails to the congressmen and women sitting on that committee w/Bachman and ask the question why she was selected. Notes assuredly should go to the head of the committee expressing our concerns. I plan on doing it tomorrow.
DeleteThis Minnesotan never did and never would support and/or vote for Bachmann in any way, shape, or form. I am so embarrassed by her and her administration.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't she being pulled from office by Congress leaders, commite heads or the state she represents? What a fucking idiot that woman is...think she is almost worse than Sarah Palin if you can believe that!!!!
ReplyDeleteGarrrrgh! Does this nitwit not pay a staff of aides to keep her from vomiting forth this nonsense every time she opens her mouth? Apparently not. And, as a woman, I'm sick to death of the likes of her, SP, and that piece of leather with the pointy finger in AZ representing my sex in the world of politics. It's no wonder women haven't made greater strides when we have these three belligerent dimbulbs leading the way.
ReplyDeleteTo say that she may Palin look like a genius, might be going a bit too far. However, the much scarier proposition might be that she makes Palin seem close to being sane.
ReplyDeleteThe Onion gets better and better at this......this was the Onion right?
ReplyDeleteI have also wondered for a while now how Michele Bachmann ever got on the House "Intelligence" Committee. It must have been a joke.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
I love how she conveniently omits all the strikes on missions and consulates during Papa and Baby-Son Bush's terms. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/12/1130950/-If-diplomatic-attacks-are-a-sign-of-weakness-Bush-was-the-weakest-of-all
ReplyDeleteAck. It's not Minnesotans who vote for her. As in all Minnesotans. It's the Sixth District (Bachmann's district) brain dead tea zombies who keep voting Bachmann in by a slight majority.
